Battery usage critique please! - HTC Sensation

Hi everyone,
Phone is Sensation XE.
ROM is Virtuous Insquisition 4.0.2 (using kernel that comes with the ROM).
I think i'm a moderate user. I dont surf or play games that much. I do text/chat quite a bit. However, my battery can never last a whole day.

by 7 or 8pm, i usually have to turn off Data, WiFi, GPS ect to save battery.
Can the phone last the whole day with Mugen battery? I've already purchased it. waiting for it to arrive.
Please advice,
Thanks

Yes it should get you through I bought the anker and it works perfectly no issues but I wish I could still get more juice because I am an extreme user lol...
Swyped From My Sensation.

I'm also an extreme user and anker battery helps a lot! What a difference from stock battery!
Not sure about the mugan I've never tried it.I'm sure it will help out a lot I know Anker does.

If you have all those apps up and running they will withoud doubt kill the battery life
The other poster are correct in that a better battery/larger capicity will provide considerable help
Are you aware that Wif uses lots of power looking for and trying to connect to wifi, so if its not connected switching this off help, also GPS is a grat battery hog and should only be on when needed
try without them on for a few recharge cycles and see
I recommend a quality replacement battery - try the Anker 1800 ma I get almost 48 hous of medium us - no GPS and wifi only on when I'm at home or work - it uses less power when connected unlike the GPS

Impressive Battery Life?

Hey everyone, I have now had my Nexus S for 3 days and have loved every minute of it.
One of the things that has surprised me is the battery life. Check it out:

I still have 39% battery after two days! This is really amazing I think. Granted I only had 2 phone calls in that time but I have been texting a lot and playing around with settings.
How long does your battery last and do you have any tips on improving battery life?
I am running CM7.1 with Go Launcher Ex and have the brightness set on very low plus I don't use screen orientation switch either.
What is your screen on time?

Even if thats just ideling that beats my evo which would be done in thr early evening with no use

I use matr1x kernel wich has the best batterylife for me, but i still have to recharge every day...

I run it completely stock and unrooted, and get about a day with average use. By far the best smart phone I have owned.
Matrix or Trinity seem to give the best battery life.

Sorry I don't know how to find screen on time.
I put my phone on charge after 2 days 22 hours and it was still on 19% but I charged it to be safe because I am expecting a very important phone call.
Calculating data regarding battery stats using morfic TEUV-S22-05102011, you could reach around 80 hours with cell connected but having very little activity.
Same place as that pic but click on display that will have shown display on time

Ok I found it, it says 3hours 24min and 10s.
wow.... 3h 24min display time and still 39% battery? amazing.

[A]Overheat and Battery drain problem fixed (for me)

Hi everybody, it's been a while i'm trying to fix that problem.
My Sensation XE was overheating 'til 40 degreas sometimes (everytime).
I think it's not a problem with the kernel, or the rom, or anything else in the firmware... I follow some xda fans advices and bought a Saner 1900mah battery, and it simply fixed the problem, my phone never pass over 25,6 degreas it's the maximum i saw. That's for the overheating problem.
For the battery drain problem, my phone is running on the battery since 1 day and 3h 27m'' and i still have 36% of battery Oo. I up a screenshot

So i hope that topic will help, it was just 10 dollars for the battery... no too much..
Peace
I wanna get a extended batterie but do you need another backdoor for the battery ?? And also when you got it what did you do ? Like what steps youve been through?
Put battery
Let it drain to 0%
Then charge back to 100%?

Does the ROM affect battery life as well? What ROM are you using?
And yes when i recieve the saner battery i used ut immediatly and wait to 0% then charge it all night long. You must do it to calibrate the battery.
Im using Ordroid 3.0.2 sense 4 but i dont think it affect à lot on the battery life... Im pretty sure its not... Just a bit.. à tiny bit.

[Q] Battery totally depleted (in minutes?) while being on charge... WTF?

