[Privacy flaw] Tapatalk preserves private data with cloud account disabled & restore
EDITED
Workaround: to delete your private profiles from Tapatalk's servers, remove all your accounts from the Tapatalk application before uninstalling it, and make sure the setting Cloud Account is enabled and internet is working on your device, so it can updated on server's side.
-----------------
Today I experienced a disillusion with the application Tapatalk (premium), and the history is as follows:
I installed Tapatalk, cloud account comes enabled by default, so I registered some forums (included xda). Then I realized that obscure feature wasn't explained even in the official forums or how it operates, so I disabled the feature.
Then I deleted the application data + uninstalled application again to test, and my huge surprise the forums were restored even I had specified no cloud backup before uninstalling, so I feel like I've been fooled by such a professional app.
Then I realized even my username was preserved, so then I uninstalled again app+data and logged out of my google account in the phone. I installed again the tapatalk apk and the same happened. I though that was because of a special apk signed for my phone but, tested with an unofficial apk and the same happened.
So, what happens if I sell the phone to other person? Is Tapatalk automatically showing all forums I am registered to and show as well my username? How can this be possible after manually forcing the application not to store my private data on their cloud?

I think you'll find that account data for tapatalk is tied to your play store user details so if you sell a device just delete your play account off that device first otherwise they could also log into your play store and use apps you paid for or buy apps in your name.
The tapatalk app must have saved the data to cloud before you disabled the feature.

Where did you get that Tapatalk links its cloud to my google account and not other parameters? As I say in previous post, I removed my google account from the phone, and after deleting application data the forum and accounts where restored (no passwords this time).

If you deleted the google account how could you use the tapatalk app? If you pay for an app you can only use it on devices you are using the same account details (google email) so if you successfully deleted the account on your device it would not let you use any purchased apps you had bought with that account.
Are you saying you relogged into your device after deleting the account and then ran tapatalk or that there was no google account on it when running tapatalk?

Just because you uninstall an app doesn't mean its info is removed from your device. Once you reset your device and reinstall it from the market you will see the info is no longer there.

That's what I mean, no google account running when I installed the com.quoord.tapatalkpro.activity-1.apk and I had removed its app + data prior to installing it.
And yes, you can still be using premium apps after deleting google account from you phone. Try it to see.

Doesn't wipe data + Uninstall do the job? No idea what other data are you talking about. At least I see no added info to sdcard.

According to google as well as forum posts at xda you can only use apps bought on play store on a device with that google account active because all purchases are tied to that account.
You might be able to use backed up versions because they were purchased and their backed up licence data will be valid but you should not be able to purchase an app like tapatalk with an account then delete that account and use it on a phone with no account so I'm unsure how you did so.
If you restored or installed from backup then your licence data will also have been reinstalled and as personal app info such as your saved forums would be linked to the account you used to purchase the app it will know your account details and restore the associated cloud data.

When I reinstalled Tapatalk I didn't reinstall its license, neither installed the backup, just the apk installer that is the same for everyone.

There is no licence for it. Tapatalk is only a paid app. The info is stored on your /data partition. A full wipe of the phone will remove the info

I've tried and, after a /data wipe, Tapatalk retrieves my private accounts from their server, although I had clearly specified not to use Cloud Account.

Workaround: to delete your private profiles from Tapatalk's servers, remove all your accounts from the Tapatalk application before uninstalling it, and make sure the setting Cloud Account is enabled and internet is working on your device.

Removing an account

[Q] My wife and I have both our google accounts on her XOOM. Now that I have my own Fire, if I remove my account off her XOOM will she lose all the apps that were downloaded under my account?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA
Most likely, yes. The apps bought/downloaded into your account are linked to it.
That's what I was thinking. What about backing up the apps and data with Titanium Backup, remove my account, then restore apps and data?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA
You should beable to just remove the account. If that doesn't work, tb should do the trick (although it may be considered Warez at that point).
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I'm not certain, but the apps could stay there, but not be updatable via market.
I have apps not purchased via market, and all that I get when I try to manually update (need to find first, doesn't show up under 'my apps') is "not purchased".
I tested this out on my Fire by adding her account and then downloading a game. When I removed her account, the app and progress I made stayed but it did not show under my apps in the market. Guess we'll just have to manually search for the app if we want to see if there are any updates.

