Issues with contact pics in messages app. - HTC Sensation

I'm currently on ARHD T-Mobile 1.20 but this problem has been following me through the last couple ARHD versions too. As you can see in the pic, contact pics are distorted... Even the generic pic is! Sometimes the pics show up normally too.
I've tried everything to fix this, but I may have missed something obvious. I've manually fixed permissions on the pngs as noted on the first page on the ARHD official thread. Does anybody have a clue what may be causing this? Or even how to fix this? All help is appreciated.

By distorted, you mean what?
Swyped on HTC Sensation 4G

Just look at the image... It shows you that every contact pic including the placeholder is not showing up fully like its cut off.

since its been happening for you on the last few builds, have you wiped anything before updating ROMs? have you tried a fresh install of the ROM?(wipe all except SD) have you deleted the HTC Twitter apk?

I've been superwiping between updates for awhile now. It is interesting that you mention removing the HTC Twitter apk because I have removed it at least twice before and now too.

well from my experience with Sense ROMs, even back on the MT4G, if you delete the HTC Twitter apk then all of the contact pictures will start to act funny (not show up in messages, phone calls, distorted, etc...) you could try restoring the app if you saved it, or just reflash the ROM after saving all your important stuff

Hmm. I'll try that out. *I changed permissions on the folders in com.android.providers.contacts and it seems to have fixed it for now.*
* Edit: What i did changed nothing. problem still exists. will have to try reinstalling htc twitter to see if that makes a difference.

I'm having a similar problem since I started using ARHD 6.6.2 XE... Except instead of the pictures being distorted, mine don't show up at all.. I'm running ARHD 6.6.7 XE now and I still have the problem

you missed this when you tried changing directories:

each line needs to be typed in one at a time followed by hitting enter, and there shouldn't be a : after cd. hope this helps.

S-Voice from Galaxy SIII - Working on ICS ROMs

So I recently got hold of the S-Voice app that someone extracted from the Galaxy SIII (its somewhere on the forum but I forgot the link) , and guess what? It's not framework dependent and works perfectly on ICS on the Desire S!!
NOTE : DOES NOT WORK ON GB ROMS. ONLY WORKS ON ICS.
I tried it on CM9 and it's working just like on the SGS3 !!
Give it a spin if you want
1. DOWNLOAD S-VOICE APK
2. RAR FILE FOR THOSE WITH PARSING ERROR

S-Voice is okay but i expected more. It seemed to mishear a lot and doesn't seem to hold it's own against siri from what i've seen. I just hope it works better on the S3.

Pretty nice app. It's just a rebranded version of Vlingo, like the one on S2. The thing is, somehow, this app recognizes all of my contacts. Samsung definitely added some stuff, no app on the market can recognize Indian names Of course, it won't be as integrated into the system with other devices as the SGS3, but still, better than any other voice assistant. I like the fact that Samsung didn't integrate this into the touchwiz framework and it works with all devices, unlike HTC Sense apps. I have used Siri on my iPod touch, and i can say that this is better (then again, the mic. on the iPod sucks, so maybe it was a hardware limitation )
@enigmaamit - Thanks for the mirror, the links on the original thread are slow as hell.
PS - I installed as regular app, not system app.

Yeah I totally understand what you mean! I didn't expect this to work at all, I thought I would need special Samsung drivers. Maybe it uses Google's Voice to speech technology incorporated into it? That's why any device can use it?
It's featured on the tech websites now!
How did you get Siri on the iPod touch? I thought its just exclusive to the iPhone 4S and iPad 3?

