So....my wife's phone's speaker (Blaze) stopped working. So, under warranty, TMobile sent us a new one.
Her's was rooted, So time to return to stock for the return.
I didn't realize that in ODIN, re-partition will check itself.

Have you tried pulling battery and getting into download mode again? Does your phone have the computer picture on it? Or what does it show?
sent from my batcave
It shows the mobile and computer connected with the yellow ! triangle.
I've tried pulling the battery a few times now to get back into download mode....with no luck.

How are you doing it?
Open Odin and connect USB to PC but not to phone
then pull battery , put it back in...hold volume + & - then plug cable to phone and kkeep holding volume buttons and see if odin recognizes the phone
sent from my batcave
Take out the battery. Plug he USB cable into the computer and the phone. While holding the up and down volume buttons insert the battery keep holding the volume buttons until you see the download mode screen.

nope....still goes to the error screen
If all else fails, tmobile floor techs generally have to much to do as it is. They will plug it in and restore it to default anyway. I made the mistake of sending a rooted device in by mistake, and again on purpose. Never heard a word of it.

Even if it goes to error screen does Odin read it? If it does then flash back to stock n that's it

no need for the power button and if you have another person you can have them put the battery in but you still need to hold down the buttons its awkward to do yourself so if you have another person put the battery in it would be easier

That black screen is recognized in odin as download mode, just flash from there.

Okay so I was in the process of installing gingerbread on my phone with Odin when my phone just turned off unexpectedly. Not thinking anything of it, I turned it back on to this weird screen and the phone is stuck here. Any help would be appreciated. I have attached a picture of the screen for reference. Thanks.
Don't know if it'll help since I haven't had this problem before but, try removing the battery (just to get rid of that screen for now), then without even turning it on, go straight to Download mode and return it back to stock using GTG's procedure.

How do I go about doing that? How do I put it into download without turning it on?
Pull Batt, Hold the volume up and down rocker....put batt back in and plug in your USB cable that is plugged into your Computer.
you should be in DL mode after that.
Okay that's what I thought you meant, but I wanted to clarify because I tried that before and I tried it again just now and still the same thing. The screen is slightly different, but basically the same.
does it boot at all, into a logo or anything?
without a method to get to Recovery or DL mode......i would think you needed a Jig to accomplish getting your phone back to a working state.
No it doesn't boot to anything. Just comes on to that screen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1147636
this is the Jig i was speaking of........otherwise you may just have to return it.
No you don't have to return it. It will go into dl mode. Hold volume up and down and insert USB cable. Open odin and reflash.
That is a static rainbow screen. I ran into that among others while trying to flash it. I just gave up and flashed to stock and reflashed miui. There are some who did have success in getting it to boot but not me.

you could make it, just resisters and a gutted USB cable. but for 8 bucks to have a DL mode fix is kind of worth it.
i have only bricked my Cappy like that though, and i made one at work.
Goto gtg's ultimate unbrick thread in development and read through the directions for unbricking.
All I did to get into dl mode was pull battery, reinsert battery, hold vol up and down together and plug in USB.
Don't make the mistake I made the first few times trying to get into dl mode and hold power button along with. ONLY hold the 2 volume keys.
I understand where you are coming from. I thought my phone was f--ked too when I got that static screen.
Hope it helps
Edit,.... my dl mode screen looked different than the usual one this time. It looked like a computer and a phone side by side with an ! Between them. No worries its still dl mode.

Okay well I don't know what happened, but I was able to reflash to stock somehow. I did the process for getting to the download screen, but the rainbow screen showed up so I just decided to act like it was there and hit the volume up and it showed up in odin finally and I was able to flash it. Thanks for the help everyone!
Hand claps, im glad it was an easy fix.
Kudos to you for not freaking out or giving up.

Okay I got it working again and reflashed the stock ROM using GTG. But now that its running its running like crap and the second I turn on the phone it gives me like 5 notifications that some apps have stopped unexpectedly and I have to force close them. Not only that, but now every time that I open an app it almost immediately closes saying that it has stopped unexpectedly and needs to be force closed. Any ideas on what might be causing this? I'm thinking that it has something to do with the reflash, but I'm not sure. Oh also on a smaller note, my market app is completely different as far as how it looks. Not a big deal but just thought it was interesting. Thanks.
i always a fan of reflashing.....lol
since you got it past that rainbow of death, i would go back to stock one more time wipe EVERYTHING and go from there....the Force Closes is not a Huge deal. usually happens from a bad install or using TiBu to restore sys data.
so Flash away,
weird screen
that kind of screen happens when you use the lagfix with a rom in 2.2 base and change it from rfs. you have to put it back to rfs and try the rom you installed again or you have to reflash back to stock. This has primarily happened to me when going from a 2.2 base rom to a 2.3 rom

You'll probably have to go into download mode, and odin back to stock.
Yeah it's probably a soft brick, if you can get into odin (power + home + vol UP) you should be good to flash back a stock w/root and be back up and running.
I just did this when I had to flash back from a bad download of the synergy nightly....or possibly it's a problem with the nightly, a good lesson to actually check the md5 on a download...

