[Launcher]For ICS users ONLY! - Xperia Play Themes and Apps

Currently, myself and a few other people are working on porting Samsungs TouchWiz and HTC Sense 4.0 over to the Play.
After some Google searching, I came upon a Launcher that is close to the Galaxy S3 interface. The guy who made it says its the extracted TouchWiz though. So it may be just a Launcher or it may be the actual S3 TouchWiz
Install via CWM. No need for wipe (do a backup just to be on the safe side and incase you dont like it).
Screenshots are the Homescreen and the App Drawer
To add Messaging, Phone etc into your dock bar, first drag and drop out of the app drawer onto your homescreen, then drag and drop from there.
Widgets can be added by longpressing the home screen by pressing "add to homescreen" followed by "apps" then clicking the widgets tab up top. It's easier to do this through the app drawer however
I'm running this over MIUI and still get the MIUI notification bar, lockscreen and settings.
All thanks and credit go to froilson over at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1670723

Awesome! Might switch over from Apex for this

This is the default launcher from sgs3. It is nice.

Samsung widgets with Launcher Pro

Is there any method/hack to use some of the samsung widgets with Launcher Pro or any other launcher for that matter? I really dislike the samsung launcher but I'd like to use their feed widget for twitter as I've yet to find another good scrollable one.
Thats not possible simply because the touchwiz widgets are withing the touchwiz UI, the come as a hole not as separate packages, hence they can only be install on the touchwiz launcher.

That's too bad. Does anyone know of a similar widget to Touchwiz's feed widget out there? I really liked the way it lets you scroll both facebook and twitter but I love ADW way too much to go back.
Yeah the feed widget is what I was hoping for as well... closest thing I've found is Pure Messenger

A bit off topic, but how do I get Launcher Pro back as the default launcher? While trying to get Kies to work, I made TW the default launcher, not realizing you can't turn off TW the same way. Or do I have to reinstall LP and lose my settings.

I did this too, I think I went into the manage applications menu under TWlauncher and clicked the button that said clear defaults. I believe thats how I fixed it. Then after that hit the home button and the choice to use launcher pro or twlauncher again.
I tried that initially. No TWLauncher showing in the list...hit the menu button and found the filter option. Selected "show all" and there it was. Thanks!

TouchWiz 4.5 for Optimus 3D

For anyone who's looking for a replacement launcher, I confirm that TouchWiz 4.5 runs on our devices and scrolling is smooth! Its great benefit over LG Home is that Touchwiz is more customizable. You can put whatever apps you want to the dock bar (an alternative dialer, or sms program for example).
No need to root the device in order to install. It's just a common .apk file!
Here is the original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061883
Download .apk from here: http://www.i900playeraddict.com/android/TW45/HowTo.php?lg=&page=download
If your dock bar has only the apps icon, don't worry. Go to the apps drawer, hit the menu hardware button (the leftmost one on the face of the device) and press "Edit". Then you can drag whatever icons you want to the dock bar.
Please visit the original thread and thank Fr4gg0r, not me.
Thanks alot!so great and smooth..using it now
I have been using it for some time and its excellent kinda adds cool effect to o3d also add exdialer with dark theme over stock phone dialer and phone becomes more awesome.

Home Launcher

I don't know about anyone else, but I have a BAD habit of wanting to change what my Atrix looks like, every 5 minutes. Sometimes its because I may not like the ROM and sometimes I may love the ROM...but need change. Especially, when I see a new ROM has been developed.
So I thought to myself...since I need change, how could I do that, without constantly flashing ROM after ROM. Stupidly, not thinking of this before - I have been playing around with home launchers.
I decided to make this post because I posted a few screenshots in the thread of my current ROM (Jellybeer) and I have had a lot of inbox messages asking what "theme" I was using. So I wanted to put this out there for those who have not discovered this home launcher. Now keep in mind, you can theme CM10 - and change the home launcher at the same time...which is awesome. Some home launchers even offer their own themes (which may change your icons, font etc) So lately, I have been spending more time combining themes of CM10 with different launchers, which led me to discover YANDEX.SHELL.
Its pretty basic, but offers some awesome visual effects (in my opinion). Which includes - its own dialer that you can use by default if you wish, a new look to your contacts, and my personal favorite - the carousel! The carousel is neat in the aspect that its animated. Its activated with the "pinch" gesture on your home screen and it shows all your home screens in a carousel that spins one screen at a time...animating any widgets you have on that screen (NOTE: Animated widgets are the widgets that are provided with Yandex)
The link and my screenshots are below. I hope this helps and let me know what you think! Cheers :good:

