Disable tap-to-click on dock? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know this question has been posted before, but I recently started using Jump Desktop and noticed that it disabled the tap-to-click function only (while the remaining touchpad functions continued to work) - this works sooo much better this way!
Any way to do it system-wide in ICS? Obviously, it *can* be done via software since Jump Desktop disables it somehow... I'd be willing to pay a buck or two for this!

I'm sure it'd involve editing the keymappings to show as blank. I could look into it more if you'd like.

Unless they enable the "Read-to-me" feature on the Nook app the NC will be unbeatable! Gonna install the Nook app now; after switching from the XOOM I completely forgot about that one!
Starting yesterday, my Nook app seems to repeatedly reset to page when I'm reading anything (magazine, eBook, etc). It will go blank, and then about a second or two later, the screen returns with the menu overlay. Happens about once a minute, makes it really hard to read. Odd that it just started happening.
I'm going to downgrade and root this week anyway so I can do a factory reset for 3.1, but I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this in case that doesn't fix things.

Questions, please help

1. How does one connect the transformer to a HDTV? Is the appropriate equipment in the box?
2. How does one Swype on the UK version of the Asus keyboard?
3. How do I change the speed of animations?
4. Is there a keyboard shortcut for the multitasking button?
5. How do I speed up internet?
Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

I can try to answer some of these for you.
1) You need an HDMI cable with one end as a micro hdmi. It does not come with it. Heres the one I use.
2) Go the to the main swype beta home page with your tablet (in tablet mode), it wont work if you have it in desktop mode. Sign up for the beta and download beta.
3) I dont think you can. If your getting lag use the Asus Task Manager widget to kill background apps. There really shouldnt be any lag though. This is one of the smoothest tabs Ive ever used.
4) ??
5) If your internet seems slow I doubt its the tablet. More likely your router, or internet type. I get almost 35mb/ second with mine.
Hope that helps.
Thanks a lot, you did help.
1. Does anyone know how tablet remote works?
2. Would you recommend that one buys Norton tablet anti virus for £50? What does it offer that the free ones don't?
Thanks

You can use right alt+tab for multitasking on the keyboard
You can swype on the main asus keyboard without downloading the swype beta. Im using perfect keyboard from the market however and i prefer it to the stock one as it is split so you can use it with your thumbs
Animations cant be sped up in the stock ROM, but I think the modified buildprop posted in the DEV section increases them slightly (correct me if wrong). On my phone I was able to increase the transition animation speeds using an app called "spare parts" so you may want to check that out
Internet should be fast. Ive noticed its actually faster than my laptop. If by speeding up the speed of connection TO the wifi hotspot, again try using the modified build.prop as that has some tweaks in it.
About antivirus, I wouldnt bother with it. It just slows the tablet and I think its unnecessary unless you are really lack confidence with technology. The same principles apply for the using PCs - if you dont trust something you downloaded off the internet, or from an email, dont open it! I have been without antivirus for years on my home PCs and phones and have never had a problem because I know what im doing. I would suspect that the main reason for antivirus on android is just for the companies to make a load of cash by scaremongering.

Thanks greatly for responses. Sometimes the swype on asus keyboard just doesn't work, I didn't know why. Do you need root for the modifiedbuild?
Also, are there any MS paint like apps in play store?

great help welcome..
As a first time tablet user (3 days), i am actually disappointed with the performance of TF300T compare to my wife's ipad 2. To make it worst, she think i make the wrong choice for not choosing apple... Until i arrive to this forum specifically to the topic below ..
TF-300 Minor tweaks and Speed increase(ROOT REQUIRED)
I think i can gain some respect if i follow the topic but....
In the topic, there are so many term that is only suitable for experienced user which leave me (blob, su, ww, etc ). From the topics, it is said, i can do the 'tweak' without rooting (which i dont really know how to do it) but using adb push (which i dont even know the meaning of it) to make it work.
The only thing is comprehensible for a newbie or noob like me is the result. I can make my tablet better than what i have now.
So, if there are any expert that can help me with the topics, please let me know. Any help will be very much appreciated.
As of why i post this here,
i prefer it to the stock one as it is split so you can use it with your thumbs
What did you mean by that dear Sir. I can split my keyboard like ipad keyboard do?
Thanks again. It is my first post in such a forum and english is not my first language.

What do you want to open it with? If it's a newer powerpoint file, like a pptx (office 2010), it may not play nice with a lot of office suites on Android.

[Q][UBUNTU] How well does ubuntu run on the tf101, anyone tried using elcipse on it?

Now that i have the dock i am wanting to try franks tool and dual boot. I have searched for videos of it running but all i have found are people installing ubuntu and not really using it. So my question is how responsive/sluggish is it? And has anyone tried coding in elcipse with it on the TF because that is what I would want to do with it.
thanks for your time.

Ubuntu
Ubuntu is very sluggish in unity(at least for me), but with lxde(i like lxde because its highly customizeable and i am used to use windows) its really fast in gimp, abiword, supertux(XD), libre office, file manager and browser. Watchig flash vdeos works, but its sometimes VEEEERY laggy, and sometimes its ok (maybe because i chosed the method with lopmounted .img on /sdcard, but i dont really know if its faster with the nvflash method.)
All in all, i really like it and normally it is fast with programs, i didnt test eclipse so i dont know how it runs.

