Have you tried a custom rom? ARHD is more stable than stock and it comes with an HQ camera option to take higher quality pics.
You sound like you're running a Sense 4.0 ROM. This has always been a problem with Sense 4, you'll have to live with it if you want to stay on Sense 4.0. Sense 3.6 does not experience this problem, however.
Funny thing i posted this thread then came on the ad for THE HTC ONE WITH 4G and the whole fastshooting thing im like...oh wait thats what my phone looks like..HAHA then i worked out it was probs sense 4 normal photos are really nice, so its not a big deal hopefully a fix comes out eventfully

It seems that the Htc camera doesn't like my.
Yet I've discovered another problem that's include the camera. It seems that if I make video's the mic is clipping. It a shame realy with that great of a camera.
I'ts only with the camera and not when I call.
I've searched but couldn't find a similar thread. Someone ideas?
it has been fixed in the amazed camera, you can flash it. But for a instant solution just switch off stereo recording, it should be better.
Thanks but the amazed camera is only for sense 3.5 right?
yes, but I dont see no problems with sense 3.5 so far, and i have been using it quite a while now.
I like to overall look of sense 3.0. I've used other 3.5 rom's but ARHD 3.6.7 suits me best and the camera is the only thing bugging me
The camera clipping noises is one of the biggest reasons as to why I moved to sense 3.5. It's fixed in 3.5 and works great for me
you can still turn off stereo recording if you really dont want to move to 3.5. I like it much better than 3.0 but thats my opinion...
Sense 3.5 completely takes care of the problem. That also was the main reason I jumped to 3.5. I think it does exist a bit in the Amaze cam mod, and also the Blu ray mod as well. Turning stereo off helped in those mods but not completely.
I wish we knew where the problem lies....is it a kernel issue or something else?

hmm strange.. First I thought it was a hardware problem. Never thought it was this deep in the software
Yeah I found it the hard way by going on vacation at the end of the summer, and while the video looked good, they were practically unwatchable do to the mic clipping. It's been written about here a lot. Also if you head over to the Amaze forums you'll see people complaining with the same issue.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread.....I had some time today to play around with some other sense 3.5 Roms. I tried the latest Insert Coin, Sensay, and Elegancia. If any of these Roms had the Amaze camera I flashed the stock sense 3.5 camera after wiping caches. To my amazement after doing some testing, the high Mic gain came back in stereo recording, just like it did in sense 3.0 roms. So I restored my backup of Bulletproof 2.2.1 and did some stereo recording with the stock 3.5 camera and it sounds normal and good, the way it should. So right now Bulletproof is the only 3.5 sense Rom doing it for me.
Anyone have an idea what is being overwritten in some of the other sense 3.5 roms that would cause the high Mic gain to come back? I have some ideas that it could be remnants of the amaze cam mod, since that is technically a sense 3.0 camera, or possibly the beats mod. Wish I knew because I'd love to jump on one of these other Roms but decent audio for video is important to me.
Again sorry to resurrect this thread.

I did full wipe and flashed the latest CM7.1, I kinda like this rom but my camera is so laggy only when I use paper camera app it works fine, I tried other camera apps they are laggy too, any advice?
any advice
I have the same issue on CM7.1 ROM. When I run camera app the picture is viewed frame-by-frame per 1,2 second instead of stepless.
On the stock HTC ROM camera works excellent.
Does anybody have this issue? Where can I ask support?
Seems like it is a hardware issue with the desire S. HTC seems to have released a new hardware for the camera which isn't supported by the CM7 kernel yet (as of CM 7.1).
So your best option is to find a custom stock-based rom (sense 3.5), with a lot of the sense things removed for now.
Unfortunately we'll have to wait until either HTC releases the drivers (miniscule chance), someone fixes it in CM 7.2, or someone fixes the ICS camera problems.

Are you sure about that? I thought it was because HTC app is more optimized..

Unfortunately the problem isn't fixed in CM7.2 rc1 either... and apparently we're not alone as users of Incredible S are also getting camera lag.
I've done some forum trawling on CM and xda, and it seems that the complaint summary is:
1. Users of CM7-based kernel roms are affected (stock-derived sense roms don't seem to have this problem).
2. The Camera works, but live preview appears to be broken.
3. When you first turn on the camera app, it works for a brief second, then it freezes.
4. Touching the on-screen buttons appears to temporarily fix live preview, but if you let go, it freezes again.
Issue is explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397883
Other users also seem to complain of video playback lag (though I haven't tested this myself...)
So, I'm guessing the problem is a Camera harware vs. driver vs. kernel incompatibility with CM7?
And apparently we can't flash HTC sense-based cameras on CM7...
Mine Works alryt... bit laggy compared to stock sense, But not so bad.

