Battery life - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Ok so I have a question? Can someone explain to me how they are getting great battery life...

Today was my best day yet. I updated to 1.85 via RUU and then flashed CleanRom 2.5.5 yesterday. Today I was on it literally all damn day and had over 3 hrs screen on time with 8hrs off the charger before I hit 60% battery. That was with a ton of web browsing, FB, xda app. Made some calls and used skype for a while too. I'm sure I could have hit 5 hrs easy if not more on the charge but I plugged it in when I got in my car. I thought I had good battery life before but that blew my mind.

Nothing special. Brightness at 33%, autosync is on, hotmail set for every 15 minutes... Not using twitter or any other funky accounts. I used autostarts to prevent a bunch of crap from running on its own but that's about it. I wasn't even trying to get that battery life, it just happened. Was using the phone pretty much business as usual.

I'm just over an hour on ny phone and cleanrom as well. 61% drained by screen and 37% battery left. 1.15 hours screen time. 17 hrs total time on.

After flashing roms you would have to.wait a few cycles for battery to perform at max potential.

Here are settings on my phone. And, I am down to 87% with 55 min screen usage (surfing xda) and 2 hour idle.
I don't use any 3rd party taskers/battery savers etc. Also, I don't download an app that is just a mobile website. I noticed that some apps are badly coded and consume more battery than their mobile site. Browser is optimized well. Also, default browser is better to juice than Chrome Beta.
Brightness % toggle is set for 10 25 50 100. I mostly use 10 25 and 50.
I keep data off when at home or work - 90% of the day.
I use fm radio app rather than streaming radio app - tune in when I can. Saves a tonne of battery.
Rooted on 1.73, debloated.

Battery life

I'm currently on cm7 and I love the rom. But I seem to get better battery life with the stock rom. Can anyone walk me through on how to optimize the battery life on cm7?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
first thing first, uninstall any social networking app, because they sync constantly and will run your battery down, if you have live wallpaper enabled, turn it off, keep gps off, and wifi if not in use, turn 4g off if your not actively using it , remove all unnecessary widgets , download an app called setcpu and create some profiles, if not of that works, try a different kernel
I'm on a stock rooted 2.3.5 using Netarchy Kernel. I undervolted using SetCPU and have only one profile. When the screen is off it downclocks to 200mhz. I do have my gps always on. The only thing I sync though is my GMAIL and weather every 4 hours. At the end of the day my phone says it has been unplugged for 17 hours with around 30 percent of the battery remaining.
I just carry a second battery. I want to be able to use the hell out of my phone and still have battery left over, so I just have two. I can have everything sync, brightness up, use GPS, etc

i am a complete ant total noob to this community however, i ran shabbypenguins battery mod/tweak for the NS4G and it seems to be giving me more life out of my battery. from what i understand this started as a single mod and has grown over time to a collection of scripts that are meant to improve battery with a long list of features that work in the background. you need a custom kernel like net's but it's really easy to run. it is in the NS4G development thread.

yeah it does it by applying cpu profiles that slow down the processor depending on the battery level. I'd rather have shorter battery life and more performance, so I just have a second battery. It's an OEM model that I got off eBay for about $10.

What kind of battery life do you get? Could you share your settings, if you're on wifi, etc?
Some of these ROMs are awesome on battery life. I got great battery life with Open Soju. I then switched to kushdeck with the matrix kernel and the battery life was stupendous. The last day I used it my phone was on battery for 18 hours and I still had 49% left with moderate usage. Now I'm running stock 2.3.5 with the matrix kernal and my battery sucks again.

One Thing Android Sucks At...

even with ICS, is determining how much battery life is left.
I could keep a better tab on my battery life with my watch. It's the worst when it's full and it's empty. It'll be at 100% for 2 hours and 20 minutes later it's at 89%. At the end, when you are at 10%, it's over, you might have 5 mins lefts or 60...who the hell knows.
Very true. I was at 15% for about 20 min but went from 100% to 30% in an hour

I keep my phone very barebones. I use two widgets and I have 20 apps.
When I'm down to 10%, I can have everything off and it will still drop down to below 5% within the half hour.
I've come to the conclusion that Android just sucks at this to ignore the percentages and to keep it as charged up as possible.
On my HTC wildfire with like 5 widget and over 150 apps installed it easily crossed one and half days....

I used to have this issue with Android with past phones like the Epic 4G and the Nexus S 4G. I could be at 70% and reboot the phone and all of a sudden it's now at 52%. I could reboot phone 5 times and get 5 different values. It was all so tiring.
Now i've since moved on to the Epic Touch running Blazer ROM and since i've been on this combo, i've not noticed this phenomenon anymore. The battery guage is spot on. I could reboot a billion times and the accuracy doesn't deviate one bit. Could it be that the dev of this ROM has some super mojo/juju that just works? (I hope so).
Alpha Review ROM is not completed, all guys using review HTC Rom have same problems. Keep remembering that it is still a review ROM

Stock battery moderate use, check email, played some games, browsed web xda, texted etc. I just recall in the past my battery would die on 4g super quick after a few hours even when barely using it. So its a fantastic improvement.