[Development hold][Official Released]One X Snapdragon eXtreme Sound Enhancer V17

Development is being paused, maybe forever.
I'm now working with aznrice2k4, the new results are impressive. Have faith, keep in mind that we have a BETTER audio processor than One X!
96kHz audio resampling may be possible! Huge thanks to sbryan, credits all go to him!
One X Snapdragon eXtreme Sound Enhancer has finally, OFFICIALLY come to XL!
Yes, after a few days of cooperation between ZeroInfinity and me(mainly him, all I've done is bricking my phone and reflash and brick again xD), the work is finally done! Most features are fully functioning!
The audio resampling and the bass enhancement just sounds great, I don't know how to describe it. I use PowerAMP, and before this mod I have to turn both Beats and SRS on to enjoy the music. But now, I needn't turn on SRS! The width is great, and the instruments' are a lot more noticeable(Thanks to audio resampling). Bass is better too.
Bass clear, everything perfect except ALSA. Yeah, the god damned ALSA. Tegra 3 has it because there was a leak ROM before release and it contains ALSA files, which are important. However we don't have it. Well, we do have it, but inside it's all crap and errors. So sad . ZeroInfinity is thinking hard to let us Snapdragon users get ALSA but it's gonna take a while... Well, if anyone wants their filename: alsa_amixer, alsa_aplay, alsa_ctl. All under /system/bin .
48kHz not enough? ZeroInfinity just told me that it's possible for us Snapdragon users to have 96kHz resampling, since we have a better audio codec than Tegra 3 users. However we need a kernel dev and chadgoodman's support(he developed 96kHz thingy on Evo 3D but then he left XDA).
MOD RELEASED! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692233
Please thank ZeroInfinity for the mod, and thank me for bricking my phone for 3 days! lolz
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After N times of reboot and ROM-bricking and reflashing and logcat, the Beta has finally come!
However I'm not sure if the sound really changed, since I have a weak sense about music...
THIS MOD IS FOR SENSE ONLY. AOKP USERS PLEASE VISIT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1819524
Features:
-Basically everything in the original enhancer
Working in progress:
- Changes of files in /system/lib/hw
This Beta release works with KingKobra 1X 1.4.1.
How To Install:
I have trouble making a flashable zip, so I will only provide the files in a unflashable zip. You have to use ADB to manually push them. After pushing, you have to set permissions in /system/bin to 755. Then, manually add lines in build.prop.
Code:
#Audio Tweaks By ZeroInfinity
af.resampler.quality=5
persist.audio.fluence.mode=broadway
persist.audio.vr.enable=false
persist.audio.hp=true
#xLoud Engine Service
ro.semc.sound_effects_enabled=true
ro.semc.xloud.supported=true
persist.service.xloud.enable=1
I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience.
DONATE ME, so I can keep up the work! Donate link see in my profile or under my information
Changelog:
- Alpha 1: Initial release
- Beta: Based on V16.0 Rezound Edition.
BUGs:
- Alpha 1: SRS, Dolby not system-wide. Incompatible with other DSP Manager (The DSP I provided may work) (SRS only works in PowerAMP, Google Play Music and Apollo Music)
- Beta: In PowerAMP there will be an extra & useless option of 'Beats". Ignore that.
Please HIT THE THANKS BUTTON or DONATE if you want to! If you do, then thanks in advance! It's really important to me!

Yes guys, I've seen all of your bug reports and I would like to thank all of you who supported me. Summer School is ending this week and I think I'm gonna have time this weekend.
AOKP users please chill, this version is for SENSE ONLY.
About the calling echo issue, I will try my best to fix it BUT the super low volume issue... I don't have it. Instead, I feel a slight boost in volume...
Bluetooth MAY BE FIXED.
For some reasons HTC didn't add SRS TruBass to RUU, now I know why. That hissing sound may come from TruBass.

Uninstalling a mod?

I was searching online for an extended power menu mod and I thought I had found one. I downloaded it and flashed it through CWM. But now, whenever I hold my power button in order to bring up the power menu, it soft reboots immediately with no prompts. If someone could help me, that would be greatly appreciated as I know the greatness of the xda community. Thanks in advance.

I will try reflashing the ROM. And the mod wasn't ROM specific. It said it would work on any JB ROM.

So I reflashed the ROM and my power menu is now working properly. Thank you. But before I flashed the ROM and now, still, I'm having a problem with my xda app uninstalling itself multiple times.
Also, I have a file that I downloaded from my ROMs forum called jb-framework.zip. There was no explanation given as to what the file does. Could someone explain it to me please?
And finally, if someone would be kind enough to create me a mod for an extended power menu I would be grateful. Or give me information on how to do so myself. Thanks.