Lucky... apparently users have been complaining that phones after october 2011 seem to be having problems, if you got your DS before then you should be fine.
I'm using virtuous quattro alpha 3, and actually I'm having a surprising lack of bugs with it. I don't use Bluetooth so that doesn't bother me. I get some occasional force closes but that's to be expected in an alpha rom. My major beef is with the camera. The aosp camera is really lame. I hate sense, but the sense camera is truly amazing. If I could get that on this rom, it'll he perfect. Has anyone figured this out? If so, can you walk me through it? If not I would love to try and figure it out with a little help. This aosp camera is pretty bad. I know its in part because its not designed for the hardware but even so, its worse than the gingerbread one I tried on cm7. Any help would be greatly appreciated with this.

As Virtuous Quattro is AOSP and doesn't use the Sense Framework, I believe it'll never work.
Virtuous Inquisition is AOSP look and feel on top of the Sense Frame work, it works there. I use Inquisition as my daily and occassionally pop into Quattro and CM7.

I was on Inquisition but I really like full aosp as senseless has its quirks. I like everything better on quattro except for the camera. Are there any aosp compatible camera mods?

I am using Camera ZOOM FX, it is truly amazing and worth the 5 bucks.
I'll look into it, thanks. Although I may just switch back to senseless ICS. I have always been a fan of AOSP over sense, but the senseless is a good compromise between guaranteed functionality (no major bugs like bluetooth or crappy camera) and the AOSP feel. I have found quattro to have much more battery drain (On Inquisition I could go an entire day and only get down to 40%) and for some reason the notification LED doesn't blink, it stays solidly on for notifications, like it does when it's fully charged. Not sure why it does that but I have read that other people have weird issues with notification LED's on ICS too. So I think I'm going to switch back to senseless ICS for now. Sense I is too bloated and I don't like the Sense look nearly as much as the ICS look. I'll wait until quattro is more stable before making it my daily driver.
i did some video recording on my sensation xe and allthough the video quality itself was ok the sound was very badly distorted.
I have read on here that it can be improved by switching the stereo option to 'off' but wondered if there was another way around this.
I believe my sensation is rooted and am sure i have seen something on here about a camera/video mod that has been built into some of the new roms.
i dont really want to try the roms themselfs but would like to use the camera mods etc but thought that it said they were for sense 3.5 and mine is on the standard sense3.0
anyone know how or what i can do about this and how to get the camera/video mod on my phone.
thanks
I had the glitches in video itself...and formatting my SD card solved it.... I am not sure about sound quality..... but you can always try it if you dont get any answers

thanks for the reply but dont think its related to the card.
i really need the zip or whatever for the camera mod like the amaze one that i can install on the standard firmware with sense 3.0
You won't hear any improvement until moving to the Sense 3.5 test leak or the ICS builds for the stereo Mic gain/clipping problem.
If you move to a sense 3.5 rom, try Bulletproof, as that worked well for me. I can confirm that ICS is fine also running the latest Elegancia Rom.
HTC never fixed this issue in the Sense 3.0 builds and no camera mods fix it.
The camera mods all had to do with tweaking the photos and upping the nitrate of video recording.
I do a lot of video recording of my daughter and sound is very important.
Hope this helps.

People are always posting up new threads asking for advice on this ROM vs. that ROM. Well, I haven't tried them all, but I've tried quite a few of the more popular ones recently. I'm not going to pick these ROMS apart. If you want more info about what I liked or didn't like about a particular ROM I've tried, go ahead and ask.
I got my Sensation back in January. I used the stock Gingerbread for a couple of months. Then got frustrated when the T-Mobile ICS update got delayed and have been on a flashing frenzy ever since.
I've been trying a lot of ROMs lately. I started with ARHD, then went to Elegancia, then Hypernonsense, then back to Elegancia, then Sense 4 Elegancia, then back to 3.6, then Virtuous Inquisition, then Opensensation (CM9), and back to Elegancia again. I've also tried Sebastion, faux, and bricked kernels - I prefer bricked best.
I honestly don't a see a performance difference between Sense, stripped Sense, or AOSP ROMs. I have System Tuner Pro and always monitor memory usage. I thought that the stripped and AOSP ROMs would have gobs of free memory available, but they just don't. They're no better or worse. I also was compelled to try those ROMs to improve battery life. Again, the experience didn't match the hype.
It all comes down to personal preference. Each ROM has its own glitches. But from my experience, full Sense 3.6 ROMs are the most functional and most stable. I loved the Sense 4.0 ROM I tried, except that Sense crashed on me like 3 times a day having to pull the battery each time. For me, nothing beats the Sense widgets. I live in the email and calendar widgets for work and the music widget in the car. No other widgets come close.
I think I'm gonna quit screwing around with it for a while. I am very happy with the Elegancia Sense 3.6 ROM / Bricked kernal combo. It's pretty much already modded/themed the I way I would do it. I can just flash it and go. I will try the Sense 4.0 version again when it's more mature. I loved it, I just can't have my phone crashing on me constantly.
I still want to try MIUI and will probably try CM9 again when it's official. I really like some of the home screen setups people have been able to pull off with their AOSP ROMs. But I think the widgets will always pull me back to a full Sense ROM. The only widgets that can compete, you have to pay for - and they're still not as good. Also, the AOSP camera blows compared to the Sense camera. In the end, it's all about what's functional for you.
In conclusion, try a few, try a bunch... don't get lost in the hunt for better battery life and more performance, because - 1) those 2 things don't go together... & 2) those 2 things are largely the same across all ROMS whether you're full Sense, stripped-Sense, or AOSP. Just find what you like and enjoy!
SO wutZ da best roms to use?
Just joking, but it's too bad some people are serious.
Its all about your liking that's it otherwise there is not a rom whit better battery life than any others

I've been using Ordroid (Sense4) for a week or so now and I've found it quiet stable to be honest. I haven't experienced any crashes.
The batterylife was in 5.0.X about 17 hours (2 hours of screen turned on).
V6.0.0; I can't say if there are anything wrong just yet since its been out for about 2 days only and I've used it for 1 day. but the first batterycycle was about 21 hours with 2h 5m screen turned on. Only thing I could complain about with Ordroid is the partially working BT, I can't say anything about the Wifi-tethering issue because I am not using it.
Hmm, well I guess that was that.
The partially working Bluetooth issue is across all Sense 4 ROMs. It has to do with the fact that Sense 4 was ported from another device with different BT hardware - so the Sense drivers aren't fully compatible.
With the release of T-Mobile's official RUU, it may be time try Sense 4 again and see if some of the previous issues I experienced are fixed now. But BT will probably always only be partially working due to the driver issue.

I'd love to know whether any of these custom ICS ROMs is better than the stock ICS ROM. I get that they are all (Sense or no Sense) pretty much the same when it comes to performance and battery, but how do they compare to the stock one? Will I get any benefits from switching from the stock ICS to one of these?
Thanks!
great post!
I use elegancia ics 4.3 sence 4.0 is good so far it has a few glitches like if you try to take a picture while recording a video, the camera crashes or if you press the camera button to take several pictures at once it crashes! But other than that is good!
P.D. that Rom is updated like every other day but I still don't know how to update it

Well I've always found that the custom roms out-compete the stock ones repeatedly. You get a much better battery life, minimal bloatware and more power. Use android revolution hd 6+ and you'll see the differences

I tried Elegancia Sense 4 again last night. I thought it was time to give it another go since there have a few builds released since the last time. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. Whatever issues I'm having are buried deeper than what gets changed from build to build.
My phone has crashed on my twice in the last 5 hours. It's unfortunate. I really like Sense 4 - I think it's cleaner & smoother than 3.6. The camera is better and faster than 3.6. But if your phone crashes on you while changing menus or doesn't wake up and you have to pull the battery all the time, then it's useless.
Does anyone else have these issues with Sense 4? Maybe another Sense 4 ROM is better? I have not yet tried another Sense 4 ROM because it seems they all use the same base. Maybe I should try another and see if it works better...
The new InsertCoin ROM Sense 4.0 is out now, looks very stable, only FM Radio not working. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546731
I just flashed OrDroid Sense 4. I'll give that one a shot. It has a different base - the new leaked Ville RUU instead of the One S. The Ville and Sensation share the same processor, so maybe that will do the trick.
EDIT: That one's no good for me either. It has its own set of glitches I'm not willing to live with.
Now trying Steve's new TMOUS Elegancia with Bricked kernel.
Any tradeoffs for non Sense ROMs? I know the camera app is better on HTC's but other than that? Is there a Torch app similar to the stock one? Etc..
...and back on Elegancia 3.7.6. lol
I am running the updated TMOUS firmware now, tho. along with the other radio fix for TMOUS users. This might be the best combo I've run yet. But I'm still anxious for a fully functional Sense 4 ROM.

For me, I love the overclocking of custom roms/kernels. Stock Sensation is 1.2ghz. My custom rom Sensation is 1.7ghz. Man is it speedy. I took the time to read countless posts and spent a ton of time learning how to mod my Sensation. No way am I going back to stock carrier rom.