I tried
JDK from Sun can't even run cuz it's meant for x86. OpenJDK installed and ran fine. Launched Eclipse on it, click and wait 1s for response. Tomcat ran and served default page without problems, though I didn't test more. Figured I won't be able to code productively with that kind of lag. :silly:
Was running default lilstevie kernel, couldn't get Jhinta kernel to work :crying:
thinks for the input, I knew it wouldnt be fast but I thought if I could make small changes to the code and then email out the apk to my customers it might work in a pinch. that way I wouldn't have to lug around my laptop with me everywhere.

I have noticed something similar with any app that Samsung have messed with such as Polaris office and S-note when using Swype, it also types gibberish. Seems to work on any other app that has been downloaded though. Might be the same issue with Swiftkey.
I'm using the non tablet version that was on sale, but I had no problems with it a couple of days ago when I got it. Just switched to it to see if they broke it in the recent updates. It's all messed up. Restored the backup I made when I got it with TB, and it's fine again. Making a mental note to avoid updating -.-

Version that is working for me is 3.0.1.330.
Yeah, whatever they did after that broke it to all hell. I simply tried typing in "hello how are you" and I was getting back garbled gibberish. As I said, I'm using the phone version, so I'm not even sure if that's related.
Side note, just check it on my phone. It's updated to 3.0.2.337 which is still behind the current 3.0.4... I think I was on 3.0.3 earlier when I tried it on my tablet. The 3.0.4 says it was released yesterday (Saturday). They've been tossing updates at it nonstop for a couple of days now. Looks like the tablet version also got a 3.0.4 update.
I'm at version 3.04 and I'm still not having issues. Updated today sometime. They do tend to muck it up every time they update it, though.

Well it got way much more customization options (you can for example set the width of the split keyblocks so it is easier to type on with the big bezel of the note) and other useful additions. The layouts are much better... typing insstance is very difficult on the keyboard :silly:

Connecting a phone with the Note 10.1 in order to use the phone's keyboard?

Okay so bear with me here. I'm trying to figure out a way to connect my Samsung SGH-I927 (Captivate Glide) to the Note 10.1 so I can use the physical keyboard to type with on the tablet. Is this possible in any way so I can use the tablet as a monitor and my phone as a keyboard?
Sent from my GT-N8013 using XDA Premium HD app
No you cannot do that as to recognize the phone drivers will be required which is not possible
Why dont you just buy a usb keyboard in that case a cheaper option or a bluetooth one
Oh okay, I was just wondering if it was possible. I wanted to find another way for people to type on the tablet without having to buy a new device. Thanks for the answer though.

Sv: Connecting a phone with the Note 10.1 in order to use the phone's keyboard?
There are apps to remotely control other Android devices, isn't it possible that such a solution will work? Since you can control the controlled device both with the actual device and with the device acting as a remote control, you should be able to use your tablet for everything and then just use your phone to write. I've not tried this though, if anything I would like to use my tablet keyboard to my SGS3 but since I can send sms using my tablet there's really no point to be honest.

You understand what I'm trying to achieve here right? It would be nice to be able to type on the tablet without having the virtual keyboard come up on the screen, using your phone as the keyboard for your tablet. (I'm assuming it's easier for most people to type faster on the phone rather than tablet). I'm not talking just sms, more as overall typing in every app, if possible.
Again, this is just a question which I'm hoping that we can find an alternative to using a bluetooth keyboard. It would be helpful for anyone who doesn't want to lug around more accessories for their tablet.

I think so! I'm sorry if I confused you with the talk about sms, that's just a sidetrack why I don't think many have this kind of suggestion.
However, my solution for you would be this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tournesol.tabletremote something like this, an app that allows you to remotely control another Android device including typing words (at least that's what the description tells). So, you use your tablet like you use to do and when you click on something where you wish to write you minimize the software keyboard on the tablet and use the phone instead.
I've not tried the app though, but there's a couple of different apps that do almost the same but in different ways and hopefully someone will do the trick.
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
No, it's okay, i just didn't want to be limited to sms .
I was looking at apps last night but it was late and didn't feel like running tests on different applications. I looked at that yesterday, I'm going to try it out later today. (still in bed at the moment since it's only 6:47 am). I also saw this app, and the interface seems basic. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...m=organic&utm_term=android+mouse+and+keyboard I feel like this could work also. The remote desktop by Kolakowski Damian doesn't let you control the tablet in the manner that you want to.

Well, there's a chance that you have to test a couple of different apps before you find someone that does what you want it to do and more importantly, in the way you want it to. But I can't see why you shouldn't be able to do it, I have the Unified Remote app to control my PC with my phone and typing works great even though I don't get any auto correction. After all, it's a quite simple feature and shouldn't involve too much data transfers that can cause lag if implemented correctly.

Tablet remote definitely works, but there's one major problem to it when you use the physical keyboard on the glide. If I wanted to enter special characters (colon, semicolon, apostrophes) it would not register on the tablet and only certain keys would hit. It works for the regular virtual keyboard on the phone.
If you want an alternative, smaller keyboard for easier typing, try out tablet remote. I'm sure there are more apps which I will look into and post on here.

I'm basically just guessing here, but I think that might be because you are not using the same ASCII codes on your OS as your app. In my opinion that shouldn't be a problem since it should just send the codes to the other device, but if it's converting it to text before sending it over there might be a problem. After all, the most common use for this app I suppose is typing in an URL or maybe search for a song, at least that's that I'm doing when remotely control another device.
If there's not any settings where to specify regions in the app, hopefully there's an app that supports US (?) keyboards.
