Att HTC one x unlocked possible to work with tmobile 3g or 4g?? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I have a att one x I unlocked it to work with tmo currently getting terrible edge speeds any way I can get 3g or 4g data speeds?

HTC disabled aws support so no. But it looks like tmobile is rolling out iphone compatible hspa bands in some of their markets.

There are some people that have speculated (maybe just hopeful optimism) that hardware support for AWS is there, just not enabled in software, and that some hack such as a custom radio can enable it. Search around, and you will find a thread about this.
But presently, no, there is no way to get 3G/4G service on T-Mobile with this phone.

Okay thanks a lot and btw do u know when the hspa bands are gonna rolled out and also where is the thread for the topic on the one x cause I would deff root to get 3g

I remember reading it would take them until the end of next year to get half of their network flipped over.

Oh wow that's long haha think there will be any work arounds cause I know there was something like this for the galaxy note where it would work on tmobile 4g with a custom root and Rom

The Galaxy Note works because you can flash the radio for the T-Mobile Galaxy SII because they were the same SoC. It could be possible by flashing a radio from the One S but you can't flash radios without S-Off.

Actually, you can flash radios on the one x without s-off. We've been doing it for a couple weeks if you check out the radio thread in the dev section.
As to flashing a one s radio...good luck?

Yea we can flash radios with the hox as long as you have a unlocked bootloader

Can anyone confirm that flashing the TMo ONE S radio is a no-no? I'm about to get an AT&T HOX and would like to know if this is possible first.
Thanks in advanced.

I flashed the One S radio, got higher ping at best, but obviously as said before, no 3g/4g.

getting better up speed?

so I have this phone on ATT, and I switched from the atrix to this. I put the sim card from my atrix into this and i cant get anything above 100 kbps up, seems wayyy to slow...wondering if it has something to do with the throttling ATT did for the Atrix? I changed my phone on my online profile, but I don't know what else to do to get decent speeds...any ideas?

It's not the T-mobile version.... its the 9020A which works on ATT 3g.....
I hear that you will need to flash a new radio for the ATT version. I believe KD3 will help with your speed. Where did you get the NS?

Galaxy S II Skyrocket on Tmobile 3g?

Hi, I have been reading some posts in the Radio thread reporting that they are using the T-mobile Modem. It was unclear whether they had it working on the T-mobile network or just using the modem on the ATT network.
Is there anyone here using the Galaxy S II Skyrocket on T-mobiles 1700Mhz AWS 3G band and getting internet and sms and everything no problem?
I just want to make sure before I go out and purchase one for a lot of money and not have it working.
Yup I believe that the Skyrocket and the TMO SII are the same phone or at least have the same radio
Yes, you can use the t-mobile modem on the skyrocket and connect to t-mobile 3g. There are people on xda that have done this and confirmed working. The modem chipsets are different though.
There is one thing though. The skyrocket modem (mdm9200) supports 700/1700/2100 on LTE which is the same frequency that t-mobile uses on 3G. My concern is that although it will work since it is the same frequency, the skyrocket modem uses the 700/1700 band for LTE and not 3G, but 2100 for 3G and LTE. The t-mobile sgs2 uses the mdm8220 which supports 1700/2100 for 3G. I don't know enough about the particular power/design differences to say if this is a safe thing to do for extended periods of time. I heard of a few people having problems with their modems after flashing tmob modem on their skyrocket. Don't know if it's connected to the hardware differences.. just a caution. Make sure you have warranty or insurance coverage before you try
I'm going to buy the phone secondhand and thus I will not have warranty or any return policy hence I am worried. I wanted to make sure that it works before I go out and purchase the phone.
Were the people having problems the people who were still on the ATT network? I plan on using the phone strictly on the T-mobile network which I hear is also going to be putting out 1900Mhz 3G in certain markets due to the failed ATT merger and I happen to be in one of those large markets.
I have seen this question more than once but never an answer to why...with the two phones being nearly identical, what is the draw causing some tmo users to want the 727 over the 989?

Around here it is cheaper and also I hope that the phone will work with non-smartphone data plans on T-mobile because T-mobile locks out their own smartphones to certain data plans.
As I've said, others have reported it to be working. However, I don't think there are enough people doing this to give a clear idea if the tmob modem is having any adverse effects on the skyrocket modem. Maybe open a poll thread to get a better idea?
One of my customers came in with an unlocked and rooted sky rocket, any idea as to how to get it off our edge?

