Hey guys, I have yet to get the Evo V 4G, but in about a week's time, chances are I'll have it up and running.
The thing is though, it's been officially out (it unofficially came out before June 10) for about 6 days now, and I have yet to see a new thred made for it.
I'm just wondering if there's going to be a new thread made for it, because I remember back when there was the ICS leak for the 3D and and since it had actually been for the V 4G it completely screwed up the 3D's that got it, so it only makes me wonder what happens if I get it and go wandering into the 3D section and accidently brick my shiny new phone.
Even if it's just another section of the 3D thread, like what they did with the Optimus 500 and the Optimus V that would work fine too. I'm merely wondering... (and hoping it happens)
I'd be interested in an Evo V 4G section as well

Wanted to know if there will be a forum started for the LG Optimus S. Have it rooted, and wanted to know if any devs will do work to get recovery working and start developing ROMs.
This would be Fantastic! Phones have gotten so big lately so the size, the 2.2 & the features along with the build quality have this at the top of my list for Cyber Monday. A modest speed increase would make this thing dreamy. I would love to get that file from you if you don't mind. I could do with out the recovery for now as it would still let me tether.

It took me few tries but got it to stick eventually. The link is http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s/43108-how-root-lg-optimus-s.html
great thanks! Rooted LG Optimus S is a reality a day after its released!
Oh this is cool! I just saw it in the store yesterday and it feels like a really solid phone. I hate that it doesn't have a hardware "d-pad", but I might be able to look past it given how smooth it operates. Now that it's rooted... awesome!

Seems like it might be worth giving it its own subforum.
Is that the same phone? The button layout is different...
Just flashed recovery image thats working. If anyone here is interested the link is http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-s/219777-need-dump-build-recovery.html
Doesn't seem to many developers here at xda are to much up on working on this particular phone at the moment. Hopefully they do, it is a great little phone that far exceeded my expectations.
ThunderRom v1.5

I take it the Optimus S is the same as the X2 (Dual Core Tegra)
If so, then Im the same. I plan on buying this phone next month (released end of Jan in the UK)...finally replacing my HTC HD2...but wouldnt buy it if there is no intrested from the Devs at XDA.
So whats the plan? Is the LG good enough for its own forum here?
Hell Yes it is. I hope they update us to GB(android 2.3) sometime soon

Absolutely not the same phone. The LG Optimus 2x is going to be the worlds first dual core processor. The screen is a 4" screen, camera is better, full HDMI out. The Optimus S/T is a great phone at a great price, but in my opinion it wuold be a downgrade from your HD2. I would suggest waiting for the Optimus 2x. That's going to be an amazing phone. I am sure it will get it's own forum.
Blame LG for not having a little bit of creativity. Come on, they have 4 widely different phones all named optimus. I think the Optimus 2x should be called the Megatron 2x!
It will still be nice if the Optimus had its category.
Hey All,
I am finnaly upgrade ready and have already sold my previous andriod device in the hopes that being stuck using a moto razr would modivate me to do some research on my next purchase. Boy has it, I never knew how dependant I have become of a smart phone. But, anyways my question is this. With the news of dual core offerings on the horizon should I tough it out with the Razr and get the deep discount for a 2xcore or pick up a Captivate for around 60 USD shipped. Honestly I know if I wait for the newest and best I will always be waiting because there is always something better being built when the old project goes retail. But, if its a month or two away............. see my dilema? I have found no hard release dates and I'm sure I wont till after the US holiday season is over. Any thoughts on this?
And yes in the poll dual is spelled incorrectly... but I cannot edit.
The Captivate is a nice phone; I have one... but it has a few issues with say the GPS, or mysterious shut downs that some people get, and some people don't. I still like mine, and am just waiting hopefully for an update or rom that'll fix everything.
Not sure about the other phones you're referring to though.
If you want dual core, you should wait for the LG Optimus 2X.
Swyped from my HTC Desire running Oxygen 1.0.4 with Tapatalk.
I completely agree with you. I've been through 3 phones since last July (2009) and have no idea what to do next. I went from a Blackberry I purchased in July of 09, then by december I made the switch to the G1. That sold me on Android. I fell in love. Months later of having the phone, the MyTouch Slide was introduced and I figured the G1 was getting severely outdated and since I didn't pay too much I'd go try that. I also wanted another touch screen phone with a full keyboard. Well, release day June 2010, I picked up the MyTouch Slide. Little did I know it would be abandoned at the start.
People will try to convince you stating tha the phone isn't abandoned, but for me I think it is. The phone was released in June with 2.1 and getting 2.2 seems more like a dream day by day. Yes, I'm rooted, but the phone has quirks and Tmobile was quick to release better phones soon after (G2 etc.) Now we have 2.3 released and 3.0 is already in development. So, if you ask me the MyTouch Slide is out of the picture (plus the HD came out almost immediately after.)
So now the question for me is do I wait a bit until I have the money for a Nexus S or do I wait it out for the Dual Core phones? Nexus S is supposed to be quite powerful and I'm all for a stock OS without the BS Tmo loads on their phones. So, I feel you on it. I haven't the slightest idea what to do next. Will a dual core phone be released mid-year? Q3ish or early 2012?
When will the Android 2.3 ROMs start showing up?
Soon as they get the bugs worked out
You can see working "tech demos" under the i9000 Galaxy forum as well as other Samsung forums.
AND... I think just about every other "major" brand of phone currently has someone working on it lol. Just need to browse around the dev forums and see if your phone has someone working on a port.
Thank you! I can't wait!!
Beat you guys to it
Sent from my HTC Hero CDMA on 2.3.2
Look at the post date, january 5th. There are 2.3 ROMs out now for many phones, I don't think this question needed to be revived. :/
When will my motorola milestone will get 2.3!!!!
I really hope that hTC doesnt drag their feet on getting me 2.3 for my Incredible!
I would guess that 2.3 is still quite a ways off from manufacturer releases.
Hello all! The last time I was really active on here were the days of the HTC Kaiser! Every model under the kaiser was under the same section, making things very easy and universal. However we have an entirely different section for the Thrill 4G. Can't everything and anything (including Roms and tools) from this section work just fine on the LG Thrill? I've noticed there's quite a few more roms available here as compared to the Thrill Section, and it seems like it would be easy to miss important info and updates when the sections are divided like this. Is there something I'm missing?
Anyway, today my thrill arrives! I can't wait to get it!
You must be ... thrilled ehhhhhh???! Ehhh?!
LG Optimus 3D (T-Mobile/P920)
lol
good question, I never really understood the reason either.
Apps and themes should pretty much work for both versions.
Accessories, same thing. Same shape, same input and output stuff, basically, the same accessories.
General, most of the stuff they talk about applies to this phone too. Wont' have a problem being together.
Android Development section. Would make sense to be different. Though differnet subforum only since apparently Thrill can flash Optimus3D roms anyway. Keep them close together.
I agree...
the only thing that breaks when you flash O3D rom on Thrill is MMS and 4G. MMS is easy to fix, fixing 4G breaks dialer app I am sure somebody will eventually come up with a solution to that.
Hello guys new to forums but have a easy question, i recently got a EVO 3d and love the phone but really want ICS, played around on a friends phone that has it, its not yet available for the evo 3d but was told may be able to flash my phone to it before its released, is there a guide somewhere to tell me how to perform this task? if so could ya be so kind as post a link Thx.
