[Q] insufficent storage available - General Questions and Answers

Im a noob and this is my first post here. I found applanet and luckypatcher and decided I wanted fpse so I could play psx games. The emulator never worked right and I think luckypatcher was screwing with something in my phone plus I just had an icky feeling about it. So I uninstalled them both and tried to buy fpse from the market they took my money it says purchased but now it wont install it because of the storage error. I think there is something left over from luckypatcher in the file system on my phone that the market is recognizing but im sure. Can somebody help me out

Wow 116 views and no replys. I guess theres no love here.

If you have rooted your phone you can try to inspect the /data/data directory and look for something big.
But the most common solution for this problem is to uninstall apps and free some space.
Good luck

If you get the insufficient storage space message even when you have space it's because you uninstalled the app after you 'fixed dalvik cache changes' with lucky patcher. I would try wiping the cache along with data for both programs, reboot and try again.

I have un installed both luckypatcher and fpse deleted any left over files ran sd maid and wiped both cache in x recovery. I was trying to update busybox today and it said that my root might not be installed correctly and I was having a root issue with another program so I might flash back to stock and start over. Im running locked bootloader version of doomkernel v06 I think that the unlocked version might be more stable for my x10i because it freezes during the custom kernel logo quite a bit. Thanks guys

Not enough room to update app?

I'm trying to update a LWP from the market but after it downloads it says it can't install due to 'insufficient storage'. I have roughly 45-47 apps (this includes apps, skins for better keyboard, and LWP's) after deleting a few apps and I still get this error. Any idea why? I'm holding off on going the APP2SD route until after the official 2.1 is released and our devs make it worthy of installation.
Under 'running services' it says: Avail 48mb+0.00b in 8 Other 0.00b in 4
In 'internal phone storage' it says: 19.02mb available
Currently running Fresh 2.0d
Also, does anyone know why Keepscreen from the market runs at startup? I only want to use it with Google Nav, which isn't often, and it bugs me that its in running services at every boot. If this cannot be adjusted, what similar app is out there than only runs when needed?
google nav stays up on its own for me, check the settings. And you may be out of room in the dalvik cache or the data/data section. Had that problem, so I enabled a2sd for dalvik cache, and no prob now. Running 102 apps, showing 88mb free internal storage.
Well I tried clearing cache using cachemate, cleared dalvik in recovery, and deleted 3 games bringing my available internal storage to 35mb and still can't update the LWP that has the update available.
Why isnt a2sd worthy of installation?
we had it on 1.5 with source and everything to it.
Its the same thing on 2.1, nothings changed.
The Only change would be on 1 rom that can use ext4 now.
When 2.1 is released a2sd wont be changed.
I get this error with handcent updates on fresh 2.0d also. After it errors I have to go into recovery and "fix apk uid" mismatches or i cant install it. Also i am using a2sd 2.5, Probably of no help, just sharing.
I had the same problem with 2 apps I tried to update and got out of memory errors.
I used root explorer and went to /data/data and deleted the app, after that I was able to install.

Oh its worthy, I made sure to buy a class 6 to use it. I just don't want to go through the trouble of setting it up until we get an optimized official 2.1 so I can format my card and get everything set so I don't have to make any big changes. I'm a bit burnt out from the dozen 2.1 flashes of different roms.

I just saw an update for another app and it worked, but still not the LWP. I uninstalled/reinstalled and everything is ok now. Go figure. My phone was also being really slow and a lot of processes were stalling after wiping dalvik but seems like its behaving now.

Angry birds pigs wont die after 1.4.2 update and data restore??

So I have had issue after issue getting the new version to even INSTALL.. but finally got it after totally deleting the older 1.3.5 version and wiping cache, restart etc.. new install of 1.4.2.. everything works fine....
BUT....
After using titanium backup to restore data there is some kind of bug that makes the birds virtually worthless. I get the data back (levels etc) but when I go try to beat an old level the birds litterally bounce off the pigs without causing ANY damage.
Ive done this 3 different time now, totally removing the game, reinstalling, verified to work "normal" before data restore... and again, not working after the data is refreshed.
PLEASE HELP!

Fix for "Application not installed message" and "Installation unsuccessful" on Rooted HTC Hero with FroydVillain 1.5.
I couldn't install Angry Birds and some other applications on the Market after installing
FroydVillain 1.5 and after some debugging I found out why. There seems to be a problem related to
the file "/mnt/secure/asec/smd12tmp1.asec".
Solution: Delete the corrupt file with a terminal app and also delete the market data to be sure.
1. Get "Terminal Emulator" or another terminal app from the Market.
2. Run the "Terminal Emulator".
3. Write:
su (ENTER)
rm /mnt/secure/asec/smd12tmp1.asec (ENTER)
rm /data/data/com.android.vending/cache/* (ENTER)
4. Exit the emulator, reboot and try to install the failing application again.
5. If the above doesn't solve your problem try the following:
- Wiping cache
- Wiping dalvik cache
6. If this doesn't fix your problem just wipe the phone and reinstall everything

It SEEMS to have worked!
I know this is kind of an obscure problem that no one else will probably ever have, but figured Id update it just the same.
same thing happened to me, I just restored the older version with the data and then updated the app over the market..worked fine after that
i could never get it to update over the market for some reason... always had to unmount the SD to get it to work.. but couldnt install from the market or save to phone without SD in.
I ended up saving to sd and using root explorer to move it onto the phone, unmount sd, do a cache wipe, install from phone, remount sd. whew!
its updated now and i have successfully done a titanium backup several times. (Thank God)
I have similar issues with fruit ninja attempting to update but just gave up on that one.

