[Q] Trouble with asus transformer. wrong custom rom update!? - General Questions and Answers

I was updating a custom rom on my tablet (TF101) (android revolution ) through the sd card where I had two other updates for a couple of other roms. When I clicked on the update I accidentally clicked on the CM9 update rather than the android revolution and now the tablet is acting up. It won't let me access the internet because everytime i try to connect to wifi it restarts itself. Also, for some reason when I try to do another update through the recovery it won't let me read the sd card. I tried accessing the sd card from ROM Manager as well but rather than go to the sd card it goes to the internal storage. Any ideas? When I get on the home screen a tab keeps popping up saying that "unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped". ANY IDEAS PLEASE WOULD BE GREAT. Normally I can handle these types of things but this one in particular I just can't get. Thanks.....

Don't worry, dude. Sounds like a case for Download Mode and Odin to me. Just use the board search to find some specific informations regarding your device. I would really like to give you some links, but i allready violated the forum rules one time today ;/
Anyways: All you should need is a fitting Odin-flashable ROM and ofc the software odin multidownloader. Good luck fixing it

Sweet
Alright I'll give it a shot and hope it works. I should be able to find the links. Thanks for your help...

Hey i've been doing some research and all the Odins I have found are made for
Samsung products. Is there a specific one that i need for the asus or will those work?

Change your recovery to a external recovery... or you can flash it via ADB. Google the ABD for the Asus... You will need the Android SDK downloaded

[Q] galaxy s2 stuck

hey everybody,
first of all, you need to know that im a noob.
today i tried installing another rom on my galaxy s2. everything went fine until i tried to find the rom on clockworksmod to get it installed. it was not there.
i placed the rom on my external sd card in stead of my internal storage. when i found out i tried restoring to a backup i had made. this failed as well. it said that android_secure.img was not found.
now when i try to boot up it stays on the galaxy s2 screen with the yellow triangle.
so basically all i can do know (to my knowledge) is boot clockwork or enter the downloading mode.
i think that there are three things i can do:
1. somehow install the miui rom from my sd card.
2. somehow get the rom onto my internal storage.
3. somehow fix the backup so i can boot my old rom(place android_secure.img in the right directory).
at this point i would prefer the third option.
do you guys have any idea on how to do any of these three options, preferably the third?
thomas
I'm a noob as well, but if you can get it into download mode, shouldn't you be able to install something like lite'ning rom into it through Odin?
Edit: now that I think about it you should also be able to flash the stock ROM into it, though I've never done that.
seems like it might work. i really don't want to completely brick my phone though, so im going to wait to see if there is another solution. thanks a lot though, that is at least something i can try. anyone got experience with this or knows another solution?
how might i do that? and where can i find the stock ROM?
I'm guessing here somewhere: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
never mind that, i tried flashing lite'ning using odin and it worked!
i now have acces to my internal storage again, so now i can continue flashing miui.
you, my friend, are a lifesaver!
thanks for the quick responses.

Clock work = unreliable twrp recovery = reliable
What Rom did you try to flash can u give me the link please
Agree, use TWRP and not CWM.
What CWM did you install, and what ROM. Maybe another case of installing the wrong recovery or ROM for the Tegra3 One X.

Sounds like you are trying to install a ROM for the quad core version. You better be happy it is giving you a warning, or else you might have had a very expensive paperweight.
When you get to the bootloader screen (the white screen with a bunch of small text and words like "fastboot" and "bootloader") do you see the word "evita" or "endeavoru"? If so, which one? This thread is in the evita forum and the two devices, although identical to the naked eye, re completely incompatible.

