[ROM] [AOKP] Hand-rolled for the Acer Iconia A200 - Miscellaneous Android Development

**UPDATED 6/23/2012** v0.62 UPDATED TO BUILD 40, I STILL HATE KERNEL COMPILING
Inspired by nicholasblock's self-compiled CM9, and with much thanks to Team Kang, Obsidian, RobKort, hbwelch, xmc wildchild22, ProTekk and especially the original inspiration, peteralfonso (I used the way early Bugless builds on my original Moto Droid). Reading everyone's posts does wonders. I take very little credit for any of the crazy coding that went into all of this.
I make no promises of any kind, including but not limited to if you brick your device, responding in a timely fashion, etc etc etc.
This is for all intents and purposes stable, except the CRT Off Animation (Read Below). I would appreciate insight or help from anyone interested on working on the project.
It is based on aokp_picasso_build-40. Here's the official Changelog/News:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED>
+ ClockworkMod Installed on your rooted a200
+ aokp_picasso_e-ota-eng.profet.v062.zip here> http://www.mediafire.com/?eukxy8xokjooex7
+ Obsidian's Onyx 1.5 Kernel FOR CM9 here> http://www.acertabletforum.com/foru...cer-tablet-experiance-part-one-kernel-oc.html
+ Gapps if you want them here> Goo.im Downloads - Downloading gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
Put those files on your sdcard (NOT INTERNAL MEMORY)
Instructions assume that you are reasonably familiar with rooted devices and flashing:
1) Boot into recovery
2) NANDROID BACKUP!
3) Format data/factory recovery
4) Flash aokp_picasso_e-ota-eng.profet.v062.zip DO NOT REBOOT YET
(gapps go here if you want)
5) Flash Obsidian's kernel
6) Your tab will automatically reboot, welcome to AOKP!
7) Turn off CRT Off Animation in Settings > ROM Control > General UI (or you will get quick reboots every time you turn off the screen)
I'm new to compiling but am interested in refining this with some technically minded people. Thanks!
What I'm Looking At Next:
- Fixing Network Location
- Getting it to actually recognize and handshake with the market as an A200
- OS-specific tweaks and staring at build files more
- Getting a [email protected]#$%^& kernel built in
Testers welcome! I work quite a bit and lack things like special bluetooth doohickeys to test, so anyone who's interested let me know.

Ad-hoc
Great job! Thanks!
But...
unfortunately, now is not working ad-hoc. In build 39 everything was fine

screenshots ?

A few things:
1. In trying to "get the market to recognize us as an a200", this is an issue with how this ROM was built. Either you didn't compile it from source (and just edited a bit of the a500 build), or you compiled from the a500 source with a few tweaks. There is an a200 source in the aokp github, I would suggest you use it. I would hazard to guess that this will fix most of the other issues as well.
2. As far as building in a kernel to your build, take a look at the device repo for the Amazon Kindle Fire (otter).
Add this (generally) to the device.mk file in your device repo:
ifeq ($(TARGET_PREBUILT_KERNEL),)
LOCAL_KERNEL := device/amazon/otter/kernel
else
LOCAL_KERNEL := $(TARGET_PREBUILT_KERNEL)
endif
As soon as my source finishes syncing I will build the a200 source as well, and if this fixes any other issues you have, I'll edit/update this post.

question. for some reason after the install, the wifi randomly stopped picking up a signal. theres no sub thread for the a200. any help?

none

It's been a long time since I used this rom but i had the same trouble losing signal and it seems like i just turned it off and on again and it would come back but I never got a fix for it .

There are too many awesome devs here !
Ok, flashed it, not bad at all mate, but the issues I had were:
* Headphones weren't working; and
* Browser kept crashing.
But otherwise tested a whole pile of things (different settings, apps, etc.) and was solid man. I'm going to go back to carbon, but if you solved the headphone issue you'd have me keen.
Cheers again for the rom.

There a known fix for the headphones, I'll see if I can get it added for the next build. Do not flash the headphone fix from the One S root box thread. It breaks more than it fixes.
The browser has me stumped, but I'll see what I can figure out. Use an alternate browser for now. I tried Dolphin it worked fine.
I'll add them to the OP for now.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Cheers man, I had dolphin and agreed that worked a ok.
No worries on the headphones, small issue really and I know there is a fix out there somewhere, but I'll just wait for your next build. Like I say, the rom was really good other than that.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
As a temp fix for browser, what you can do is after ROM.zip is compiled and built remove the browser.apk and add in Dolphin or whatever browser you please in its place. Until you find a true fix. That's what I've done in MIUI previously.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
The new chrome beta is as close to the stock AOSP browser as there is out there. That's what I am using. Not that big of a deal. I am sure someone can help you fix it. Other than that...this has been running great!
OP UPDATED WITH NEW BUILD. Headphones appear to be back in working order. Still stumped on the browser FC.
Browser fixed to I believe, will be uploading soon...

all better now
This ROM is fantastic. Probably one of the best I've tested so far. Everything seems to be smooth and working. The only issue, well not really issue per say, is my WiFi connection seems to have really low signal. Or maybe its just me. Who knows either way amazing. Definitely probably going to be my daily driver.

