Hi,
I would have posted this in the development forum in the appropriate thread, but I'm prevented from doing so due to silly forum rules.
Im using the CM9 nightly on my I9023, currently the 20120609 build. These nightlies have the custom lock screen which I would love to use with my own shortcuts.
Unfortunately, due to corporate rules I need to have the password lock enabled, which until recently prevented me from using the custom lock screen. But since a week or two the nightlies have a new option "Show widgets before unlock".
Enabling this indeed shows the custom lock screen, but selecting anything other then a direct-dial icon just presents me with a password prompt. If I then type the password I find that the application I had selected, such as the camera is running behind the lock screen.
Is there any way around this such that I can launch applications without typing in the password, such as make a picture?
Another issue is that I only get to use the custom slider lock screen 1 time, after that I immediately get the password prompt each time. Until I type in the password and then lock the phone again. After that I get one more use of the custom slider lock screen.
Honestly you probably don't want to be able to bypass the lock screen by simply tapping a widget or else it would completely defeat the purpose of having a lock screen since anyone who found/stole your phone could simply open an app from the widget then press the home key to get into your phone. I know it doesn't answer your question but I just feel like it's worth mentioning.

So I have the LockBot Pro on my HTC Hero and was loving it over the last few weeks as I have start customizing my phone (Non-Root.) I have been using the option to swipe and then enter a 4 character numerical code to unlock the phone.
Today I happen to notice that when I bring up the lock screen where you either have to swipe and/or enter the code, instead of doing either, if I just hit the call button, it bypasses it all, therefore making the purpose of the lock screen pointless. I wanted the lock screen with the numerical pin code for security purposes, and hitting the call button to bypass is not acceptable to me.
Do I maybe have an option set incorrectly that is allowing this to occur or is this a bug in the program?
Can anyone recommend me a good, sorry, a great Lock Screen APP (Preferably) one where you can set some kind of code you must enter to unlock the phone?
Thank you,
Whiteice
Hello,
I'm using a stock HTC Desire with Android 2.2 and would like to lock the screen with password, but only when I say so.
I don't want the screen to be locked with password after timeout. I want to be able to lock the screen with password, but only when I want it to be password protected.
Is this possible?
In devices lower than 2.2, you can use a toggle to turn password protection on/off. I'm pretty sure you can't with 2.2 (for security reasons). The toggles will take you to the settings page, where you could do it manually. I don't know of an actual way to do it, although it may be possible with Tasker. Probably not though, due to the limitation in the OS.
hmm..that would have been a cool feature, hopefully might be able to figure this out sometime, if it is even possible :/
Or just to be able to set the timeout for like 1 hour and then to be able to lock it when I want to (when I know I won't be near it and don't wont for somebody else to read my messages).
BlackBerry, for instance, has the lock icon which locks both the screen and password protects it. Nokia has the lock option when you hit the power switch. Android, which has an enormous amount of cool features, doesn't have this?! :/
I will take a look at this later, it might be possible to just call the lock screen from a widget, without permanently enabling it.
interesting idea, toggling the password every time im surrounded with people, and untoggle it when im alone )
The only other alternative to this is to have it set to be locked immediately & then use No Lock to entirely disable the lockscreen when you don't need it to be password protected. The only problem with this is you won't have a lockscreen at all & your phone will wake up with the volume buttons.
What I do, which isn't nearly as protected as password protection, but does the job for most situations, is use Widgetlocker. You can use a transparent slider so you know where to drag & unlock but no one else does. Or you can go with no sliders & just use the back button to unlock and set the back press duration to a couple seconds. No one will know unless they know Android & Widgetlocker well. Just don't put any shortcuts on the screen as once you're in an app you can press the home button. Or you could use a transparent slider to toggle interactions. When you want to be able to launch your shortcuts, toggle interactions on & then toggle them off when you want it locked.
If you need more help with this, feel free to pm me.
Also note that Widgetlocker is a paid app... $2-$3, I can't remember how much exactly. But it's totally worth the money.
Is there a way to bypass the swipe up lock screen after initially turning the screen on and going directly to the pattern lock screen? Annoying to have to unlock twice. Automatically did this when enabling pattern lock on my previous phone.
Any apps for this?

