Wiki says it's optimizing source for many aspects of the software on linux devices. And I googled an saw that some devices already have roms running on linaro codes... Just curious as to if our devs were aware and if it would be coming to us soon...

Nexx and nk111 are aware about this, code is being committed to CM9 repositories and would be available to all devices after review

Yeah, but no Desire S ROMs have it yet,
You should know if you check the Android Development forum... It's the only place we have ROMs...

Ice cold sandwich has the feature...i am currently using it and it is sooper smooth...

Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1502508&page=175 , it has Linaro based ROM. It's blazingly fast (I checked it) but mic was not working and Instagram was causing phone to reboot.

lol why bother when you have muc better roms here, for example Sense 2.1+2.0 mix from Baadnewz, or RCMix, and coolexe and damo are working on sense 3 ROMs, all of them already have gb 2.3.3 or 2.3.4...
It's my personal opinion, but even if they updated to 2.3.4 I would have a custom ROM on my phone... Why not be original?

makes me that much more appreciative of all the Devs work here on xda!
Epic fail
Oho, what a surprise
Oh well i'not jealous anyway, Oxygen is good enough, so close to stock that it's probably even better then the buggy port they would have fed us with. The only thing i'd want from google is launcher and a browser rewritten so that they can use our gpu...other than that any update sounds quite pointless to me.
If we're not getting any "revelations" about that coming to ics (and then i SEE it working with my own eyes, because they LIED about 3.0 getting it), then wp7 here i come babe...
For those asking : "Why so interested in the official update ?"
Our great Devs will take it, and then modd it, it'll be SO fast, as like everything is perfect, then a custom kernel, then a DAMN GREAT ROM....

Hi!
Who be the first on port ICS to Desire HD??????? I`m nervous!!!!
Regards,
Good luck devs. I hope that you will have easy job.
LorD ClockaN says we might need a 3.0 kernel.
This is a bad omen
Still... 3.0 is a natural evolution to 2.6.. not such a HUGE difference (as there was with 2.4 -> 2.6) IMHO
Is this useable for devs or do we have to wait for a port or whatever when it comes out on another device?

3.0 really is just a new tag, there were no major changes involved. at least not in the vanilla linux kernel. i don't know about android as i haven't done any kernel development for android in a while, but i'm sure the same applies..
FUD.
The emulator runs it on 2.6.29

Yeah CyanogenMod is a AOSP developer and builds all of his ROMs and his development team's ROMs from source. This is one of the main reasons why all CM ROMs run so smooth and are so liked by the masses. So no ICS from Cyanogen until the source is released. I mean have people not ever noticed that there is no CM ROMs out for any Honeycomb tablet?????
Whoever picks this up I would like to be a beta tester.

Of course there is. Every Dev who has created a ICS will make a JB. Not sure this is worthy of a thread start. Next week things will start rolling in Kernels and Rom's. Just enjoy JB.
Nothing is coming until we have source. This thread only asks a question that even a little bit of logic would make unnecessary. I don't get why anyone would feel the need to ask it, I mean what's their reasoning? Is every kernel dev is sitting on their hands until someone asks if anyone's working on something?

Does not matter anymore. They are using the open source HAL. Mostly all the issues with the camera are gone. Only bust mode is outstanding.
The special functionality with the chip set will be missed though...

I guess I just don't understand why they would give us the source if we can't legitimately use it. Everyone who is rooted/unlocked did it without HTC's consent. Are we supposed to find bugs (without testing?) then submit them to HTC so they can place them in the latest update? Essentially doing the work of their developers?

My understanding is that by the time the previous kernel source was released, it was already outdated as roms were being built on 4.0.4 instead of 4.0.3. With this, we're up to date at least until 4.1 drops.
