currently I looking for a new phone, and I found htc one s is pretty good, so I want to ask you guys opinions. Is there any problem that makes you dont like this phone? or is there any problem with this phone?
Also, I am going to buy a unlocked on on ebay, so if I have a tmobile prepaid sim card, it should work perfectly on the tmobile htc one s right? Including my 5G data?
Before buying make sure u get the s4 chip one like mine lol don't get ovetclockrd s3 not worth it find out when the person bought the phone because if he got it near release date there were chipping problems where paint comes of and buy a case asap ask others about the 5g stuff got no clue I love this phone to bits everything is awesome and battery life is reasonable for a smartphone I have problems with storage advertised u get 16gb but we only get to use 9.93 gb however when s off comes well be able to fix that personal opinion get it if u have a reasonable budget for example I'm on tmobile eu and my contract works out 12pm free phone so quite happy if u got abit more to spend get galaxy s3 because dual core is becoming "old fashion" personally I wouldnt get it cuz screen too big I feel my screen is big but its personal prefernce hope it helps

I really do recommend this phone. I previously owned the hd2 which I had rooted with nexushdCM9 which was a great setup; but this new one s is so much more of a upgrade. It really an awesome phone. I've had it for about a week and no problems at all.
ABSOLUTELY worth buying without a question. I bought this phone a few days ago (coming from a LONG line of Android phones back to the Hero) and was only getting it to hold me over til the gs3 comes out in a few days and was going to take it back. I am still going to look at the gs3, but honestly, its going to have to be REALLY amazing to pull the HTC away from me.
But as mentioned above, make sure you get the phone with the s4 chip cause cause the s3 is just old tech.
My dad has this phone, be absolutely loves it, the screens beautiful and its very responsive. You'll love it.

I just switched from HTC Evo 4G and loving the One S, Its almost is almost 44 grams lighter and almost 1/2 thinner. and both have a 4.3 inch screen its really easy to use in one hand. The Evo 4G was to heavy to use in one hand. I'm as happy as can be. I did get it free for fathers day Sweet!!
Remember if you get the bigger screen you will most likely need two hands to operate it, that was the deal breaker for me with the One X or SGS3. The only reason I when to t-mobile to see the phone was because it was free. But when I saw it and felt it in my had and in my front pocket I was amazed by it, apart from One x bigger screen it also looks weird. I would have loved the bigger screen but I did not like using 2 hand for a simple status check on my phone.
Either way both phones are amazing i'm sure.
already bought the phone and got it, love it so much! slim and sexy~ only problem is my first boot has the overheat issue, but after I turn it off for like an hour and turn it on again the problem went away, overall it is a great phone

hey guys,
i was browsing for almost 2 weeks to know if mytouch 4g is good or not, i had a nexus one and i sold it today to get mytouch 4g or nexus s, i read a lot of comment about nexus s make me go away from it and i read a lot of comment make me love the mytouch 4g, then today after i sold my nexus one i saw this topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894953
i saw a lot of ppl said the mytouch have a fuzzy screen and bad battery life i don't know what to do now please i need some advice, i really don't like to open a new topic because like i said almost 2 weeks browsing and i sold my nexus already to get my touch, some advice please go for mytouch 4g or nexus s .
thanks
All devices have positive and negative points, but it's up to you to weigh them and decide what works best for you.
If you've been browsing for two weeks, then you should know the differences in the screen types and what to look for as well as what to either accept or avoid. Battery life varies depending on use and settings applied, especially for the modders and tweakers that exist in these forums.
Since you are in the Glacier section, I doubt there will be anyone who recommends that you get a Nexus S. In fact, if you read the Nexus S forum, there will probably be the same type of complaints that you find here as well as every other device section. No device is perfect, but to many of us the MT4G is the best of what is currently available on the market.
You will end up in this same predicament no matter which phone you get in the months ahead when yet new phones are released, so choose what ends up making you the happiest for now.
Thanks dude, ur comment is perfect, I always say there no phone will come to us complete, the companies can't do this and if they do this mean they will close, the only thing I am trying to do to improve my phone and get something higher and stay with it for at least 2 years or so, wating for new baby and want to stope spending on crap, that's why I decided to change and sold my nexus.
Thanks again

