Stock p5113 ROM, anybody? - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am getting my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Wi-fi today. I would really like to install a custom ROM, but I am hesitant without the stock ROM to ODIN. I have bricked my Fascinate several times, and I would have been stuck without the stock ROM. However, it's more complicated because the ROM's I use for the Fascinate use an MTD filesystem. Is there a situation where I would be bricked without a way to restore to stock on the gtab, or does that sort of thing not happen? Anyway, is there a stock ROM available and will you link me?

not yet
from what i've read, there isn't a p5113 stock rom yet but time will give us one i am sure. in the meantime, the best we can do is make a backup in CWM before rooting and that would give you an unaltered stock ROM backup to restore from.

[Q] Tmobile Samsung Galaxy 4G - Custom ROM FLashing questions

Ok so I now own a Samsung Galaxy S 4G, and like everyone else the internal memory is nearly full out of the box.
The solution.......... root your phone and install a custom ROM right!
Phone is rooted and ready, but now I have some questions in regards to installing the custom ROM.
1. How do I back everything up in case I need to roll my phone back to the original settings?
2. I have seen things that say ODIN does not work well for flashing at this point and time and may brick your phone, please confirm if this true.
3. I'm currently thinking about Darky's custom ROM, good distro or not? If its not please recommend a better one.
4. To anybody that has installed a custom ROM how much application space did you gain by this change?
Thanks in advance for the help

New here, E4GT Need some help

Hey guys, ok so I am coming from two HTC Heros (CMDA Sprint)
Was running cyanogenmod on both (me and the wife) loved it.
Now that I have the E4GT, I went ahead last week and used ODIN to install LoStKernel.
Now it did give me root and I have used apps like rom toolbox and setcpu.
My main problem is it seems these samsung devices are a lot trickier to tinker with.
Basically I am looking to get Clockworkmod so I can flash roms and make nandroid backups.
From what I have read, I need a kernel that supports and/or has CWM in it.
I tried flashing CWM with rom manager, and it installed - but I have no option to backup/restore I can only flash a zip or clear cache.
There are SO MANY things posted in the development section and I do not know which kernels are the latest, best etc.
I need:
a) CWM/busybox
b) overclocking support
c) FULL stock functionality (no loss of wifi or something stupid like that)
From what I am understanding the kernel is included with a rom. But I can't flash a rom without CWM. So I am rooted but stuck with stock rom and it's kernel.
Confused, lol!
Can someone point me to a proper thread to get me CWM and a well supported ROM to install? Can I get CWM working fully on the stock kernel/rom?
If someone can point me to the right direction, maybe I can find a developer to donate to lol!
No love?
At this point I'm just trying to get cwm. Seems I may have already had it just didn't know it came with lostkernel and now I botched it using rom manager.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
You can actually flash a new kernel with CWM in odin
Thats the easiest method
There are several, as for the best I dont know yet
Im still tinkering with my setup
I guess that's my main issue - I can't find one that has CWM, everything I am seeing is a ROM that needs CWM to install.
If I had CWM I'd be all set because then I can backup my setup and try new things without worry, but I don't want to use ODIN to try a kernel that CWM won't take, or isn't there, and then lose what I have ya know?
All set, seems I flashed a kernel that wasn't what it was supposed to be. I apparently flashed his earlier version (pre-LoStKernel) that did not have CWM5 it it.
Just used ODIN last night to drop in LoStKernel and kept root, but also have CWM5 now. After clearing my SD Card, made my first backup. 1.5GB, jesus! lol. Nearly my whole SD card... yes, it's from my old Hero, so, time to get a 32GB.

[Q] Planning to root and put a custom rom on a friends phone

Hi there, my friend is coming round soon and I was planning to give it a custom rom
Now, I've done this type of stuff before (on my nexus) I just want to see how you would do it for this samsung phone
Now, what recoveries can you get? I use 4EXT on mine
And, can anybody send me to a stable and up-to-date rom that can be used everyday and has nearly no issues? I need one without all the samsung stuff, just a normal default android one
And, how would I go by rooting the phone?
On mine, I used the zergrush exploit, does it work for this phone??
If you want one with everything working, then use the Froyo roms. CM7 is under development. The major bugs are bluetooth and youtube hq. Leaving that, even thats useable. It's even better than Froyo.
I suggest you to try either Kyorarom or Kyrillos v9.6. Both of them are froyo based, pre-rooted, and have other mods to make it even more faster than a stock one.
Happy flashing!