Power + home + volume up to get into download mode. It should show something on the screen if not try what was said above and put it in d/l mode with Odin opened and the phone plugged in.
I don't want to start some heated debated but I don't see the difference in "self bricked" and "self dropped into a toilet" when it comes to insurance. Now warranty that's a different story.
I have to disagree and agree with the guy who says these people are xxxxbags. I wouldn't go so far as to call people who want a working phone as a "xxxxbag" a bit irresponsible yes, but to go so far as calling them xxxxbags I think is a bit harsh.
On the other side of the argument are the people who act as if Verizon or Samsung are obligated to replace a bricked phone. You don't throw your phone around like a football then expect it to be replaced for free. People who flash custom roms, etc (including myself) are fully aware of the risks they are taking by doing so and should take the responsibility to try and fix it themselves. If they can't figure out how to fix it with the help of all the brilliant minds on XDA, Verizon won't have too much luck either.

It's home+voldwn+power then vol up to continue.
And one is and accident and one is self inflicted. If you don't see the difference I can't help you:victory:
Nothing but a flame war here
It is against XDA rules to discuss ways to fraud the carrier into warranty replacement

Hello everyone! Im not sure if this question goes here or in the development section but...
I was running glorious overdose v2 and i hit the power switch and it gave me the options of rebooting, airplane mode etc i accidently hit download and then my sk4g restarted itself and went to download mode, at the time i didnt have the back cover on because I had taken the sim card out, as you can assume, the battery fell out while in download mode.
It wont turn on, go to download mode, nothing at all. Nothing shows when i connect it to its charger.
So what are your thoughts on the matter?
Dont be a smart A. And say "search first then ask question" , because I already have, and found nothing that can help.

Its good to know someone else has encountered this
You have to download xda an some script things (havnt used it in awhile or know the links) search either odin or how to. Exit download mode (should work) if not take the batter out an keep holding the power button it will take the rest of the elctricity out an leave it like that for 10-30 mins
If you cannot find it search for how to enter download mode through computer (should have a how to exit)
There its lots of trial an error with this but should work (then avoid download mode after fixed unless you odin)

I'd say if all else fails, make a usb jig... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604707 hope that helps, it will cost you just a few dollars from radio shack, a pack of 100k ohm resistors and an old micro usb cable
1.-Remove both the SIM card and de microSD card. 2.-KEEP YOUR BATTERY REMOVED 3.-Apply the Download-mode button combination (known by you all) 4.-WHILE HOLDING THE COMBINATION, insert the battery, and keep the buttons pressed untill you get the download mode. 5.-Flash your phone with a valid firmware through Odin (Preferebly, have Odin prepared before doing this trick)
I found this while browsing xda. If that doesn't work, get a jig and cross your fingers.

Hey guys. I'd really appreciate your help. So this is how the story goes. Im pretty well versed in flashing ROMS. I flashed the CM10 Rom, don't remember the exact name, but it's the one where u can download a bunch of themes. Anyway the wifi kept coming on and off so I decided to try another ROM. I went into recovery mode and flashed the MIUI vs OTTER ROM, I think thats the name, I'm pretty sure . Just as the flashing finishes the phone turns off and BAM!! The problems start so basically phone wont come on now. I don't get the vibration before it starts, so I figured Id root back to stock and start all over...(Odin..PIT etc.) So this is what happens. The computer makes the noise that indicates something's been plugged in and then immediately it makes the same noise as if somethings been unplugged (phone is still plugged in though) Screen is completely blank still and a message comes up (ON PC) to install new software on ( the phone). The software or Device that registers as the phone in device manager is Qualcomm CDMA technologies MSM. Any help would be appreciated. And yes I did the whole wipe factory/dalvik etc. right before flashing the MIUI ROM. The computer says I need to flash drive F to be able to use it (which I figure is the phone, and flashing would erase everything right?) but as I try to do that it denies me permission because th phone is apparently coming in and out, or on and off.
Have you tried a jig? Do a quick Google search "Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G Jig" . It'll get you into download mode and allow you to flash through Odin back to stock, I believe.

I've tried everything including:
Taking battery out for extended periods.
Trying to hold volume up button and power/vice versa with both and volume down, whilst running odin to see if Added" pops up on odin so that I can root to stock and start over."
Every time i plug the phone into PC you hear the plug and unplu sounds as if the phone is continuesly turning off and on but nothing on the screen. Im not even getting the vibration.
I had a similar issue on my phone recently. It was incredibly frustrating so I just left it on the charger. When I came back 30 minutes later, it was on and charging.

I have almost the EXACT same problem. BUT, I do have a jig that I know that works...and it doesn't bring me to Download Mode. :crying:
No button combos work...download or recovery, I don't even know if it is charging...had it on the charger for about 30 mins so far.
(It says exactly:
You need to format the disk in drive G: before you can use it.
Do you want to format it?
<Format disk> <Cancel>
I of course press cancel
With a battery or without a battery, when I connect to the computer it installs the drivers as stated above but it continues to ask if I want to format it. If I leave it plugged up, the popup continues almost endlessly. I've not yet press FORMAT, as I would think that could make it worse than it is.
Has anyone seen this type of problem?
*EDIT: I'm sending it out on Monday to get it JTAGed, too expense and complex to even think about trying to get a box and attempting the fix myself.
I was basically told that the Boot portion (whatever it's exactly called) needs to be re-written and then probably just flash stock firmware on it.
Just wanted to leave this here to help others search and find this info...just in case they attempt to try to do more than they should and really mess their phone up even more.
