Infuse won't download multimedia messages - Samsung Infuse 4G

When I hit download on messages (even though I have it set to do it on auto) it says downloading but never actually downloads the file. I am on broccoli of aokp. Does anyone else have this problem or know of a fix

What network are you on?
If you're a Canadian user like I am, there are no Access Point Names fix yet.
This is the main reason why you're not getting the MMS.
This is the case for ICS ROMs at this moment. Just wait for a fix.

If your att...change
Mms proxy...66.209.11.32
In the apn, remember to save

Or where you have the two choices under A.P.N's--- ATT or ATT LTE--- choose LTE...should say PTA under it. The PTA needs changed to say "phone". Save changes and everything should work. Worked for me!

MSM videos sent from iphone wont play on my Samsung infuse
Most of my family & friends have i-phones. I decide to be a rebel and get the Samsung infuse Droid phone. I am running gingerbread.
My i-phone friends send me videos via sms messaging, and I either just get the sound only from the video or nothing at all. Today I got a message saying "Message size 32KB" and a download box... I've clicked the download box & I get nothing...
I know the basics about technical stuff, but that's pretty much it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

First iphone...naaa, you made a better choice...IMHO...
Are you rooted & have CWM, I ask this so you can try flash a different modem?
For my area, I have narrowed it down to 3 diff modems that seem to work for me...what ver of GB are you running?
Sometimes in my area it just is ATT...

I have the same problem as well, it seems that I cannot download mms texts on wifi but it seems like they download via data...occasionally. Maybe you should try downloading the message via data and report back if that works for you?

I can send MMS just fine, but I cannot receive them from other networks. Upsetting.
im having these issues to but mine has not been rooted. I can receive pictures all day long fine, i just cant send them with any reliability. Restarting when it says "sending" doesnt work to force it send for me. I was in a 3g town yesterday and didnt have much problem sending pics, back in home town today on EDGE and having issues yet again.
Anyone got any thoughts?
I have had the same issue. I was even unable to send a picture through gmail as an attachment yesterday while in a 3g area. today i can send one through my corporate e-mail but still no mms. I have rooted and removed the att junk with ti backup. I dont think i removed anything that would effect mms though. I have also tried a factory reset. It deleted all my apps and settings but i did not have to reroot. It also did not return any of the att programs. Any help with this issue would be great.
had the same issue...could not send PIcs at ALL. took it back, got a replacement and it sent one fine.... then i tried again and didnt work. WTF?
I am an att manager and I have a captivate and have sold tons of others. I spoke with galaxy s support last week and they are going to call me back Monday to let me know if they have a fix yet. The tech said that he got it to work 2 out 10 times trying mms. As soon as i hear the fix i will post for all.

Good to hear we have an insider on board
I seem to be on the same boat, however:
Can't send pictures to my dad (AT&T, iphone)
Or my mom (ACS; local Alaska carrier)
But send em' just fine to my girlfriend(AT&T via LongLines Cellular towers)
Boy does that make sense
I had the same issue with sending MMS but was able to figure out a work around. It appears it is something related to the message size. If I crop an image, and the message size stays under 80kb, it will send with no issues. Not sure what the magic number is where it stops sending but will post once I figure it out.
Non-rooted Captivate, had a similar problem receiving MMS for the first week (purchased July 18th). Specifically, I could not receive MMS from Verizon customers unless they were using a Blackberry. Verizon customers using LG and Samsung phones, I got nothing. Verizon customers using a Blackberry, MMS would come through to me fine. SMS worked fine to and from all carriers and I could send MMS to friends on all carriers (and they would receive them properly, regardless of their device).
Tested with 3 different Verizon customers in 2 parts of the U.S. (cross-country), with Samsung Intensity and LG Envy phones on their end ... none of them could send me MMS. My screen would wake up as if something were coming in ... but nothing would ever come through. Very frustrating. Went to an AT&T store, duplicated the tests on their demo unit with the store manager's SIM installed.
The Fix (for my issue, YMMV):
AT&T's billing system was correctly showing my device as a Samsung Captivate, but their network provisioning system was showing the device field as blank (which apparently defaults the behavior to "non-smartphone," for what it's worth). The tech submitted a ticket to correct that, as apparently everything had to be in order before the network folks would take a look at the problem. Turned out that simply correcting that field fixed my MMS issue (since it registered my phone in the "smartphone" category). Note that I was told that correcting that field usually takes them 5-7 days, since it's not considered critical, but she pushed it through more quickly.
Customer Support
I have to include this bit here, because the customer support I received was amazing and far beyond what I expected. I understand that I may have had better luck than most. Got to a higher level tech with no fuss, and she immediately took ownership and had excellent communication, emailing me and following up with multiple phone calls to keep me in the loop with what she was doing. I've been thinking about switching carriers, but AT&T finally releasing the Captivate (even with the GPS issue, etc.), coupled with this tech's absolutely superb customer-focused support, will keep me here for awhile longer (and I'm definitely going to send her a glowing email saying just that, which I hope she forwards to her supervisor).
All my MMS works but 1 just showed up as a play symbol. It was a wide picture.

