any one?

Do what it says in this manual - basically, you download the appropriate firmware (.29 for US) from ASUS.com, unzip the file once, put that on an SD card, insert the card in your tablet and you should see a notification that the system has found the update file.

i heard people say you will not be able to root if you update manually

who the hell Zips a Zip file?
update detected after extracting to micro sd
and also successfull!!!

Not true anymore. miloj took care of that in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704209

should this be failing?

I was on .17 and got root using Sparkyroot. Backed up root with OTA rootkeeper and then manually upgraded to .29. Lost root. Tried to regain root with OTA rootkeeper and was unsuccessful. Still trying to regain root and will be monitoring here and a few other threads for a solution.
As for Miloj's thread...it may work, but it is waaaaay beyond my tech knowledge. I was sweating the one click Sparkyroot root method. I did try reading it a few times and all I got out of it was "I really shouldn't try this without adult supervision".
For now I have a working tablet on .29. I guess I can wait a few more weeks (or months) for a one click Sparkyroot type program for root on .29 (or later update)

ASUS, apparently
As for your last post, when I was rooting my tab (when I was still on stock ROM), the update also failed until I downloaded BusyBox Installer from Play Store and installed the latest version of BusyBox. But then again, your checking for busybox line says OK, mine had 'native', so dunno if it'll work (or if you have already done that) but if you haven't, it can't hurt to try, right?

yes thats what happened to me too!!!!!
lost root even after using the OTA Root keeper
But i Downloaded this its the same method by Miloj http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706588
but with a batch based GUI
its simple attach see to it drivers are present
select 1 and wait and press yes when asked to compare GUID UID is same with a few line above the yes/no prompt
den installed JRummy's busy box and got the above screenshot
my OCD with such stuff is etching to get a green OKay

I know I was rooted, but now it says I'm not?

So I know I WAS rooted at one point, up until about a week ago. Then all of a sudden a few days ago I went to flash the latest CM6 nightly, and opened up TitaniumBackup to make sure I had everything backed up. It said that it didn't have root access. I rooted back on 1.5 or 1.6, using Fresh's 1-click method. Will that still work even though I'm running a Froyo ROM now? Sorry if this has been asked and answered before, but I couldn't find anything searching. I can still boot to recovery, and flash ROMs, but the apps that require root access (TitaniumBackup, drocap2, Superuser, wifi tether) say they can't gain root access. I did flash a file suggested by impaler to try to fix issues with adding SU permissions, and it seems that this issue started about that time.
I can't install the Android SDK (no internet access besides my phone, and that doesn't want to play nice with the servers for some reason), so I should specify that this should be non-ADB if possible.

Universal AndRoot. Check it out. http://bit.ly/aa4jxJ
Unfortunately, that didn't work. Titanium still says it can't acquire root. I tried both options, and both times it said failed.
I had that happen once and when I checked Superuser TB was "denied". I "allowed" it in Super User and it worked.

Will give this a shot later tonight once my phone charges. I hate how it takes so long to charge via USB.
I took this screenshot on the xda app one day way back when I had the same problem you did. I asked for help and this guy got it for me.

Will "factory reset" break root?

I guess you'll find out shortly cause i'm about to do it
Factory reset should not touch /system which is where the binary and apk reside.

Well, here are some preliminary findings
After rooting I was not able to use my phone for USB Mass storage, not exactly sure why, just an observation. Before root, it worked fine.
After FR, I am now able to use my phone for USB MS again. However, upon the first time trying to mount it as MS device I got a pop up window telling me of one or more problems on the disk (sdcard) and it said that happens when a file or files were not done writing to the card before it was unmounted. Not sure how that could have happened, but it did. It gave me two options, scan and fix Atrix 2 or scan w/o fixing Atrix 2. Choosing option 1 would run checkdisc and attempt to fix any problems found, that's what I did and it fixed the problem.
After rooting I was unable to check for system updates, let me clarify....I could physically tell the phone to check for them but I would get an error that said "Check for system update is not available at this time, please try again later."
After FR, I get a different message that states "Your device is up to date, no update necessary at this time."
After rooting I was able to use MyBackup Root to backup all my apps and stuff.
After FR, this is what I get when trying to open the app

I am going to install SU to see if that changes anything re: root access, will post back with update.
i launched Titanium Backup the other day after rebooting and it said i didnt have root. rebooted again and launched the app, root came back....its really weird... had this happen on the Atrix 1 as well. even on custom roms that are pre-rooted.
A lot of times it is because the superuser app is not running or failed to launch. Opening superuser and going back to whatever app complained usually works for me.
IMO, I haven't even rooted this device (yet) but that's my experience on my last phone.

out of all the devices i have and have had, the atrix and the atrix 2 are the only ones i have seen this on.
It's worth a try, next time it occurs. Again, I haven't done anything with this device specifically, so it could be something else.
I've decided not to try it, nothing really to gain at this point since rooting this phone doesn't accomplish much yet.