if you disable the sense lock screen you will have my problem... where there is still a 'slide to unlock' screen to which you cannot get rid of either... you can try a program 'antilock' and set it to skip the lock screen... but it kind of swipes the screen for you and you still see the screen then it dissappears
painful i know but this kind of just how it is
As above there isn't much you can do about it with the stock sense rom. Sense just isn't designed that way. Rejoicing the sense lock screen replaces it with the aosp one and also breaks the alarm clock.
On the other hand Cyanogenmod lets you disable the lock screen when pattern lock is enabled and many other lock screen customizations. If you aren't into rooting your phone its not really an answer though.

Thanks guys. I am rooted, but no mods for this yet...
I too would like to remove lock screen so it can go straight to lock pattern. if you remove htclockscreen.apk you cant see who is calling you until you unlock screen. I think I read somewhere its because there no aosp roms out there for the sensation yet.
cant wait for cm on sensation...

Look in the edit build promp thread in dev section set the associated press menu to unlock string to true ans reboot.. Then just press the menu button which will rid the slide to unlock page almost instantly thereby allowing for faster access... I find it the best work around for now

I just updated from Gingerbread to Jelly Bean. In GB I had the pattern set on the lock screen. After I input the pattern, it would require me to swipe to unlock. At the time I thought this was annoying that I had to do both.
With Jelly Bean, the lock screen shows the weather and calendar as well as allowing me to swipe in different directions to access different apps. I love this new feature. However, I also want my phone to be secured so I would like to have the pattern security on. Ideally when pressing the power button I would be presented with the "slide" lock screen with the calendar/weather and choice of sliding a direction for apps. Then when I slide to unlock or go to an app, it would ask for the pattern security before letting me in. This would allow me to secure the phone and entire directly where I want to go. It would also allow me to quickly see the weather info or calendar without entering a pattern first.
Does anyone know if this is possible to do? I love the slide lock screen options, but I feel the need to secure the phone with a pattern/pin/password as well.
It pretty much works just like you described. The only exception being that after you enter the pattern lock you don't have to swipe.

I know, but I'd like to have the swipe screen there first. That way I can swipe directly into an app and/or see the calendar/weather before I have to draw the pattern. So when I press the power button, I'd like to be presented with the swipe screen first, then after swiping to an app or to unlock, it would ask me to supply the pattern/password/pin. That way, I would get the advantages of the swipe screen and the security of the pattern/password/pin.
I'm just wondering if there is a way to force it to work like this, but I'm guessing there isn't.

Does anyone know how to change which apps are shortcuts on the lock screen? Currently, I can drag the lock ring right to unlock, up for phone, left for camera, and down for text messaging. I'd like to replace the down shortcut with Google Voice.
I am running the JB soak test with root.
Thank you!

I asked the same question at androidforums in the Photon Q section there. From the answers I received (or lack thereof), my guess is that they can't be changed without changing the lock screen altogether. Apps like GoLocker (which I believe requires GoLauncher EX also be installed) or WidgetLocker (a paid app) will do the trick, but if there is a way to do it with an out-of-the-box phone, I have yet to find it.
Since I'm here, I'm wondering, does the Photon Q have the ability to turnt he lock screen off? as in, you can set the phone's home screen or whatever you were last doing to come up when you hit the power button to turn the screen back on, instead fo going tot he lock screen. I would assume that ability is retained, but since Moto apparently changed the lock screen, I wonder if they removed that function thoughtlessly, as some are known to do.

yes you can set the phone up in JB to have no lock screen. Hit power button and return to last screen viewed.:good:
