Swipe2Unlock kernel mod?? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hey folks,
I'm coming from a GSM Evo 3D and on it, we had a kernel with an amazing mod i'm totally missing: we could swipe our fingers from one side of the cap buttons to the other side and that way it would unlock the phone, kinda like a iPhone.
This completely bypassed the power button which i definitely needed because my buttion was shot to hell.
I thought this was only for the 3D but...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256668
What do you guys think? Anyone think we can get this working?

Anyone?
Lol

angrybirds pls read these...then call your self dumb ..you thanksholic..
On HTC devices the touchscreen driver controls also the touch keys, as they are part of the touchscreen itself....sweep2wake just tracks down the position of the finger on the screen to "virtualize" a sweep on the touchkeys, easy and clean
On samsung devices the touchkeys have a standalone driver and also a standalone hardware, also during suspend the keys are completely disabled and we cannot handle a wakelock otherwise there should be no deepsleep at all
Also if we do implement it, any time u push on (as example) menu button and back button one after the other, it will work as sweep2wake

What is MDNIE and how do I turn it on?
I have seanzscreams ICS installed and loving it, but was wondering what this is and if there's any advantage in using it.
Will this help?

Hi,
I have the same question and from my research it is some sort of display tweaking same as the Bravia Engine, only using this, you have a lot more options. Although in reality, I can't really find anything changing when i modify the settings...
mDNIe stands for mobile Digital Natural Image engine.
In stock galaxy S2 rom (at least my i9100 international), under Settings ->Display -> Screen mode, it shows a sample image and three preset profiles - Dynamic, Standard, and Movie. These adjust the brightness, sharpness, contrast on different screens/ in apps like camera.
Custom roms can always have custom settings for these display-related parameters of a phone.
I am not android developer, so I cannot tell you how to turn it on, but I think stock rom has mDNIe enabled by default.
How do you access the MDNIE options?
to access mDNIe options in my samsung galaxy s2
go to Settings ->Display -> Screen mode
i727 doesn't get this option I think, haven't ever seen it.

None of the crappy AT&T variants have this.
On the Skyrocket, just find "mDNIe Switcher" and install it. It comes with Seanzscreams Sky Ice rom. Not sure where to get just the .apk
It's available in CyanogenMod 10 and 10.1. I was tinkering with this today.

mDNIe is a display tweaking utility that is only useful if you had an AMOLED (LED) powered screen. Its useless for an LCD screen.

I didn't post wrong info... I just stated a fact. I know sgs 2 has an amoled screen... People asked what it is and i answered. mDNIe rebalances the chemicals in LED lights to change contrast, sharpness, blur effect. UI makes things sharper but might impact quality by missing MSAA (Multi Sampling Anti Aliasing) which now, in latest cm 10.1 you can turn on to avoid "pixelated curves" in letters and such. VT is more rich and contrast.. I think that one is from VoodooColor.
Camera i think makes the color level warmer. Every phone has different mDNIe modes. So just experiment.

Favorite HOX features.

This is a thread to list some cool things you like about the phone. Maybe point out a few things that other people didn't know yet.
For me I would have to say that the keyboard is awesome. Also the fact that it already has a printer option built in. Voice recognition on this phone is awesome. And of course face recognition is great too.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I've been a Swype user since the Nexus One, but I have to say that the Trace feature on the HTC keyboard is impressive. It's noticeably quicker to render words after swyping/tracing. Only downside I've noticed is you can't place the cursor on previous words and choose alternate suggestions. Unless I'm missing an option for this.
Ha. And I though it was an improved swype this whole time
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Interesting comment about the keyboard. I'll be receiving my HOX today but most reviews say the HTC keyboard is ****. Seeing the entire row of arrows on the bottom leads me to agree (but then again, I haven't used it yet). How does it compare to the stock ICS keyboard? I don't like Swype so I'm sure I won't ever use that feature.

About that. I tried using the face detect to lock my screen and at first i thought to myself, man does this work well.
Then for fun I had my dad look at the camera and guess what, the phone unlocked itself for him too. Now I know we look somewhat alike, but not that close.
Long story short, I wouldn't trust that feature..

My favorite feature is definitely the screen! I can't keep my eyes off of it. I do not like the HTC Sense keyboard and for those of you that also do not like it you can go to the Play Store and download the stock ICS keyboard and it works great on the One X. It is much more similar to the iPhone keyboard that I am used to and is spaced further apart than stock sense keyboard. Also, you get more screen room for viewing while texting or writing messages if you use the stock ICS keyboard.

I personally hate this feature. A dedicated button? I liked long press home. Now I don't have a quick way to search plus I haven't found a way to assign a long press action to any of them.

Once we have root it should be long press home button for recent apps, multitask button as menu button, and long press multitask for search. I miss voice search lol it was easier on an inspire

From what I can tell, by swiping the recent application does not close the application. I have opened several apps and then hit the home button then the recent applications button and swiped them... then opened up the apps again and they are right back where I left them. I think it only deletes the recent app bookmark and not closes the app itself.

ALPHA: Nyan kernel 3.X builds

Thank you bbelos for the port of kernel 3.x
This thread will contain test builds of a Nyan colonel built off of kernel 3.x. This does not currently have voodoo sound or over clock capabilities. This has a bunch of tweaks I have found and would like tested such as didle and other new things. This is based on the 3.x port by bbelos.
What does not work:
Vibration
4G WiMax
Compass
You need to put the following files on your SD card along with the kernel:
Download all files here besides zImage
Now you will need to download the test kernel. If it is named zImage.bin, rename it zImage:
6/3/12 9:49 EST: http://i.minus.com/1338785488/MLUAXU3KBgO9DEjDXcsUKA/iyU7MabwAtc4I
Flash boot_zImage_with_boot.zip in CWM or twrp and it should reboot into the kernel.
It should be mentioned the orientation sensor doesn't work either, although I'm not sure if it's just the auto-rotation feature that doesn't work or it won't even turn orientation when you want to change the orientation of your camera.
One question though: What are the benefits of the new kernel?

The screen orientation, oddly enough, is not handled by the orientation sensor. Or at least not in this case. It must be handled by the accelerometer. The orientation sensor is needed for things like compass apps, etc.

guess i missed all the "fun." pretty glad i did too. anyways, i still havent tried this kernel out. i'll try to give it a shot tonight. does it work with any ics rom or should i stick with cm while testing it now? and as far as the tweaks you mention in the OP, are they behind the scenes tweaks, or should i use a specific app to utilize them, like nstools for live OC and such on your other kernels? which i still dont really know how to use, lol. i just leave the live OC option at 100% on nstools. not sure what im sposed to use for the best performance or best battery tho. but ill go to the nyan v5 thread to ask about that stuff.

If I had a phone that didn't have the physical and/or capacitive buttons I would love it...Otherwise I have 2 sets of buttons doing the same thing...no dice.
I bought the S III because of the Home button. I like physical buttons. I'm surprised so many people post they like virtual buttons. My gut tells me this is a geek phenomenon and that most regular people would NOT like virtual buttons as much. Buttons are just more discoverable and quicker to use without looking. i.e. the car. And we as power users are a minority as customers. Maybe if S Voice was perfect I guess we wouldn't need physical buttons as much but that'll be a while before it happens. I have a feeling Samsung has studied this plenty and they know what they're doing..
As an example of what I mean by voice replacing buttons... I finally do not miss the camera button... CAPTURE! CHEESE! I LOOOOOOOOOOVE Touch Wiz!!! Lets you take pictures of stuff high above you and you can shout Capture in Jelly bean!!!

I saw my friends note 2 which had the multi window function basically you can have two windows up at the same time. I thought this was very useful and even better than what we have using halo. My favorite "feature" of PA is the look in settings with the tablet layout. Its shallow but I love the way it looks and its easy to adjust settings.
I never really used pie that much, it was just difficult for me.
I did like Halo because I am always using multi windows. GPS, Web browsing, gmail, or even FB and twitter. I always seem to have 2 things going on. Halo made it easier.
Bonestock hmm well that will be the first one I try. I love getting recommendations, because it can be a daunting task to figure out which rom to flash. Especially with 50+ tw roms.
