Outlook vs Win7 - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, Are there any Windows 7 phones that all direct sync with Outlook 2007 desktop for calender and contacts please?
Thanks

Not sure if I get you right: You want to connect your phone via cable and directly sync without live or exchange server right?
Unfortunately, that's not supported natively (technical incorrect I know but you'll get the point). However, you can fully unlock your phone (all first gen plus some htc & samsung 2gen) and use the WM Device Center Launcher App from ultrashot. This will enable you to do that with the old Windows Mobile Center on your pc.

On WP7.5 no but I think I read an article somewhere that WP8 is rumored to be able too. If so then we are just months away. I hope its true.

Depends on your phone model. I recommend that you take a look at the appropriate device section here on xda
In general, you can say that you have to flash a custom rom on your device. It's possible on all 1st gen devices anfd some 2nd gen.

Treo 700W & BlackBerry Connect.

Is there anyway that I can get BlackBerry Connect to install on my 700W. My company is moving away from exchange, so i will lose my push email. I am in the USA and on verizon so the 750v is out of the question till cingular picks it up or the price for a export comes down.
Thanks - Lil0ne

Here are the install files for the treo 750v:
http://palmone.r3h.net/downloads.palm.com/emea/BBCBISTreo750v.cab
Also here is the link to the manual:
http://euro.palm.com/de/de/support/handbooks/Blackberryconnect_Handbook_en.pdf
Let me know how it works for you.
I have everything installed and I think its gonna work but I just need the Desktop software. I tried to download the one stright from BB but it looks like I need another one.
Its called:: BBC Desktop for Windows Mobile
and the file name is: BBCDesktopTreo750v.Exe
I hope someone can find it.

help with install
Can you take me thru the install? I downloaded the cab file, but do not know what to do next?
I am also on Verizon with a 700w. I had the BIS service when I changed to Treo.
So far this is what I know.
There are 2 things that you need.. the .cab file and the " BBC Desktop For windows mobile "
to install the cab file just copy it to your device / SD card and then " open " it with any file explorer, and it will install just like any other program.
ill update this when I get ahold of the desktop software.

I have setup the BB Connect on my Treo 750v (on Cingular) and everything seemed to install correctly. I was able to provision to my corp. BES and receive the IT Policies. However, I only get a partial icon on the Today screen. Rather then seeing 4 Blackberry icon thingys, I get 2. Which tells me I am not completely connected. I see that I have the service books installed (ALP & CMIME). The "Email Setup" button is disabled under the Utility tab. I have done all the obvious. Selected "Register Now", etc.
I also have the BB Connect plan on Cingular. I previously had a Blackberry Pearl and a Nokia E62 w/ BB Connect. Nothing changed on my account.
Any ideas?
right now im getting the " you account is not provised correctly " or something to that effect. I think its telling me somthing on the BES server is not setup correctly. If anyone has any experience with that please, tell me how to setup my account. I am a IT admin, but this is my 1st time dealing with BB stuff.

Looking at the BB Connect manual, the status icon I am getting is that it's in the process of connecting. I never get to the full BB Connect icon on my Today screen.

I can. I have all the service books installed and the IT Policies downloaded to my device. I am able to see "Connection Available" within the BB Connect software on the Treo. I was able to provision my Treo to the BES and was able to sync using the handset syncing method in the BB Connect setup process.

Make sure you do not have any other Blackberry software installed (i.e. Blackberry Desktop Manager). I had an issue before with that.
I am getting the same provision error. I cannot connect to the BB desktop at all.

make sure you do not have other BB software installed.
I think I know why I am not getting connected. When I spoke to the data support folks, they had me having the Nokia E62 w/ BB Connect on my account. There was no way for me to change the device using the Cingular BB portal. It did not recognize my device (probably because its Vodapone/unlocked). I wonder if they can override the PIN/IMEI number on there side.
How do you get the PIN #? I had one on my BB, but no longer have it.

The BB Connect Desktop software will provide one. If you connect the treo with the BB Connect desktop software, you will see the PIN.
I deleted the old desktop software, but still cannot get into the new wm desktop. I get the same provision error.

What does the exact error say?
The account is not provisioned properly on the server. Please contact the system administrator.

