I was not sure if it is the same as the leaked ruu. I do know that multi-tasking is fixed on this out of the box firmware. I have left the browser and returned to it after 10 minutes and there is no refreshing or reloading of the pages.

It may be out soon. The AT&T store I went to received their shipments today. I am guessing now that the custom issue is resolved and the stores replenish their stock, HTC and AT&T can now release the OTA update.
Oh no! What will everybody have to complain about now!

Great to hear. Is there any noticeable slowdowns when using the phone?
Honestly. I doubt the 1.85 has hit store units yet. Ya prolly got someone's unit that they returned bc they wanted root. Clearly stores aren't checking firmware on returns. But if it is brand new it's good news bc devs will be getting on it.

I have not noticed any slow downs, but then again neither was the previous one x. The reason for the replacement is the lost of voice/data connection at times. The only way to regain signal was to reboot the device.
I had to reboot mine today to regain a signal and I'm on 1.85. This is getting real old real fast

This is brand new out of the box. I was there and watched the AT&T rep broke the seal on the box. I then removed the sticker on the from of the device and fired it up. This previous store was out of stock previously. This 1.85 also is different from the leaked version because multi-tasking is fixed on this out of the box version. Let see if other XDA members experience the same results now that there are new stocks in the stores.

Can anyone else confirm they got a new phone with 1.85?
I jus checked a bit. With xda & stock browser open , I get refreshes on stock browser when switching to that. And also I have connection issues in bad areas. If I lose connection completely sometimes it's up in the air if it wants to reconnect.on its own or not. Sometimes requires reboot or airplane toggle to reconnect. Btw I'm on leaked 1.85. So I hope an official ota with fixes drops soon.

Personally, I would wait for CM or another rom to come out. Video chat will probably be optimized (among other things) in those roms anyway and there is no telling what this will do to root. It may "fix" root and plug up the exploit so that you are back at square one again.

It's the same update we know about.
I would love cm on here but I hope there will be some way to keep the genius button. That's one piece of bloat ware that I love. I heard someone with a g2 had it on their rooted device so maybe a easy to add it to our custom ruins when they come out?

I was wondering about that also. If it was to plug a hole, it will become evident if those with the 2nd OTA find that the s=off and/or the rooting itself procedures no longer work. And then there is tethering....
Would TMo be that mean ???
If you make a backup using Clockwork, could you just reflash to get back to where you were if the new OTA takes away root?
If it's just a Qik update, can Qik from the new version be pulled from it and then installed on a phone without the newest OTA?
no because you need root to nandroid your phone
Only one update. If you have 2.2.1 thats the update for qik and some bugs; I got the email from HTC in their monthly news email.

but since i just traded in my white mytouch 4g and got the black one, now im waiting for the 2.2.1 update again lol. but does anyone have problems with gps locking on to where ur at? it takes about 5 mins at times to find me at my house.
Does anyone know when can we expect AT&T OTA update for HTC ONE X? I am very tempted to update to 1.85 but it will make me reinstall all the apps (including some corporate ones - for which it would be pain to get the corporate IT to cooperate), but I am holding off hoping that official OTA must not be that far out?
I am a very recent new customer to AT&T so I don't really know what is AT&T's track record regarding OTA? Do they do regularly all the time? Or, is it more like, once if you are lucky?
Thanks,
Osho
OTA AT&T
As a long time AT&T customer, Cingular before that (AT&T by another name) & Bell South Mobility (A division of AT&T). I can tell you that the wheels of a OTA firmware update grind extraordinarily slow. It will happen but there's no telling when.
If we knew, it would be plastered all over the tech blogs (Engadget, Android Central...).
yeh att drags their feet on this stuff..
If AT&T pushes an OTA update, will it detect if your bootloader is unlocked? Should you relock it before downloading the update?
1.85.502 ruu
Just as an aside, I've been running the leaked 1.85.502 ROM that is available and that the OP mentioned. I have had zero issues with it. The WiFi seems to be fixed, battery life seems to be improved and the system seems more responsive overall. As always when it comes to a leaked ROM... YMMV & FAYOR!!!

Does AT&T sell phones with different firmwares than what is the latest OTA update for the same phones that may have been sold earlier? This sounds soooo wrong at so many levels. Why 'punish' your first customers?