Will this work on ZTE V793 ?
You can try.
Mainly poot allowed the root and superusers lets you give permission.
Im hoping this will allow roms to start being build and a chance of unlocking the nvm folder.

Recovery Image
Hey everyone I'm smartmanvartan... you can usually find me on AF. The N850 has just been released here in Canada with ICS! I don't want to buy this phone per-say but I have a N860 and they are very similar. this could help us Warp users finally get ICS and the same goes for you Fury users. Now I have a friend at Public Mobile(the carrier releasing the N850) that will let me grab a system dump from a new phone but I can't root it or flash recovery. But if someone can pull their stock recovery and post it up, I can make a CWM recovery or at the very least a adb enabled stock recovery and then BOOT into it without flashing it by using the fastboot boot command. Once I have a system dump and or a CWM recovery, I will post it up here as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Might want to look into the mobile uncle apk.. its the go to app for china phones and since the v793 seems to be just that it may work for you. it is capable of rooting and flashing recovery... in the other thread for your phone, there is mention of a modified cwm from the zte blade. try getting the image in question and use the mobile uncle tool to flash it. the mobile uncle tool is available on google play...
Hi guys, will this work on a ZTE N850 that runs off Android 4.0.4?? Does it matter?
everytime i press the "press here to poot" the phone freezes
and I have to do a battery pull. any ideas

Same here... i've been trying on a US model of the N850 and it always freezes.. I've been reading around and I found some people saying that it is ministro version 9.5 and up that doesn't play well with poot.. but even with an older version of the ministro app, i have had no success...
I have a US ZTE N850 that I couldn't root. Tried everything. I gave up on it for a few months, then I guess either poot or Ministro updated themselves. I got a warning from Google Play that poot was dangerous and I should uninstall. So naturally I ignored it and ran it and this time it worked. Ministro II v9.5 if that helps.
I'm still stuck with the gingerbread os, but having superuser makes it a lot
more usable device. If any of you had poot freeze on you before, I suggest you
update Ministro and poot and give it another go.

SuperSU - which version for MM B820/B831? [SOLUTION]

Does anybody know which version of SuperSU is working on B820/B831?
I tried the one on multitool -> No root access.
Then I tried 2.62, 2.65, 2.67, 2.76 -> None of them are working.
2.62 works fine

Are you on b831?
Do I have to "unroot" before I "install" another SuperSU-Version? How do I do that (restore)?
Have 2.76 on B820.
Did you successfully install it and have it in your launcher? If so, try to allow every root access without promt. If it works then I have a solution for you.

At first I tried to install it with mulitool. There was a symbol then, but when I started it there was a error message. When I tried to install other versions there was no installed supersu-app and I couldn't install it from Googleplaystore or manually.

Ok, weird. Just to make sure: You download this zip file:
https://download.chainfire.eu/969/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.76-20160630161323.zip
(from the xda-thread)
Copy it where ever you find it (like sd-card). Start into TWRP recovery. Select Flash/Install (dont remember the exact menu entry), choose the zip file, let it install.
After that TWRP will probably ask you if it should root your phone, because it seems not to be rooted. Dont do that! Dont exactly know why, but you definitly dont need that, TWRP is wrong here.
PS: Multitool doesnt have EMUI 4.0 for L04 yet last time I checked
Yeah. I tried it again 5 min. ago. I installed it 2 times. Still no app.
Maybe it has something to do with b831?
What do you want to say me with the PS?
I installed a B831-image I found on the Internet. Everything works so far!

Pixel 3 rooted with Magisk - OTA is being downloaded?

Yet, the phone is offering an update:
Since I took this screenshot, the download has completed, and it is offering to install it.
My understanding is that OTA would not happen if the phone is bootloader unlocked and rooted.
Should I let it install this update? How can I find out exactly which update it is? I'm assuming it would be (PQ3A.190605.003, Jun 2019), but how can I confirm?
Where is this 1.2 Gb file stored on the phone once it downloads? I found posts saying it was at root level in folder /cache, but it is not there. Maybe it moved for Android 9? I tried to use Solid Explorer to find files > 1 Gb, but it did not find anything.
I was also surprised today, but let it install. Lost the root afterwards.
