Stock. 3 - 3.5 hour screen time.

About same. No tweaks. No wifi use. Straight up auto screen with lte connection at all times.
Mostly browsing for the screen time on.
That's enough on my book.

I'm in Central NJ, I've found the 1.85 kernel to be the best.

Yeah that's what I've Been using I tried 1.88 but it drains fast even though either people say its really good for battery

I had better battery life with 1.88 but my reception was horrible so I switched back to 1.85 and its been working well.

Amazing battery life all of a sudden?

Not sure what I could have done but since yesterday my battery life has been nuts. I installed and am using a livewallpaper but that's it. Phone has been on for 5 days and it just got better yesterday. Is it even possible that lwp could help battery life?
Doing well today too will post screenshot later on. I've been using it as normal so its not due to change in usage at all. Again the only link I can find is the lwp!!

I'm pretty sure live wallpaper won't be saving you battery, having a constant animation on your background is only going to increase your CPU load and RAM usage, which will surely impact on your battery life.
What ROM/ kernal are you using?

One of the most effective things I have ever done for battery life is, after the first full drain/charge Calibration I did four more full drain/full charges before using normally. Then I remained patient with imperfect battery life until those steps were done.

Wish I got those kind of results. After the update to 2.3.4 my battery life has been terrible and nothing I seem to do is helping
It simply looks like you've been on wifi a lot. It's known that being on wifi puts A LOT LESS strain on your battery than does using the network.
Same here battery life is not as good as expected but I guess there's not much we can do, either buy a much bigger capacity battery or be contended with what the stock could offer.

This is what I have now. With just casual texting and facebook, auto sync is off on all accounts except weather for the widget , no games. So I'm sure by the end of the day ill only get atleast 8hrs on my battery if I get lucky. From 100% to 65% in 3hrs I don't know if its good or not but oh well what can we do.

Cell standby: AOSP vs. Sense

Okay, I've been meaning to ask everyone about this for a while now. Has anyone noticed extremely high cell standby use in battery stats? The reason I ask is, when I am running a sense ROM it reads right around 5% usage. But when I am running any AOSP ROM, it usually between 35-40% and causes me to get really poor battery life. Has anyone else encountered this? Thanks for any info.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk 2
No, i have used both and havent really noticed anythiing like that. It may be just crappy cell signal, what roms were you comparing
I've flashed just about everything available for Mt4g except the ICS ROM's. I'm running team Inferno's arhd at the moment, but have in the recent past tried coredroid, tdj's sense ROM and a few others as well as cyanogenmod, MIUI, and some other AOSP roms too. I get great service in my area, and this has been an issue on all three mt4g's I've had.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk 2
I remember someone posting on here about sense or aosp roms, that you could open titanium backup and delete something called "Google Backup Transport" to help a lot of battery issue. I'm not sure if its related to what your problem is though..

Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk 2
Look into getting BetteryBatteryStats (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809). This will help you figure out exactly which process is draining your battery, as it isn't always Google Transport.
Also, this is a long shot since you said you have this issue on all AOSP ROMs, but have you tried changing the kernel just to see if that makes a difference? I know each ROM comes with a different kernel, but maybe there's a combination of ROM + other kernel that will work for you, instead of the default. I know that was my issue at one point.

On the AOSP Roms I always thought that it was normal for cell standby to be the highest battery drainer in the list because that's just how it was reported for some reason. I could never get the Display's battery drain to be higher than the cell standby. But either way I got the same battery life whether I used Sense or AOSP. The only difference was that AOSP just displayed the battery usage wrong.

+1...I do receive better battery life on AOSP tho, unless I debloat Sense. But the cell standby is always high on AOSP
I've tried most kernels that are out there, and still have the issue. I thought at first that the readings might just be different in AOSP vs. Sense. I usually let the ROM settle in for a day or two to make sure, but cell standby is usually double what display is in battery stats. I can literally watch the battery get crushed. Average battery life is about 8 hours on any given AOSP ROM and close to 24 hours on sense roms. I just seems like it should be the other way around haha. I really appreciate all the help I've received from everyone! You're all great!

Hmm, well one thing is for sure when your on AOSP and your in a area with bad coverage the battery drains significantly trying to connect to T-Mobile. Have you tried putting on airplane mode in those situations? It's what I do when I'm in school because I have literally no service there.

Did you try disabling mobile data when not using it? Or using juice defender where it would turn of data when the screen turns off?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA
I've got juice defender plus. It adds around an hour and a half of life. The problem is, it seems that most of the battery isn't used up by data being enabled, but the phone being connected for voice and text. Battery life suffering...

