Like many thunderbolt owners, I'm slightly annoyed with the battery life.
Is it worth the bulk and cost ($45) to get the extended battery when I can just get a $15 spare battery? The regular battery fits in my wallet. I know a droid X owner who carries a "wallet battery" as a backup.
PS- is there a standalone battery charger for the regular thunderbolt battery?
I went for the extended. Yes, it's bulky but it also makes it through a long day of heavy use without a problem. Plus, that battery door is so hard to remove that I'd rather not mess with it.
The extended battery will certainly do the job, but it adds bulk & weight to a phone that's already no lightweight. And the case selection is pretty limited too. You can get a spare battery + charger for ~$20 on ebay. I can give you a link to a reputable ebay seller if you're interested.

Keep in mind that if you're using a spare battery, it means the phone has to power down, and unless you literally run it to the point of shutdown you aren't going to literally be squeezing every bit of power out of it. You'll get more total time with a 2x capacity battery than a spare.
I would say go with the extended. I only charge mine overnight and it makes it through a full day (5am-11pm). I do turn off 4g when I am at work and when not using my phone however.
A while back I got a 3-pack + charger on ebay for about $20. I haven't had any problems with them. I haven't noticed them lasting less than the original. Either way, I have 3...1 stays in the office, one in my backpack, and one at home.
It does suck taking the case & cover off (the case that I had on my Eris came off faster than a prostitute's panties). I usually have it plugged in for my commute so the battery makes it, and I really only swap batteries on weekends, especially when flashing a buncha ROMs.
I went with these. They are a little more power than stock 1700mah and you get 2 batteries plus wall charger for $34.99. They work very well for me and get me 2-3 hours more time than stock with moderate use...

I tried the extended batter and I did not particularly like the weight and especially the bulk of it. It just isn't for me. I have home, work and car chargers, so I can keep it charged when I need to.
Do the 1700 mAh batteries fit under the stock cover like the 1600's do?

i went with the 2750 mah and love it. battery lasts 14 hrs (no 4g coverage where i live) i got used to the heft rather quickly and love it. now to mod the car dock to fit this thing.

I have a spare standard battery and an external battery charger. Works great. I charge both up every night and keep one in my pocket. Haven't run out of power yet, and I'm pushing the phone pretty hard. (Live wallpaper, oc to 1.5, gps always on, 3g, sync, lots of texting)
I'm really pleased with the extended battery from Verizon. I just left the phone running to see how long it would go and I've gotten 2 full days out of it. It's been running 34 hours now and I'm at 5% power. I'm running bamf 1.7 and I'm in a 4g area. Although most of my time is spent on wifi.
I find that the phone is easier to hold with the extended battery. And the back is hard to remove so it's easier not having to worry about changing the battery.

I got the batteries in less than 2 weeks and I had a friend order from the same place and he got his fast as well. I've found these batteries as good if not better than the stock battery.

I've been debating ever since I got my phone two weeks ago if I was going to give in and get the extended battery or pick up a cheap spare regular battery+wall charger and hope somebody will come out with an extended slim battery.
That link posted for the 3 batteries and charger for less than $12 seems like a good deal. I think I'll end up doing that so I can have a battery to carry on me and I can give one to my girlfriend.
I bought both the extended battery and the 1700mah batteries. I only used the 1700mah batteries like a week and got annoyed by the battery changes and bought the extended. Been happy ever since.

I bought from this seller. He is in New York, if I remember correctly. If you are in the continental US, you will get your items within a week.
I ended up going with the Verizon Extended battery and also got the High Gloss case for it too.. Now its complete in my eyes. I got used to the phone being this size now. Not bad at all considering how long the battery lasts now. It rocks.
I would say that you should first install Juice defender free. You will see that your battery life is greatly extended. You don't need root for this, it's an easy install from the market. After that, if your battery life is not acceptable (mine is), then go buy something

I've heard stories that Juice Defender in the market is worth it, may want to check out the free version.
I also recommend the stock battery for the EVO Design 4G, fits perfect in our G2/Desire Z and gives a little kick over stock. If you are looking for a monster extended battery that requires a new battery door, check out the battery thread in Accessories.
A lot of folks on here swear by so called "higher capacity" 3rd party batteries like Seidio and others.
But a while back, a guy on here did a bunch of testing of various 3rd party and OEM batteries on various phones. He found that the expensive, so called "high capacity" or extended 3rd party batteries almost never met their rated mAh. And often even tested lower than the stock (lower rated) OEM battery.
He wrote up his test methodology and results very comprehensively. It looked to be done pretty scientifically, and I take more stock in this than anecdotal evidence. Can't find it right now, but its a great writeup.

