Everytime I try for Nandroid backup, get an error
e: failed to verify whole-file signature
e: singnature verification failed
Any help to overcome this is welcomed
if im not mistaken your not yet rooted right? root first using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351056 download the bagaria.tar flash it via ODIN in PDA. then try going to recovery again.
Its already rooted using oneclickroot. I even verified my root through rootcheck
By using oneclickroot, you have rooted the phone, but have the stock recovery. U need to use Clockwork mod recovery to install roms and backup.
Go HERE and download the Cf-root (Attached to first post) and flash it via Odin (Select as PDA). After this, you should be able to use Clockwork mod recovery and backup/restore and install custom roms.

Hi,
I'm have trouble installing Cyanogen on my Galaxy S, i keep getting
-E: failed to verify whole-file signature
Ok so this is what i did.
1. i rooted my phone with z4root.apk
2. i downloaded rom manager off the market and installed the recovery mode
3.i put update.zip on the sd (the cyanogen rom zip)
4. cleared cach/factory reset
5. install from zip..... then
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
Im using clockwork mod v5.0.0.6
clockwork recovery v2.5.1.2
Phone details:
model: gt-i9000
firmware 2.2
baseband i9000dtjp3

Hi Here I have a BIG problem with understanding whats going on. This is forth week how i'm trying to push update for GB 2.3.1.
a little story:
I had ICS based MIUI rom installed for around 1.5 year and was extremely happy with its UI and performance and regular weekly updates - since it become more and more lagy after every update. my phone was to week for its software and I decided go back stock.
My phones current details

baseband : I9020XXKB3 (under battery GT-I9020T)
kernel : 2.6.35.7-g7f1638a
[email protected]#1
build number : GRH78
So what I done next i downloaded Odin and flashed stock gb 2.3.1 and now i can not update it in any way. System tryes to push OTA 4.0.1 but it ends up with following

It's normal you can't flash OTA because you have a custom recovery. You need stock recovery for that. You can download a factory image from Google, extract it and flash the recovery inside using fastboot.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#soju
ALSO, stop using Odin. There's no need to use Odin or nearly on Nexus S. This thing is nearly unbreakable and you have more chances of breaking stuff with Odin than anything else.
thanx for quick replay
flashed factory GB 2.3.6 straight away using sdk tools
now will root it and install custom clockwork recovery to prevent from automatic OTA updating to lagy ICS
Use FOTAKill instead,

Thanx for good advice. Installed it allready.

Flash the stock firmware via ODIN
To root your device:
Flash PhilZ CWM (custom recovery) via ODIN
Flash SuperSU via PhilZ CWM
flash stock firmware via ODIN,
and also cmw file ie a tar file via ODIN.
use unlockroot.com and download the software to root or a cwm flashable superuser zip file.

Hi Experts,
I have some experience on flashing phones and custom roms but in this case i'm lost.
Can't find a way to install CWM or TWRP, i have tried flashing with Odin and also tried to install via the CWM/TWRP app.
After flashing recovery with CWM/TWRP app the phone becomes bricked and i get a Verizon message "secure fail: kernel system software is not authorized by verizon..."
If i try to flash recovery with Odin in download mode it will result in an error: FAIL! (Auth)
And from the stock recovery i cant flash as well which make sense.
* Phone is 4.2.2
* Root was made with towelroot.apk > manual install of SU and confirmed with root checker (Other root methods did not worked for me).
Please help!

Simple, your bootloader is locked. 4.4.2 can be rooted but that's it. You can run a safestrap recovery & flash TW ROMs only.
?Oct-M d2att KrAkEn Kernel?
I had used safestrap, Cant flash... because it said cant mount system...