Wow thanks!!!! This is one of the smoothest roms I've ever tested

Speed-wise, it's way faster than CynogenMod 12.1. Also when i had installed CM 12.1 i had lost my root acess fml.
so rather than wasting time on CM's nightlies, install this.
BlissPop was the most stable ROM so far, but it lacked video recording feature and this one fulfills the needful.
and also this comes with the latest Android version.
I think the battery life is affected a-bit. only A-BIT. like very less and it's considerable.
so yeah i guess this one's the best 5.1 ROM for Moto E first gen.
Thanks a lot to the curators

you want to build? irrelevant, but if it helps, I use ElementaryOS Freya, the configuration is what brings defaul.
I am wanting to do something about it. I tested some distros that week. I am currently with the gnome ubuntu and the eos in a note. My specs: pentium g3220 3GHz, 8GB ddr3 1600, 120gb ssd, 1tb hd (think gives to do something without take centuries?)

FAQ:
So you want to enter the competitive world of professional ROM flashing? If so, you need to take your phone flashing to a new level. How can you position yourself and your expertise so you are the dev's obvious choice? Be honest. Do you enjoy troubleshooting? Do you have a problem with things going wrong? If so, then you might be better off staying on your current OS.
If you are still reading this and are sitting in your chair thinking: “I could do that, if I tried”, then maybe you have a chance.
If you can't read, watch this video: https://youtu.be/JmvCpR45LKA
Q: I flashed an update and lost TWRP
A: You need to re-flash the TWRP file via fastboot.
Q: I want to use this ROM, but I don’t want root. Is that possible?
A: You’re in luck. This ROM does not come pre-rooted. So you can use this with no root if you desire. Although, I’m not sure why you would want to do that, but you can.
Q: My phone reboots randomly
A: Use adb or any other file explorer tool to pull a copy of /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops (command: adb pull /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops) after the reboot and post that. Try to include what you were doing when experiencing the reboot. Also refer to the next question before filing any reports.
Q: I’m having weird crashes/reboots
A: Do you have other third party software installed such as a different kernel, Magisk, sound mods, etc.? Remove all of these before submitting a bug report. Reports made with unsupported software like what is listed above will not be addressed.
Q: Will this ROM receive frequent Security Updates?
A: Yes
Q: Does this ROM pass SafetyNet?
A: It should if you don’t flash root when installing the ROM, since it doesn’t come loaded with root out of the box. If you want root, Magisk will allow you to pass SafetyNet.
Q: Does OTA work?
A: Yes // Not for now on OP3
Q: Do I need to do a clean install?
A: If you’re coming from another ROM, yes. If you’re already running ours, a dirty flash should be fine unless otherwise specified. If you have problems, try a clean flash before reporting issues. Refer to an above question if you are coming from a stock-based ROM or are possibly encrypted.
Q: Will you add stuff to the ROM?
A: *insert perhaps cow meme here*
Q: Is this a Stock based ROM?
A: No
Q: Does the camera work?
A: See the OP for current stuff not working

Same for me, roughly a minute to find Wi-Fi.
Very good ROM, more than purrnexus, great work .Thanks for developers.
Two questions,
1. Does it have render kernel included?
2. Does the ROM has signature spoofing enabled?
Your PAEX was one of my favorite roms.
Will not even try, these people are the worst.
I was in the telegram group and I saw terrible things.
Absolutely no respect unless you only say good things and praise the dev and his friends.