That aside your can try flashing a different kernel, for better battery life.
I have the Mugan 1800mah, after flashing a new radio (the newest one from T Mobile) and the matching RiL files my battery is lasting longer. So far on a single charge and moderate use I am getting around 36 hours.

I only got them yesterday, but already i have noticed a big difference. I had a stock battery before but these are lasting between 30 and 50% longer. I have heard good reviews about them before and they seem good so far.
You do need to remove the sticker and cut off a small bit of plastic to make them fit reasonably, but for the price your getting what appear to be 2 good batteries. Mugen slim batteries are a ripoff IMO.
So EVO 4G batteries would fit with some modifying? Hmm i think an external battery would be better for my use than carrying spares.

Just out of curiosity how long does ur average battery last? I can usually squeeze ~14 hours with moderate use. if u don't want the bulky feel I would suggest just getting another oem battery as a spare
Idea:
Grab one of those Energizer charge-on-the-go things with a micro-usb plug and use that to rapid charge your phone when you need a boost mid-day.

^ Just an idea.. I would substitute the lithium batteries with rechargables so that you can charge those up overnight and have them ready for the day too.
I have the stock battery and it can last about 19hrs on moderate use (10hrs on heavy) on Virtuous Quattro overclocked to 1.2GHz. Never had my phone die on me even when I ran Sense ROMs (after a 3 day break in period =p)

I'd get both a aftermarket and a OEM, Run a test on both to see which works better for you.
I recommend Mugen's 1800 mah

I don't know if you've tried juice defender app before but I think it helps. Not a lot but you can tell that it improves a little. I think the app kills the date, wifi, when it's in sleep mode and turns back on when you wake and use your phone.

I ordered a 2200mah battery for my Infuse off ebay for $8.
I am going to try that out and see if I get anymore life out of it.
I would have gotten the 3500mah battery, but I use an otterbox and I dont think it would fit since it has the bigger cover to hold the bigger battery.
I work in a metal forging plant, so I have to use an otterbox for my work... so it is a must have if I want my phone to last.
I did order a 3500mah battery for my wifes Samsung Captivate.. She doesn't really use/need a case. I got that off ebay as well.. for about the same price.
I hope her phone lasts longer, because she can't even get a day out of it... hers is rooted running MIUI.

I just got one of them 3500 batteries from amazon and its a solid battery, it wont fit on the case because i have the Otterbox case and cant use it with this, but you can definitely tell the difference in how long it lasts, and the case fits on the back of the phone great it has tabs and snaps right in. I use this battery when i am at home using wifi or alot of power on my phone and use the Samsung battery when i leave. Great investment for $10 but when you have the case on the phone it won't do you no good.

Getting a larger battery will help, but there's a lot of ways you can manage your phone's power consumption to dramatically increase your battery's life.

All I've done is use the power management program Juice Defender (on extreme setting, so data is off unless I toggle it on), not use a live wallpaper, and use a Gingerbread ROM (R3VELATION). With light to moderate use I get about a day of life, and if I took further steps I could even get more out of my battery than that.
EDIT: Whoops, you're the same poster as here, so it looks like the new larger capacity battery has solved your battery problems. I'll just leave this post up here anyway since it might help others.

Bought the two pack of 1800 batteries from Anker at Amazon. they work drivers. I no longer have my phone plugged in as I can just charge all of the batteries using their awesome wall charger and such one in when a battery dies.

Came in here to ask the same question about aftermarket batteries...was thinking about buying the OEM one off ATT site for $30 because I don't see an official aftermarket battery and i'm not sure I want to buy a $10 aftermarket off of amazon or ebay because of stories I hear about cheap China made batteries exploding or damaging the phone in some way

The description doesn't say so but all the reviews say it comes with an OEM battery along with the charger...great deal for $30 in my opinion if it is all OEM
The thing I've read about these batteries is they don't have a shelf life. Meaning as soon as they are made they start to depreciate. Then they sell the old ones on e bay, amazon at reduced prices as they don't last as long as a freshly hot off the press battery.
I have never had any luck in buying a extra mha rating battery, having it last an extra long time. I got Chinese 2500mah it don't last that long, and then I went and got a high capacity gold 2430mah it only last as long as a 1750mah , rather I have no idea how long normal is, as I got my infuse at a pawn shop used, battery last about 5-6 hours, normal usage, but what is normal? What is the basis of comparison? I mostly use it for movies, and wifi and, angry birds which eat my battery up.
My theory is the more you pay the younger they are, a 4 dollar batter last less then a 10th dollar battery. But I don't have the monies to buy every battery in all the price ranges to test and do all that techy stuff. To me it is just a grip shoot. Hit or miss.