Huawei Honor U8860 Android Screw Up

Hi Guys.
I'm at my wit's end with a new Huawei Honor I received for Christmas. It comes with Gingerbread 2.3.6 preloaded but you can upgrade to ICS 4.0.3. It's my first android phone so I didn't really know what I was doing but I decided I'd upgrade.
It said I could upgrade my phone up to ICS 4.0.3 from Gingerbread 2.3.6 so I was keen as it seemed like the obvious choice. I didn't download any custom ROM or anything like that, nor did I root the phone because
A) I didn't know how
and
B) I didn't want to make a bollocks of my first smartphone 2 days after getting it.
I was also wary about where I got these upgrades from and so only used upgrade files from the official Huawei site. First off I tried using the ICS upgrade offered on the Huawei website for my phone.
That's where I ran into problems. Every update (bar the wrong one, in keeping with my luck) gets to about 25% (There's no percentage bar, only a pink line) and says update failed and I have no choice other than to take out the battery and restart the phone. It doesn't do the phone any damage but it doesn't update either.
The update that actually worked is for a non-camera version of my phone that I didn't even know existed. I must have mixed up the two while downloading. That explains why the camera doesn't work but I don't know why my contacts deleted (Backed up prior to upgrade) or my cellular internet service is completely gone.
I tried downgrading back to 2.3.6 with the official Huawei file again but ran into the same UPDATE FAILED! problems as with the installation of the correct ICS file.
Downloading process was;
(1) Downloading the file to my computer
(2) Unzipping it
(3) Transferring across to the phone by USB into a folder entitled "dload"
(4) Going into Settings > Storage > Software Upgrade > SD Card Upgrade
The phone then restarts before getting to around 25% complete and inevitably failing.
I just want it back working on Gingerbread. If it can work on ICS then great I'm not too pushed. I just want to be able to take photos and tweet/check football scores on the go again. I'd like my contacts back too but I'd say that's a lost cause at this stage. Just annoyed that I made such a mess of it trying to upgrade when there was nothing wrong with it in the first place.
I tried linking to the download files but as a new user I can't external link. All the files are the U8860 files from huawei device dot com though.
Any help you guys and gals could give me would be very much appreciated.

I think you'll have to use this downgrade patch first, before you can go back to gingerbread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33000395&highlight=b930+downgrade#post33000395
after you download the upgrade patch, its just the same as installing any other firmware.
1) copy the dload folder to sd card
2) go to settings and disable fast boot
3) shut down phone
4) start the phone while holding the + and - and power button at the same time
if you did all this, then normally you'll get a screen that says firmware upgrade. If this is finished, download the official gingerbread rom or ice cream sandwich rom from the huawei device site, and do the process all over again.
and if you really want ice cream sandwich, I recommend to follow this after you have your gingerbread working again:

hope it helps!

Thank you very much. I could really have used you last night. Unfortunately I followed the advice of someone else who seemed like they knew what they were talking about on a different forum. I rooted the phone and was told to replace a file in the image folder to get cwm. I did everything he said to and now I can only access pink screen although my device is not recognized on the computer despite downloading the abd drivers. I get an error message reading "Image signature verify fail" A similar problem has come up a few times on a couple of different forums on here but none of the solutions suggested have worked for me.
I know that ye lads are developers not a free help service but everyone on the other forums suggested I ask here as you guys mess around with mod ROMs so much getting back to stock would be child's play.
Basically now I'm stuck with:
A rooted Huawei U8860
An "Image signature verify fail" warning
ICS software that is for a slightly different make to mine causing bugs
Access only to pink screen
No recovery mode
A phone that is not recognised when connected to my computer by USB in pink screen mode
I've tried searching a good few terms such as "Huawei U8860 firmware update fail" "ABD not recognised by PC" "Huawei Honor ABD files" all of which have brought me no joy.
Like I said I know yous like modifying ROMs and not helping Android noobs who can't even read what they're downloading but I'm really stuck here. The closest place to my house that is certified to fix Huawei phones is a good 20+ miles away and they want €30 with no guarantee they'll be able to fix it. I'm a music student I just can't afford it. Thank you again and hopefully you can help me a bit further with this nightmare. It's been like this since a couple of days after Christmas.

hmm, I think I can help you with that.
you'll need an SD card reader, but basically every laptop has one nowadays. so, if you can access your SD card on the pc,
1)put the dload folder of the ICS non-camera version you used on the SD card
2)then put it back in the phone
3)hold the + and - volume buttons and power button in until the firmware installation starts
if that worked, you'll be able to do the steps I said earlier to go back to gingerbread.
good luck!