Captivate not receiving texts

NY sisters captivate wont receive texts she can send them but not receive. AT&T told her to download something called kaies mini (sp) to her computer and I'm not sure she was confused explaining it. Does anybody have any clue about this?
Also is there any speculation about when the update to allow sideloading is going to come for captivate?

Samsung kies mini is to update the phones firmware. Is she still running eclair? Still not being able to receive messages shouldn't be because she is running eclair. But nonetheless the phone should be updated. Heres instructions how.

Glad I could be somewhat of a help. If the problem still exist I'm sure someone will come around to help you out further.
My Cappy did this twice before. The first one was fixed by pulling the battery while the phone was on. Powered back on and got flooded with all my missed texts. Second time, I had to put my SIM in another phone, got the flood, put it back and everything was normal.
Thanks I told her to try the battery trick and it didn't work and unfortunately she dont have another att phone around yo stick the Sim in so she will go to the store and try it tomorrow
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
she can call the carrier up and have them basically re-activate the phone. I've done this 3 times to fix the same problem.
When I had to do it, I just put the SIM in a buddy at work's P.O.S. RAZR. Worked like a charm. She must know SOMEONE who has AT&T. Just borrow theirs for a minute.
Sent from parts unknown.
Check the "Message Centre" section on the SMS settings. When I left the country and came back it wiped this number from my phone making everything fail. Probably not the issue but might be a good idea to check.

I have the same issue with Simple Mobile. I think the images being sent are larger then what we can accept.
yeah i thought about that also, but it wont even let me send a message out, it just fails at that part too. I have tried using Handcent, resizing the images myself everything.
What I am thinking that it is, is the fact that MMS Proxy settings inside of the APN settings?
any suggestions?

It definitely has a lot to do with apn settings. What I suggest is to find out what is the apn settings for one of at&t's (& Simple Mobile's) Android phone and copy it to the G2x and that should most likely fix the MMS issue. I fixed a myTouch 3g for somebody having MMS issues and all it took was Googling the apn settings of the carrier and then add it to the phone and you should be golden.

Have you checked your APN'S... Cuz that's the part you need to fix if it isn't set up for Att.
Usually you would need APNbackup from market or sideload it and backup and then alter apn for att then restore.
If not try using goSms and fill in mms proxy/apn info

Worth the trouble having to set my phone back up again from ground zero.. Well, it was worth it. feels more like a smart phone.. Better keyboard, more accurate.. Swype works way better With you now..
It is a bit more responsive.. Feels like you get more out of it.. Voice texting works really well. Battery lasts longer.. That's what I got to say.

Well, that's the point of updates. They are supposed to make things better. I'm glad you like it!
I sure hope you don't decide to root. My wife was dead set against me rooting her phone, but she ran into a problem that was best fixed with root privileges, so she gave in. She is glad she did. Downgrading and rooting that phone is a beast for someone new to it.