This is for everyone.
IT HAS TO RUN A TMOBILE SGS II MODEM. The radio has the capability, but the modem.bin for the SR doesn't activate AWS/2100. Flashing a T-Mobile modem will fix that though.

Sprint LTE devices will work on 1900MHz PCS frequencies. Verizon LTE works on 700MHz. Even with correct apn's it still would not work due to the massive difference in spectrum setup.

It would be nice to know how to do this. Vzw to sprint and sprint to vzw. A lot of us live in areas that will not see 4g of any variety anytime during our current and probably next contracts. So if a phone would still operate on 3g, it could be worth it. If someone knows how to do this, please tell

Information is conflicting, but some specs for the AT&T One X list the AWS band (1700/2100 MHz) used by T-Mobile for 3G/4G. Its not supported in software, but some have speculated (maybe wishful thinking) that the hardware is there, and something just needs to be changed in software to make it work.
This was the case with the Galaxy Note. AWS is not officially supported, but the hardware is actually there, and one of the folks here on XDA was able to hack it to work.
Its not a sure bet whether such a thing is possible on the AT&T One X. Seems largely speculation for the time being. Unless it really happens, using the One X on EDGE seems like a poor compromise. The One S doesn't have nearly as nice a screen, but same chipset, and still a nice phone. And if I were on T-Mob, I would certainly consider it.

Hmm... Ok well I will gladly eat the words as I am all about devices being able to work with the broadest number of carriers...
The ability to do that is rare but perhaps the most recent chipsets have all the radio components there to make it only a SW issue...

This has only been the case on the Galaxy Note, that I'm aware. And a (somewhat skeptical) "maybe" on the One X.
I think its less of a "recent chipset" thing, and more an indication of market forces at the time. My hunch is that it had something to do with the (now defunct) merger deal between AT&T and T-Mobile. As both these phones were being spec'ed and designed around the time the deal was looking like it was going through. These devices would have acted as "bridge" devices for when the AT&T started taking over the T-mobile frequencies.
If the deal had gone through, my guess is that the AWS bands would have been fully supported on these devices, and we would have seen more phones with similar band support.

Perhaps but at&t owns no 1700 mhz spectrum but does have some 2100 mhz although a lot less since they gave up some huge chunks in the breakup deal with TMO. I believe though that the way that TMO uses their spectrum for 4G is that one band say 1700 is for download and the other, 2100, is for upload...
Previously the devices for at&t didn't have the ability to do the 1700 band but most had the 2100 capability since it is also used internationally.
So if it does have the expanded radio capability it would be interesting to see if someone could disable the unused radios to assist with battery life... With so many smart people here I am sure that already is happening but just my curiosity. TMO users would want to disable the low band radios 700/850/900 since TMO USA doesn't use those so why waste power on them, AT&T users would want to disable the 1700 band, etc...
Again probably already being done and I am just getting to the party...
There had been a few phones this had worked on, sgs2, lg thrill, the note as stated before. I think the radio hardware just needs to be told what bands to look for, but I would be way wrong.

[Q] one x prepaid?

Ok I have looked everywhere for a solid answer on this.
I actually bought this unlocked att branded one x for use with T-Mobile prepaid. I however didn't know that my data (even with adjusted apnpsettings) only got edge speeds. So I'm trying to find.prepaid alternatives .. I was told by att that gophone doesn't work with their 65$ 1gb data plan because it's a 4g phone. Is this correct? Also I've looked into straight talk however with Sims costing 50-90 dollars and uncertainty idk . What does that mean exactly, that the phone simply won't work at all (even for voice and EDGE)? Or that it will only work on voice and EDGE? Or it will work on 3G HSPA, but not 4G HSPA+?

My understanding is that ATT checks the IMEI of the phone accessing data and if it is a phone with 4G capability it blocks it completely. No EDGE, no 3G, nothing, no data access. You may be able to skirt by for a while until they track you down and cut you off, but it is only a matter of time until you are cut off. Voice should work.

Short answer is probably not sorry
The n4 is pentaband and gets all of tmobiles bands. The att one x might get 3g on T-Mobile depending on the refarming in your area. Chances are it won't be as strong or consistent as the n4