I guess it's possible that the batch of phones that were delayed in customs could have the new ROM on it... but... It makes me feel better (if this is actually the case) that the 1.85.502 ROM will be the next OTA update. There is a difference between the OTA ROM release and the RUU ROM, the latter clean installing the phone and the OTA not. Personally, I prefer a clean install / wipe over an incremental / update install. Less issues in the long run.

Nobody that has bought the phone after the customs hold up has had anything but 1.85 on their phone. I think it's legit, and part of the reason there was a delay.

I tend to agree. Don't know if it was every definitely proven. But it seemed to me that on the HTC Flyer tablet people who updated to Honeycomb (from Gingerbread) using the OTA had pretty severe performance issues, while those that updated through "unofficial means" (RUU, custom ROMs) had great performance (including myself).

I hope improvements to 'camera stability' means improvements for when the camera:
isn't playing nice with multi-tasking,
isn't sleeping properly,
might be the cause of phone over heating,
might be the cause of random reboots,
might be the source of battery drain...

While I get what you're saying, it's hard for me to remain calm considering how erratic my signal is. Sometimes the phone just decides it has no sim card even though it does. Data hanging? Yep, I got that. Sporadic text notifications or lack thereof? Check. Having my phone function just as a phone would ease my nerves a little bit but as it stands it does it's own thing and it seriously affects my day to day.

to be honest I hope it wont be that similar. I am on 1.78, sim free phone, and it reboots sporadicly when switching from hsdpa to wifi.... I am crossing my fingers that the new radio included in 1.84 will solve this.

This is a Verizon only issue that NEEDS to be fixed. It is bull that Verizon wasted time locking down the bootloader that they screwed up their device... but to people who live in one of the "dead zones" the phone is all but useless as anything except a music player. Just because it's not an issue you have suffered doesn't mean it's not a necessary and needed fix.

The NO SIM error is ridiculous, and I am glad this will fix it. For those who don't know, some people can hardly use their S3 at times. I've had instances where every time I try to send a text for 20-30 minutes, it says sending, I lose all connections (no network at all) for a minute or two, then it reconnects, rinse, repeat. This happens when trying to send texts AND making a phone call. Imagine if you had an emergency and every time you tried to call your network dropped for 2 minutes.
But I don't know what else this will do to the phone. Disable current root methods? Bootloader issues?

Yes, many of us have the same issues, even in great 4G areas like DC. No new sim card or handset replacement would ever fix it. Took long enough for VZW to release this fix.
As usual if you are rooted/unlocked/running a ROM do NOT download the OTA update. Wait less than 24 hours for someone on the forums to debloat and flash manually. Obviously if you are stock, rooted, and locked go ahead and take the update VZW pushes out.

That's not good. I really have no desire to root the phone at this point but this may push me in that direction. I'm surprised that's legal.... phone search still nerfed, doubt that ones coming back in the USA.
I had this no sim error only in a few places around my home area... but one of those areas included my house. Two new sim cards and two new S3s later, I am extremely happy to hear about this fix! Oddly enough, I never got a no sim error here on a 2 week business trip to Utah.
Had to manually load the update tho, now all is well! Thx for the tip!

Hrmph. I buy and sell a lot using the ebay app. The update killed the app.
Just got the update pushed to my phone. Deferred until we find out if the new version is rootable/unlockable.
Verizon get update, fingerprint issues, crappy WiFi, Bluetooth, and low volume issues all fixed, among other things... Here's to hoping we get ours soon...

Where did you see Verizon got an update? I find it hard to believe they got any update before us.
Don't worry guys, we'll get it somewhere around Q3/2016. T-Mobile has our backs.

Crazy. T-Mobile seems to be dropping the ball with the V10. The device isn't even listed on the site for upgrades.

They've been dropping the ball period. I believe they were last with Nexus 6 upgrade if you didn't remove your SIM to force it.

Looks like that list was published around Oct. 6th-ish, and the V10 wasn't available until maybe the 28th? So what I'm hoping is Tmo hasn't updated that list. If I'm not mistaken, there are no other phones on that list that weren't already out by Oct. 6th? Damn I hope I'm right anyway..... They can't forget this phone, can they?

Ultimately it comes down to LG sending an update to T-Mobile. T-Mobile is pretty good about getting them approved and out.
T-Mobile finally updated the updates page and added the V10..