Migrating installed apps to different Google play account

Hello,
as the title suggests I'm after a way to have my new Google account on Play utilize installed.apps.info from an older account. Essentially I'm consolidating all of my Google accounts into one for use on my android machine, and unfortunately I've been installing apps via an account that will be merged and deactivated.
I tried using titanium backup to backup/restore all apps and system data after switching to my sole primary account, and confirming the reinstallation of all apps, but Google Play still shows a blank list of installed apps.
Is this possible at all?
Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Not possible
Does Play cache the downloaded packages somewhere so that I may recycle those from the old account for use with the new by recreating the cache path for use with the new?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Everything is stored by the Google acct. Once u sign in to another Google acct u can still use the apps don't u won't be able to download the paid apps again unless u on the old acct u purchased it from.
Okay. Thanks any way.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
one way is to get the Google Play apk and put this in the SD card, then, installed it into your Android Device.
I am also in the hunt for more Android apk too. If you know where to find these apk, please share with us?

Shareboard
Multiple social network posting
Tired of opening different apps to speak your mind across the multitude of social networks you use? For such situations, a handy and compact app to share contents to multiple social networks from under one screen.
You can post status updates to Twitter, Facebook and Google+ (not fully supported : see 3rd post) simultaneously, optionally along with or without a picture. You can toggle which networks you want to post from within a simple minimalist UI.
No useless running in background.
[*]No "Google analytics mumbo jumbo" data collection.
[*]No privacy infringing usage statistics collection.
[*]No online caching/buffering of posts.
Currently Twitter and Facebook is supported and application is under active development.
Indirect Google + is added since v1.5.0 (hacky workaround against API restrictions from google)
Permissions and Privacy
The app only uses Network access permissions to connect and post to requested social networks.
External storage read permission has been added so that selecting pictures from memory card doesn't crash the app.
There is no advertisement in app.
Nothing is posted to user profiles without the user content (Basically the only function of the app is to post only when user wants it to), so you can be assured of your privacy.
Unlike other apps, there's no middle server that'd reroute your posts to multiple networks. All updates are direct from your mobile to official API.

Video review from XDA TV

Changelog
v1.5.0
• Added Google Plus sharing
v1.4.7
• Compiled with latest sdk and support library. Gingerbread users should get the full Holo ui now.
• Improved Twitter login process.
v1.4.6
• New login , web based, to solve fb login problems.
• Fixed the share intent.
v1.4.0
• Enabled the share intent. Now you can share pics/text from android share via menu.
• Fixed crash on some devices while selecting picture.
• Fixed Twitter log in bugs.
• Enabled SSL(https) enforcing to comply with Twitter API changes.
Google Plus support is added as an experimental feature since version 1.5.0.
Due to restrictions from Google, the Google + API is read only and could not be used to post content to individual timelines.
There is an API available, but that is only for posting to G+ pages (and not profiles) and it could be used only by substantially big companies (like Buffer) under permission from google.
Therefore, the sharing mechanism in Shareboard is implemented to pull up the Google+ app's sharing dialog with the contents already filled in, so you have to click the share button on g+ once more to get the job done.
Also the G+ sharing dialog will pop up as a separate task, so that you can keep it minimized and come back to shareboard while it's uploading/posting.
This is as streamlined I could make the process. After this method, I've been feeling easy to share more frequently. I hope this would similarly make G+ posting a little more easy for lot of people like me.
Please feel free to give feedback and more constructive ideas and suggestions if any.

It shouldn't be having any dependency on official fb apps. I'll look into the matter and update soon.
Update : first time you post, it'd ask for permission instead of sharing the post. Once you grant permission, press the SEND button again.

You may try one thing, completely remove fb and messngr official apps and try this login.
I'm unable to reproduce the problem. Probably something related to user's fb account
I've tried this on my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, both have the exact same result.
I'm able to log into Twitter just fine, I can post messages to Twitter just fine as well.
When I attempt to login to Facebook I get a popup telling me that "ShareBoard would like to access your public profile and friend list", I click OK....nothing happens. I do not get the login script I would expect to see. I try to post a message and choose Facebook and I get a toast telling me that I need to login to Facebook first.
I do not have the fb messenger app installed, nor am I going to install it.

thanks i tried this and it worked, logged into fbook, authorised the app and posted.
On a side note - when posting I set privacy to "only me". I saw the post no problems. But there is no way to change privacy for future posts afterwards without logging out and log back in to fbook within shareboard. Or just update it on the website.
Anyway I reinstall fbook app and it still posted ok. When I logged out of fbook on shareboard and tried to log in again it wouldn't work (this is with the fbook app reinstalled).
On a different matter I got a fail from Twitter this time. See attached screen.
Anything else I can try to help?
Edit : actually I can't change privacy at all even with logging in/out of fbook. Think I will have to remove authorisation manually on the fbook website and then re-add it thru shareboard.