All batteries age during use.
Aging factors are temperature and also voltage.
I think temperature is well known but I don't hear as many people talk about voltage.
Charging your phone to 100% and leaving it on the charger encourages aging.
Some of the cheapo's are not as resistant to aging as the stock batteries. Common story is they work fine for the first day or two and then start to noticeably lose capacity. I noticed that when I tried out the Fujei battery.
Adding to the whole mess as you alluded... evaluating battery life quantitatively is not an easy deal. My usage varies every day.
I get a rough feeling when my battery life is fading but it's subtle.
Battery Monitor Widget has a feature where it estimates your actual 100% battery capacity in milli-Amp-hours (1750 = factory spec but actual will be different and will decrease over time as the battery ages). I think that if you use BMW and allow your phone an uninterrupted charge from low voltage like 20% up to 100% (without using the phone during that period), then it will develop a pretty good estimate of your battery 100% milli-amp-hour capacity (because our phone does have a charging current monitor which BMW accesses, but it does not have a battery discharge current monitor). That's a lot of work, but probably not a bad thing to do once a month to keep track of your capacity so you'd see a trend like 1750 one month, 1700 the next month, etc. I might start doing that some day..
3500mAh Battery
It's been a week, and my battery life is going UP. I plugged in today, and at 1931 hrs today, I still had 61% of my battery life left. I have not had any appreciable decline in battery life, nor reduction in longivity. With the stock battery, my phone is completely dead by 1715. I unplug daily at 0800. My battery life has easily doubled by purchasing a no-name battery from an Ebay seller. I'm quite impressed with it, and I spent $80 on an extended battery when I had my TP2.
Has anyone try those 2500 mah batteries from ebay? I am interest in buying those since they are only 4 USD each. What do you guys think?
when i bought my sensation a year and half ago i bought 2 extra batteries and i was swapping between them and the original one every now and then. but 3 weeks ago i noticed that the extra batteries dont last at all and it would be 100% yet shuts when making a call and now the original battery is doing the same thing. I flashed a new ROM but the problem is still the same so any suggestions? did i screw the 3 batteries and need to buy new one ???????
if i have to buy a new one then any suggestions on the extended batteries will be much appreciated.

If your looking for a good extended battery two particular batteries come to mind. Anker and Mugen. I have tried both. I'm currently using Mugen 3800mah.if that's too much juice for you, go with Anker. Anker will give you good extended battery. I went with Mugen because I'm a heavy user and this battery lasts for two days! The only draw back with mugen is it does make your phone thicker and they provide the extra back cover. For me it didn't matter because I was after the incredible battery life. It really is a amazing battery. Another problem with mugen is it's expensive. But for me it was worth the battery life I get out of it. Most people choose Anker because it's 1/3 the cost. It all depends on what you want. Anker was a great extended battery, I just needed a longer lasting battery so I went with Mugen. It's probably best you start with Anker and see how that works for you. Most people are very happy with it. I believe you can get it off Amazon for under 20 dollars. I think you will be very happy with it. If you want more juice try mugen. But I think Anker will work well for you. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Considering it started happening with all three batteries, it might be the contacts in the phone. I know mine used to shut off, but I fixed it (I think, haven't had it shut off suddenly for a couple of weeks) by placing a piece of paper on the top (not the side with the contacts) and putting a piece of tape over it. This will keep the battery in place, and push it against the contacts. If this doesn't work, it might be the batteries. If so, I'd follow Realsis's advice and buy an Anker (I have one) or even Mugen, if you can spare the money.
I've connected ZeroLemon about making a case for this phone. I know not everyone needs extended battery or likes bulky but I've used it on 3 post phones and love the extra weight and 3 days of battery life heavy use without charge. Is anyone else here interested in a ZeroLemon battery case for this phone?

I have had one on a past phone at the time battery time sucked but now batteries can go so much farther. The only thing i really don't like about them is the bulkiness if they can find a way to slim it down a little i would definitely be in.
I had one on my G4 as well. Very interested and hoping its 10000mah.

Got my 9300 mah note 2 in hand so I obviously don't mind the extra bulk! I love that I never have to think about charging or running out of battery.
If zerolemon comes out with an extended battery for this phone it will definitely make my purchase decision easier!

One pro for using multiple "regular" batteries is that I would actually be able to use cases again. I've been using the plain black zerolemon tpu on my Note 2 for years and it would be nice to use regular cases again.
However, I would definitely still like to have a zerolemon for the V10. I'd definitely use it any time I went out of town!

Fast chargers. Spare normal sized battery + cradle. Wireless if you're lazy. You really don't need anything else. I'd never want that much bulk and weight when I could just plug the damn phone in for 30 minutes or when I goto bed anyway, lol.

Sounds like this is not a product for you. Some people however want this and Zerolemon should capitalize on this. Having extended battery is really convenient. Also a lot of people don't give a damn bulk
I love my Note 2 jumbo brick. Still trying to get used to pinching my fingers / hand on this skinny thing.
I am currently driving (riding) home from a weekend road trip to the mountains for hiking and fall color pictures. Just 1 week ago I got home from 10 days in Hawaii where I was hours at a time without a charger.
In December I'll be on another trip that will have me away from charging sources (star wars marathon and Disney's Hollywood Studios special opening night event)
Extended batteries were made for me.
I hope to get by with 2 + batteries and tell myself the pro will be getting to use "normal" cases.
Unless you have gotten used to and used an extended battery for an extended period of time you probably won't understand.
My phone use is nothing like people with "regular" batteries.
I am no longer used to making sure things are turned off. I don't have to worry about screen brightness (although to be honest I used auto brightness 90% of the time on my Note 2)
I stream music (sometimes YouTube), take a ton of pictures, make long phone calls, use navigation and never use Wi-Fi because my T-Mobile LTE is way faster than my home Wi-Fi and I have unlimited data.
I never had to worry about battery.
I like it that way.
Today, I had to conserve and I didn't like it and I still ran out and am currently plugged into a very large external charger. (surprise! The fuse is blown in the cigarette lighter and can't plug in!)
What I'm trying to say is...just because you don't have a need or see a need for something doesn't mean that there is no need for it.
There is a time and a place and when I go out of town again I hope an extended battery will be available to take with me!

That's pretty much what I was plugged into last night. My husband has a multi function external battery (charges just about anything even jump start a car)
Still means I have to carry around something extra.
We'll see. If Zerolemon makes an extended battery I'll buy it for trips.
For day to day use I'll try the extra oem battery route.
If Zerolemon doesn't make an extended battery i will definitely pick up my own external. Hopefully something capable of quick charging. That is one feature that the battery I was using last night definitely doesn't have!

I'm pretty sure I mentioned this isn't for everyone. But ZeroLemon has great business because there are people that love the product including extra weight and bulk. Now if you're done showing off, you can pat yourself on the back and leave. Sorry that not every one can agree with your point of view

I had one for my G3 and it was great. I probably only had it on for a month total, so just going with an external may have been a better use of money, but it was so darn convenient. Not having to charge/carry multiple devices was really nice.
The times I used it most was on a few international trips and long days by the river for crew regattas. It was great for the vacations, paired with the really slow free international data from TMo and tethered to my GFs iphone, she could imessage (I think that's what it's called) and what not and have no extra fees.

I would be very surprised if someone doesn't make an extended or at least external battery pack. If not Zerolemon, there are numerous others. Being that this has removable battery I suspect sooner rather than later
I've used a zerolemon extended battery on two phones now (both samsungs) and loved it. I'm a heavy user, and have never been able to make it a day on a normal battery. I listen to music all day from my phone, in a building that has very poor service (i.e. huge battery drain always searching for service). I'm always moving around as well, so would rather not have to remember to unplug from charger. It just makes things a whole heck of a lot easier not to have to worry about battery life throughout the day.
I'm a battery swapper. Especially now that my Note 3's battery are dirt cheap, $8 OEM on Amazon. I buy them by the dozen. LOL.
End of the day, I come home put in a new battery, put the old one on the wall charger. Leave the phone on all night connected to wifi. In the morning I take the battery off the charger and put it on the bottom of the stack of already charged batteries I have. Take a spare with me, fits in my Belroy credit card wallet or the little front pocket of my jeans. All my settings are on full blast, I don't worry about battery life because in 10 seconds I'm back at 100%. And I get better performance out of each battery since its not getting used two days in a row.