Man I had the g2 there is no way I would trade for the g2 no way
Honestly I think it's almost a toss up between the NS or MT4G. I have the MT4G and I am absolutely in love with it. Build quality is awesome and has everything you could want. Even camera quality was better than expected. And now that there's more devlopers jumping on this phone then the sky is the limit for this.
BUT, I am very intruged with the Nexus S. I love the SuperAmoled screen on it and I know everyone bags on Samsung phones being made out of plastic, that's what I love about it. Plastic phone = really lightweight. I don't care if it's plastic or metal like the MT4G because I put a case on any phone I get anyways. The MT4G with my little plastic case can be a tad bit heavier than the NS so that's totally up to you if you want a lighter phone or a heavier feel. Right now there is no 720p HD video capture on the NS which to me is mind boggling. I'm sure hackers will find a way around that though. One thing also is that it has no dedicated camera button on the side like the MT4G. For me I love to have a dedicated camera button. Also there's no expandable micro SD card slot in the NS, so take that into consideration as well.
So overall I would give the MT4G the edge, especially that it's 4G capable unlike the Nexus S and also has an optical track pad and most importantly has about 250 more mb's of RAM than the Nexus S. But honestly, you can't go wrong with either. Just play with each of them for like 10 minutes and I'm sure you can make your decision after then.
Hope this helps!
Biggest strike against the Nexus S is Samsung. I came over from a Vibrant and will NEVER purchase another phone made by Samsung. Average hardware (build quality and feel) with HORRIBLE software support. Now, with the Nexus S being a Google experience phone it takes the Samsung software support out of the equation, but it's still not a leap forward by any means (read the reviews).
I will miss the SuperAmoled display, but nothing else.

Get the MT4, the 2nd gen snapdragon makes web scrolling so smooth that once the phone oced to 1.4 you almost feel like iOS.
The cpu in the vibrant or ns on the other hand is a piece of ****, it'll have the best gpu but that cpu makes web scrolling feel like crap. Choppy at best and slideshow in most cases.
Look at the video after 5:00 mark i think, is a joke and i don't have the patience to wait for the development to pick up because AT THIS POINT IN TIME, anything coming out will be better than the NS so in summary if you have almost $600 to burn then yeah go ahead if you value your money then get the MT for cheap and upgrade later on to a better phone.
If you don't mind the branding, MT4 is better than nexus one in many ways.
1. more storage for applications (the most important)
2. wifi calling (it's useless if you don't use T-Mobile)
3. a bit larger screen, but you may encounter quality issue
4. physical buttons (it's also user's preference)
5. 720p video recording
6. secondary cam
You want nexus one if:
1. you have grandfathered internet (t-zones, tmoweb, and total internet)
2. you want minimal branding
3. AMOLED screen
4. fastest possible software update
Agree whith ^ message
It's way worth it to get a cheap my4g and mod it, then upgrade when smth better comes up.
I loove the samoled, but won't give up on 4G for that.
Thanks guys, my point for right now to get a device to stay with me for a little bit i really don't care about gaming and stuff so i am not waiting for Tegra 2, i will go to tmobile store and get the phone from there so if i see this issue in the screen i will return it and get another one till i get good one
I had the Vibrant and I have to say the hardware is awesome. But damn Samsung ruined it with their software. IMHO the MT4G is one of the best if not the best phone on the market right now. It has so much going for it; 4G, FFC, almost double the OC'd speed and CM support.

pretty much same thing I've done, but alittle bit longer I guess.
Iphone 3gs unlocked traded for nexus one...straight up trade
nexus one traded for an iphone 4 32gb, straight up trade
iphone 4 32gb trade for iphone 4 16gb plus $200
iphone 4 16gb sold $500
purchased vibrant for $160.....unlocked it and rooted LOVE it....selling today for $280..... purchased mytouch 4g brand new never opened for $ 275. It has the good screen !! Now trying to decided to if I should unlock it and use it on my current carrier or goto tmobile?
currently: 500 minutes, unlimited text/data....$55 w/ tax. Plus my wife is on this carrier and free minutes. Lot of them to her...
pros... priced for life can & no contract, free minutes to wife
cons: can't upgrade to new phone, have to buy out right. Typically using tmobile phones since 3g services work.
Tmobile.. 500 minutes, unlimited text data, $59.99 plus a 12% discount through employer.
Pros: 4g service, drop internet service at home save $30/month
cons: may have to watch my minutes

yes I think I was lucky on that since the person I traded with was looking to use it on the same carrier. I need to quit playing with phones, its an addiction!!
I'm curious what the opinions of those who actually own the One S are of the SGS3 (T-Mobile version).
Would you rather have the SGS3 if you had the choice? One S better?
I'm about to upgrade and I'm torn between waiting for the S3 or just getting the One S today..

