[Q] LTE for MZ601? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there guys,
Just a brief question, when I bought the Xoom I thought it'd be a good idea to buy the 3G version since I read on American websites that it would be upgradable to LTE.
I just wanted to have confirmation before I ever consider buying a new tablet:
The EU Xoom (MZ601) didn't get the upgradeable option from Moto, did it?
Thanks!

need a honeycomb tablet with 3g that will work in moscow, any recommendations?

as the title says, going to be visiting moscow for some business and need a tablet with 3g/4g to work there. i looked at the lg g slate since it has a sim card that i could just put in from a local carrier, but would that work? are there and 10in options? all help is appreciated. would my 3g xoom work there?
You don't mention where you are from or where you bought the Xoom OP but if it's a US Xoom it won't work in Moscow - afaik they don't use CDMA in Moscow. If it's a UK/EU Xoom then you will be able to get a SIM in Russia to work.
yes, mine is the us version.

[Q] Is the xoom a good purchase for rooters outside the US?

So I'm considering purchasing the Xoom in England, but after looking through the Xoom development section I have to wonder - what is the ROM situation like for non-US Xoom owners? It seems like the majority of development is being done for the US model.
If any non-US owners could share an opinion on my hastily drawn conclusion, that would be great.
The Tiamat ROM is a 1 stop ROM for all current XOOM versions out there last I checked. So it'll work with whatever XOOM you got, rather it's the UK version, the US version, WiFi only, or 3G, it'll work.
Info about the Tiamat ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1203635
Info about rooting your device from whatever version you have: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242241
I have just brought a xoom from currys (24hrs ago). Rooting was a pain and I went straight to tiamat works a charm on UK wifi. I am very happy with my purchase...

[Q] Planning to buy GTab 7 Plus - Need Advice

Hi everyone. As the heading states, I am planning to buy the GTab 7 Plus in India for my dad. Now, here is my concern:
In India, the same tab is marketed as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 620. It still has the 1.2 GHz Exynos Processor, 1024X600 resolution screen & includes Voice calling features. I have searched all over the net & couldn't find if there are any differences compared to the GTab 7 Plus which is available internationally. So, in this case, is it only the change in name for marketing purposes or is there some other variation also? Basically, I want to understand if I can use all the ROMs available here on XDA with the tab available in India?
If anyone has any info on this I would really appreciate it. Thanks in Advance!

But I thought the tab was for your dad? Kidding...
Take a look in the development subforum just to be sure but as far as I know there are no custom ROMs for the Plus yet.
Hi im from Philippines. My advice is do not buy Galaxy Tab 7 plus... why? Because Gtab 7 plus is not super amoled. You just wait for Gtab 7.7 that is a amoled LCD...

I already bought GTab 7 plus for my mom. I pissed off when i read about the specs and it is not amoled LCD.

Yes, I am fully aware that it is not super amoled. The point is that my dad is getting a limited time offer from his workplace for a 60% discount on any phone purchase. But since he already has a phone which he is content with, he wanted a tablet to use as an ereader. This is the only well speced tab which has phone calling capabilites & is available for purchase here at the moment.
Anyways, I have gone ahead with the purchase & dad is happy with the device. Thanks for all your inputs.
Guys, I don't know about price for Tab 7.7 in your country, but in Russia I got my Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus for $468 and price for 7.7 starting at $780. So I don't want pay twice more for super amoled screen and 0.2ghz difference
I am also looking to buy a galaxy tab 7 plus and am undecided which version to buy. I live in the united states and I could just get the p6210 wifi only version, but I am not sure if I will need 3g. I don't want to buy the wifi only then find myself often wanting to use the wireless features when I have no wifi. From my understanding i can use the GPS no matter which version I have so that's at least a plus no matter which way I go.
If I end up buying a 3g version which would people recommend the international unlocked one, the t-mobile un-subsidised, or the t-mobile contracted one.
For people who live in the US and actually got the international one, which cell phone company are you using with it and are you able to get a cellphone plan and use it as a huge cellphone.
People with the t-mobile version have you been able to unlock the subsidised version and/or use the unlocked version as a cellphone? Either with a t-mobile prepaid plan or another company that uses the same frequency.
From what I have read it seems like the international one would have to be used with at&t and t-mobile version is only usable with t-mobile in the US atleast.
In Thailand has 2 version
P6200 (for 3G 900MHz)
P6200L (for 3G 850MHz)

I have the 6210, I'm fine with wifi only because 1) I'm not paying for yet another data plan, and 2) tethering your phone to the tab works great, assuming you have a smartphone.

