Memory management - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Had this been fixed by custom roms or is still really aggressive where apps reload once resumed? Its the deciding factor on if I get this phone or not.

A lot of that has been taken care of with the update. Assuming you're talking about the AT&T
HOX.

Anyone using the latest att leak 1.85?

The leak is 1.85 changelog?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
It supposedly breaks root, so I'd hold off for.now if you care about toot.
Sent while in DEFCON Brown.
no root yet for the public, root is being fine tuned, will be release in a day or so. I'm on 1.85 and rooted. phone seems snappier and a lot of people are claiming better radio (data speeds, calls, etc) cant comment on that i havent used it that much. if you read the thread in development section it cover a lot of what people have found.
with this leak i assume the official update isn't too far off?
i'd install the one already floating around but i'd rather wait for AT&T to release it officially.
i'm using the 1.85 leak and it's rooted and working fine on my bootloader-unlocked device.
I haven't even gotten the 1.82 OTA...wtf?

Nobody has gotten anything OTA yet (on AT&T anyways), these are leaks.

There are 2 ppl in the "Multitasking is a joke" thread reporting that mulitasking is fixed/improved after they flashed the 1.85 update.

Can you describe how it's "fixed"?
2 days with 1.85.
wifi seems better but still not good as my iphone 4.
not that snappy as 1.82 or 1.7. little laggier..
I've been contemplating going back to 1.82. Multitasking is better in 1.85 but I poorer wifi. And Tom toolbox helps with multitasking in 1.82.
My opinion. But 1.85 does give better radio .... Wait no ... Wait yes... I fluctuate a bar

Does the update fix the issue where if you click a YouTube link it currently won't let you select YouTube app to view it? Or browser selection for web related tasks/searches?
I agree multi tasking is better. I also agree that WiFi has taken a step back.

When you say not completely, what does that mean? Do the apps still refresh? Or does the HOX just hold them in memory a little longer than it did previous?

Keeping this phone?

Ive been debating on returning this phone for a Samsung galaxy note. I love flashing random themes etc. But I'm inpatient.. would the note be a better choice or should I just suck it up and expect great things to happen
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Suck it up. One x is miles ahead of note in terms of, well, everything. Other than screen size. But 4.7 superlcd2 just blows it away.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
The note is very akward. We really just got this ones x thing in some sort of working order a few days ago. Roms are starting to show up, themes are coming. There is no phone better than this.

I had the galaxy nexus...horrible phone. Camera sucks, battery was the worse battery i have ever delt with. And besides miui, all the roms are the same IMO, stick with this beast of a phone, once kernel source is released this will take off.

I did own one. The only thing that makes it "good" is the software and even stock ICS wasn't good enough to make me keep the mediocre hardware that it was running on. It was quite the downgrade from my E4GT, and can't hold a candle to the HOX.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I had the international One x sold it because of screen getting yellow spots and it was overheating. Just got the GN and is far better smooth and very fast. Faster then HTC One X. And its still stock.

Mediocre is a little too harsh, but the GNex is one generation old now.
The Snapdragon S4 on the One XL is a beast compared to the OMAP4 (Cortex A9). The SAMOLED HD display is nice, but the SLCD on the HTC is just superb. The One XL also does LTE. The construction on the One XL is very nicely done and the camera is incredibly nice and fast.
The biggest gripe about the One XL is non-replaceable battery (and perhaps the HTC Sense skin).

Because it is made by Samsung, the world largest plastic consumer.
I personally like sense4 when its modded a little bit I have the gnex and the Rogers hox... The one x is clearly a better phone just in build quality alone. I kept my gnex for tinkering and when the next big release of Android comes out

I returned my one x the other day and I don't miss it or regret it. With the WiFi issue and the horrible battery life the phone was a rip off. The sad thing is that manager of the ATT store I took it back too agreed. He said they sold 28 units since the release date and mine made 12th return since the release date...and he went as far as to shoe me the returned units in the back store room. I'm back on my vivid and going to wait for the new GS3 or order the galaxy nexus. That's what I get for falling for the hype over a new release phone...which turns out that's all the One X was....hype. The manager said the that ATT corporate is already told them to drop the price to 149.00 starting in late June which is the quickest they have ever dropped the price of a new phone. That says a lot to me. I'm just glad I was able to get a refund and he was kind enough to waive the restocking fee and some is able to get the system to show that I still have an upgrade to use.

No idea of it will work. I'm sure that with more time searching than the 2 minutes that took, you can probably up with something viable, or at least learn the methods to do it yourself.

I can't remember any specific ones at the moment but I think there are a few camera apps in the Play Store that will let you do this. I think Camera FV-5 is one of them.

I was wondering if Tasker would handle that as well. I've never installed it, though. I imagine that anything is possible with root and a little effort.

it was 58mb, they said it would be around 28 i believe, wonder if they added additional things to this update.
If Ur on stock just go to settings...then about and check for software updates. Easiest way to do it....let it do its magic

Do we really need 6 threads just for the same update.......
Can mods please merge all threads into one thread.
Preferably this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1690830&page=4
sgs3 has the same processor as this phone, only major perk you get is 2gb of ram and more internal memory, also the screen is a bit nicer but honestly on a screen this small the increased resolution will be negligible and if nothing else decrease performance because the cpu and gpu work harder to produce the image... the only thing that really matters is dpi but still its not necessary on a sub 32 inch screen haha so basically you get a wider thicker phone, that has bad build quality and an extra gig of ram.

Opinions? Sure.....the SGS3 is a gigantic phone with an HD screen. It will be no faster than the One S for all intents and purposes. The One S already flies, and is usable in one hand. The SGS 3 will not be since it's so large.
Take a Galaxy Note and downsize it just a tad. It's that big.
Just my 2 cents.

What's the most bloatware-ridden phone you've ever owned?

For me, it was my Incredible 2. A phone even more bloat-ridden than that one however, is my sister's Droid RAZR. My God, that thing has a ton of bloat.

Anything I ever got off of carriers really. IMO its not a proper phone unless its in its raw, unlocked/intl form. Not to mention how much most carriers butcher the hardware on the poor localizations....
rogers Canada is bad for this 10+ apps on there phones
Any verizon phone
.215 radio - SimplexROM 1.2 - Daily Driver - XT912 - Wigdetsoid - Linux Installer - Otter Box
My Atrix 4G was pretty bad. Not only was it plagued by all the AT&T apps, but then there was MotoBlur which included Motorola branded versions of the same apps.
My Atrix 4G had a lot of bloat. I don't use the stock rom though anymore
Hmmm for me it was galaxy 5 of my friend.......a lot of junk from carrier.....28 non sence apps on a low spec device?? i think that is just redicolues...
