hello friends
when i wanna install a new rom on xoom and make a wipe, does it wipe also the internal storage? thanks in advance
Thru recovery, wiping cache and dalvik are enough to install a new rom.
Wiping data will wipe the data partition (/data) but sdcard remains intact.
Hope this helps.

Yep, what ever files you have in your internal storage (like music and movies), those should stay safe when doing a data wipe. Apps and their data however will be obliterated during one. That is why you back them up with an application like Titanium Backup. Get the PRO version if you can.
And another note: Most of the time, if you are switching between similar roms (For example Team EOS Nightly 109 -> Team EOS Nightly 110), then a simple cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe should be fine before you are set to flash. But if you are switching distros (For example Team EOS Nightly 110 -> AOKP Build 39), then a data wipe is a must.

so from what i understand that music and pics on internal wont be touched (not sd card ,internal) right?
Yes. They remain as mentioned by yosterwp.

I have bounced back and forth between my share of ROMS, EOS and CM9 mainly, and have never lost pics or music. When I update nightly I rarely do a full data wipe, only if change going from one developers ROM to another, or if my Xoom gets at all buggy.

Hey guys,
Question from a noob here. When exactly should you wipe data and cache?
I noticed that when I recently installed the gala x theme from rom manager before the install I was given 2 options. Make a back up and wipe data and cache. I went ahead and of course made a back up but chose not to wipe data and cache.
What is the right thing to do?
Thanks in advance
no one???? Some one must know.
If you are on a clean rom with no themes and your installing a new theme then no. The only time you need to wipe date and cache is if you are going from one rom to another. The reason for that is because of conflicting info.
So yes you are good if just adding a new theme

Just a side note here; I wipe my cache weekly. I noticed my phone getting slow after the 2.2 OTA. Also, I got all kinds of FC's and other problems. I wiped my cache ONLY and it fixed all of my problems. Your system will rebuild the cache again as needed, so the first load may take a little longer, but there is less junk to sort through, so it's quicker to load on the next request. Oh, and as long as you do NOT wipe the data you won't lose anything.
Would it be advisable to wipe data and cache before restoring a back up?
What kind data is deleted with "Wipe data" ?
I come from fixed sbf, because of black screen and white led.
After that I had internal memory 128mb.
Tried Factory reset and Wipe data, nothing.
I tried to do according to the Beginners guide.
But after installing CM7, and kernel Froyo and Gapps, there is not said, that wipe data is needed (in cm7 instructions).
So I got stuck on the Google logo screen.
Once again, from the beginning with fixed sbf.
Does it make difference, because I have 128mb internal memory or is Cache somewhere else? In ram ?
Hi everyone,
I have TF101 with the Team EOS JellyBean ROM,
When I try to open the Play Store or download files in the browser, I get force close of "Android.Process.Media" and then the store/browser force closes too.
Any help would be much appreciated as I can't install apps on my tablet currently.

Go to settings ->applications->all
scroll down to "Google services framework" and clear cache and data, now scroll down to play store and wipe cache and data again... just for good measures wipe data from all Google related apps...
Now restart and go to recovery->advanced->fix permissions-> wipe dalvik cache and cache and restart your tablet... this should work....
If doesn't then wipe everything and reinstall the from from scratch....

I just tried this and after the reboot I was still getting the force close, so I reinstalled the ROM and the problem was still there. Don't know what to do.
I am also confused as when I install a different jellybean ROM, my home screen layouts are all still the same, even if I wipe the system.

What recovery r u using ? Try TWRP... download TWRP AND INSTALL IT by flashing it through recovery.....
1) wipe your external SD CARD CLEAN
2) copy say AOSP JB and TWRP to your now clean SD card
3) go to recovery and flash TWRP first and reboot again into recovery.
4) now wipe system, cache, dalvik, system and internal memory using wipe option
5) now flash ASOP JB and once done just wipe dalvik and restart...
Hopefully this should work....

Go to twrp-> wipe-> system wipe, dalvik wipe, cache wipe, internal memory wipe and format system... these will clean your tablet of any old android files and its totally clean.. now go under storage and mounts and mount storage and format storage after these steps reinstall.. I'm running on AOSP without any issues...

Should I try a different JB ROM instead of the Team EOS one? Could you link to the thread with the one you use possibly?

