Hi guys,
I am having a problem with my phone, i've researched everywhere but it seems that no one is experiencing the issue as me, or at least I couldnt find anybody.
The thing is that one day after syncing my phone, when I unmounted the sd card(in the correct way) and I inserted it in the phone, the phone started to freeze everytime I locked it, once I locked the phone it became unresponsie, everytime. I can turn on the display but it doesnt respond to touch, the digital buttons either. However, if I get a notification it does show up in the display, so the phone its not dead.
This behavior happens with every card I have, ive tried with 3 different cards and everytime I sync them to my mac my phone responds this way.
I did a factory reset, I wiped everything and installed different roms but the issue remains. I also formatted the cards several times.
For the phone to work correctly it has to be card-free or with a sd card that has never synced with my computer.
I uploaded a video to make the problem more understandable, Im really desperate so any help will be greatly appreciated,
thank you!!
Edit; Sorry, I dont know why the youtube thumbnail doesnt show up here,

If the issue only happen AFTER you sync it to your PC that would make me think to look at what files you are syncing and how you are doing it. What are you loading on to your sd card? What class is your SD card as I have seen cards with a class less then 4 can cause issues.
Yes I thought of that, im just syncing music, and its the exact playlist i've been syncing before with this phone. I did a virus scan and nothing. Maybe a file suddenly became corrupted, but there is no warning about that..
I've tried with class 6, class 4 and class 2, all with the same problems..
I forgot to clarify that yesterday I synced the same files and for a while everything worked perfectly, I was able to play my music, etc. But all of a sudden I opened the camera app and the phone freezed, It did this everytime until I removed the card...
I appreciate your help, thanks

Sounds like maybe the virus scan is not detecting it. Are you syncing it while the card is in the phone? I would try that with blocks of music until the problem pops up and then you can slim it down from there
zelendel, thanks for your help, I did try those things and the problem remains.
However after trying different things I discovered that the files are not the problem because I synced all my music wirelessly and everything worked perfectly. Until I connected my phone to my mac without syncing and unmounted the sd-card.
My guess is that there is a problem with the mount-unmount mechanism, it may be a hardware issue I dont know. Its weird, because once I unmount, the sd-card prepares and the phone identifies it, but after that I cant open any music application, camera, etc and once I lock and try to unlock the phone, it freezes as I stated before.. Im lost
What do you think? any ideas?
thanks again!
Same Thing here in Xperia mini St15i Please Helpppppp?!
bump. come on, no one? i cant run aosp roms because of this.

Sorry, something that is confusing....if you are unmounting your sdcard then that is why that you cannot open files..it is unmounted. What happens when u pull your sdcard out? unmount it from settings>storage and see how the phone behaves....if works smoothly then it might be a slot issue....
If your phone rooted?
Its stock rom? Hace u ever do something to ir? Probably its hardware problem.

Hello fellas
Same problem experienced here on two different Huwawei android phones -> sonic and ideos..gingerbread and froyo respectively.
Everytime the phones do sdcard I/O opps, all UI elements become unresponsive but bg tasks run coz they ring during incoming calls and texts.
The sdcard is the same...a 4gb kingston.
I know the sdcard works well because i've tested it more than once using H2testw 1.4 ....no flaws reported at all!
The card also works flawlessly on my nokia E63.
Does anyone have a fix for this?
sd card error ... guess so.
Hey there am too experiencing the same prob . When i insert the sd card class 2 the phone freezes , and becomes unresponsive until i remove the card ... Since dis post is about 2 yr old so guess there might b some solution to dis prob ... .... thankzz in advance
I am using Mango (7.10.8107.79) on my Samsung Focus v1.3.
I have installed gMaps (free v 1.24.0.0) and Endomondo Sports Tracker (free v 6.1.0.0) which use GPS. Whenever I have data connection and location enabled and use any of the two applications, phone restarts everytime. I have started observing this behavior after updating both the apps just 2-3 days ago. Earlier this was not observed.
Has anybody observed the same? What can be done to determine what is causing this?
Can anybody please help me? I am now experiencing random restarts. Once Phone restarted when I had kept it charging by connecting to my laptop, other time it restarted when I was browsing music in Zune.
Can this be due to faulty SD Card? I have waited to see any reply before doing a reset.
Yes it can be caused by SD cards... And yes I'd go for a hardreset.
Are you on stock roms or on a custom rom?
the main reason i left this platform random reboots.Soon it will be from pictures and everywhere wait and see!:crying:
I would suspect a faulty or too slow SD -card. Too slow SD card caused random resets on my HTC 7 Pro. Check the card, also hardreset and trying a different rom could be a route I would try.
Thanks all for your replies. I am on stock ROM. I will hard reset the phone after removing SD Card to see what happens.
Hi all,
I'm new and unsure whether this is the right place (I couldn't post on the i9100g develpment section). Apologies if it is not.
I've been living with a very annoying bug I reported over nine months ago on the CyanogenMod forum.
40 seconds or so into a song, the phone freezes, whether the music file is on internal memory or external SD card. Sometimes but less frequently, it also freezes after receiving a phone call or a text message. I tried wiping data & cache partition, flashing new kernel, without the SD card, without headphones, without sound.*I now run the 10.0*stable release.
Once it's frozen, the only option is to shut-off the phone manually (sometimes only taking off the battery will do) and reboot. As you can imagine, this is very tiresome. Nobody has been abmle to help thus far...
I saved the logs of a session before the phone crashed, and I was wondering if anybody would be able to read them and spot the bug. FYI, this log is with the phone playing music with Appolo. At the end of it, the phone blocked:

Thanks for your help...

I have a stock Nexus 5 running OS 6.0.1. Yesterday I decided to use DS Cloud to backup my documents to my Synology Disk Station (NAS). For simplicity I just told it to sync the entire internal storage folder. This appears to have been a BAD mistake.
Everything looked like it was going well I saw the files from my phone appearing in the backup folder on my NAS. IT was almost done when suddenly my Blue tooth music stopped streaming. I looked and Google Play Music says there are no files on my device. Browsing from a USB connection all of the files are in my Music folder, the app just can't seem to find them.
I uninstalled DS Cloud, rebooted the phone, etc. but it's still broke. Basically all of the files appear to be intact but Google Play Music, and Photos can not find anything. I used VLC to browse and play the files so they really are there and undamaged.
I suspect that some "virtual" folders or symbolic links may have been corrupted. The reason I think this is because when I open VLC it shows 4 paths "Internal Memory", "Emulated", "Emulated", "Emulated". I seem to recall that since the N5 does not actually have a SD card slot, it had a fake SD Card folder, and I do seem to remember vaguely there were some emulated or legacy folders, I assume for backwards compatibility with older apps.
In any event I don't remember exactly what those "special" folders were or how to recreate them.
I suspect that if I can recreate them then Music and Picture will start working again.
If I do a factory reset on the phone will that recreate the proper folders and links?
Any ideas?
More research/info.
OK doing more research, now I am fairly certain that the issue is the missing folders. Apparently there's a symbolic link to /data/user/0/com.google.android.music/files/music that is needed for Play Music. Using adb shell I can see that there is a sdcard folder and it is linked to /storage/self/primary.
I think I am on the right track but can anyone tell me what links/folders I need to create? Can I even create them without root? Is there a utility that will fix it? Will a factory reset/wipe fix it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Don't know how to recreate the missing folders, but I'm fairly sure a complete factory reset will fix this. Unfortunately, you will lose your data if you go this route.
RESOLVED - The Hard Way
Last night I tried Settings > Backup & Restore > Factory Reset. It said it was doing it for several minutes. I read that it could take a long time, so I left it in the office and watched a TV show. Came back an ouur later and it was rebooted but 100% intact??? Even though it said "Erasing..." for at least 30 minutes, nothing was gone.
I used the phone all day and except for the original problem it worked fine.
Tonight I tried again. Same process. This time after the wipe it came up like a new phone. Strange.
Anyhow it looks like everything is working. Copied a few songs and pictures and they worked.
I am in the process of restoring everything else which is probably going to take some time...
I am using a Poco X3 Pro with Arrow OS (based on Android 11) installed and rooted.
I have a high capcity microSD card installed (legit and fully functional), and selected my Spotify downloads to be on the microSD card.
The issue is that every time the phone restarts, Spotify revert the download location back to the internal storage. I can go into the option and select the external storage again, but all the files that were previously downloaded would be gone.
This is particularly frustrating as right now I do not have access to a reliable Wi-Fi (I have access to an unreliable Wi-Fi that is throttled down to something like 20-50KB/sec) so it takes forever to re-download. And.. even if I had a fast connection, it would still be quite frustrating.
1. Has anyone encountered / solved this issue before? If so, could you please share the solution?
2. I have done a bit of Googling on this issue, and it seems to be pretty common. One suggestion I have seen is to stop Spotify from automatically starting on boot. Some people have suggested the the issue is caused by Spotify loading before the external storage, and revert to internal storage as a result. However, I haven't figure out an easy way to do that. Is there any apps I can install to manage (i.e. stop) apps from auto-starting? I am kind of hoping for a pretty easy solution, or if necessary a pretty detailed how-to.
Thanks a lot.
I am facing this issue since very recently too. I use a Redmi Note 10 pro running Project Elixir rom (based on Android 13) and rooted. Tried changing roms and tried the fixes suggested previously, which was to delay the startup of spotify app after the device boots and to disable boot receivers through adb shell. None of them have worked so far. The downloaded music keeps moving back to internal storage from sd card after every reboot no matter what I do. Hopefully there's a fix for this soon.