I'm rather curious myself honestly ^^
I'm currently on a vibrant, but I have an upgrade coming in about another week and am
trying to determine what I ought to go with. I look forward to seeing what people's opinions are ^^
Personal preference is stick with one s 4.8inch display is way too big

I love the one s . But have been having issues with my connection even after the update . Also for me the battery goes quickly.
I also prefer to have a removable battery and ad card. This is my 2nd one s, and when I tried to get my pictures and music from dropbox it wasn't successful.
Do love the build quality and size though. So if you don't mind the 4.8 in s3 definitely get that.
I think ill be getting one myself

One S.
I came from a Vibrant as well. Samsung burnt me a little with the GPS on the Vibrant so I decided to try an HTC this time.
As far as GPS, the One S is rock solid. It has never taken more then about 10 seconds to lock and it stays locked.
I definitely prefer Sense over TouchWiz.
The lack of expandable SD and non-removable battery are not issues for me personally.
And lastly the GS III is just a little big for my tastes. One S is the perfect size for me. The GS III looks nice enough, just not for me this time around.
I'm very happy with my purchase.
Sent from my HTC One S
I had a Galaxy Nexus (4.68" display?) so 4.8 shouldn't be bad. I thought the Galaxy Nexus felt AMAZING in hand.
I was looking at specs for the international GS3 and they pretty much matched up with the One S so I was just going to go with the One S but then I realized, duh, the US version is "much better" then the international.
The way I saw it, at least, is the GS3 pretty much has everything comparable to the One S (camera was going to be the selling point for me) but doubles the RAM, slightly larger screen, removable battery and SDcard slot.
If I'm going to pay the same price, on paper the GS3 is a better choice to make.
I got the one s after the one x and screen was awful. U get used after a week but hurts ur eyes if u read articles on ur phone. Then i got the sgsIII and screen is much better than the one s. Also everything else is better. The camera of the one s though is better at taking pics in low light. keep in mind that with the one s u have to deal with bootloader unlock and there is no s off as well. so long story short samsung is much more dev friendly. I forgot to mention that the tmobile sgs4 will have a 2gb ram
S3 : removable battery, sdcard slot, NFC, 720p Screen, 2GB ram,
1S: better design, high quality material
==> I'm using one s now but i'll get the S3 next week. give the 1s for my bro
im new to gsm side of life so today im getting one S free then getting S3 21st and keeping one S or dropping it if tmo has 14day return policy like sprint.
I hesitate to post this. I don't want to bad mouth the One S. It is an unbelievable phone. However I'm having data reception issues. I am definately in a low signal area. Looks like this phone has issues with a low signal. The signal meter just jumps around crazily form no service to two bars.
This is my third in a month. 2nd one got the update and in my opinion it made it worse. and I thought I noticed a slight change in battery life for the worse, but I can't be sure.
I've learned that stressing on the signal meter, speedtest or other things is pointless. It's all about day to day performance. But the internet on the One S is consisitently an issue for me. First page loads fast usually but then long waits or can't find page/signal errors. Again, I have reception issues in my area here in N Texas.
Out of all the problems I had w/ the G2X this wasn't one. Nor on my Sensation or Evo.
But if you have a strong signal.....I can definately recommend this phone.Out and about it seems quicker.
It is the fastest Android I've had. Really fast performance.
Importantly the battery life is exponentially better. I've sold this already to a fellow xda-er. So I've reset it to stock and am using it minimally (mostly so I don't risk dropping it or damaging it before I send it out). I am currently at about 44 hours without charging it. It is at 75% right now! No lie! I've barely used it admittedly. But I could go through literally 3 batteries a day on some of my G2x's.
I am 100% getting the S3, but am not 100% happy about it. I don't like the size, slickness, I've had problems with Samsungs lack of Customer Service, and it looks like there may be a few bugs (to be expected?).
It has many plusses and I'm sure I'll like it but I like the form factor of the One s and I don't think the S3 will have as good a battery life.
But the data issue is a deal breaker for me w/ my bad area.
Looking to get new phone. Options are SGS2, Sensation 4g or LG Optimus L9. Buying used, shooting for the galaxy first but is the sensation a good fa back? Hoping to get something that could last me a year if I don't get the next IPhone. I know, bad word sorry. Ill get the soap

