Singh UI on the LG G2x...No Go! - T-Mobile LG G2x

Just flashed the Chinese mod of MIUI to my LG G2x. Can't make any phone calls. Receiving or Outgoing calls sound like a helicopter. I couldn't load the rom at first until I factory reset. Odd...I know. Now, I'm attempting to factory reset so that I can uninstall the rom but it continues to load a fresh image. USB mount doesn't function correctly either (-___-). Wish meh luck! Any help would be most appreciated. Attempting to return to stock so that I can flash the original MIUI rom.

Sounds like a baseband issue

You dont follow instructions and blame the rom.. you upgraded your baseband and flashed wrong rom so that fause voice disturbance and static... 2) when you switch from factory rom you need to wipe before installing custom rom.. 3) make sure you are using cwm 5.0.2.0. The boot issue is known with touch recovery due to no support for ext4.. please dont flame the rom for yor mistakes, you just turn away devs with such eratic behavior.

I just recently installed G2X-SINGH-UI, it was my first try, and I had the exact same issue with the chopper sound when I made, and received calls.
I knew i did something wrong, but I didn't know what it could have been, but I see now it had something to do with me not wiping the correct rom. So, my question is, how do I go about "wiping" my ROM? I have the latest cwm, I have P999V21y, 2.3.4. I messed my phone up to the point it wouldn't turn on, so now I have another one, and I loved the G2X-SINGH-UI so much (with the little time I had to check out all of it's awesomeness), that i'd like to give it a go again, but this time take the proper steps to insure i don't not mess this one up. Thank.

[Q] reboot loop

My g2x keeps rebooting over and over again! This happened after i mounted it to my pc. it tries to read my sd card then just reboots over and over again. I have nv flash and tried to restore old back up but still does it. can any one help im thinking i need to flash stock.
you need to do a factory reset if your nandroid backup doesn't work. if that doesn't work reflash the rom.
I already did a factory reset and wipe and tried to re install the rom. it just continues to reboot. It starts up and if quick i can get into my lock screen and access things but within seconds it reboots and continues to do that
What rom are you using?

I was hoping it was something simple like undervolting with a custom rom. I wish I could help. It sounds like you tried everything I would recomend. Maybe one of the real Android techie type guys can help you. I am still learning myself.

Thanks anyway! I even when as far as to re-flash stock recovery and then try to factory reset it but still did not work. I just dont know what the heck happened. So today I went to t-mobile and they r sending me a new phone and for know I have a loaner 10 days until I get the new phone they said it was backordered. oh well

Help!!! Shift is making me sick!!!

I NEED YOUR HELP!!!
I have a Shift that is making me sick
Here is the dilema:
I am able to perm root the phone but I cannot for the life of me get it to take a custom rom. I also cannot get the phone to revert to stock. I have tried RUU, I have tried PG06IMG.ZIP ... I have searched left and right, day and night .. I am ready to chuck this phone at the next person I see walking down the street!!!
I don't know what to do I just want to be able to flash custom roms and if I need to return to stock .. but I can't. All it does is go back to stock rom but it does not wipe any of my data, it stays unlocked and my banner stays the same. I have noticed my PRL keeps changing from what I have flashed, which is fine this one seems to be better.
Also it seems as if my recovery is not wiping dalvic and there is no stock recovery .. which maybe normal. I have tried everything I can think of .. any suggestions besides blind siding an innocent bystander with this hunk of junk!!??
Running 2.2 on 1.17.651.1
I just want to return to stock so I can start all over and try to get this to run customs.. at least. But before you say flash this PG06IMG.ZIP (234mbs) or RUU .. please note that I have tried. Unless yours has magical powers I have flashed it. It won't work.. I have tried factory reset, format all except sd card... I might just try that for the hell of it. Please help

I WAS ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY SETUP ... IF YOU ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM AND ARE HAVING TROUBLE LIKE I WAS.
HERE IS THE SOLUTION:
Make sure you have the latest recovery. I had clockwork 2.0.5 I think was the version, it was not wiping dalvic or something this is what was causing all my hair to fall out.
I downloaded Rom manager and flashed clockwork recovery, the recovery now is updated to version 5.0 or something like that. I can now say it works and saved some poor innocent person from being pegged in the back of the head from a flying shift .. XD

The problem is all newer ROMs use Amend scripting which CWM prior to 3.0 doesn't support.

