Ever since I rooted I have not been able to get into recovery to flash anything. Is this because I rooted and have to have clockwork to get into recovery now? I was stock rooted 1.73 now stock rooted 1.85 OTA
Thanks

How did you update via OTA to 1.85 and keep root? Does the OTA not take your root away? I'm only asking because 1.85 isn't rootable at the moment. Did you ever unlock your bootloader and install a custom recovery when you were on 1.73?
I rooted 1.73 then used Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper to keep root while I did the OTA to 1.85. I never unlocked or installed a custom recovery mostly because this is a company provided phone and didn't want to go that far. This phone is so much different than the Rezound I came from and I'm kinda gun shy I guess. Lol

Gotcha. Your phone still has the stock recovery. You need to unlock your bootloader and install one of the custom recoveries before you can flash anything.

That's what I figured. I guess I need to "grow some" and just do it.
Thanks!

Quick flash a custom Rom. But really, customs Roms have ota disabled.

That's the only thing that worries me about not using a ROM. I just rooted and de-bloated stock 1.85. One day it'll come, and it'll either unroot and lock me or it'll fail and I'll have to flash the next RUU and do it all over.
Wait so your on 1.85, and its still giving you the ota?
Wait there has to be an app that manages ota, try freezing update manager or similar things to try and stop it.
Just throwing ideas I'm on CleanROM Lite so not much help.

ota root keeper
I came across this app: OTA Root Keeper by Project Voodoo, which backs up your .su
I'm on CleanRom 5.5 so no use for me...
My recomendation:
1) Root Now and protect with RootKeeper
or..
2) Delete the OTA zip file in /sdcard/download (not sure if this will work)

hello i have a att tmobile unlocked on tmobile i have the build number 1.73 and i want the 1.85 so i can root it and install custom roms!! does any one know the easiest way to do this? im a noob and really need help
You don't want to upgrade to root, look for the old one click root, it works on 1.73, then the one click downloader unlock, and then install twrp recovery and flash away.
Well you can upgrade, but I think the rooting process is easier on 1.73.

I was on stock 1.73 rooted, i had root keeper installed as well, i updated via ota to 1.85 and then used root keeper to reroot, it worked fine and I'm still rooted. I don't know how it worked but it did.

Nope. Keep 1.85 or unlock your phone. Root will not work, even with rootkeeper. The previous update allowed rootkeeper, 2.20 will not.

Does it matter if I'm still on 1.73?

If you have unlocked your phone through HTC dev and have your unlock token you can lock bootloader ruu back to stock take the update unlock bootloader with previous token and root and install custom recovery again . Not sure why you want to take the update the hboot has been upgraded and breaks the ability to flash boot images through recovery you would have to manually flash them from pc.

Rooted 2.20 (flashable from recovery) is already posted in Development. Just flash that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812459
If you want to try the 2.20 radio, its posted in the radio compilation thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694012
I have no idea why people are always so anxious to install OTAs when safer and easier methods exist.

edit: Moved post to PSA thread
Hello,
i have to unroot my girlfriends htc one s, because we need the warrenty of the divice.
at the moment there is the newest trick droid installed.
so how to get back to stock? ive done this on my one x before so i know i have to:
install stock recovery
relock bootloader
run ruu
BUT
i had huge problems finding the right ruu for the stock recovery flashed.
could i flash the stock recovery from PaulOBrien thread and then flash he UK vodafone ruu? or will be some mismatch like on my one x ? i would need the vodafone uk ruu, because it was a vodafone device.
is it a MUST that the recovery version matches thes ruu version? at my one x it kind of happend. is there any chance to see what version the stock recovery of PaulOBrien have?
greetings and thanks alot
Go to super su ..... settings scroll to bottom and click full unroot

but this wont give me the stock rom, does it?
or could i run the RUU then?
Phone will still say relocked in bootloader no matter what you do I believe.
T-MobileUS HTC One S
thats ok relocked just mean it was unlocked, but nothing it was ever a custom rom on it
but i got the solution in another forum
just relock bootloader, enable usb debug und go to the ruu
greetings
I think it does go to stock rom

Your warranty might not come back, since you have rooted it you might be declined.

I'm looking to install AOSP rom (ATT HTC One X, unlocked using with T-MO)
I'm following:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38304611&postcount=1
The thread says its required for people who received OTA update, I wanted to know is it still required if I didn't get OTA update? (still using ICS)
Thanks
