[Q] Framework editing - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Does anyone know what file I need to edit to make the notification drop down more transparent? I'm running Embryo 3.2, and I believe that it's one of the framework files from the S3 launcher, but I'm not sure which one.
I want to make some edits to customize it more for my own liking.
An additional question...does anyone know the color code for ICS Blue?

Anyone? This is really driving me nuts. I'm looking through all of the files that I think have the right PNGs in them, and I see some that seem to fit the right names/images, though I wish I knew which ones controlled which images. Some look like they should, in terms of the filename, but don't match what I'm seeing...
I miss the old days

Surely the S2 forums contain an answer, I would imagine at least.
It's not the usual system ui, tw, and framwork res huh?

It might be, but I can't seem to find the right files. For example, the only close PNG I see is nowhere near what I see on my own phone. With the presence of those 3 files (and perhaps more) I don't know which one I should edit.

Its in the xml's

So I have to edit the XML's now to theme my phone?
Wow...when did that change. I used to be able to change the PNGs and re-insert them into the apk files with no problems...

XML is what declares color and transparancy of status bar if memory serves its been that way on most phones for a long time

Not looking to theme the status bar itself, just the notification dropdown and the icons on the status bar.
On my Droid 1, you had to edit the Services.jar if you wanted to change the color of the status bar itself, but it was a simple png edit within framework-res.apk if you wanted to change the dropdown color/transparency or any of the icons up there (signal, wifi, etc).

That's correct I misinterpreted what you were trying to do that's my bad
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2

You need to be looking in SystemUI. apk, that's where notification drop down background and quick panel icons live.
Btw, there are many duplicates, original ics and tw versions.

Having a problem, i have been trying to make the notification pulldown transparent and i made the png transparent, but now it just shows a black background. So i'm assuming there is a second background controled by a xml file or another png. Does anyone know what i have to edit to get it fully transparent?

it's not an xml edit... you just need to resize the png to fit. it uses a small png and tiles it. so just resize it to 480x800 and you're cool. i've been modding those far a long time.

[Q] Ongoing event, Dropdown text color problems

I've installed/customized a theme exactly as I want with Black status bar, and black pulldown background with white text. I properly Deodexed and used the compatible services.jar, however, the following events still show up with black text in the dropdown list:
-In-Call timer status
-Download Progress
-Any item that is an event in progress
I've tried 4 different services.jar and all of them had the same problem, I tried editing the status bar XML files, only to have the phone refuse to load.
I notice 90% of themes leave the dropdown tabs gray, and I assume this is the reason, but does anyone have the files necessary to make all text in the dropdown white?
If you want to attach your framework-res.apk I can give this a go. I'm pretty sure this is in the /res/layout/status_bar_latest_notification.xml file or something titled similiarly.
Anyways.... I can give you some help if wanted...
I've attached my framework-res.apk, let me know what you can do. Thank You!
No problem. I will give this a go after work.

In looking at your framework...is this the current framework that you thought SHOULD have the white text? Or a unmodified framework. In looking at it...it looks like the text should be white... At least from what theming I have done... You have white (ffffff) set in the correct places for the dropdown notification bar in /res/layout/status_bar_latest_event_content.
What ROM/theme are you using? Also are you on the 2.3.34 update? i'm still on 2.3.15... So I don't want to throw a framework on my phone that may cause issues =?
If you can give me some more info... I was digging through it tonight.
Thanks
I am using the 2.3.340 firmware, standard rom but rooted and deodexed.
I used that exact framework with 2.3.15 with the same issue. My theme is nearly perfect except for that, so it's kind of annoying.
Hm... I'll keep looking over it. So this current framework SHOULD have white text but didn't?
Try also looking at the styles.xml and colors.xml in the /res/layout folder. I.m winning if things need to match up and something in one of those files is overwriting your white color

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the services.jar hold the information to change the colors in the drop down events?

I'm pretty sure it just controls color for the clock, ticker, and the "titles" for the sections in the drop-down such as "latest" or "ongoing". It doesn't actually change the text color of notifications in the drop down.
Can u help me too
I had this issue with derezzed too, a lot of ongoing event text colors are controlled by each individual application (something I saw with dropbox and facebook uploads) so the options are to either customize each application as you get it, ignore the unreadable text, or simply change the .png to a different color that provides a similar feel while being able to read black text... or another artsy thing would be to use rounded corners to make each notification look like an individual bubble instead of a continuous pane
edit:
totally didnt see how old this post was... oops

[Q]white notification bar.

so i've searched for a white notification bar and i cant seem to find one for this device.
i tried to just invert the colors on a black bar theme, but it didnt do anything to the bar and just made all the icons black(and invisible).
anybody know anything about a white bar?

