Facebook for Android Problem - General Questions and Answers

The application Facebook was ever too slow and I do not using it. I was login from browsers and everything was okay. Few days ago in all browsers I have, was impossible to see any image content on site of Facebook. So I download thems application but there was same problem. It loading pretty fast but it skip to load the photos. Even after selecting a thumbnail and open the photo I get only the black background of the image viewer of Facebook. But today I discover a very strange case. This problem with Facebook images is existing only on wifi networks. All other sites loading images without any bugs. When I am connected with my mobile data Facebook works perfect. I tryed too many times with switching to wifi and mobile data this morning. It load the photos only over mobile data. The net on my home router is much faster for sure but Facebook works better on the slower mobile data. 90 % of my surfing is browsing photos with huge resolution in hundred sites. The problem is only on Facebook site. At least is working over the mobile data and I can still use it. On my laptop everything is okay all the story of the post is about my android phone. Any ideas what stoppes Facebook working normal over wifi?

Well ayydin, your not alone. This is a huge problem for them at the moment and there is seemingly little known as to what is suddenly causing this, and when a fix might appear. Just be reassured that there are a million + other prople out there with the same problems. FYI, I tried many fixes, nothing solved the problem in the long run.

Whenever I launch Facebook while on Wifi, it tries to go to the mobile connection. But since Mobile Data is off, it doesn't work.
I go into LogCat and see something about "ipv6dns current tech is 14" message.
I've tried using SetDNS to bind IPv6 to IPv4, but no go... Facebook is the primary problem, but it seems like other apps (browser, twitter) tries the mobile network first instead of the Wifi... and every time it's due to IPv6 in Logcat... Still don't have an answer though.

I sometimes experience the same problem. It's so irritating that I practically stopped using FB on my phone...

Market on mobile

I've searched, and all I found was the trick to *#*#4636#*#* then cypher off, radio off, radio on, cypher on
... which doesn't work.
Here's my issue: The market works.
I mean, it only works on Wifi. If I turn off wifi, or head to a location without wifi, and I try to access the market it gives a data connection error - same with other apps. I have no idea why, but only certain ones are affected.
For example, on 3G/4G, I can get onto the Internet using the standard web browser, or browse, google+, facebook, twitter, etc, all just fine, quick as ever. but try to open the Market and it times out waiting for a response? try again on Wifi, and it takes no time at all to pop up.
Here's where it gets really weird. I've noticed that HTTPS causes a lot of slowdowns on my APN, I noticed it with my previous cellphones, going to HTTPS sites, and it's an order of magnitude slower, which, if the Market (and others) are using SSL, could cause the issue, especially if their timeout is shorter than the browser - but the weird thing is, Twitter is setup to use HTTPS always, and it does not seem to take very long to get updates from the server when refreshing my feed.
I'm confused. I just want the Market to work whenever I need it to.
Any ideas?

Facebook/ Instagram apps wont load photos on wifi??

Anyone having this issue. Not exactly sure what changed in my wifi setup but in the facebook and instagram apps photos in my feed wont load. When i switch over to mobile data or use the web page in the browser over wifi they load fine. For some reason my wifi does not play nice with instagram and facebook apps. This is on my galaxy s4 but have tried several different devices and they all have the same issue.
Has anyone run into this problem? Tried searched and found some people who had the opposite issue with it not loading over mobile data but havent found a thread on this. Thanks for any tips.
I am having the exact same issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the exact same issue, its seem to be a router problem, my newsfeed load fine one 4g and other wifi (i have a galaxy s2), but on my home wifi the newsfeed for facebook or instagram won't load, my sister is also experiencing the same problem with here galaxy S......any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
FYI: i've tried restarting the router, upgrading the firmware which didn't work. also before i realized it was just the router i've tried force closing, clearing the cache and restarting the phone, i've also uninstall and reinstall the app several times.
I had a similar problem but I sorted it out today on my Nexus 4. My problem was, the default gateway on my phone was different from what it has to be for that specific wifi network.
In windows one can check the default gateway by running command prompt (cmd) and typing ipconfig.
On your phone you also have to check the advanced settings for that wifi network that you have problems with.
I set the Ip settings to static from DHCP and entered the default gateway values from my pc to my phone. You can also get another ip for your phone in that advanced settings tab if you think there may be an ip conflict but as I told, my problem was the differing default gateway values. I haven't changed the DNS which was google dns by default.
Key thing was the default gateway values for me and I'm hoping this will help many of you.

App Lag only at Home - N5 only.

So... Ive moved into a new condo and got a new router, high speed internet etc. Everything works great on ALL my devices, 2 other cells, 2 laptops etc etc.
The issue Im having is on my N5.. and N5 only. Apps like Twitter and Instagram will refresh normally once.... then when I back out of the app reopen and try to refresh again, neither will refresh unless I use the square button to "kill the app" from my rolodex and reopen the app.
I just get the swirling circle indicating it's trying to refresh.... but wont. All other apps work fine without issue, though FB will sometimes lag a few seconds, but update normally.
It is EXTREMELY frustrating and has been happening for well over a month now and it is only on this phone.
note: the wifi connection is perfect, the speeds are sky high, and the pings are beautiful.
I cant figure out what is causing this.
Do you use anything like Tasker? It may be an app that keeps track of your location? Or it could be WiFi?

Wifi periodically not loading/spinning on facebook, browser and in games

I have the latest firmware on my asus router with all udates and fixes.I use the router plain and simple with no features like icloud or other things. I am alone so it is just I that use wifi on my mobile. Often when i use fakebook or browser it will not load and is just spinning...and wifi is connected(i also check this when it is happening). So to solve it i have to turn off wifi and turn on 4g.and use that a few seconds and then back to wifi..then it is ok until next time it happen. And it happen more often on browser than fakebook. I also tried to check out other browsers but same result. Tried to search internett and xda but no sucsess....Does anybody know anything about this problem?
And maybe it is just the way things are. I also quite often have to restart my computer when youtube videos(often) or Netflix(only sometimes) wont play..just black screen in youtube websitescreen.
I have had this problem for a while now but nobody answer mer or acknologedge this problem. I have posted this in general in Note 3 thread and in a Merl router forum.

WIFI internet speed

Particularly with Facebook, it becomes very slow, minutes to load screens, when I do a reboot it is fast again, what is the problem, what else can I do
Anyone
Why is internet very slow, much slower than with the PC, using the same wifi
Cant say why but I do notice even on the mobile data Facebook at times will not load pictures no matter how long I leave it there to load. I can run a internet speed CK and the speeds are not slow at all. I have to close out the FB app and restart.

Check your router's wifi area for the encryption it's using. If it's TKIP or TKIP+AES, change it to AES. (I don't use Facebook, but my wife did, and I had to do that about 3 years ago, when her phone would take half an hour to load the first picture, and never finished loading a video. Don't ask me why, but something in there, Android, Facebook, something, doesn't seem to like TKIP.)
Did it, AES only, first test works fast, lets see later, thank you :good:

I am very glad I insisted and you answered, I would never fix it otherwise, Facebook and others working fast now :good:
Good, I'm glad. It only took me about 3 days to figure out. (Okay, to be honest, after I'd looked at everything else, I just figured, "It probably won't do any good, but let's try it.")
Now if some working network engineer would just get in there and figure out why ... YouTube works fine with TKIP, so it's not just that TKIP slows video down. The compression used by the server?.
It was very slow opening Facebook, changing pages, opening online photos, the whole thing