You should buy GT-7 plus, Super amoled is not very importand for your Dad.

I second that. In addition, the extra screen resolution and slight bump in processor speed are not worth the extra money IMO. Good Luck with your purchase!
I think you should go on and get it. Sure, it lacks Super amoled screen, but I find that people that randomly see my tablet have no problem with my screen.
In fact they say the screen is pretty awesome. In fact, the only real people who seem to notice the screen are fellow tech people.

[Completed] Best Budget T-Mobile Android Phone for Rural Areas?

I didn't know where to post this (since there isn't a "network" forum) but hope this doesn't break any rules. Sorry if it does.
Hey guys, my dad and sister need a new Android phone for T-Mobile. Basically, they currently have an old Moto G and GS4 for AT&T that I have working on T-Mobile and they are having signal issues in Springfield, MO and Wichita, KS. What would be a good new phone for them both that has about 32gb of space (16gb could work...) and is LTE capable there? I'm guessing it will need band 12... Hoping for something under the $200 mark. I've bought and sold on Swappa before, so that can be an option. I prefer new, but used can work if it's a good deal. An iPhone would be best for both because my dad has an iPad already but Android can work as well because I know iPhones aren't really under that price.
Anyone have a good pick I can find for them? Thanks!

Need help installing newer Nvidia Shield 32gb 4g LTE USA 5.1 or 5.0 Recovery image

I've been looking for many answers for this tablet and haven't found anything concrete. So I just purchased the 4G LTE 32gb Shield tablet not the K1 from someone off CL. I noticed its only on 6.0 android and 4.4 nvidia software. And I believe it should be on 7.0 android and 5.1 software , but when I try to do a ota update it says its already up to date. I Can anyone confirm that 7.0 and 5.1 did come out for the LTE model US model? Secondly can anyone tell me what I need to do next, because I went to Nvidia and it shows only 5.1 for LTE RoW and 4.4 version for the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet LTE USA Recovery OS Image. Ultimately I would like to have the latest features of the shield tablet and not lose LTE functionality. Lastly, I read that 5.1 was slower then 5.0 so would like to know if trying to get that version would be better, either way I can't seem to find either version. IF someone could point me in the right direction of how to get the official stock or a rooted one that works that would be much appreciated. THANKS

They have not released 7.0 for the US LTE version yet. There are reportedly ways to load the ROW Rom and tweak some settings and get LTE working in the US, but I have not tried it yet.
Do you have a SIM in it yet. How is LTE working for you? There is supposed to have been LTE changes in some parts of the country that are preventing anything but 3G and HPSD on the tablets, both AT&T and T-Mobile. We are hoping that the delay is due to them figuring out what needs correcting to get us back LTE.
The person who sold me the tablet didn't provide me with one, he was using his tmobile sim and must of lost the att sim. I would also like to know how well the LTE works. I will hopefully look into getting a data plan just for the tablet to test. How is the LTE for you? Also have you installed the RoW version or installed a tweaked ROM version?
P.S. I called Nvidia tech support to ask them the same question the first tech said he needs to research my question and will get back to me in no more then 2 days. So I called back to speak to another tech, his response was that he was a level 1 tech and that the Level 2 tech that had spoken to me before will follow up me. SMH...
I am still running the US Rom. I am on T-Mobile and have not seen LTE so far. I live in Colorado and have also tried in Salt Lake City. I have only had the tablet for a few weeks. You can read through some threads here on XDA or look over here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/...let/lte-t-mobile-issues-since-october-2016/1/ and see that LTE has been having some problems since October.
You can see here for trying ROW Rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/sh...eriment-flashing-ww-lte-firmware-lte-t2951111
And here is @Frankenscript trying it before knowing that LTE has become a known unrelated issue https://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tablet/help/how-to-lte-speed-lte-tablet-running-row-t3583778 He had quite the adventure. I now consider him an expert on this.
Just follow the thread on stock recovery images and OTA with guides under shield tablet general and you're good to go.