I had numerous issues with this damn phone since Videotron changed my beloved HTC Glacier (just because the headphone jack was broken) to this P999 **** (they brand it Optimus 2X here).
I saw the phone reboot by itself, becoming slower than a G1 on ICS, refusing to connect to any wifi (awesome for someone without data plan) and refusing to boot after installing ROMs.
But that one take the cake. This morning the phone battery went to 0 in a matter of minutes while it was plugged into the wall. Don't ask me what happened, I was sleeping and when I woke up, I had to boot the phone.

Of all issues I had with this phone, battery wasn't one until that.
So if anyone as a theory, I would be glad to know it.
- Thanks!
Phone details:
LG-P999 (Refurb device, acquired the 9th April 2012)
Lexar 16GB Class 10 SD-Card (never used the on-board storage)
ROM: SINGH-UI (MIUI 2.3.30)
Android 2.3.7
Baseband May 18 2011
Kernel 2.6.32.51-CM7-Faux123-048 (Stock clk/vt?)
(I know the ROM isn't the latest one, but as I said, the phone seems to refuse to boot any GB roms I install lately but I was able to use a Nandroid)
I've had similar issues with charging. Mine would drain while plugged in with only the screen on. Terrible. It would get super hot too.
It's possible the battery is going bad or a glitch in the phone making it thinking it was at a higher % than it was. I would try discharging it completely then using an external charger (or a new battery, $10 on amazon) to charge it
If you are willing try this one and see if it fixes the issue. Please post results.

Damn man sucks to hear about the horrible experience you're having with the G2x. Try running the latest nullifier before flashing a new ROM.
Also, download the ROM directly to your phone.

Hi,
You should use your battery for 3 or 4 cycles (charge/discharge) before judging it.
Yes above post is correct. Please cycle 3-5 times before judge. I just received a. New mugen 3500mah battery
It's recommended to cycle 4-5 times before it reaches full capacity. I'm on first cycle. So far a hour of use still at 100%.but it won't be to full capacities until its cycled at least 4 times.also I read not to drain to zero percent before next cycle. Hope this helps out.also you can get a long lasting battery if issues still persist. Personally I finally broke down and got a mugen 3500 mah for my device. The back cover is pretty ugly but so far first cycle battery is amazing! That's what matters to me anyway. Phone may look a bit pregnant but great battery life is the trade off . So far its worth every penny. I was tired of having battery issues. If you do decide to purchase one. Purchase from mugen site. Also follow instructions before use device must be charged 12 hours even if showing 100% also instructions recommend never discharging to zero before next cycle of 12 hours . I hope this helps.

So I get terrible battery life on GB, ICS, an JB compared to my Nexus One.
Tried almost every ROM + Kernel combo now and no use.
Turned off every battery draining thing (Data, Wifi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, No widgets, No fancy wallpaper) and yet my battery goes down like 20% just being in my pocket for an hour to two hours.
In that same time I would lose at most 10% on my Nexus One.
Could it be that I have a bad radio? Do you guys who seem to get awesome battery life have a newer radio than I do?
Have you turned off the google auto-sync? You can do so from the power widget.

Yep. I have everything related to sync off and I also have backup data off as well.
Is 9% battery loss in 45 minutes okay with all those things off and it just being in my pocket?
:/

You need to use better battery stats to figure out what is draining your battery. You can find it here.

Battery life
I have got a pretty good battery life with the XenonHD ROM... :good:

Maybe your battery is physically dying.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Yes, there are many things that can adversely affect battery life, and radios are on of them. You can try to flash a compatible radio, but make sure you have a backup. Also, all radios eat battery when they're in bad signal (the phone uses a lot more power amplifying the signal).
BUT
Battery drain can be caused by many things. So while it wouldn't hurt to flash a new radio, you should still monitor the drain with betterbatterystats
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Assuming the OP didn't switch on '2G only' in the settings I'd be inclined to suggest that flaky 3G signal is the cause of his battery drain. I'm on the newest radio (XXKI1) and whenever I'm in an area with poor 3G coverage (the inside of my house, for example) I often fall prey to horrible wakelocks. Switching to 2G only (plus WiFi for data) solves the issue.
