Battery Life test Results - T-Mobile LG G2x

I was pretty pleased with my results here, so I thought I'd share. This is done with both OC and UV and making use of the the 3500mah batt and with moderate/normal use.

I can get that on stock battery, you must play some games and leave your phone on full brightness at all times or something.

No, I play one game in particular, and I spend more time on the web on my phone than most people do on their computer. I could get that on a stock battery too, if I never actually used my phone Before the the changes I made, I was getting significantly less life. Especially with OC.

It looks like the moment you turn your screen on your battery life plummets.

Thats from Oc'ing to 1560 lol

It's more useful to post test results on a standard battery and standard voltages and clock speeds so others can compare. I've gotten 3 days on stock CM7 nightly before, it really depends on how much one uses their phone. The biggest clue to how a ROM or kernel affects battery is to look at the idle drain (maybe with data off too). It should be flat or with < 0.5%/hr drain.

Where'd you get the 3500 Mah battery you are using? I've been trying to find a decent maker for one.

Pull my hair out!!!!

So,I'm so freaking tired of charging my phone 3 times a day (HTC inspire) so I flash different roms, without sense to try and save battery, and I get maybe one extra hour!! So it makes me want a different phone, and I try to think of a different OS so I install miui just to see if I can stand not having full blown android, and I can't. So I'm stuck at a crossroad, with no money to just buy another phone. What would you do? No one will trade me an atrix lol.

Ohwell.
Look every android i had wasn't lasting for long when it came to battery
Get miui if you like it.
download setCPU.
set the clockspeed down to something low but still usable
and set the screen off clock to something low
NOT the lowest since it could cause deathsleep. (not waking up)
Maybe look for an better battery too?
If you have more than one launcher then remove all widgets from the others!
(or unnistall them)

Try a low voltage kernal w/ smartass governor maybe.
Try a battery calibration app and LBE security app, lower display brightness. Limit the number of widgets and start up programs.
I run CM7 nightlies with faux's LV kernel overclocked at 1113 and have 4G + GPS enabled. I get at least 10 hours but more like 15. Good luck! Thankfully I don't have to limit myself or disable certain functions. I have a myTouch 4G

[Q] Kernel with best battery life

Hey guys, I recently flash cm rc1 and been running whatever kernel that came with it. My battery life has been worse compared to stock froyo 2.2. I'm a medium usage person so I was wondering what kernel is best for battery life and what setting are people running for setcpu to maximize they battery life. Thanks in advnace.
Great question. I would like to know this too.

Yes, it is amazing the difference in opinion on this subject. I easily get 16 hours of battery life with moderate to heavy usage, and 1.5 days with light usage. And I am using plain CM7 RC1, without any CPU/Battery apps. Trinity or Faux kernels reduce this considerably regardless of the OC/UV combos I have tried.
To make sure you are getting accurate results and to get best battery life make sure you calibrate the battery (there is an app for this, or can be done manually). This has proven to solve problems I've had where I only get about 8 hours battery life after changing Roms.
Faux's is the only custom kernel I've tried, and my battery life is unbelievable. It's almost doubled.

Battery Life after installing GingerBread on Inspire

Anyone who has installed the Gingerbread rom on their Inspire, have you noticed any difference in battery life. This is supposedly the main benefit to the upgrade. I want to wipe the Bloat ware off my system, but not install a rom unless it makes a huge difference. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated...
I am running inspired ace which runs gingerbread and battery life is great.

+1 to inspired ace and much better battery life than stock.
Last time I went battery for awhile; See attached.
Granted 9 hours of that I was asleep as was the phone but the rest was me playing games, reading, downloading apps, browsing listening to music using stereo bluetooth.
Rom is in the Sig.
Gingerbeast does have awesome battery life. I reverted back to RCMix3D only cause I missed it, and I get about 10-18 hours out of my battery on that one.
+1 on the RCMix,, cant say its much longer,, but it is good for a 8 hr wrk day..
+1 for inspired ace rom - battery is great and so is the performance increase!

I have used HoneySense and LeeDroid, I have found that LeeDroid's kernel MUCH better than both HoneySense and the stock when it comes to battery life. In the end, it all depends on what you want, when you want alot of bells and whistles on all the time, your battery life will suffer, if you are more minimalist, you battery life will be much better
So far I've been one of those 'bells and whistles' people, and even on VU1.27 which I assume is pretty efficient I only get 8-9hrs. Surprising the biggest user has been voice calls, which will suck the battery dry in 2-3hrs if you have a couple long conversations.

Terrible battery life help

Hey xda, Ive got this rarely used g2x. Don't even got a simcard for mainly using it for fun I guess but I am gonna get it in service soon. Thing is I am getting terrible battery life on all recent roms, eb gb and ics and Hellfire gb and ics, I got stock battery, even with kernals my battery's terrible, looking for reccomended roms and kernals and any tricks/mods to improve battery life, and remember this is even without any data usage and am still getting this amount of battery life.

The rom I'm using right now is Eaglesblood build 2.8 which is GB 2.3.7. I get pretty decent battery life just using the kernal that is built into it normally. I was having a few problems with HFP 2.1 so I switched to this and haven't looked back. Even though it isn't the most recent I still feel like its the best, just my opinion though.
I have got the best battery life so far with Eagles blood GB as well. HFS v1.5 is giving me ok battery life but EGB gave me double time as this ROM

Try them out, read the threads to see common issues and things that work well. Stop asking everyone here to do that little bit of work for you.
XDA is not your personal slave, we should not, and will not spoon feed you. Look around, spend more then 2 minutes looking at the first post. If you put in a good effort, people will be willing to help you, but just constantly asking for which ROM is just lazy.
You did not answer the question of whether you put the phone in airplane mode, you have not said any of the ROMs you've tried (other than all of them, which I doubt). At least pretend to give a ****...
Search!!!! there are tons of threads on how to increase battery life
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk
? I don't think you give a **** because if you read my post you would of known that I'd have tried eb ics and gb, and hellfire ics and gb rom, and i've actually spent hours reading pages in the roms topic and other places, and I forgot to answer that question, my answer is no I don't even have a simcard in the phone for it to be searching for service and enabling it would stop wifi which is what I do use.
You can put the phone into Airplane mode and then enable WiFi. Even though you don't have a Sim install it can still try to search for a network and drain the battery. It will need a network without a Sim to be able to call 911 if needed.

I don't think its necessarily the stock kernal. It's the one that is built in to Eaglesblood GB. Also try to follow this guide, it seemed to help my battery life. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054420 I did get around 30 hours on that charge but it varies quite a bit depending on usage. I always get a full day of moderate use though. Try switching to Eaglesblood GB and follow that guide to 20 hour battery life and see if it helps. If not, your battery could just be old/bad. Hope this helps!
Yeah i tried the eaglesblood rom and wasn't too impressed. Im sure that it was good for performance, however i immediately missed the customization with cm7 (adw launcher) and the themes that came with it. after i have flashed the faux123 kernel on here with cm7, im happy to say my battery life is incredible. i fished all day yesterday and listened to music while texting a bit and making a few phone calls. was out for about 10 hours and had only used 40% of my battery. so for anyone looking for a good cm7 kernel, the faux has been the best i have found yet

Yeah V6 Supercharger... Link can be found in the MikXE OP on the dev forums or you can search it. It isn't strictly necessary on this phone as compared to my G1 (lol!) BUT it definitely helps keep things running smoothly.
Oh yeah and in response to your original question - if your rom supports overclockng/underclocking you can either modify the settings via developer options (on most aosp roms) or get a third party app such as setcpu or antutu cpu master (i use rom toolbox) to control the minimum and max processor speeds. Mine is set at 192 min and 1512 max with the governor set to on demand and it runs fine. Deep sleep can get a bit... Deep... At times and not wanna wake up but for my battery life it's a small price to pay.

I use the big 3500 Hyperion. I'm a heavy web user...it gets me through the day.
Cm9 definitely seems to extend my life vs. Sense roms. But that's perceptive. I can't prove it.

I can lmao same exact usage the other day on cm9 got me 1 day 15 hours with 4+ hours screen on time playing the Oregon Settler with my Anker before going to 15%. Today I'm at 3 hours screen on and 12 hours on battery and I'm at 33% on MikXE so yeah AOSP def less strain on the phone, but Sense is SO PRETTY lol

SURE! If you're looking for a short-lived hand & pocket warmer.

That is like running your car's engine at 6000rpm everywhere you go and when you park it. Sure it can do it, but how long will the engine last and how long can your gas tank hold out. By allowing the governor to regulate speeds the phone gets to use the cpu horsepower much more reasonably and allows the phone to use much less cpu power (sleep)when it isn't being utilized. I set mine at 192 min 1516 max and the governor to on-demand (depending on what profiles are available).
1.7 didn't ever do much for me other than make the phone hot and slightly crabby. 1.5 runs cooler, more stable (noticeably so), and with better battery life. 1.2 works just fine as well.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