still is a good phone. I have chosen the Sensation over the used SGS2 and Iphone 4 last xmas.
I think its still good but i would personally would choose a gs2 over this phone reasons arent many though i would because i need a bigger screen for my thumbs, its actually a little faster than sensation and i can make it look like a galaxy s3,,, downside is that screen is lower than the sensation, build quality feels cheaper, camera seems better on sensation.... over all gs2 will win with speed, buy a case for your phone makes it feel better, camera is still good and lets be real we dont use all the roms out there so we just need a few developers that can work on a few roms like cm10.1, the gs3 rom that works on s2, and it is a great phone if u dont wanna spend on an s3 since the s4 is right around the corner
Sent from my HTC Sensation
Sensation all the way! I think it's still a great phone, although the S2 is getting an official JB update.
I don't need official jelly or ice cream or kitkat. Ill put a custom rom on whatever i buy, offical roms tend to get bogged down with bloat and take forever to come out.Yea IDk about the s4 even, that would be like 600 dollars and in 6 months I won't have that so I'll stay under 300. If i could i'd be getting the nexus but just low supply and just over my budget. Want a good camera, speedy enough to play a handful of games, not going to tackle GTA, stuff like cut the rope, angry birds or songpop. I casual game on phones, got a console for hardcore gaming.part of me likes to tinker with all the roms and stuff but a bigger part of me is annoyed at that and would just like a stress free phone but I have to deal with it for now
I miss flip phones they never broke down at least not any of the ones i ever owned... remember when a phone was for phone calls and text and the sometimes web browsing for myspace or google
Sent from my HTC Sensation
I recently bought my Sensation XE for £130. The way I looked at it is that it is not worth spending more than £150 on a second hand phone because the Nexus 4 is only £240. The SGS2 at the time was selling for about £190 second hand. So I decided to save some money and have a play with the sensation.
I've found that premium accessories for the sensation are very cheap when compared to the SGS2. I guess they are trying to flush out stock for the sensation as the SGS2 is still available new.
Rom development on cyanogenmod is a bit further behind on the sensation if that is important to you. There is a wealth of roms to play with on the sensation and that situation should get even more interesting with the asian htc one s recently getting updated to jelly bean. The ICS roms work the best so far but JB 4.1 roms are solid for use. JB 4.2 is on the horizon.
I can't say which phone is better but the sensation is not bad.
Hope this helps.
yea i think that does help. I may just save some coin and go with the sensation.guess If it last 9-10 months, I can look at my options then.
Press thanks if you like
I was doubting between sg2 and sensation over a year ago. Still regret my choise (going for sensation).
well here's what I'm looking at. galaxy is 244, and the price fluctuates a bit. the sensation is 178. I want to shoot for the galaxy but I would like to save the 66 bucks, but I think what if I need to stay with the phone I get for a year, what will hold up best in terms of use. I want it to be speedy, doesn't have to be quad core speedy but I'd like it to not hang when I select and app or unlock the screen. 3g, 4g doesn't matter, as long as its decently fast to stream Pandora. If i do any uploading of vids it'll be on wifi mainly. Think screen washout in sunlight and camera quality both front and rear are my big concern. I have read some issues with gs2 getting bootloops without being rooted or rom-ed, i also worry about scratches on the glass buying used. guess my worries are the same as buying a car. want it to get me through without worry but not cost me my life savings (or lack of),

I have the sensation, wife has the s2. She likes it, I don't. I like mine, she don't
I was thinking of getting a Nexus 4 recently mine was doing some random **** (slow, homescreen reloads etc). Not really anything huge just annoying. But after thinking about it, I couldn't afford to drop that kind of money on a phone when I could be putting it towards other stuff.
I was wanting to root it for ages so finally did it. It improved a crap load! I did notice my battery wasn't really lasting through the day though. Again, I wanted to get a decent one for a while so I thought, new battery = cheap "new" phone.
It's working a treat.
The wife is starting to get annoyed with the s2 now as well - can't help with the specifics but I think it's just doing little annoying things as well.
We've both had ours for over 2 years. They're both running strong but after giving the sensation a freshen up, it's got a new lease on life. I think if you rooted etc the s2 you'll get similar results.
Personally, if you're looking at saving money and only want it to last a year - Sensation. I don't think it'll be that much slower than the s2 (in fact I think mine is faster than the wife's). And you can put the $60 towards the new beast. I really don't think the s2 is $60 better.