Battery hasn't been lasting as long recently, only getting about 2 hours of screen on time... Can anyone tell what this is using up my battery? Thanks :/
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
what was your talk time and how was the service where you were located. Talking draws almost as much battery as the screen, so if you were on the phone for an hour or so it would likely be equivalent.
1 hr 15min
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Do a hard reset and charge the phone up fully before using it. If that doesn't work exchange it for a new one.
Also make sure all haptic feedback is turned off. When you aren't using data for several hours make sure to turn that off as well, especially if you are in an LTE area.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Does haptic feedback really affect battery that much? I wish there was an lte toggle
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Tooany variables affect it.
- Do you set screen brightness to the highest?
- Do you live in an area with patchy signals?
- What was included in 2 hour screen time?
When surfing on WiFi with 40% brightness, I lose about 1% current in about 3.5 - 4 min. If that is the range than yours might be fine or mine is also screwed up.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I have brightness on auto, and most time is spent on twitter, xda, Facebook, Web browsing, text, email.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I would also run battery drain test from one of the HTC utilities. On mine, the battery went from 100% to 91% in an hour. Did anyone else here performed it and could please share their numbers?

There is no way to turn LTE off on this phone. I personally tried all suggested methods on another thread. None of them work.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
doesn't seem to abnormal to me...2 hours screen time with over an hour talk time is pretty decent over a full day. My only gripe would be to turn brightness down to about 20% unless you are needing to use your phone outside all day. it is more than sufficient and your eyes get used to it quickly. saves a ton of battery.
I am getting anywhere between 2:30-3:30 screen time with about a half hour of talk time. so many variables its hard to nail down, but try out what ppl have suggested. I also turned off haptic feedback the moment I got the phone. check how many apps you have syncing as well. that can eat up battery especially with bad coverage.
good luck
Luckily I'm in a non lte area. Avg 4 hours of screen time. Battery lasts me a couple of days, but I don't use my phone much. When custom roms hit there will be a lte on/off switch.

Google around for HSPA+ only APNs for AT&T. When you enter them, be sure to put an asterisk in the "APN Type" field, otherwise the phone won't let you select that APN set.
That's how I got LTE to shut off on my phone.

I tried a couple of APN settings but, none worked. Wondering if you could plz share the screenshot.
Edit:
I tried the APN setting suggested in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652705&page=3
and it seems to be working so far.
Though, it should be noted with the S4 chipset that turning off LTE doesn't net you as much battery life as it used to. Though it does help with the network drops if you experience them. (I have.)
In response to the thread, though: My battery life has jumped the shark since updating to 1.85. Like, I was getting close to 17 hours mixed-use before my phone was in the red. Now, I'm lucky to get 8. I'm running it through a few more charge cycles just to make sure, but it seems pretty nasty.
EDIT: Screenshots:
Before: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4940279/images/before.jpg (1.73)
After: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4940279/images/after.jpg (1.85)
Notice I had to charge the phone halfway into the 8 hours just to keep it from dropping completely.

I get around 48 hours, with around 2 hours of screen-on time on LTE at work, WiFi at home. Light usage, including browsing, FB, XDA, etc.
I mostly use stock Sense ROMs, or custom ROMs based on Sense. I got a bit less on earlier firmware build (1.73/1.85). But as of 2.20 and later builds, its 2 days if my usage is low.
Its going to depend a great bit on the cell coverage in your area. If coverage is good, battery life will be just fine for a day or more with light usage, regardless of 3G or LTE.
LTE does use battery faster. You can limit it to wcdma and still get 4g and battery is definitely better. Still very respectable battery life even with LTE. If you turn off mobile network when you don't need data, and turn on as needed, you will easily get a full day or around 6 hours on screen time.
And redpoint said the most important part in the post above. Signal strength is a huge factor. If you are close to the cell site and have great signal, battery life is awesome. If you have poor signal, it will eat your battery fast.

Hey guys, I've recently bought a AT&T HTC One X. This is my first smartphone, and it is fully stocked, locked bootloader and no root, android 4.0.4 and software version 2.20.502.7, really like the phone. However, I am not really impressed with the battery life. I would usually charge it over night for around 8 hours, take it off in the morning at around 08:00, take it to school, casually check facebook/gmail, maybe watch one or two videos and by the time I get home at around 15:30, the battery would be at around 15%. I was wondering whether this is normal and if there is any point of my rooting the device and flashing any custom roms?
I have disabled all the AT&T bloatware, decreased my screen brightness to around 25%, no live wallpapers, disabled auto syncing, wifi and mobile data mobile switched on only when I use it, only have a weather/clock widget and a couple of games. So I have been researching about rooting and customer roms for about a month now, and found out that some members have amazing battery life times with Cleanroms and custom kernels, so I was wondering whether the latest 5.1 Cleanrom with a Beastmode kernel 4.4 would cause any damage to my phone and whether any of you guys are using it?
Thanks for your time!