F.A.Q
We do not recommend nor support using 3rd party mods(helix/akt/viper/substratum/greenify/etc), beta magisk versions, magisk modules, and especially not other kernels.
Before issues should be reported:
1. Rom needs to be clean flashed
2. No Xposed, AKT Profiles, Helix Engine, magisk modules, or other mods, kernels, etc.
3. Do not restore any apps with TiBu or Swift or some other app restoring application
4. No Substratum themes installed
If you can still reproduce the issue you're having:
1. Logcat/logs must be provided with your report in order to receive any support.
2. I also need a full description of what happened, what you were doing when it happened, and a way to guarantee-ably reproduce the problem. If I or my testers cannot reproduce it, not only will it likely not get fixed, it likely isn't even an issue with the rom/kernel.
3. Screen record or picture of the issue is also helpful.
If you're not familiar with how to get logs, I prefer that you would use Syslog app from the Play Store as it will grab all necessary logs for you and scrub any personal data from them when doing so.
If you can't give logs for errors or possible bugs, I literally cannot help you solve it. You might as well not even report it.
If you have a question:
1. Please read at least the last two pages of the thread
2. Use the 'Search this thread' function on the top-right of this site
If you still cannot find the answer you need, go ahead and ask away.
Telegram Support Group is closed. Support will only be given here
Common issues:
Q: What does clean flash mean?
A: Wipe system/data/cache/dalvik in recovery and then flash rom, gapps, and magisk if you want it.
A2: If you are doing so in order to reproduce an issue you're having, no other things must be flashed, changed, altered.
Q: What is dirty flash and when is it allowable?
A: We do support dirty flashing SD releases directly on top of previous SD releases ONLY. You just flash new release right on top of previous SD version without wiping anything. We do recommend you wipe cache/dalvik cache however.
A2: If you have slow downs or any other issues tho, you must clean flash the rom and follow the steps above before reporting anything.
Q: You get 'Android is starting' on first boot after using SD-Debloater.
A: You removed launcher3quickstep without having another launcher installed or restored with google. Install another launcher or wait to use debloater until after you've setup the phone and installed a separate launcher.
Q: You flashed magisk zip and booted phone and there is no magisk manager apk in apps and root isnt working.
A: Install magisk manager apk by itself once you're booted, it sometimes doesn't get installed with zip.
Q: My battery life is horrible
A: Stop using Greenify, amplify, and/or other "battery optimization" apps or mods. Stop blocking wakelocks and alarms, just use the rom and kernel as they come without any tweaking.
Side note: Facebook/FB Messender/Instagram/musicly will destroy your battery life.
Q: Can't change QS layout (Rows/Columns)
A: Pull down QS Shade, click 'Pencil' looking icon, click 3-dot menu, enjoy.
Q: What do location icons mean
A: Dot = Sensors only, + = Battery Saving, H = High Accuracy
Q: No Recents options/clear-all button in Settings
A: Quickstep Launcher(Pie recents) uses its own setup so 'Recents' options are hidden while its installed/enabled. If you remove/Disable the Launcher3Quickstep and hence go back to normal AOSP recent style, then Dragon's Den will show a 'Recents' tab with Clear-all button toggle, placement selection, and a membar toggle.
Q: PUBG
A: This game is horribly "optimized". I do not support this game at all and I do not build anything with this game in mind.
Q: Screen flickers/android auto
A: For now best bet is disable HW Overlays in developer options.
Extra stuff
HDK-Mod-v1.0.0
This is my own modified build of Grarak's Kernel Adiutor app.
I have added a few extras that were missing for sound control, pdesire audio, DCI_P3 mode, sultan's battery cycle/charge commits, Boeffla Wakelock blocker, and KLapse-Livedisplay support.
Also changed the theme, and updated some stuff.
Work in progress but needed something to fully control my kernel.
Full credits and much love to Grarak for putting in all the hard work on this app, not trying to take away from his work, I am just posting mine here in case you deleted it from my rom.
My source for it is here.
HolyDragon Recovery Project 3.2.3-0 8/09
*Fixed not saving settings
*August patches
*New decryption blobs
This is my own modified build of TWRP, currently version 3.2.3-0.
I build it with my rom source so same optimization as my rom, Built and optimized specifically for the OP3/msm8996 SOC.
I built a kernel specifically for this Recovery to maximize the backup/restore speeds and lower the battery usage at the same time.
What once took ~140 seconds to backup system/boot now takes ~70. No loss in functionality, encryption and all that still works fine here.
I've changed the default theme and also ported some features from RedWolf Recovery that I found useful like substratum overlay wipe.
Source for this here: device, twrp, kernel
Please no more talk about Gcam and Spectrum they're removed from the rom and considered OT if you need them go to their threads.

Exactly this, plus tremendous stability. I've been using skydragon for a couple of weeks now (and omnidragon before that) without a single FC or random reboot. Device specific optimisation works people.
Excited!
Going to flash when I get home.

I try to get in love with this magisk module:

Be careful, read the thread, understand its working method/behavior, make a full sd-backup, read the f**kin' manual again! Just my two cent... good luck

Welcome to SkyDragon OS for the OnePlus 7 Pro!
This ROM is based on AOSP source that I have optimized(WIP) for our device. It currently only fully supports the 7 Pro as that is what I own. Theoretically the 5G version will work too with a supported kernel flashed after magisk before booting the OS. The regular 7 will likely work fine too but no notch support currently for it. These are test builds for now while I work on fixing the few remaining bugs. Most things work tho!
Based on AOSP

Telegram Support Group Closed. Support will only be provided here.
Reserved
I'm posting this early in the hopes of getting working source out to the rest of the developers that might be interested in trees so we can fix the remaining bugs quickly.
I keep everything on gitlab, if you sync the whole rom source you'll be missing the trees for this model from the manifest but they are posted.
Trees are made for omnirom based roms not lineage FYI.

I read that it should support regular OnePlus 7, any device specific features for this rom that will only work with pro? I want to get my hands on this. But front camera is not working is it the motor which is not working or the camera module?

only regular 7 thing not working would be the notch cut out, so you might get some content behind the notch.
And yes the front camera motor is not working yet.

That's awesome man, if only motor is not working then ideally front camera should work with regular Op7 since it dont have that fancy mechanism. I am planning to flash this tomorrow will share the results here.

One thing if flashing in twrp and coming from OOS you would need to wipe wipe cash system and data I then flash this ROM and then after flashing it reboot to twrp wipe data then adb sideload the gapps and magisk. Flash to the system after this the phone will try to reboot but get stock so now go back to twrp and wipe the phone by typing yes then. Reboot and it will boot

Is it just the way it's shaping up on my OP7Pro or does the status bar need a little more padding on the right as it looks like the circle battery is slightly cut off?
