Is your phone brand new, or was it purchased second hand? It could help others in assisting you.
+1 to miz_pimp's post above.
If it's new & working fine, you need not worry about anything.
Read the Guides, make yourself familiar with the forum & with your device... before even thinking of Hboot, Root , S-OFF , Radio, Custom ROM's & stuff
The INDEX has everything you need. . .

i wonder if i should try to get back S-ON (though i AM afraid of bricking my device)
and send my phone to htc for waranty purpose (it has a minor charging problem, when i plug in the cable, i have to make sure its at a right angle for it to charge, like its a bit loose)
my questions are:
1. HBOOT - how can i know which is "root-able" (s-off/on-switchable)
i heard/read that newer hboot are not "unlockable" at the moment? which one is the lastest hboot, and what is the lastet-rootable one?
2. i didnt write my CID down when i changedit to superCID the day i rooted my phone. i only know i had a germany vodafone soft-branded phone. is there a way to find out what CID i had at the beginning?
3. how can i put my device back to the state before i rooted my phone, by that i mean, i want to be able to get official OTA updates. or will this involve the "how to get back s-on guide" which is a bit risky as i have read that guide a couple of times.
i hope some1 can give me some answer or hint on how to find these things out. i just need to be directed to the right direction, and ill be thankfull and happy to continue my search on my own.
another question
4. what happens when i run the RUU (i have RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_208857_signed)
will this be a problem as i'm currently on hboot 1.23.0000? will it unroot my phone?
nevermind, im gonna try mikes ARHD and just updated my FW with Firmware from 3.24.401.1 & 3.25.401.101 RUU --- MD5 checksum: 4774D8928FB9D364F83CDDE16BAC4553 *PG58IMG.zip
so now i have
-Revolutionary-
S-OFF
HBOOT 1.27.1100
Radio 11.21.3504.13_2
i guess ill just put this thing on ebay and leave it at that.
i will still apreciate any help or explanations to my questions thou.. =)

If you flash an official ruu you will lose root. But you will remain soff. So you can install any custom ROM. Your root will depend on the rom only. as far as fast boot concern it may be locked during official ruu flashing. So will not be able to use some extended fast boot command like flashing radio from PC. But revolutionary hboot is unlocked. So no issue.

Hi all,
I have bought a HTC Desire S on Ebay and it came with ICS 4.03 and Sense 4.0A called Fallout Evolution V4.3.0.
I was under the impression this was an official release from HTC but after checking I discover it wasn't. The seller does know how to restore the phone but I got it for a great price so don't want to get a refund.
I'm not interested in putting custom stuff on my phone so would like to restore it to HTC official software. A friend told me to come on here and ask and to give the boot loader information..
Mine says:
***UNLOCKED***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT- 2.00.0002
RADIO- 3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
Aug 22 2011, 15:22:13
If I click Recovery I get the HTC logo then a screen with "4EXT Recovery v2.2.7 RC5"
Can someone please help me restore my phone as I have found the original Android I need:
"RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_219480_signed.rar"
But don't want to run the file untill I've done whats needed to prevent my phone for becoming a brick.
Thanks
Please read the front page and look for a thread with title that matches what you want to do. Read it, and read the other thread on or near the front page it's pointing to. You can also read the sticky guide it's pointing to, referenced in sticky INDEX thread.
And after you find the answer to your question in such close proximity, please consider searching before posting next time.
Ypu can use my method. Check my sig on downgrading. Download the RUU that is best for your phone. You should ask from the seller if the phone is branded or not. Everything you need is in the forum. Just use search.

Skanob do I follow all you guide or just the final bit Locking the bootloader & Downgrading? or do I start at Modifying the version of your phone?
The only reason I ask is my friends unrooted phone says
***LOCKED***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT- 2.00.0002
and mine says UNLOCKED. Also your guide says goto htcdev.com/bootloader and when I do it says Unlocking your bootloader which I assume has been done already?
Or is there a way to install the HTC RUU on my so it runs like a custom ROM? all I want it the official HTC software I've no warranty issues to worry about?
Sorry for what may seen as stupid questions but I'm not very technical and never messed with phones before, just trying to sort it.
Yours is already unlocked and with custom recovery and rom. Im pretty sure the rom is already rooted. You just need to find out if your mmc is a goldcard. Then download the correct ruu. Start from changing misc verson.

Skanob all I can say is a huge THANK YOU
I followed what you posted and worked perfectly, once again thank you for everything :victory:
I am nieuw and acording to the video i am a noob.
So i try to be brief and clear.
The problem is some of my letters on my touchscreen are not working.
when i turn the phone (landscape) other letters won't work. ( a other firmware will help???)
I hate vodafone so i want that off my phone and i want to do more with it than
the firmware accepts.
I bought the phone second hand so i can experiment with it and do'nt messup my one HTC Wildfire s
I have read a lot of forum also here on xda.
But i don't understand it.
The one says you first have to downgrade wit a branded rom
The other says first unbrand and then upgrade/downgrade/change
Other say's other things.
What must i do and where can i find the right roms and software to do it.
I have a Desire s (vodafone logo)

if you are considering flash another rom and get rid of vodafone firmware. this thread might help

First of all, get your phone checked out - the keyboard issue sounds like your touchscreen is failing (hardware problem). You'll want to get that fixed BEFORE you unlock or flash custom roms as that will void your warranty.
After that, you can flash a custom ROM, or use the ICS RUU (NOT recommended!) to debrand your phone. Note that this will involve either unlocking your bootloader (which voids your warranty) or going S-OFF (which is a difficult procedure).
I have just replaces the screen for a friend and thought I would root and flash a new ROM on this HTC One S (4) just as I have done on my many other droid devices... Not thinking to back a thing up... I un-locked and rooted it, flashedd the TWRP recovery. Tried installing LIBERTY ROM, .. Black screen.. read I needed s-off as well as SuperCID... Aww I am so confused!
Now I would just simply love to revert it back to a stock OS, but cant even get that going in the right direction... I have been up for over a day working on this and about to rip my hair out! Will anyone please help a fella out here?
Its a T-mobile TMOB101

and some other.. all keep failing....
PLEASE HELP ME I am desperate!

Can anyone help? My HTC One S is stuck, I can get to the HTC logo screen then the screen goes off, I have to hold down power to turn it off
I can get in to fastboot and TWRP recovery
If I flash ANY ROMs it does the same
phone is rooted
Can anyone advise what I can do to get any kind of ROM on there and get the phone working? (it was O2 UK)
Found some similar things online, all stating run RUU, I cannot find one for O2 UK (all links are dead), seen other threads saying things like don't superCID, this means nothing to me, can anyone help and give valid links to anything I need?
many thanks

can anyone help with this please?
Yes can help. START READING BEFORE FLASHING NEXT TIME
You are S-On, you MUST FLASH KERNEL IN FASTBOOT after you flash the ROM. It is written dozen of times. You don't know how to do that? Search in dev section there are several threads in which is discussed.
Tip? Search for my posts, I think I've described how to do it more than 10 times
