Hello everyone!
Phone: nexus s 3g running stock 4.0.3 with matr1x 14.0 kernel
my 1st question:
i was wondering how can revert back to stock kernel without flashing my stock rom again or going back to my previous backup?
i know it is very easy to switch from kernel to kernel but i would like to know how to switch back to my stock kernel. If you come across a link please send it to me. Thanks much appreciated.
my 2nd question:
my phone reboots the 1st time when loading up matrix kernel.
what happens is i press the power button .. the phone boots up normally then halfway through the animation it gets stuck and the phone reboots BUT this time the boot animation works properly and i am finally booted to my phone. Note that i have absolutely no issues running the kernel + BLn + Voodo etc (also not oced either)
question how can i solve this? is it normal?
I have one last question (sorry lol)
about voodo colour is there anyway of removing the grren flash that i get from unlocking the phone.
i know i can reset to 2.3.3 colours and that does do the trick but i would like to use my own custom settings..
stock 3.0.8 kernel can be found here in 3rd post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399273
Questions regarding matrix should be asked and may already be answered in his thread
And green flash is common on kernels with voodoo it also turns screen green occasionally for me when auto brightness set
not sure how to fix haven't researched doesn't bother me that much

Alright...
First off is this a specific rom? Like kustom kream, nexus beam..
Or just stock ics rooted
Second, try this again.
Get the rom zip again, then get the kernel zip again.
1. Wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache
2. Flash rom
3. Set up rom
4. Go back to cwm
5. Wipe dalvik cache
6. Flash kernel
7. Reboot
Did you do it like that?

Green flash can be fixed by downloading the voodoo control app in the market then going to the RGB profiles then selecting the voodoo profile

Green flash can be fixed by using either 2.3.3 colors or punchy

im on offical ICS 4.0.3 rom stock (rooted) with matr1x 14.0 CFS
well i downloaded matr1x through rom manager and after wiping dalvik cache i flashed the kernel.
is there anyway of fixing without clearing data? i have a lot of stuff on my phone i would rather not erase... also im on stock ICS so how would go about flashing it again(its not like a rom i can just dl and install or is it)?
speaking of which i know titanium backup backs up apps but does it also backup like my contacts, sms and phone settings etc?
update: i went ahead and only deleted cache and dalvik cache and then installed the kernel again. same problem =/

followed ur steps perfectly.
anyways i just restored everything back.
wow your 16 !
im 16 aswell i dont even know the 1st thing about making kernels and so forth lol.
Lol sorry you couldnt get it to work...
The only other suggestion I have is to try another rom...
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
thanks for trying .
anyways the thing is the kernel works perfectly fine other then that and sinc ei dont reboot my phone so much its really not an issue for me.
just another quick thing since that is the only problem i have experienced with the kernel and that everything else is fine working fine should i be worried about stability?
No, the kernel is pretty stable out of the box.

So recently, I flashed ViperXL 2.0.0 to go along with the Beastmode 3.0 kernel. Everything has been going well, but I've been encountering some sort of bug...that doesn't really seem to be a bug, but there's something definitely up with my phone.
About once or twice a day, my phone will just get up and reboot itself completely randomly. I'm not sure what, if anything, is actually triggering it. The weird thing is that other than these reboots, my phone runs extremely smoothly - without lag, freezes, or anything of the sort. I'm not sure what the problem is, and I can't really replicate it because it happens so rarely. Anybody else encountering the same sort of issue?
Wrong Forum. Try clean wipe, cache and dalvik cache as well and re-flash the rom.

I was hoping to avoid that actually, because I've set up all my apps, settings, etc. all nicely after migrating from the stock ROM. The problem is that the reboots are sparse enough so that it's not a hindrance, but it happens enough such that it's a lingering annoyance.

wrong forum ... and thats the simplest way to fix the reboot problem im on viper and have not had any troubles
also get a backup app saves time..
backup only the data when doing a backup in recovery wipe and reflash 2.0 and them restore data . if the reboots are still there then i would say its an app causing the reboots

I normally use Titanium. So you're saying to not choose "App+Data Restore", install the apps directly from the market after a flash, and then load the data in?

I use app + data but only for market installed apps, I don't backup system apps or any of the apps installed with the rom. I personally have not had any problems doing it this way. I have not had any reboots or major lags on Viper XL btw.
I was seeing this as well, are u oc to the max 2.1? If so bring it diwn to 1.8, and see if it fixes ur problem. It did for me. One of my hox phones can run 2.1 no issues, but the other one........as soon as i try 2.1 i get all sorts of problems. Try a reflash of the kernel, with 1.8 speed. Post results.