Devs please help with the WiFi error.

First of all sorry to make another thread for the WiFi error.
There are so many users who have had this WiFi error since months. Wifix, flashing the boot image, replacing WPA supplicant file, and other lib files in system/lib/modules, using various kernels, various radio and ril, flashing stock ics, gb(not personally but I've read in the forum), s-on and back to s-off, jelly bean Rom, aokp Rom, sense based Roms, miui also and I don't even remember what all I've tried but WiFi doesn't work. Shows turning on and error.
Was using ordroid and viper s roms, didn't have the problem initially but while using viper s Rom, in say about a fortnight the WiFi error came up. Now I'm using micro sense lightning v1.1.4 radio 11.76 a....... Kernel yank, Sebastian, bricked, faux. Nothing works.
Devs please help us out with this WiFi error.
There are so many users with this problem. I request all the devs to look into this issue seriously. I know u guys must be trying hard to get this fixed.
Thanks for all the mods and roms so far. I appreciate ur effort as we all can all enjoy smooth and expanded power of our HTC sensation.

I'm pretty sure there are multiple threads about this elsewhere, and i think this is the wrong section for this...
But on a side note...
I picked up a sensation 4g for $140 a few days ago. It was missing the ring around the camera window and the volume buttons. Just needs a new back. Originally it had gb and i did the ota update to ics. I had wifi errors constantly before and after the ota. Since s=off and flashing roms, the problem has persisted. Last night i decided to figure it out... Basically, sense 4 roms had working wifi but i got errors with wifi tethering. Pyromod ended up being my ROM of choice. After bending the wifi contacts on the phone itself, out a bit, and scratching the matching contacts on the battery cover... Viola! Working tether! And no wifi errors. While sense 4 wifi tethering still doesn't work (unless stated otherwise in the op), wifi errors seem to have been eradicated.
I wonder how many of us have just taken the back off so many times that the wifi contact points just don't complete the circuit well enough.
Good luck with your search for a fix...

No your post is in the right place Ive had that same problem in the past I would like to know what kernel are you using and what is it clock speed fyi if you are clocked at oh let's say 1.8 or 1.9 then thats your problem some devices can handle the over clocked speeds and it is a fact that some devices can't the first problem they encounter is the WiFi issues try reducing your clock speed down to oh 1.3 and that will also save on battery as well

couldn't flash RUU but did flash the rom from the RUU in the temp folder in my pc.
Will try here too
I'm not sure if my problem is a hardware failure or a software problem. 3 weeks after I got this phone, it got water damaged. Full of water! I took out the battery, letted it dry for some hours and turned it on. Everything worked! Only thing to see from the water, was the spot, that shows if it have got water, was 3/4 red. Everyting went good within a month or so. Then in feburary/march it stopped working (wifi). The same thing for Bluetooth. It's just writing "turns on" wifi or the bluetooth, and after 5-10 minutes it say "error"
The reason why I wonder about if it's a hardware/software failure is, I do not remember if it came within a install of an costum rom or it just happened out of now where
Any sugestions?

You could flash the full ruu knot the one that's in your temp folder and relocking your device and that includes secure fag3 and start from scratch the entire unlocking process I'm will to bet that will do the trick no short cuts

I have the same problem and tried this but it doesnt work
I went back to stock completely and flashed full RUU etc ...no joy
Tried flashing the zip from temp folder as well but still no joy
Now Im stuck on S-On as the pin trick is too much effort at the minute to get back to s-off
Had to re-root unlock bootloader again and tried flashing CM10 KANG rom over stock ICS (Europe)
Still no wifi - this has been ongoing for about 2 weeks now - it works for 2 minutes then it drops connection and won't reconnect
This is what I have read over the forum. Let's wait and hope for it to work. It's been months without WiFi. 3g now seems so expensive.

Holy ****. My WiFi just started working. My data was not working because of some problem with the mobile operator so just to check I switched sim card(Vodafone) to idea sim from another state. It was working with idea. So I switched back to Vodafone and data wasn't working. So I went into settings and suddenly saw WiFi on and my home WiFi network was showing. I'm so happy. Hope this keeps working.

To be detailed about it, last night I flashed arhd stock odexed with its stock fw. My bootloader is locked by s-off. So I restored my android backup of lightning Rom last night. But all day WiFi didn't work and to be frank I check my WiFi almost every hour if it works. Now in the eve as mentioned above in the previous post it working. In the evening I dropped my phone taking it out of the pocket as my dog jumped on me as I returned home. And since half wifi works. Wow. Hope something helps others. Try the stock arhd. Might help u. But I still hope devs come up with a solution as I still have a feeling that the problem might occur again.

I think wire trick s off make damage to motherboard of mobile...thats why we got wifi error...
Rhishav try smartdroid berskerk rom v2.3......and see if wifi works or not.....i have suceess of wifi running again in smartdroid.......
You need to check under your camer lence...as there is the wifi tower located of ur phone..

Will try smartdroid berserk. The WiFi pins above the camera is ok. I tried lifting them up a little bit. Didn't work. Well about the wire trick, I'm s-off with revolutionary from hboot 1.17. So there was no wire trick and I guess that's not the reason for WiFi not working. But will try the above Rom. Thanks

[Q&A]MagioROM Sense 5

Evita Sense 5 FAQ’s
Will this rom work on the International HTC One X or X+?: No, this is ONLY for the HTC One XL. If you want a shiny new paperweight then by all mean, flash the rom.
Can I dirty flash this rom over a previous version or another rom?: It may work or it may not but, it is highly advisable to wipe cache, dalvik, factory reset just to rule out any issues that may arise.
Does everything function on this rom?: Remember, this is a port from a totally different phone so not all things function as they should. Namely Bluetooth, Zoe, Panoramic, Burst shot, wifi tethering. These things are being worked on and there is no ETA on when we will get them to work properly. When we get them working, we will let you know.
Can I flash this using CWM?: There are a few users that have gotten it to flash with CWM however, we advise you to use TWRP.
What version of TWRP can I use to flash this?: It is recommended to use 2.3.3.1 or 2.6 or later.
Will this work with ElementalX or Bulletproof kernels?: No.
I cannot get wifi to work after I flashed ElementalX or Bulletproof: ElementalX and bullet proof Kernal are incompatible with this Rom. Try Beastmode kernel by Team Blackout instead.
I found a bug. What should I do?If you have found a bug or some apps are force closing or something isn't working as it should try to capture a logcat of the problem or post a detailed description on how to reproduce the problem.
standby time is amazing on this rom
left mine at 18 percent at 12.00 am with wifi and mobile data left on
woke this morning at 7.30 am to find it still at 18 percent
happy days
thanks to all the above devs
just hoping and praying one of them can sort the bluetooth :good:

Couple things,Twrp 2.3.3.1 has basic touch driver assistance,sort of. It's most compatible with newer touch drivers,better than the reverts we use. 2.3.3.0 no touch assist on the other hand,won't work at all on new drivers. So recovery plays a big part,in proper installation of things. It can in some cases,mess stuff up. Example:WiFi is forked after a fresh install. Wipe install same Rom,everything works perfectly.
It's almost like grinders sig. (Ghosts in the machine) I believe what I just said was stated correctly,I could be slightly off,but a recovery downgrade+fresh Rom install,or touch driver update. Might help fix inconsistent installs.

For some reason, my phone doesn't like this rom. I installed 2.3.3.0 with the downgraded touch panel fw. I'm on hboot 2.14. I clean installed 3.0 by wiping everything except the sd card. It booted up just fine. So, I set it up, rebooted into TWRP to flash the 3.5 update, it went to TWRP's splash screen and bam, the phone instantly rebooted and got stuck at the HTC screen. I'm done. I truly love the rom but not when this keeps happening whenever I want to get into the recovery. My phone doesn't do it on any other sense 4+/JB Rom. I ended up having to fastboot erase cache to get back into TWRP to restore my backup of CleanROM.

It's basic xda rules that you search before posting. In other words, you HAVE TO LOOK. If you don't get that, maybe you shouldn't be here.