I give up! Ready to Root!!

On my 4th G2x. Same problems as the others. Reboots on its on, sleep of death. In fact this morning I was talking on phone and it shut down. I had to remove battery and reboot.
I called Customer Service that has always been super nice. This time they said, oh, since this is your 4th and this one just in 6 days I can't help you I have to send you to Tech. The Tech guy basically said "known software problem, sending replacement won't do any good. Can't give you different phone. Maybe it is your SD card and apps you have loaded. He actually told me Facebook app could cause it to shut down. Said to reset to factory, remove SD card and use it for 3 days with no apps. After 3 days if all is well then start adding apps. I asked what if it has problems during the 3 days? He said, 'there is nothing we can do. I will report this to LG and they will send out an update. I don't know when but they will update the software".
WTH?! So I am done. I will do the root. Now i just need to read all these great threads to figure out how and which version! Wish i could just pay one of you to do it for me!
Thanks for letting me rant.
I've been running stock since August with no issues but I really wanted the LG Camera app so I installed CWR and flashed the WeaponX rom with no issues. Everything works and it's even smoother then stock Gingerbread. Just follow the directions to the T and the process should take less than fifteen minutes if you have all your files ready to go.
Enjoy!

Thanks! Which directions did you follow? There are a number of threads here.
The directions are a bit confusing as they reference other threads and then have comments stating this step is now obsolete. etc. Seems like I first need to get the ROM Manger?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager.license&feature=search_result
Correct?
i followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060715 and was fine. this was my first root as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
I used this method to NvFlash and install Clockwork recovery which is the basic software you need in order to flash ROMs. You do not need ROM Manager. Once you've done the NvFlash and installed CWR you can copy your ROMs to the SD card or phone storage and flash through Clockwork Recovery. Make sure you backup your stock install through CWR prior to flashing anything new so you can return the phone to a usable state.
As always follow the directions verbatim, some steps take time as well. Also make sure your battery is 100% charged... If it dies during any portion of the process bad things can happen.
I had all of those issues until I flashed cm7... then the issues became very minimal... I once had 8 reboots in a day on stock rom, during phone calls and everything... You are definitely taking a step in the right direction
P.S. my wife has completely stock phone on stock rom and has Facebook app with no issues, she just got lucky I guess
To OP: do you have 2.2 or 2.3 installed as your stock rom... read carefully there are different instructions for both
Never use ROM Manager. Even if it worked perfectly on our phone I still would never recommend it. I've seen it cause more harm than good.
Anyways, you don't even technically need root to flash a ROM.
Just NVFlash CWM. After that you can upgrade to the latest CWM via ADB. Then flash your desired ROM. I suggest CM7.
yeah, you know ROM manager... now forget it. Use NVflash and clockwork
I got myself in trouble!
I followed instructions and all went well. I installed the GB, no problems. No I was brave so I thought I would try the Cyanogen mod. It too installed fine. I don't like it. Now i can't get rid of it! I tried reinstalling the GB and the cyanogen won't go away! i tried restore to factory, but it won't go away!!

Then just wipe and flash a new ROM.
Make sure you wipe data, cache, dalvik then format system before flashing new ROM.
Clearly I am a dunce.
I uninstalled the driver on pc. Did a reinstall. Flashed ROM again. Installed GB zip. rebooted and the dang Cyanogen MOD is still there!
I even went over all steps again, this time flashing back to stock. Still Cyanogen MOD is boots up