I actually flashed the 1.8Ghz version, and I have been running it at 1.7Ghz only.
However, I have all the voltage-step frequencies set to the default. Global voltage is also set at "0 mV". Does anybody have any suggestions for the Voltage Frequency Steps?
Also, although I have the "Use Separate Voltages" unchecked. I noticed two separate settings for Frequency steps that seems kind of odd.
On one, the frequency says 0MHz, with a corresponding voltage of 852mV.
However, right underneath, the frequency says 0MHz again, but with a voltage of 0 mV. Is that something I should change?

Every time I put my phone to sleep it freezes and reboots. Sometimes it'll reboot fine, others it'll freeze on the google boot screen until I pull the battery. I've tired 4 different ROMs from locked stock to unlocked Cm9 to baked and slimbean. I've tired dirty flashing. I'm out of ideas now. If anyone could help out I would greatly appreciate it.

Changing kernels is exactly like changing ROMs. You flash them, although, you have to wipe cache and dalvik cache every time you change a kernel. Look in the developer section for our phone, there are 3 kernel choices: Matr1x, Marmite, and Air Kernel. Test each out on different ROMs, find your favorite. Be sure though, if you're going to be hopping between Android versions (4.0.4 (ICS), 2.3.7 (GB), and 4.1.1/4.1.2 (JB)) You find the version of the kernel that corresponds with whatever version of Android the ROM you're using is running. As far as I know, Marmite is only available for JB, Matr1x has kernels for all versions of Android (GB-JB), and I think Air only has ICS and JB versions. Hope this helps!

Hi..
It either some junk files u have floating around ur SD card..
Or
Are u tweaking the CPU when u install the ROMs?
Or
Are u using titanium backup to restore any of ur apps?
Try to do the entire factor reset/ wipe both cache & dalvik but also flash a zip file call "wipe all" ( it formats everything under storage and mounts except the SD card stuff)
Then flash the newest slim bean 3.0 it comes with a good kernel
Flash it and do not add anything. Check if the sleep reboot issues still occur.
If not then make a backup b4 adding ur apps and restores since one of those can be causing it.
I hope it works... good luck

Hey everyone, I have the HTC One X and it has restarted at least 3 times today and around 3 times yesterday also.
I realize there are other threads on here but none of them have my ROM or have no solutions.
The bootloader is unlocked (via HTC Dev), it's rooted, and I have the CleanROM 6 R2 ROM installed. It's incredibly annoying considering every time it restarts I have to restore my widgets, set up Swiftkey again, etc. ANNOYING. Please help
What can I do to fix this?

No custom kernel at all, just flashed CleanROM 6 and got a new boot splash screen from a trusted guy here, so the only kernel I have is the one that is w/ CR.
Didn't overclock or undervolt.

That is not logical reasoning. A corrupted ROM flash can cause a wide range of issues, multiple or just one.
Also what version of twrp are you using? Did you wipe cache dalvik system and factory reset prior to flashing?

I am using the latest version of TWRP. I followed all the instructions from ScottsRoms.com when I flashed CustomROM 6.
Flash 2.3.3.1 or under, all versions above have issues wiping.
Fastboot erase cache after then wipe everything and flash the ROM again.

So I flash a older version of TWRP, clear cache, erase everything, then flash the same rom?
what can I use to backup my apps? because I really don't want to start over again.

it's a bug with 4.1 jellybean. Use titanium backup to backup swiftkey, and other widgets that resets on boot. Then uninstall them in settings and go back to titanium and restore the apps and data.

I'm also having constant reboots and crashes, 3-4 times a day and if I go to sleep I always wake up to find the phone off, which is extremely annoying and somewhat concerning as I need to be reachable by some people. I'm using the TeamEOS ROMs. I haven't found a custom ROM yet that doesn't crash constantly after a while. They all seem stable at first but as time goes on the crashes get more and more frequent, I wipe and reset as recommended (cache and dalvik) with every flash.

Hello,
I tried rooting my HTC One S but that didn't go as expected. I used this but it failed and now a lot of apps are force closing on me. I have no idea what happened. Anyways how do I restore the stock ROM? I am really new to this device so I have no idea where to start.
I am in Belgium (Europe) so I'd like to keep that firmware. I had created a backup using the backup thing from adb? (idk it asked me for a backup and I could add a password if I wanted).
I really hope I can fix this :/
Thanks in advance..
EDIT: I noticed the device is going really slow (animations and such). Buh
I used an RUU to fix everything. Much easier than using Odin on my old Galaxies. Sweet!

The link you posted is blank. What ROM did you install?
I had the issue with the PAC-man ROM using 4.3.
I didn't flash any ROM, that's why I find it so weird.
I used some one click root method because I knew these worked on my Nexus 7 and Asus TF700 as well. I guess I was wrong.