Nope that doesn't work either. I've had to send it back to Huawei to be repaired. I appreciate the help though. I'll thank your posts.

boring rom installation problem question. help much appreciated

hi, first time poster here.
i have searched exhaustively on this site and google for hours but, couldn't find an answer to my question. desperately in need of some help please
i recently purchased a Jiayu G3 and installed JellyBean. turns out Wi-fi and bluetooth now don't work due to incompatibility of my older version phone model. i found an alternative rom to install on the forum here with instructions but, i am having a problem...
apparently i need to install mobileuncle MKT tools so i can do recovery update and use clockwork mod (CWM) to install the new rom.
problem is i can't download mobileuncle tools. my wi-fi isn't working and i cant download it via my mobile network. i get error 927 when i try to download it via the play store. this could be due to a really poor connection speed, for some reason. after 10 minutes of trying to download the 1.02mb file it eventually fails.
would it be possible to download the mobileuncle tools via my laptop and then put it on my phone on my SD card? i havent been able to find anywhere to download it online and then i am not sure where or which folder i would put it in. if this works, does anyone know please?
or perhaps there is another way i can install a rom? to be honest i would be quite happy to just restore the stock ICS. i just want to start using my new phone...
thanks in advance :good:
hi, just to provide an update, i have managed to install mobileuncle tools but the flash recovery does not work
i have been following the instructions from here
watch?v=yuXdOjXQwGo[/url] (i can't post links yet according to forum rules but that is a youtube link)
instead when i reboot in recovery mode i just get the picture of the little android guy on his back with his front open and an exclamation mark displayed.
i know this is tedious, but please, any help would be great. i'm stuck
i tried following the instructions on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163707
i managed to do it all or so i thought. after unzipping the rom i restarted the phone but it gets stuck on a CyanogenMod logo. after half an hour of the loading ring going round i don't get any where. i have tried doing it in safe mode but same problem
please someone, help
taking to myself here
well I have managed to get past the screen. however, the rom i used does not work still does not allow the wifi and bluetooth to work.
does anyone know where i can download the original ICS stock rom for the Jiayu G3?

PTAB780 Polaroid Kids Tablet 2 (southerntelecom)

Anyone here on XDA have this tablet? I can't seem to find any info on the internet about it.
I need to reflash it, as the OTA (1.3.1) update failed. It just boot loops between the recovery and the Polaroid logo. Unfortunately Southern Telecom support is telling me there is no update. There is no downloads on there support website for this tablet..not even the original firmware..they want me to send it back to them again. (last time it took two months cause of a screen issue)
It's my sons christmas present and he likes to read books on it.
I am able to connect by ADB, and I pulled the files, but it appears that most of the system files are gone
If someone could provide the OTA.zip URL or somehow pull the system files from it that would be soo helpful.
Thanks.

Polaroid Kids Tablet PTAB780 and User Guide and Updates that won't download
I purchased two of the Polaroid Kids Tablet 2, model PTAB780 for my grandsons for Christmas. I’m setting up games that I know they like to play on their parent’s phones. I’d like a user manual to help me understand the tablets. They came with a Quick Start Guide but I want, no need more. When I look online I only find a user guide for model PTAB750 but once I got it downloaded I see it is just another Quick Start Guide. Even if it would help, when I try to print, it wants to condense it to just one sheet.
On both of the tablets, the AppShop home screen will not load (see attached picture) and I’m afraid that it is draining the battery. Is there a way to remove this widget from the home screen? Is this being addressed in the OTA Update Kids Tablet Version 1.3.1? I’m having difficulties getting this to download, I’ve tried four times now with no luck, Yesterday after 8.5 hours, the download stopped at 612.68 MB with no reason why it stopped. Today it stopped after 7 hours and the message I got is DOWNLOADING FAILED, PLEASE CHECK YOUR NETWORK. This last time I had half of it downloaded and there was nothing wrong with the network as I was using my PC at the time with no problem. I’ve tried downloading with nothing else using the network and that didn’t help.
I clicked in the link in the above post where It was posted a solution was but when there I found no answer other than to install a MEGA app.
I will call (1-877-768-8481) or email ([email protected]) tomorrow about this problem and see if there is a way they can email me this file to my home PC and if it could then be transferred to a micro SD card and some how be uploaded from it or do a transfer via a USB cable but there again a User Guide would be great to answer questions I have.
I really need assistance as I'm trying to get these tablets set up for my grandsons before Christmas.
Thanks.
Thank you for the link!
Can you give me some quick instructions of how to re-install the rom please!
Thanks
frimware
Hello friends
I have tablet PTAB780, need frimware.img you have this frimware or recovery.img ?
You can do a backup for me, I to delete the old frimware from a tablet and now to have a problem (((
Wait your answer very soon.
BR Alex
I do not have IMG files for the PTAB780, and none are online. I suggest contacting support @ http://southerntelecom.com/polaroidsupport/ and requesting it.
I just the OTA.zip which can be used in the recovery on the device via apply update from zip.
My son no longer has this tablet as the wifi busted on it, so now he has an IPAD mini.
