[Q] How to return from cm9 to. 29 rom - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have installed various experimental ROMs but found my tablet 'crippled' in many respects. I guess they are still early in their development.
I would like to flash .29 official ROM again and tweak that to my own liking but that will lose root. Since I unlocked the bootloader so I cannot do OTA after downgrade root.
Could anyone help? Preferably give me a fresh copy of WW .29 rooted TWRP recovery backup?
Or does anyone know of a modded .29 Tom out there?
Cheers guys

Just flash the normal ROM, then flash the root zip in the second post of the CWM thread.

I managed to flash stock .29 rom, now I cannot use the wolf's method to downgrade as before, CWM cannot be accessed as before. back to square one.

Try reflashing CWM or TWRP, then flash the root zip. You really shouldn't have to downgrade for anything with an unlocked bootloader.

It seems that the bootloader is just broken. When opened an android lies flat with a body flap open with red lights on.

[Q] Stock LF2, rooted, CWM Recov to Jellybean

I need advice on what you would do in my situation. I am on stock rom LF2, rooted, CWM recovery and bootloader unlocked and I want to upgrade to JB. What would you recommend be my upgrade path without wiping data? Just doing a dirty flash using CWM or upgrade via OTA and then rooting using the ODIN packages? As an added complication, I recently acquired the copy/paste bug. Thanks for your input.
Use the pre-rooted no-wipe version here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984436. Then you can just boot up the phone and flash CWM recovery using EZ-Recovery and unlock with EZ-Unlock version 1.2. There is another guide stickied at the top of the development section but I think it is a little more work to get the same result. Make sure to take a backup first of course. Then if you want the latest CWM recovery you can flash it with ROM Manager. I used this method to go from stock rooted and unlocked VRALG1 to the J1, K1 and then K3 leaks all without wiping data and everything has worked great. No media drain or anything else.
Thanks, I was confused about which method to use. I just finished flashing and everything seems to be working.

[Q] Firmware

I have rooted my TF700, but have not unlocked the bootloader yet. I had to downgrade from JB to ICS so i am on the .30 firmware. Should I manually update the firmware to a JB firmware even though I am running ICS? Is there an adavatage, or will the firmware actually install JB back on? Also, when I load a custom ROM, should I also load an updated firmware?

What do you mean.
What would you like to do? Get back on JB (rooted, and locked bootloader) or do you want to flash custom roms, which require an unlocked bootloader?
I guess what I'm asking is, when I run a custom ROM, should I flash an updated firmware?

That depends. I am not that familiar with downgrading, so if you could turn off your tablet.
Then press the power button while holding the volume down button.
Then you should see 'bootloader version' somewhere on the left top corner.
If you could note that down and let me know, that'd help a lot.
It could be possible that your bootloader is still the one from before downgrading. If it is, you can start flashing roms as soon as you have unlocked your bootloader.
If it has downgraded too, you have to
1) Install Voodoo ota rootkeeper & make it protect your root
2) Flash the official latest firmware version
3) open voodoo ota rootkeeper and restore your root.
I think there's a walkthrough for your case somewhere in the general thread. Look for 'walkthrough' there, you should be able to find it.

Depend on the rom build. If the rom build on JB, then yes, you need to flash JB bootloader if you're on ICS. Custom rom only contained rom and kernel.(sometime without the kernel so you need to read the instruction). So if you're on ICS you need to flash JB bootloader (either just flash the bootloader alone or flash the entire firmware which included the boot loader). Then you can flash JB custom rom. If you're talking about the new CleanRom, it's on JB (so you need JB bootloader) and has option to flash stock JB kernel or custom kernel. For me, I always flash the full Asus stock firmware first to make sure I have everything then I flash custom rom. Of course, you could just flash the stand alone JB bootloader then flash Cleanrom.

[Q] How to update bootloader to 10.4+ on tf300t?

Now that the CM10.1 nightlies have been released for my TF300T, I want to update (I've been running CM10, and just now have gotten around to trying to update to 10.1), but according to this thread I need to have my bootloader updated to JB (10.4+). I tried using CM's auto-update but it didn't work and sent me into a bootloop and I had to reboot into recovery and flash my previous ROM again. I take this to mean that I have the incorrect bootloader, so:
How do I check what version my bootloader is?
How can I update my bootloader to the proper version?
I've read that flashing firmware from ASUS will automatically update the bootloader, but then I'd lose root and have to flash a custom recovery again, which I'd like to avoid doing. Maybe I'm overlooking something extremely simple here, and for that I apologize but if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

[Q] Best option for root

Its good to join a new forum!
Ive decided too take one of tf300s home from work to help feed my root hunger (also running cm10.1 on htc evo 4g lte)
This tablet is currently running 4.0.3
Assuming i will be walking the custom ROM road, should I leave tablet at 4.0.3 or upgrade to JB? I won't have my p c to perform fastboot until next week, this is why i ask.
Thanks in advance

I would suggest moving up to JB. I've been using CM 10.1 (which is running 4.2.1) on my TF300T and it's been great. The UI and options are better on JB than on ICS, even though ICS was a pretty great step up.

I also just got my tablet now and I'm holding the firmware update while reading, what do you advice? push to OTA or unlock, root, then custom rom? I thought I saw few others having problem with JB is that OTA JB? That's why I'm not pushing any OTA updates for now.
Thanks in advance!

1st solution (That I've made)
Don't update to JB now.
Rooted and unlock in ICS
Backup your root with OTA Rootkeeper
and after JB update by OTA and restore your root with OTA ROOTKEEPER.
2nd Solution:
Or unlock and root your TF and use the NVFLASH tool (with pre-JB bootloader)
3rd solution:
Go on OTA JB Update
Unlock your TF
and use this guide : [ROOT/ROM] Root Stock/Deodex Firmware 10.4.2.20 (US/WW) | Insecure kernel ! when you are on the version of firmware
Go to my index and you will find all the links that you need

Thanks for your help here's what I did:
-Unlocked using APK
-did NVFLASH tool
-flash CWM
-root
-install OTA Rootkeeper
Now I want to install hydro and I know I have to be in JB boot loader the only question for me now to be able to proceed is:
-Install the pending OTA JB update (I dont know if this will proceed installing since it was downloaded while Im stock, I'm afraid it will brick my device since Im now unlocked, nvflash, rooted)
OR
-Just DL latest from ASUS (ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T Firmware: V10.4.2.20 Only for US SKU (Android 4.1)) Can I just install the latest or I need to install pre requisite update first?
THEN
-Install compatible recovery for JB
-Install custom rom

It's really easy now that you're unlocked, rooted and used NVFlash.
I suppose you're still in ICS.
Backup somewhere all of your files (stock rom, nvflash file etc...) use Titanium backup for save & restore your apps later
You can use both process for update your TF
The OTA update, and every time, you are going to have to restore your root.

[Q] Question on stock rom

I am selling my Tf300t and am wanting to return to 100% stock. I dont really care if the bootloader is relocked or not, id rather it be left unlocked.
I am currently running 4.0.4 build IMM76I on aokp_tf300t_build-38 with and old cwm recovery.
I have not messed with this thing in a LONG time.... I've been sifting threw some post about returning to stock.... but it all refers to some stock 404 file that points to asus website that I can no longer get.
My question is... can I just download the latest firmware off asus site "US_epaduser_10_4_2_20_UpdateLauncher" and just flash this in cwm? will this replace cwm with stock recovery? will this install a jb bootloader? can i do all this from ics with an old cwm?
Thanks for any help all...