lg 9
No one has talked about the lg 9 I would suggest looking at reviews and the forums here. I've played with it. It was nice, not too cheap feeling. Pretty snappy, but it was new and few apps installed. The camera has never impressed me on m sensation. The lg is only a five mega pixel so I would guess they saved money here, though tmobile is offering it for around 200 new,
it still is a pretty good phone, and running pretty smooth with a custom rom
I have a sensation 4g (lot of battery drain) but I have a new battery that is 1900mAh.
With custom rom, its blazing fast. But i'd recommend SG2 anyway because I'm korean.
Will you be tethering or otherwise requiring faster data? SGSII is HSPA+42. Sensation is HSPA14.
For me, the difference at home is 2-3mbps vs 7-11mbps, and in the city, can be 4-6mbps vs 12-18mbps.
Still a good phone but with a reasonable price, or I'll save more for a Nexus 4
no tethering. Nexus 4 would be nice if there it wasn't sold out and I had another 100 bucks for it
bought the S2
Hey htc one s user! ive got a question for all you! ive been looking for a gift for my mom and she tells me she wants a new phone, shes pretty tech savy and knows her way around android pretty well (shes a sgs rooted user), besides the fact im just wondering if this is a good phone to buy for her? and im also wondering if 200 is a good price for the phone used, with nothing wrong with it?
Thanks!
Personally i think this phone looks and feels best out of the the many ones out there. The size might be a little problematic if you have smaller hands, but compared to the galaxy or others it's definitely smaller. People i sit around with in class have remarked that it looks very nice too ^^

I think $200 is a good price. I bought mine in November for $300 off ebay with no issues. I think it all depends on preference. Personally, I like HTC Sense. I think is like the 4th HTC I've owned, and have liked them all. The camera on this phone is solid, one of the few reasons I switched from my Galaxy Nexus. The size is nice, not too big, not too small. If you are a T-Mobile user, we just got the 4.1.1 JB update. I'm running a version by Mkinney88 that runs smooth on my phone, is she's planning to root. For being such a slim phone, battery life isn't too bad. I can usually get through a full day with around 3 hours screen time. Accessories are somewhat limited, but I found a few cases I like.
Sorry to ramble a bit, but has you can see, I like it. I do sometimes switch to my Galaxy Nexus, but always end up coming back to the One S.
Good luck!
Nick
So I can get the S4 for $49 through AT&T directly or the HTC One for $0, both plus tax of course... have to love California franchise tax board but I digress...
As you can see, I currently own an S2 and have absolutely loved it ever since I've had it. It's been a great phone. My fear in getting the S4 is that it's gonna be a incremental upgrade whereas the One is something completely new. But is that better?
My S2 is the 16GB version with a 8GB microSD inside and that's been more than enough room. So the One with 32GB would be overkill. But then there's no removable battery and I've replaced mine once.
Will I get bored of the S4 pretty quick or is it really THAT much of an upgrade? Does Blinkfeed get old quick with the One? I know the earbuds are pretty kick ass with the One though.
I hate these types of decisions.

i think you would be happy with either phone. HTC and Samsung Are great companys they both never disappoint me with their phones. if you have any friends with a S4 or One i would check theirs out see which your like (go to your service provider store to test out also but Personally i love Samsungs phones better and would recommend buying a S4 instead, i think i have heard the S2 is getting some of the 4's goodies so i would wait a little longer. hell wait for the S5 to come out just another 4 months away xD

Well I was under the gun to make a decision as this wasn't a normal offer so I went with the S4. I've had great luck as I said with my S2 and a few of my friends have the S4 and they love it. But I did spend some time using the One and it's just built so well and Blinkfeed is quite slick. In the end, I chose based on a few things like the placement of the power button on the One and lack of a front button like the S4 has. Really minor things but I had to rationalize it one way or the other... :victory:
