[Q] Dont know anything about flashing, need assistance for my Samsung i9003. - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hi XDA-ers.
I am obviously new here. I do not know anything about ROM's flashing nor upgrading to newer ROM's. I got my SL few weeks ago from a friend. Bought it from her a very low price due to certain need. ANyway, please help me in the step by step procedure, what to download and what to specifically do first to upgrade, downgrade or whichever you may call it.
About my phone:
Model Number: GT-i9003
Firmware Version: 2.2.1
Baseband version: I9003JXKA4
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build Number: FROYO.JPKB1
I apprciate for your fast response on what the exact things to do. By the way I am from the Philippines, my friend told me this works before with a Globe Telecom sim card and now it doesn't so I cant use my Globe Sim.
Please, please help.
Thanks.

I guess you need to do stuff in below order
1) connect to Kies and get updated to latest firmware
2) root it ... search forum for help on rooting
3) select a custom ROM if you want to else
3) check out deodexing/custom kernels/mods available for your final firmware

What do you really want? To root? Use custom firmware?
Here's my 1st route after getting my phone.
1. This is the general rom that we use in this section download XXKPE and XXKPQ here first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
flash XXKPE first then XXKPQ heres the guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133787
then root it using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351056 download bagaria.tar there flash it via odin click PDA then browse that.
THERE! you can now install custom firmwares. Choose any from the development section download a rom save it in sd card then do recovery mode (Volume up+power+home) then install zip then pik the .zip.

Thanks so much for all your help. Im reading from stage 1 now. Will post here if I needed more help from you guys.

[Q] Help me revert to Stock

Hello XDA Developers,
I have been searching the internet and found a lot of information about Upgrading Firmwares, Odin, PDA, PIT, CSC and what not. Most of them comming from XDA Forums.
Today however, I was unable to find the answer to my questions and decided to create an account and share with you my burden.
So I have a GT-i9000 Galaxy S which has been rooted, and I want to benefit from the Official Auto Updates to get everything going (like the new Android marketplace)
I have 1st tried SamFirmwares or whats it called, only to find NONE of the firmwares in there were STOCK.
Then I found this other site where I did manage to find the PDA, Phone and CSC Stock files, and flashed them properly, but its still not good enough:
1. The Kies finds FW Upgrades for my Phone, But when I connect it, it says FW not compatible with your device - Clearly my device is not stock.
2. The Auto Updates show no updates for my device
3. The Kernel Version in my Phone info shows :
2.6.35.7-I9000XVJB-CL118186
[email protected] #2
So I figured I must flash Kernel to Stock, found a site - broken link to the Stock Kernel, Managed to find the same file somewhere else, found some instructions on where to put it and what to configure in Odin, Did it - Success.
Only nothing is changed..
I found no mention anywhere at all of anyone having this "nothing changes although Odin says Flash Kernel Successful"
My other details are:
FW 2.3.3
Baseband Version:
I9000XXJVK
Build Number:
GINGERBREAD.XWJVB
Please help. As it is now I also can't take the phone to any warranty - if I can find the word Root in it, so will they.
reflash it with flashtool. works like a charm

[Q] Another firmware question

I bought a US refurb P6210, I am in the UK.
Using Kies it doesn't state a current firmware version - is that a problem?
It also states there are no updates available - fine if true, not needing one.
How do I know what software I am using so I can get a Stock image for recovery purposes?
Android Version: 3.2
Kernel: 2.6.36-P6210UEKJC-CL567728
Build: HTJ85B.UEKJC.P6210UEKJC
Which doesn't seem to tie up with any of these:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20030890&postcount=11
From this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484573
It looks like I have a North American firmware October 2011 version C
The guy below me has European firmware Dec 2011 version 4
I too seem to have an unknown Firmware
Model: Gt-P6210
Android: 3.2
Kernel: 2.6.36-P6210XXKL4-CL604657
[email protected]#3
Build Number: HTJ85B.XXKL4 P6210XXKL4
UEKJC to UEKL1
Has anyone succesfully flashed the full P6210UEKL1 package over the P6210UEKJC firmware?
I'm starting to think UEKJC is a very early or slightly unofficial firmware as Kies doesn't recognise it (Current firmware version: BLANK) and the OTA never finds any updates.
This seems to be the firmware coming on the US refurb units from Digigood on eBay.
I'm tempted to start from fresh and flash UEKL1 using Odin and then see if Kies and OTA start to pick up the real updates from there.
For Odin flashing would this be the right process?
1. Start Odin 1.85
2. Load P6210XARKL1_P6210UEKL1_HOME.tar.md5 into PDA section
3. Turn on P6210 with Power and Volume Down and choose Download mode
4. Hit Start on Odin
Any advice/help appreciated

Yup. That's the correct process. This should bring you back to stock. I don't know what's been done to your tab's ROM in order for KIES not to recognize it, (I'd probably need more information, but it's not at all important,) this process should give you a clean slate from which to start. Good luck!

[Q] Regarding stock kernel for Samsung galaxy S II Vodafone Australia

Hello everyone, I've just recently switched from iPhone 4S to Android Galaxy S II
My phone info is given below:
Model: GT-I9100T
Android version: 2.3.5
Basband version: I9100TDUKJ1
PDA: I9100TDUKJ1
PHONE: I9100TDUKJ1
CSC: I9100TVAUKJ1
I have already followed the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399 to root my phone. I used http://download.chainfire.eu/50/CF-Root/SGS2/CF-Root-SGS2_XW_LUX_KJ1-v5.0-CWM5.zip and used Odin to flash it. I'm now having the yellow triangle which I want to get rid of. According to the instruction, it says "(4) Find an original Samsung signed stock kernel (preferably from the same stock firmware you have, but it's not terribly important)" however, the secure kernel link which I found from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671 does not seem to be listing any KJ1 version. Can anyone please provide me a link for downloading this? Would it be the one here?
http://hotfile.com/dl/144715979/1949050/I9100JPKJ2_I9100OJPKJ1_I9100XXKI4_HOME.tar.7z.html
Thanks in advance.
Samsung Galaxy S II Stock Kernel for VODAFONE AUSTRALIA
I'm still not able to get rid of the yellow warning sign even after following the instructions given here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14283369&postcount=2
(4) Find an original Samsung signed stock kernel (preferably from the same stock firmware you have, but it's not terribly important)
(5) Reboot into download mode (adb reboot download, or boot the device with home and volume-down pressed)
(6) Fire up ODIN, and flash the Samsung kernel
(7) Boot the device with the stock kernel. CWM Manager will still be available.
I guess my problem is not having the secured KJ1 kernel. Would anyone be able to help me please? I'd greatly appreciate it!
Thanks in advance.
Bump?
Thanks a lot for the bump. I believe I'm after this file but the download link appears to be dead as mentioned by many others.

metalmaze,
Your best bet would be to download the stock firmware from Samsung themselves. Unlike many other companies, Samsung has a database where all (or rather most) of their stock firmwares are stored.
Since I'm unable to post outside links on the forum for now, do a Google search for "SamMobile firmware" and click on the first link. You will have to register in order to download any files from SamMobile, but it is quick and free, definitely worth it.
Hope this solves the issue! Best of luck!
[Q] Samsung galaxy S II GT-I9100T Stock kernel for Vodafone Australia
Hey |Shadow|,
Thank you for your reply. I'm very confused to be honest. I have downloaded the stock firmware file from sammobile firmware website where the filename was I9100TDUKJ1_I9100TVAUKJ1_VAU.zip. However, few questions remained unanswered because of which I didn't do anything with it.
1. This I9100TDUKJ1_I9100TVAUKJ1_VAU.zip is the original/stock firmware. What shall I use to put this inside the phone? Odin? or the CWM "Slash Stock firmware" ? Is there a difference in between these two methods?
2. If I install that firmware in the phone, wouldn't that unroot my phone again? If that's the case, then CWM will disappear and I'll have to put an insecure kernel again and then root it. So it'd be like back to square 1.
3. Although my phone is I9100TDUKJ1 running Gingerbread 2.3.5, can I use the insecure kernel hotfile.com/dl/145373032/054a67a/GT-I9100_JPKJ2_insecure.zip.html to flash first, root the phone and then use hotfile.com/dl/145373034/3731622/GT-I9100_JPKJ2_original.zip.html to get rid of the yellow exclamation mark? Would that work?
4. I'm asking #3 because I believe I've tried doing that and it did get rid of the yellow mark but when I launched CWM, it said the kernel version is different and many features have been disabled due to this.
[Q] Samsung galaxy S II GT-I9100T Stock kernel for Vodafone Australia
Hey metalmaze,
Sorry that it took so long for me to get back to you, it took quite a bit of time to figure out exactly what you need to do to root the Samsung Galaxy SII (i9100 or in your case the i9100T) as I have the Samsung Galaxy S+ (i9001). With that being said, I think I found your solution
The stock firmware I told you to download is, in fact, only really used as a backup as you cannot (or at least not without great difficulty) separate the kernel and rom from the firmware. So if I were you, I would keep this file somewhere in case something ever happens to your phone and you need to restore it before sending it back to Samsung or Vodafone.
In the event that you have to flash back to the original stock firmware you can either use Kies or Odin (select as "One Package") and you should end up with a stock I9100T phone.
Now onto the topic at hand:
You have the KJ1 kernel on your phone at the moment and unfortunately there is no dedicated insecure kernel available yet, but there is another solution, or rather two:
1. You could use the KJ2 kernel:
hotfile.com/dl/143536280/cc63681/GT-I9100_XWKJ2_insecure.zip.html
hotfile.com/dl/143536361/ee49702/GT-I9100_XWKJ2_original.zip.html
or,
2. You could use the KI8 kernel:
hotfile.com/dl/143535921/572ad8d/GT-I9100_XWKI8_insecure.zip.html
hotfile.com/dl/143536103/be9ed09/GT-I9100_XWKI8_original.zip.html
If you look at the reference codes of Samsung: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=800257 you will notice that KI8 is the firmware released just before KJ1, while KJ2 was released just after KJ1. Thus, both firmwares are extremely similar to the KJ1. The XW just means that it is an international firmware and thus you should not have ant problems with compatibility with Vodafone.
From other members on the forum, it seems that the preferable choice is the KI8 firmware, but as I said, you can use either.
I really hope that this solves your rooting problem! Best of luck!

SM-G920R6 Firmware Help

I want to change the firmware of my Galaxy S6 (SM-G920R6) which is Verizon LRA device. I want to Install a stock rom like the rom of SM-G920V or SM-920F or SM-G920T..
How can I do that? which firmware will be the best for it?
I want to change rom because APN refuses to work - I edited a lot of files, tried every suggestion from here & other forums - nothing helped .
So I decided to change the rom in order to enable APN edit.
So, how do I change the stock rom of my cellphone to another stock rom? The SIM is working propley after I change some settings in serivcemode (So it's not CDMA anymore, it's GSM).
Please Help ! :crying:
Edit : BTW I used this in order to root the cellphone - so maybe G920T firmware will work? CF-Auto-Root-zerofltetmo-zerofltetmo-smg920t
My android is 5.0.2, please help.
Anyone?
This is a little off topic for the op but I really need help right now.. I rooted with CF autoroot for G920F no problem then installed TWRP 3.0.2-1 zeroflteusc also built for G920F model and in the process of trying to find a better rom as soon as I had a custom recovery, me (being a dumba**) accidentally wiped my internal storage to do a clean flash of a rom therefore deleting the only backup I had. I've only been able to find the factory binary for this device which I flashed but it had literally nothing exept for basic testing software and a simple ui to run it. It was also stuck on Android 5.0.2 but I found a compatible rom with AllianceROM v1 with update v2 flashed for the G920F but I can't find any way to update past 5.0.2!! I've been trying to find a way to update somehow for weeks but nothing is compatible with my device and I'm stuck. Would someone that has my model running on Android 5.1.1 or 6.0/.1 please install the TWRP I mentioned before and make a backup of the system, modem, efs, and boot and post it online or send it to me it would be a lot of help.