Change LG UI Icons with Downloaded Icon Packs

Use downloaded icon packs meant for third-party launchers, on the LG UI from the Google Playstore.
First and foremost, a thank you goes to @mgbotoe for previously posting how to change each individual icon within the LG interface/UI.
Specific Post HERE
Tutorial:
1. Download the app "ThemeX - Theme Extractor" from Play Store.
This app extracts and saves icons and wallpapers from installed third-party launchers apk's. (I.E.: Go Launcher, Adw launcher, Apex Launcher, Nova Launcher and Go Locker)
2. Download and install your favorite theme/icon pack (from any launcher) from the Play Store. (No need to have that actual launcher installed.)
3. In the app, select your newly installed theme/icon pack and select which icons you would like to use. Then click on the save button on the top right. (Diskette icon) To save them to a newly created folder inside the ThemeX data folder.
The images will be available/accessible in your gallery.
4. To use your new icons, long press on any icon. Once you see the mini paint brush icon, remove your finger and tap the icon again , click on add new and complete action with Gallery.
Browse your Gallery for the icon of your choice. (Will be listed in a new album labeled 'icons')
**Once the icon has been added it will remain in LG's 'Icon Change' menu. Even if the icon image is deleted in your gallery. **
( I guess we will have to wait for Root in order to delete them from there)
Now repeat these steps for each app.
Omg, I had completely forgotten about this app! Thank you for the reminder. I had used this back when I had my g3.
Thank you very much!
Nice work @gerry_753 I complete forgot about themeX when I originally answered!
Can you still use a custom launcher? I just want to change the icons for my second screen. I'm following instructions but don't see the paint icon when long pressing.

Of course you can, it is just like any android phone
I personally love the LG Launcher so much, I have not bothered with any other. With Tweakbox...its out of this wooooorld
I saved the icon. Found it in gallery, but when I long press the icon through the gallery I don't see the paint icon. Tried it also on the home page. What am I doing wrong?

Long press on the icon you currently wish to change. Like if you want to change the Phone icon long press on Phone and it will show you the paint brush.

Hrmm, from what you said I'm assuming you're trying to change your Gallery icon and you are clicking on the replacement icon image? So you need to have the shortcut you want to change on your home screen/desktop. (In your case the Gallery shortcut) Can't change them in your app drawer. And click and hold on the home screen/desktop icon (the app icon you want to change) for a second and the brush will appear. Release and press on it again.
Thanks for the tip on ThemeX, and for the instructions in general.
I was able to get the icons fine, but every one of them has a black background that doesn't turn transparent when I add them as icons on my home screen. Does anyone know a way to bypass this?
I use an icon pack called Materialistik. It themes the entire devices icons. Lock screen, second screen, app drawer, qslide, and home screen of course. If you install it go to home screen themes and select 'materialistik' and apply. The screen will appear blank, but trust me hit apply and it will work.

This is what is see. Trying to change my Gmail icon, which is nova already, but want it to be in the second display. If I long press it gives me the option to remove it. That's why I was wondering if it works with nova launcher.
Works with stock launcher, but it didn't change in second screen yet, trying a reboot.

I'm assuming it is theme dependant. It's just the way the themer decided to create them. Unless you transfer them to your computer and use like photoshop to make the black transparent, your stuck with it unfortunately. (If there are less than 20 that you really want to use, you can PM me the theme and I can do it for you)

Yeah, Nova Launcher is a completely different animal. With it's own rules and setup. (I know adw launcher allows you to change each individual icon ontop of any theme.)
This tutorial is only for people who want to change the homescreen icons in the stock LG UI.
***And also, this only changes the icons on the homescreen. Not the second display and not the app drawer. ***
Thank you and thanks @mgbotoe for these helpful tips.
I'm pretty certain that you could just add this line to the android_manifest in any decompiled icon pack and then compile it, sign and install the apk and it would work. Seems a lot quicker if you ask me and a hell of a lot less painful!

There are some icon packs in playstore that support the LG home Launcher. Just search for them.
They change all icons that the icon pack supports.
I like the moonrise icon pack most.

Nova Launcher TouchWiz theme with the new "squircle" icons ?

Hello,
I am trying to work my way through setting up my new S7 Edge the way I like it, and it proves quite difficult. I'm coming from an LG G2 and now I find I don't have a "double tap to wake" or "double tap to sleep" option which drives me nuts. I know that the wake option is hardware-based and kernel-related, but I need at least the double-tap to sleep feature and Nova Launcher supports it, but I hate the appearance of that launcher and I need some sort of theme that looks like the default theme. Now I did find some TouchWiz themes for Nova Launcher but not with the new-style icons (squircles). Does anyone know of such a theme in existence ?
Thanks !
Edit...sorry. I now see you don't want the squircles icons. My bad.
I used TouchWiz Icon Pack on the Google Play Store.

Search up "TW icons" in the playstore. The icons reminds me of the iOS icons.
As a sidenote and a former G2 user as well. If you choose to use nova launcher just for the sake of dtw, you won't be able to use your fingerprints to unlock the device for security reasons. I just learned to accept it, and use the power buttons. After a few days it wasn't that bad, and i honestly don't miss it anymore. Fingerprint scanning is just too convinient. But don't get me wrong, Nova Launcher is still the best launcher in my oppinion, and highly customizable. I could never use the stock launcher. Nova launcher is the first thing i install. Was the case on my G2, my G4 and now on my S7 Edge...