I tried to root it several times.. As a person that has used custom mods in the past I was looking to see what else there was out there.. Have experienced quirky behavior in the past so now I'm glad I have a stock phone with a decent update that feels good to use as is.

The gingerbread update is what made me fall in love with my phone all over again. That being said...my one and only gripe....and the reason I rooted:
I couldn't send mms without having a data connection enabled. Couldn't receive either. Before the update, I could see there would be a momentary connection to data but only for the quick downloading of the image in the text message, even though my mobile network was off. After the update, it didn't function this way, forcing me to have to hawk my data connection/syncing when not on wi-fi...which was a hassle.
That and the whole CIQ business. Made my stomach hurt.
Sparky....are you saying that you can do mms now without data enabled?
If so, tell me more!

You do realize there's been a rooted and deodexed rom that's stock 2.3.4 right? You could've saved yourself a trip and rerooting. It's also going to take longer to actually root.. but if you like it stock that's all that matters So good luck!

On my stock mt4g (froyo), the Mrs. and I could send mms/sms without having to enable data. At first I thought the sms was going over wifi, after disabling WiFi and trying several different combinations, I noticed that my little H icon pops up only when I send or receive multimedia messages. No H icon for plain text.
Fast forward to the gb update. After updating, the only way I could send mms is while data is enabled. I tried editing the carrier network settings to match my wife's but to no avail. It's clear that the update did something to remove this temporary data connection for mms.
Fast forward to last week when I rooted and switched to cm 7.1. I still couldn't send mms without data enabled. Made me think I would have to make accommodations and live with it.
Then I flashed the virtuousAffinity Rom and Hello!!! Mms with data and WiFi disabled. Again, I'm certain its using data connection for mms, tmo doesn't count it towards usage so its fine. My only sadness now is that affinity is on hold while the team reorganized, but the Rom is gorgeous.
I just started flashing so I'm hoping if affinity falls through, I can find another Rom that let's me do the same.

kinda lost here.........

I'm kinda lost and spent about 2 hrs on the phone with at&t about this. I can send text msges get on the web get emails and everything but i can't receive text msges. They told me think it is because I still have gingerbread instead of the ICS on my phone. Well I'm taking care of that right now, what I'm wondering is will that take care of me not getting my text msges. Everyone else on my account is able to receive text msges but me.
PLEASE HELP

Well not sure exactly why, but had the same problem when my dad switched from an iphone 3gs to an sgs2.. everything worked but receiving messages, eventually at&t removed his old messaging plan and then added a new one and it worked finally. (least thats what they told me they did)
Should go bother them again... and this time don't let them make up excuses (like you need to switch to ICS for it to work)
no never had a iphone hate them.....will never have a iphone
sms doesnt rely on apns, mms does. if you have the right message center number, thats for sending out the texts and it gets that number from the sim card.
if you cant receive texts then its a network problem and its on att head not yours, i agree call them up

Message Centers are for sending only AFAIK, I remember on all my old phones, when I restored to stock and had to reset my number or reset message center for any other reason, I could still get peoples' texts, just not send any.
Either something is wrong with his phone or sim or something is messed up on AT&T's end.
I'm assuming you've never done anything custom to it judging by not knowing about APN's and such, so I don't see how anything software-related could cause it. But if you're desperate, try a data reset just incase but don't get your hopes up. Maybe some security app you might have downloaded is blocking them.
It's under Settings>Privacy IIRC, my phone is broken atm so I can't check for myself.
Edit: And yes, GB to ICS will make zero difference. If that was the case, you wouldn't be able to use custom roms because we have 4.0.3/4.0.4 ICS roms, JB roms now, GB 2.3.5 and 2.3.6, none would work except whatever version the newest ICS that AT&T released is.

if he had problems with his phone he would have more issues than just sms, as sms is so basic that it doesnt rely on anything(just a signal to the tower) to get or send texts, even the dumbest phone can do sms, its the most basic and dumbest communicating tool there is for a phone, my bet its on att's end, call them up and reset or reorder the service for your account.
yes i've never done anything custom to it. so i'm like lost. talking to AT&T again. I hope they can get this working