So.. I'm guessing you already know how to properly modify the files for your ROM. The file you want to look for to modify and make white is "statusbar_background.png" ...Some roms this file name will also contain a ".9" in the name.
If this is the case, the .9 pngs HAVE to be modified a certain way, as the .9 means that they contain special instructions, for text, icons, and stretching. If you are not sure how to fix a .9 png, you can send me the file. I'll make it white, and send it back.

[MOD] Transparent Enabled Notification/Statusbar Sprint OTA 4.22

Hey gang!
I was perusing the Themes and Apps Section for the Evo 4g and noticed a couple trends. A lot of the themes and mods are for the ports of late, which is awesome! But I know some of you are very happy with the Sense 1.0 with GB that we've received recently (OTA 4.22). While I prefer the Sense 2.1 with GB Roms myself, I want to provide mods and themes for all sorts of stuff. The other trend I noticed was that a few flashers wanted transparency. Everyone loves transparency, right? With Gingerbread, as many devs and themers have found out, theming is much more ingrained in dex code than previous issues of Android OS. No worries, there are some smart cookies floating around.
Well, I just wanted to upload this for the folks out there who would like to start theming or want to incorporate transparent Statusbar and Notification Area but are not quite familiar with smali/baksmali and xml editing. I have uploaded deodex and odex versions of the mod.
Here is exactly what I did in general terms.
used baksmali to decompile the SystemUI.odex
edited two lines in "com/android/systemui/statusbar/StatusBarService.smali"
used smali to compile the smali folder back to classes.dex
made the statusbar 100% transparent (just for sample purposes, ie it can any level of transparency, not necessarily clear) but PhotoShopping "statusbar_background" in SystemUI.apk/res/drawable-hdpi
used apktool to decompile SystemUI.apk
made the notifications text white instead of black by editing values
made the notification area a transparent black instead of stock white
I think that is all that I did...
This little mod was by request and I can't guarantee that everything is 100%. I should also note that the ROM I used to was xHausx's stock odex rom as found HERE. Thanks xHAUSx! I figure this one would be as stock as it gets, and also the requester is using this ROM.
Let me know how it goes. I do not to take credit for actually coming up with the mod for transparency for Gingerbread. That smali hack should be credited to KBanause. What I did was make it work for the Evo and also inverted the text color a little bit. I also do not take credit for broken devices. Please Nandroid.
Sorry for the long post!
Deodex download
Odex Download
Thanks Tom, I will let you know how things go.

Well...it works, and it looks nice on my home screen, but the white icons and stuff make it impossible to read the notification bar in some apps like gmail. Still cool though
p.s. This was on Fresh 4.1.1.0 btw
Would it be difficult to make it play nice with this status bar mod? The only thing that remains after flashing your mod over his is the battery percentage. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys. I'm sorry but I do not use this ROM, and thus it will be difficult for me to make mods for it.
I only wanted to release this so peeps can do it with their flavor. Maybe one of the other themers who use this Rom like rydah can fill these requests.
I do however, agree with the white icons being too white.

Love the mod. We just need the status bar up top solid black while having the dropdown transparent. I'll take a look at it and see what I can come up with . I'm good with xmls not smalis.

Let me ask you. What Rom are you using? Also, if you using stock Rom, you're likely on 4.24 ota. This was made for 4.22.

I'm using MikG which is using 4.24 OTA. It's Sense 2.1 so I guess no go. What would be the best way to replicate your theme? I know how to replace the background png but I don't know how to edit scripts or anything for the font color change.

Once you make it transparent... It's transparent everywhere... It's just that some apps aren't designed to be full screen so their background doesn't expand behind the status bar. This then leaves a blank black background behind the transparent status bar making it appear as if it is solid

I get what your saying but I am referring to the statusbar anywhere outside of TouchWiz, for example the lockscreen, they are ALL just the standard black. I've had it transparent throughout before and I have seen it in other themes. Here is a theme that has it, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1820492, I just do not want the overall look of that one. The only thing I did so far was modify XML color setting to transparent in one area.
There is a png in systemui that you can make transparent. It may or may not be named differently from ROM to ROM. I've found making that transparent works for me. If you are using a theme, that theme's systemui may override it.

If you want to link to an image so you can make it easy to test out and swap try this... This was the method used by mentose457 on beans but should be similar on most Touchwiz ROMs
You have to edit three xmls: tw_status_bar.xml, tw_super_status_bar.xml and drawables.xml
In tw_status_bar.xml you have to tell it to look for an image instead of a color for the background.
In line 2 change:
Code:
android:background="#ff000000"
to
Code:
android:background="@drawable/stat_bar_bg"
...where stat_bar_bg is the name of you image without the extension.
In the other two xmls you need to set the background to transparent. All you have to do is change the hex codes to #00000000.
Save. Recompile. Zip. Flash. Enjoy.

Most definitely... I have come across other threads discussing this same idea and some said it could not be done and others said it only works if using a live wallpaper on the home and lock screens. I can confirm that the lock screen works with a transparent status bar IF a live wallpaper is used but not within any other apps that are not TouchWiz.
