[Q] Camera JPEG quality - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

is there a way to change jpeg quality/compression ratio of the camera pictures for the stock camera application?
current setting is producing pretty low qualiry pictures

I'm sure it could be modded. Hopefully we can find someone to do this for us. There was a mod for the vivid that didnt compress the jog at all.

[Q] Replacement Camera App

Hey guys, coming from the epic I an missing the great camera options it had. Does anyone have a good app they use for pictures? I'm not looking for better output, but options like panoramic and whatnot.
Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
The stock ICS camera app can take panoramic shots, albeit in not very good quality. For a replacement app, I'd recommend Camera zoom FX (was on sale for 10 cents awhile ago). It really depends on what features you're looking for though.

I use an app called "Pano" for panoramic shots.

lgCamera is also a good, free alternative with lots of options.
Is there one with zoom, or is that not possible on the nexus a 4G?

I'm using Camera Zoom FX and Vignette. Both are very good i think.
Both have a Zoom but of course only a digital zoom.
If you don't have a zoomable lense (nexus phones dont have) then only digital zoom is possible, which has a poor quality and you can do better yourself on your computer.

You realize since it's a fixed lens that any zoom will only be digital? Thus it's simply like cropping a larger picture to see a smaller section...
Edit: Didn't notice blackg3cko already mentioned this. My bad.

Camera Stablization?

Hi guys,
The one x has an awesome camera with great picture quality. However anyone knows if there is a camera stablization app or software. Some pics come blurred a little specially the ones taken at night

Have you tried burst mode by holding the capture button down and then selecting best shot. Its not a perfect solution, but it helps sometimes.

[Q] Camera Quality Question

Ok so i switched over to the One X from the Galaxy S3 for 4 main reasons, 1. When HTC finally is up to date with the source codes, this phone can most likely beat the S3, 2. The screen shows colors and looks a lot better, 3. The build quality over the S3, and 4. The camera. But after some use the camera isnt all that i was expecting unless im missing something, to me the camera doesnt seem as good as the comparison pictures and the pictures i havet taken with the S3 and One X. Any ideas on how to improve the camera capture quality?
Reduce saturation levels by -1.
Otherwise, pink seems like vibrant red and distorts a lot of colors.

For best quality use a custom ROM with the HQ camera mods that disable compression on the jpg and up the bit rate on the video.

This will not fix the pathetic default color settings nor will it fix the incorrect calibration of the preset white balance options. I must say that as nice a phone as the hox is the camera is a rather disgraceful dud and an egg in their face. As pointed out earlier reducing saturation by -1 take the state of the camera from useless (skin looks like cooked shrimp) to merely atrocious. HTC really needs to fix that pronto, and the problem is somewhere in the demosaicing and color conversion algorithms.
I love the camera on the One X.

[Q] Camera App saving blocky lines / strips

Hi guys,
I have a problem with my Desire S.
I don't use the camera that much until now as previously I had a digital camera I used to use. So I'm not really sure when this started to happen.
When I use the standard App and also an app called camera zoom fx it looks fine on the viewfinder but then when I save it the image is distorted very badly.
I also tried an app called fast burst camera, which for some reason doesn't do it. However the fast burst camera resolution is not very good so want to use the default of other app.
One last thing, when the photo is taken and it shows you the image youve taken for a couple of seconds that seems fine its only when you look at the image from the gallery that the image is distorted
Anyone else come across this or know what the issue could be?
Thanks!
What Rom you use?

No matter what camera app you use you'll get a loss of quality when using digital zoom.

Yes, the zoom feature is just a digital zoom, not optical. Meaning its basically just cropping the image and making the pixels bigger, therefore the "grainy" look.
If you want to zoom in without the grainy look, just move closer to the photo subject! Of course that may be obvious, and not always possible. But camera phones are just snapshot devices (for convenience and "spur of the moment" picture opportunities), not serious photography cameras.