i remember, I followed this video.
http://theunlockr.com/2011/05/03/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-the-t-mobile-g2x/
to install a new rom
remember: (once you've copied the zip on sd card, power the phone to enter into clockwork and steps)
1. back up and restore
2. wipe data/ factory reset
3. install zip from sd card
so far, it hasn't failed me
you can skip the first one, but shouldn't
Just download Weapon if you want to go back to stock. Its Stock with a few needed tweaks and fixes. Very stable and no issues.
G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
The reboot issue were in all my G2X(3). Only rom that fixed that was Weapon G2X. Running a custom rom is the way to go with this phone, otherwise you'll go through 100 replacements with same issues.
Today I did an exchange for my brother's line which he has the G2X and the rep told me I could get a brown color G2X because they no longer carry original color or a Sensation. (Not sure what he was talking about brown color because I thought all G2X were the same color other than the white floating around)
So I decided to just get the Sensation, I know it's got issues of it's own, but will give it a shot because I want the G2X to just be a memory of the past.
This phone could have been a beast, but will never live to it's full potential.
Good luck and if you need to exchange again and you don't mind getting a Sensation I would suggest bringing that up to the rep.

If you screw up and can't boot up, ROM manager cannot get you into recovery. Only an NV flashed clockworkmod recovery will boot up in the event of a boot loop.

You don't have recovery with Rom Manager, yeah it flashes all the roms but if you get into a bootloop or worse then you are SOL.

Rom manager works just fine. However, like previously said, you just need to NVFlash first for safety reasons.
From a complete stock G2x, NVFlash, Nandroid Backup, and flash a previously downloaded rom (Weapon or CM7 or MIUI or Eaglesblood or any of the other wonderful roms). Custom roms have root so THEN you can go to town with Rom Manager.
I use Rom Manager as my primary flashing service because it not only downloads them, but will automatically reboot into recovery, perform your desired wipe options, and flash. With CM7 it will automatically check for the latest GAPPS and flash it too in one fowl swoop.
Just have to NVFlash first.
I NVFlashed my neighbors G2x the day he got it and, while he didn't want to try custom roms just yet, we did a Nandroid Backup just for laughs. Now he's running MIUI.

[Q] Install Sean's new stock speed ROM. Now can't answer phone calls!

Noticed a couple of things when I installed the latest ROM with the phone answering calls:
It will make a ringing sound, but the phone will not light up on a ring. Checked everything in settings and I can't figure out what the problem is
I can't find ANY way to answer the phone. No little icons pop up for me to press and the phone icon just brings up the dial pad.
No caller ID screen pops up.
As-is, the ROM is fairly useless as I can only make outgoing calls on the phone. More than likely I'm doing something f***ed up. HELP!
Just do fresh install!

Which version of the ROM should I use? Is there a better/more stable ROM from either Sean or someone else?
All of his are pretty stable. You need to do a fresh install make sure to follow the instructions sean posted in with the roms and you should be fine. I'm running his ics stock myself.
I'll try it again. I was very careful to follow the instructions to the letter to avoid bricking my phone. Can anyone provide a link to the most updated files and instructions so that I can be sure I'm doing it right?
try flashing darkwipe first, then this
ARe you sure you didnt mean darkside?
correction, darkside lol
So, since I'm new to this, what's the procedure, including flashing darkside (what does it do anyway)? Don't want to brick the phone!
Flashing Darkside wipe will wipe your phone and just install rom. If you wanna know how to flash rom than go to the link in my Sig and scroll down!

Who still has the "Turning Off" problem and who solved it?

How did you revert back your ROM? And how do you do an upgrade? Is it by flashing .zip from recovery of by KDZ method? If by .zip from recovery I believe you did it wrong since ding it that way is not include flashing baseband.
Wipe dalvik cache, Wipe battery stats, wipe cache partition and full wipe/factory reset from recovery. Then flashing.
Proper method to upgrade/downgrade is using KDZ method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236
It will install the ROM and the baseband. After that don't restore any application yet. Check it first, is it still shutdown? Is it still no signal? Is it still have battery drain problem? If it is, then it's a hardware failure. Send it to LG Service centre.

Man nothing against you, I know you wanna help, so thx for that, but I'm trying to get advanced help, all these common things aren't any problem and I know almost everything about them. I am asking if anybody succeeded to get rid of the shut down problem and if anybody else had signal loss after reverting back to froyo ? And the main reason why I started the thread, is because I know that there was the reboot issue on froyo and the shut down problem on ginger and this was a serial bug