Add Google Contacts & Contacts Sync; Get a neat surprise [JAN 2019]

***UPDATE January 12, 2019***
Please note: This trick does NOT appear to work on the HD 8, 8th generation, FireOS 6.X.X.X. You likely have to be on FireOS 5.6.X.X or lower. Please leave comments of your FireOS version and whether this works or not.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This neat little trick deserves it's own thread. While you have to uninstall two Amazon system apps, you actually gain the use of other built in FireOS features as a result. If you still have all three Amazon Contacts apps enabled on your tablet, you're able to use this little customization. If not, you'll have to factory reset, as I'm not sure Google Contacts will work properly. You must also have Google Play, Google Account Services, Google Framework and Google Play services installed. You have to install the Google App as well. Please install Activity Launcher as well.
There is very low risk of doing any damage whatsoever to your device, but I feel obligated to say: I can't be responsible if you don't have the same results. So if something does go bad, the worst possible case is a factory reset.
1) Download and install Google Contacts 1.1. You can now export your contacts from a Android device. Just copy them to any storage as a vCard, .vcf etc. Then copy that to the storage of the device you want the contacts list. You can also port it over to your target device's storage using Google drive or Bluetooth.
2) Open Google Contacts and import the file from the storage directory you saved it in. You now have all your contacts. Now download and install Google Contacts Sync 5.1.1-1965118. Go back to Google Contacts. They should be syncing and you should now have more options available to you in Contacts settings. Surprisingly Contacts Sync also assists in syncing portions of your Google account as well as I show below.
3) In contacts, you should see an option to set your profile up. Tap it and Upload a picture and add some information. Tap the arrow in the top left when done, it will save automatically.
SURPRISES
4) Open Activity Launcher and tap the top left, all activities. Scroll down to Settings and tap it. Scroll to Users and tap it. You should see a screen similar to the one below; a 'profile' with the picture you saved in Contacts
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5) Tap on the profile and give yourself a nickname and tap save. Making sure everything is saved, tap the recent apps button (square) and swipe it all out. Now press the power button so it locks your device. You just want to activate your lock-screen. Press it again to turn it back on and look in the top right of your lock screen. Tap on it.
6) Unlock your tablet. Swipe down the status bar all the way. Look at the top right corner. Tap on it a few times.
It was really fun to have found this. I'm glad I finally found a trick that didn't involve nuking more of Amazons apps or functions. Note that both of their contacts apps are 100% android based, so technically were not nuking anything that is directly related to FireOS.
What's even better? It ALL holds after rebooting :highfive: I don't think the 'profile' does much of anything except look cool and expands a little to show your nickname. If you do find other functions for it, please let us know Though I think the way my device is setup currently, this is just a little bit of fun customization.
P.S. If anyone has a problem with the shirtless picture, I'll upload new ones. :good:
EDIT: You can manually uninstall Amazon Contact app and the Amazon Contact Sync app. **DO NOT UNINSTALL AMAZON'S CONTACT STORAGE APP.** Doing so will result in your contacts not working at all. So far I've yet to find a fix, but it's really not necessary.
If a more automated version suits you and check out the Amazon Fire Utility and see if it's right for you
***UPDATE September 1, 2017:*** Google has released their contacts app to be compatible with all Android devices running 5.X and above. You can go to the Play Store and update the app here. You MUST KEEP the contact sync app if you already have it. The little bit of customization as a result of adding contacts, remains the same I believe. Just tap 3 bars at top left > settings > tap your name > set yourself up. I just flashed Fire Nexus to my Fire 7 and the process was still applied. I am not sure why it just doesn't add your picture already associated with your Google Account (if you already have one selected).
If most of your contacts have been duplicated after updating contacts app, go to your google Contacts page on the web and look at the menu on the left. If there isn't one, tap the 3 bars at top left and select duplicates. That will bring up all your duplicate contact names. Then select 'merge all' which will merge them together including the info.
You can no longer uninstall Amazon apps if you are on FireOS 5.4.0.1 or greater.

as far as I know, Google didn't make a 'contact storage app' for 5.1. I see some for 5.0 and I am not sure if they will work on here, but here is a list of APKs. Please note I am not sure if these APKs are official or not. Use at your own risk.

Pretty much. It's just customization. Nothing fancy. You would also be surprised how hard it was to get the right mix of Contacts APKs.

I just installed Google Contacts and when running it, it would complain that Google Accounts is not installed, despite it is due to it being one of the four apk's for getting google play working. So would installing Google Contacts Sync allow Google Contacts to download the contacts stored in a google account? If yes, then what is the point of exporting/importing your contacts via a file?