I got around that error by adding my exchange account into BES.
Now i can get the desktop software to connect to my phone

Permanently unlock device when sync with Vista

Hello,
I upgraded my Wizard to WM6 (faria) and I have a problem when synchronizing with Vista (Windows Mobile Device Center).
I have a password on the PDA and each time I connect to my Vista desktop the system asks me to type in the password (actually you have to do it on your PDA, not the desktop itself) to begin synchronization. It's irritating!!!
When I did the same on XP + AS 4.5 I needed to type in the pass just for the first time (then the system asks you if you want to remember it).
Is there any way to turn on this feature (i.e. remember password) in Vista?
Yes I find this annoying as well. I'm using Universal/Dopod 900(WM6)
Hello,
Is there any solution?
That's weird... Exactly the same problem as you lot but when I plug my WM5 phone in it gives me the option to save the password. Seems to apply specifically to WM6 combined with Vista. I would think that this is one of their security "features".
For me it looks like an error not a security feature. Hope they will fix that soon.
Hi
i think this will work!
Go to ActiveSync -> Options -> Security then
Prompt me to ser my policy for automatically connectin my locked device. The propt woll appear the next time i connect my device.
Check the box and i think u r done
ActiveSync??? We're talking about WMDC on Windows _Vista_ for which there is no longer AS. Typo or wrong OS?
How many PCs you can synchronize with WM6?
Guys,
Would you happen to know how many PCs you can synchronize with WM6? Max used to be two with other versions but I'm not sure about this one.
Sorry for posting the question here - I just could find a thread specifically on this issue.
Thanks!

Thank you.
Could you pls elaborate on this? What's WMDC and how does it solve the problem?
Thanks again,
lkmda
It worsk the same as with WM5 - so you will be asked for password (typed on PC) and then again whether WMDC should save it or not.
Just so everyone knows, this is one of the listed fixes for WMDC 6.1 which was released yesterday.
Edit: Hikari beat me to it...

HTC Touch Pro with Intellisync

I can't seem to get intellisync to recognize the touch pro. I click configure and a window pops up and just says connect any windows ce device. No matter what i do it stays like this. I've uninstalled activesync and still nothing.
Has anyone had any trouble with this as well?
Maybe a solution
I haven't looked up what intellisync is, but if it is the same as activesync I might know the solution.
I found that when you run activesync on your touch pro, and then connect your device to your pc, the program ask you how you want to connect the device to your pc. You can choose to use activesync, connect as HDD, and something else.
Choosing to use active sync might solve the problem, else check your firewall.
I just read somewhere you still need activesync to make the connection.
Yea i chose activesync and i disabled my firewall cause i believe wm phones connect to active sync through a port which is stupid but oh well. Intellisync is basically the same as activesync but u can sync with other programs besides outlook.
Still hoping for a solution here but then again i'm not sure if my tilt worked either. This is the first time i've tried it.
Just tested the tilt and it isn't recognized either.
For all those who use intellisync i have been reading somethings online and i don't think its compatible with windows mobile 6.1. Does anyone have it working on any WM6.1 device?
I'm using Intellisync on WM6.1 (Htc Diamond) and it's OK.
Hmmm how?? What version are you using?
Intellisync Mobile Suite 9.0
ClientShell.exe 8.1.0.54
SyncMail.exe 8.0.56.1
Corporate edition (synchronize with LotusDomino)

We also use a Lotus Domino.
Best regards.
I have yet to find a intellisync that will work with my touch pro so i guess i can be of no help.....

[REQ] Best remote sync app? A la Dropbox, etc.

As a long time user of Dropbox, I wish there was an easier way to access my files instead of having to go on the web interface. I detest having to plug my phone into my computer, and actually as of recently, my computer locks up when I plug it in while the WM OS is running (go figure.) No mention of anything in the event log, just nothing. Bootloader works fine so my flash addiction is still valid
Anyways, I see options like Sugarsync (2 computer limit) or Live Mesh (no idea) as possible alternatives that have a WinMo client. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Do you find the m.dropbox.com solution bad? I personally think it works fine, but then again I havent used it very much
Don't get me wrong - it works, but a native app is better no?

Looks great! But when I try to sign up it says that synching of Windows Mobile is "comming soon". Do you have an application for this?
Untested, but try this:

The above link does not work anymore, to get it on your phone do the following:
1. using youe MOBILE PHONE browser go to http://www.mesh.com
2. Click the Login button (if you already have an account, if not get yourself a live account)
3. Once logged in you will see your device wheel click on the orange plus icon to add a device.
4.At the bottom of the dialog you will a link for 'Live mesh for mobile devices' click it.
5. You will then get to a page whihc explains how to install, click on the link in option 2 and it will download a cab for you.
6. Install the cab
7. Run live mesh from your start menu, there will be a message about security (you have to be quick on this step) Check the 'don't show this message again' checkbox and click ok.
8. Enter your live login details and check all of the checkboxes bellow.
Job Done!
Can't get it work with your method. When I log in to mesh.com with my HTC HD2(LEO) I can't se any options for mobile. Only Windows xp and Vista in the drop-down menu, and in the text it says that Windows mobile coming soon.
Anything I do wrong? Tested in both Opera and IE.
Thanks.
Also hope Dropbox soon wil launch a Windows mobile application
Try Kinoma, there is a plug in for box.net and web.dav it works perfekt for me.