[Q] Market not working: "Download failed", tried everything.

I know that there are tons of threads about this but none of them have helped. My market just will not work. It shows it downloading, then displays the message "Download failed" for a split second and disappears.
I have an HTC Desire (BravoC/CDMA) with the latest version of CyanogenMod 7 Nightly and ClockworkMod 2.5.0.9 for recovery. I also have Firerat's Custom MTD Partition. Details and links to all these can be found in my signature.
I feel like I've tried everything. Uninstall updates, Installed latest GApps, Installed old versions of GApps, Installed leaked versions of Gapps, cleared cache, formatted device.
This has been happening since the new market website was released. It really sucks, I can't update any apps or download any new apps.
If anyone can offer any help or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you
Try removing SD card then try again. I had the same problem with my galaxy s I removed SD card backup on PC then I formatted it put it back in and market works perfect, don't ask me why but this worked for me
Sent from my Ideos using XDA App
a little weird thing i noticed is,if i have checked the box that allows applications to be download to the external(Apps2sd) whatever i try to download, will be resulted with Unsuccessful. When i unchecked it, my downloads were successful.
See if you have it checked.
I discovered that it was a problem with the CSC file. I had exactly the same issue with a 'mixed up' firmware. Download would not work at all from the market. Anyhow, I flashed the phone (galaxy s) with a different CSC file and the market started downloading.
the only thing I had changed was that file.
So u may want to consider that Hope this helps.
I think there is also a possibility of going to applications --> market, and then stop & clear data.
same situation here...
re-flash the rom and market won't download anything.
But it's strange that I can install apps from web market.
i know i'm at the wrong thread but could somebody help me pls with sgs gingerbread im stuck at on command where it is saying that busybox is not a valid command and thats its not recognized
Thanks for all the suggestions guys, after some time I have discovered what was causing the market issue. It was the Firerat Custom MTD Partition Mod the whole time. Apparently the new version of the market deals with downloads a little differently now and doesn't get along with Firerat's mod.
So now the waiting game begins for a new update from Firerat.
Hi,
NOt a solution, but I found a workaround for this issue on my phone.
I am using Hyperdroid GBX V8 on my HTC HD2 now. From last 2 days I was struggling with this problem. I tried all solutions I found with google. Clearning everything and Reflashing, clearing the market and caches for other apps, reflashing, unmount/mount SDCARD and so on, smaller bigger recovery partition, without EXT3/4 partition.
Still the problem exist on the phone. But I found a workaround. Logon to market.android.com using your google id and password, select the app you want to install and click install. if your phone is up and live, it will be installed in a few seconds.
In other words, pull doesnt work, but push works .
Thanks.

[Q] wind-up knight help

Hi guys and gals. Ive got a few folks on thegalaxytab trying to get the game - wind-up knights.
They keep getting messages when they try to install saying theres "not enough storeage space".
From what i gather its something to do with the market cache space or market storeage on the gtab.
Is there any remedy for this without rooting?
If anyone wants to have a go at installing it via the market then its free - i dont have my gtab anymore so im struggling to help solve it.
Cheers in advance
Same error
I'm have the same error after click the download button. My phone is rooted and I'm sure that it has enough space in both internal (I have just formatted my internal SD and installed a fresh CM 7.1). It's weird because the same problem was happening before installing CM 7.1, when I was using stock ROM.
The exact error message is: "Error downloading "Wind-up Knight". There is insufficient space on the device."
Hmmm I was going to ask what rom are you running. I'm running cm7 ATM and I installed it no probs. Try updating market to 3.3.11 (or whatever the latest is if that's not right...). Try wiping data/cache on market app? Sorry can't be of more help, it worked fine for me...

Already tried
I already have Market 3.3.11. This problem was also happening with stock ROM.
Already tried clearing cache and data for Market and Download Manager applications (as advised by Market help pages and some other forums - try a google search). But no success.
I had the same error, although not on the first download, it was when downloading the update. I just tried it again and it worked fine. I did see other people getting the same error too.
Huawei X5 running Oxygen btw
After reading this post, tried downloading from market, worked fine.
I'm using BOCA rom 2.3.7. Works fine...
Increase your cache memory. It will help..
I had this problem before and simply.fixed it by clearing my memory cache using "acCleaner Pro". Try it and let me know if it also work for your tab.

[Q] 'SPB Shell could not be installed...'

'...free up some space and try again'
I keep getting this error when trying to install the SPB shell (I had it before with Angry Birds as well). I have had it installed in the past and there is more than enough room in all areas of the memory and storage.
Any ideas, I see that someone asked the same question about 2 years ago but got no response.

solution is on many posts, i din't search will. If wiping the dalvik and other cache wont work, then go to /data and delete the odex files of the SPB shell or any app which is giving such error. Then it should install and work fine

I searched high and low for this, wiped dalvik 1000x's. This is the first time I've ever seen /data odex file mentioned. Thanks for posting it, even if you included the customary jackassary of "use google." Google is what brought me here.
accidentally found the way to installed it..uninstall the SPB shell, run the patcher again to clear data. It says something like "used odex file removed". Then do the installation again..
Or use ES file explorer and use the search function for all files containing spb and you will find a file called Thumb_com. spb yada yada, delete ity and try to reinstal the app. Use lucky patcher BEFORE you even open the app