Try installing the Google app. Usually that helps. And yes you need Google contacts sync referenced in the first post. Sync and the Google app also help with some account sync issues.
EDIT: also install YouTube. You need it in order to keep the 4 Google APKs up-to-date.
Is anyone able to help a little? I'm trying to get Handouts working on my 3 daughters Amazon fires. Their contacts from google aren't importing/syncing, so I thought the obvious thing to do would be to install Google Contacts. However when I try this I can't sign in. I get a message saying that there's "no app installed to handle this."
All 3 fires have had Nova Launcher installed, Google Play Services, Google Account Manager etc installed. Hangout physically works fine, but it's the syncing with contacts that's the problem.

In the first thread, make sure Google contacts sync is installed. Use the link I provided. Also make sure 'contacts storage' is installed. If not, you'll have to find the right APK and install that as well.
Still working 9/26/2018
I just needed to install the following things on my Kindle Fire 7 (5th Gen) Fire OS 5.6.2.0
I had these apps installed previously and the Google Contacts app was not working. It didn't allow me to sync my account.
Google Play
Google Framework
Google Play services
I did have to install them to make Google Contacts app to work (I don't know if all of them are needed, but since I was following the instructions step by step I did install all of services and apps recommended):
Google Account Services
Google App
Activity Launcher
Google Contacts Sync 5.1.1
Instead of installing the Contact apk file provided, I did install the new Google Contacts from the Google Play Store.
After having all that installed. I didn't need to do anything else. I just did open the Google Contacts app and could switch between my google accounts and my contacts were there.
Thanks !!!!
none of this works on fire HD8 8th gen
contacts tries to open but then force closes
and it will not update from the play store either

no i did not, was i supposed to?
i thought you said to not remove it , so i left it alone
i did see that my contacts are now showing up in the duo app though
but i still can not make or receive any calls ,they all says invite and i use gmail to send the link but it does work
if i video call myself with duo it rings on my phone not on my tablet , duo app on the tablet says my number and sign out so it is logged in
the old contacts app force closes when trying to open , neither duo nor contacts will update from the play store

Yes. You need to disable the Amazon contacts app or hide it. You also need the sync adapter too. If you can disable Amazon sync adapter, do that too. Did you download the contact apps in the op? You need the sync adapter and it needs to be installed prior to installing contacts.

yes i followed the OP directions but it said to install the contacts .apk 1st and then to restore the contacts file and then to install the sync .apk , so should i delete them both and then start over but disable amazon contacts and amazon sync apps 1st or can i just disable amazon contacts and sync and then install the google sync apk and then the contacts apk from the OP? in the OP it said to install the contacts 1.1 apk 1st then if you want to to restore a backup of your contacts and then to install the google sync .apk
also how do i disable or hide the amazon sync and contact app?
can i do it on the tablet or do i need to connect through ADB and use command like PM hide?
what would the ADB commands be ?
also what do you mean by this
"While you have to uninstall two Amazon system apps, you actually gain the use of other built in FireOS features as a result. If you still have all three Amazon Contacts apps enabled on your tablet, you're able to use this little customization"
what are the 3 contact apps i need to check to see if i have 1st? i assume amazon contacts, amazon sync and something else?
EDIT: in setting >apps> manage all apps
i see amazon contact app i do not see google contacts app
also i am above 5.4.0.1 , i am on 6.x.x.x fire HD 8 8th gen
i noticed that it says uninstall does not work above 5.4.0.1 , but what about PM hide ,does that still work?
what are the 2 commands i need to hide the amazon contacts and amazon contacts sync>?

Update apps when you delete a google account

Hi
I have a question with Google Play accounts.
I have a phone with three Google accounts. In this phone all applications have been installed with a Google account that I now want to delete.
If I delete the account with which I installed the applications (in the phone there are still two accounts) the applications are still updated normally?
Especially the applications that I bought with the account I want to delete.
Thanks and best regards
P.D .: Sorry for my bad English.

If you want to be able to update the apps via Google PlayStore, you still need to be signed into the device with a Google account, you can't use PlayStore without an account.
If you want to update the apps without using a Google account, you can update the apps by manually downloading the updated apps from somewhere other than Google PlayStore and then manually install them on the device.

Yes, in the device there are still two google accounts.
But the applications that I have paid with the account I want to delete are still being updated?

Once you delete the account you delete all record that you bought the app and will most likely fail the Google server check as it won't be able to match the email account used to get the app.
You are stuck with the email.