That is certainly better than what I can report running Thundershed 1.2. For me, it is down to 40 - 50% in 24 hours (I charge it once per day) , mostly on 3G and on Rezound battery with moderate use. What about anyone running sense roms?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
I've seen similar results to the OP on the stock rom. I have the Rezound battery as well, but after the last couple official updates, battery life seemed much improved, even with the stock battery. I forgot to post screenshots, but at one point I was at over 24 hours w/o charging and like 45% battery life left (with minimal usage and constant 4G).

Wow that is pretty cool. I can not really get a good assessment of my phone battery life. It is a 30-45 minute commute to work so my phone is in the cradle running 4G and Google Music. Then at work it is trying to ping services hard because of a secured area. So generally I leave work and it is struggling on 40% after sitting in a cubby for 12 hours. And my phone is all stock baby.
It really depends on where you are as well. When I am outdoors close to a cell tower with excellent signal strength, I can go a whole day and barely move the battery meter. However if I travel or am inside with a poor/decent signal, the battery dies much faster.
I also get really good battery life on my thunderbolt. Heavy usage, music, games, browsing on some wifi but mostly 3g (no 4g in my area yet), and I get about 15 to 17 hours on a single charge. Definitely lasts all day for me.

Good Battery Result?

I am using a stock battery on my G2x and am debating purchasing a new one on Amazon. This is my last reading from 100 to 0 percent : (attached files)
Are the results good or should I purchase a new battery? And if so, which one? No batteries that require a bigger back door please, thanks!
Also, I am running 4.0.4

I can pull a little more than that if I'm not fighting for signal...
Do you use anything like Juice Defender? Or maybe a similar function within the ROM?
I'd try stuff like that before purchasing a battery. But... it's always nice to have a spare.
Actually I see that your screen display is taking up the most battery so just lower the brightness of your phone and you will see results.
Thanks for the reply! I use a battery saving app... forgot the name of it. I know the app icon is an Android.
The screen was hogging up the battery because I was using my phone a lot. Games and browsing.
Thanks for the feedback.

i got almost 3.5 days when i changed over to EB 4.0.4 with some texting, a few calls, a couple hours of reddit, and lots of mp3 playing. so far with having the g2x i have found that using auto with the screen and keeping wifi off will give alot of battery life no matter what with custom roms.
i am also using the anticipatory scheduler so it jumps around and a bit of undervolting.
Update to my last post. I had to reboot in the morning, so add like 20 more minutes to screen time for accuracy. I am pleased considering all the gaming and browsing. Definitely worth the extra bulk. Reliability before phone aesthetics.

[POLL] Battery life

Hi guys, (& others)
I did a poll in order to inform people who doesn't have HTC One S, & also people who want to situate their HTC One S next to the other HTC.
So, have a good vote, & sorry for my bad English (If I have spoken evil )
Thank you. :good:
Best regards,
Less than half a day when I use it at my level of multitasking.
More than two days at ''normal'' people's level.
I charge twice a day but I am a heavy user and overclocked to 1.8ghz which means more drain on battery heavy use I get 4-5 hours that's intensive use 24/7 love the phone tho
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
I think that the battery life is very nice. I can get between 3-4 hours of screen time and 1-2 hours of talking in the cellphone.
I put the brightness of the screen to 30% in the house , and 50% outdoor.
But it's really depends of what you are doing.
There are many different vote, we can't know if we want an HTC One, S if he has got a good or a bad batterie life. It depend

Techrader has a good review on the battery and their test results. They got 6.5 hours of using it at some max settings.
For example, one day, we took it off charge at 9am, browsed the net, sent a few tweets/emails and made about 40 minutes worth of calls. At 1pm, we fired up the FM Radio and Runkeeper Pro and went for a 90 minute run with the GPS on that whole time.
At 3pm, we were in the car with the HTC One S connected to the stereo via Bluetooth streaming music (and live radio thanks to the Car app which we'll mention in the next section) and using Google Maps Navigation for about 90 minutes again until the battery conked out at just after 4:30pm. Bear in mind, the screen was on for that whole 90 min period too!

I got mine on Monday and I firstly noticed that the battery seemed to be draining fairly quickly. I mean, 14 minutes in and it's at 83%. I decided to turn off all of the 'Location' settings and so far it seems to be going good, however I don't get any weather updates (and I like seeing the weather animations). I've also kept my brightness to just below 50%. I still haven't used it consistently for a whole day, so I don't know how it will go.