Thanks, and how do I go about flashing the rom, would I have to root it first?
No need.
This is something to good to read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372414
BTW to root the phone use super one click root (or sth like that )
Ah, I get it now, thanks
Just one more question, does ODIN delete the phones data before installing the rom?
You have to wipe all your data after flashing(or not if from Froyo to Froyo)
I mean from recovery. ODIN don't delete user data
I exactly I don't know the working of odin, but after flashing you are directly taken to the recovery and advised to wipe data and factory reset.

[Q] n00b to custom ROMs

Hi, I'm new to flashing ROM's and wanted to give this a try, but I had a few questions (I searched and read the wiki, but I didn't see these specific questions):
I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket on ATT. I'm rooted on Stock GB 2.3.6
1. I wanted to try flashing this ROM([ROM][CyanogenMod 9 (unofficial)][TeamChopsticks][Alpha 1 - 4/26]), Can I come from gingerbread if I follow the instructions in post 1? Or do I need to have an ICS leak installed first?
2. I assume I can revert back to my rooted-stock ROM by using CWM with my current restore point?
3. If I restore the backup from step-2, does it restore the original radio (the UCLA3 radio)? Or am I stuck with the new one? Any disadvantes to just leaving the new one installed?
4. When flashing the new radio, is it just like flashing a ROM in CWM?
5. How would I get all my apps back on the custom ROM? (I know the contacts are linked to the google cloud) I have titanium backup pro installed now, but I read something about not restoring the apps across different ROMs?
6. If I decide to go back to my stock ROM after looking at a few custom ROMs, would I be able to get the ATT OTA updates? (I know I'd need to un-root and un-freeze all the bloatware, but I assume installing the custom ROM's would trigger the flash counter?)
7. I keep hearing about the "yellow triangle" when the flash counter is triggered. Does it only happen at boot and go away after that? Or is it always there?
Thanks in advance!

1) if you're a newb I wouldn't recommend flashing alpha versions of anything
2)You can revert back
3)No, flash a ginger radio before restoring
4)Yes, wipe cache/dalvik cache
5)You can restore apps accross the same OS, but I never do
6)Yes, if you're on official software. It wont trigger unless you flash with odin or sometimes a custom kernel like cm will trigger it. No big deal, we have a counter reset.
7)only at boot, we have counter reset, so no worries
Wow, that was a quick reply! Thanks.
Sorry if I'm dense, I just wanted to clarify two things before proceeding.
Re 1: I also saw another ROM I wanted to try, I guess I'll do that one ([ROM]SKY ICS--- 4.2D-9). Thanks for the heads up.
Re 3: From your response, am I correct to understand I can't use an ICS radio with GB? (it just wont work? or there's no advantage to keeping it?)
Re 5: Same OS meaning inside GB based ROMs or ICS based ROMs? If I go from stock GB to custom ICS, I need to re-download each app individually?

1) very good choice, I run it and it is outstanding.
3)they will have a RIL mismatch. You can use them by deleting the system folder out of it, but I would just use the la3 radio and flash that before the rom. After a full wipe, of course.
5)Right, it ensures everything will be clean and run right.

[Q] Does anybody have a Stock Nandroid or flasheable .Zip I can use for the P31113?

I just took my sister's tablet to get a new charging cable, and they refuse to fix it with CyanogenMod. For some reason, ODIN won't work, and I don't want to go through the flashing/rooting proccess again. Does anyone have a rooted ROM backup, Nandroid, or flashable stock rom I could use? I'd greatly appreciate it.
Take a look at MicroDelta: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225784
For P3113 you need to flash P3110-Rom and after that flash P3113 Update
or
Stockbased Rom powered by NEXT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2326241
What problem do you get with Odin?
Sent from my BlackBerry 9320 using Tapatalk
Well, the tablet has a charging/data port issue, which is why I'm taking it in for repair. I tried bringing it in with CM10 though and was told that the warranty wasn't valid with custom firmware. I lost the backup I made, so I resorted to a flashable .zip.
Sorry, wrong thread. I was testing CM11 for Bionic.