Did you flash harmony kernel... ? Do exactly what I say, when you go to twrp recovery flash harmony kernel and restart and get back into recovery... now go to wipe and wipe everything expect external memory ( cache, dalvik, system, internal memory) after all these now flash the AOSP JB ROM and wipe dalvik/cache after installation.. now flash superuser which you downloaded from the link within AOSP... important is try AOSP ROM WITH HARMONY KERNEL... leave team EOS JB for now...

If you talking about just the wallpaper (green leaf wallpaper ) p, then green wallpaper is same for both ROMs as its the default wallpaper of JB... go to settings and find out what ROM you running on... also try clearing data of applications which are FCing....

I did all of the wipes in the order you said, I flashed the harmony kernel and the AOSP JB ROM, and still get all the force closing of android.process.media.
I selected the orange canyon kind of wallpaper when I was in Team EOS and when the AOSP ROM booted, it was that wallpaper. Even though I know it should be the leaf one. All my widgets were still there too. Even though in the settings menu it said it was running on the AOSP ROM.
Hey guys,
Yesterday i rooted my TF101 for the first time, because i wanted to test some 4.2. Roms on the Transformer. No i have some questions:
1.) How can i do a full wipe in TWRP before i flash a new Custom Rom ?? I cant find it there. So i had done a factory reset, wipe system, Format internal storage. Is this OK or should i do it in a different way?
2.) Can i change the "inverted scrolling" when i'm using the Dock? I like the normal scrolling much more. I'm using the EOS4 Rom with the KAT kernel.
I hope you can help me...
Sry guys for some mistakes. My english is not the best
Felix
To do a full wipe. Wipe the System, then do a factory reset (wipes cache, Davlik cache and /data/ excluding /data/media/). The only unwiped part is the data/media (internal /sdcard/)
If you want to wipe that, there is an internal storage wipe option.
For the touchpad, open the EOS Settings. Top right change from Interface to System
Device Settings
Touchpad Mode
Trackpad
AW: Some questions from a root beginner
Okay thank you. So when i flash a rom its better to wipe the internal storage?
Overclocked my tab to 1,4 Ghz and its pretty fast now.
But why is my score for the 3d graphics so low ?
Wiping the entire internal is not always necessary, but you definitely want to do a factory reset (uninstall all the apps) when flashing different ROMs. If not, remannts of one ROM can lead over into another and cause app crashes and force closes that are annoying.
When upgrading to a newer version of the same ROM it is not necessary, you can just wipe the caches and install the ROM.
I personally do not worry about benchmarks. Does it feel fast to you? If so, then it is all good.

I also prefer to wipe the system as well when switching roms. I even like to upon updating the same rom. I ususally wipe system and cache for that. I also wipe dalvik cache when changing kernels.
Hello
I have rooted my HTA Explorer and it was working fine then i flash custom rom MIUI then after i flash Cyanogenmod 9 build of 2012, it was also working good then i install stock rom just to check if i want to go back it was also working fine then i flash cyanogenmod 9 build 14 then it starts giving error like camera not loaded , cannot start calander etc.
I again flashed many roms randomly but my internal memory is only 23 mb left, I have checked through diskusage it says system data is 100 mb but there is no application installed.
I always wipe factory data reset and wipe cache partition before flashing new rom, i have also tried format data ,cache from mounts and storage but still i got only 23 mb available after flashing.
Now i am at my original backup of stock rom and if i flash cyanogenmod 9 it gives me error due to low internal memory.
I gues there is any old rom's data is still placed in my internal memory which needs to be wiped off, Please help me in this.
I have now use superwipe and installed cynogenmod 9 now it shows total space 150mn apps 26.99 and available 56.66 where is the rest 64.35mb ????
MODS
please help me out this .... if this is not th right place to ask then kindly move the thread to where it can be answered.

So I have a Nexus 4 With Stock 5.1 as my primary (Internal) ROM And CM12.1 as a secondary ROM. I was hoping to be able to wipe /system and then use CM as my primary ROM. I can't swap Primary and Secondary via TWRP due to limited space. Because if I was able to wipe /system, that should give me enough space make CM my primary.
Also, would a factory reset also wipe my 2nd ROM too? Because I was thinking of factory resetting my phone to make space so I could swap but I was just wondering if it wipes my 2nd ROM because I have already copied my data over with Titanium Backup.
P.S. I have backups stored on my PC just in case something goes wrong.
Thanks in advance :good:

Have you tried asking in the Multirom thread for your device?
