Missing Smileys on ICS - HTC Desire S

Due to lack of posts i can't post this on the development forum, but maybe someone can help. Installed latest Fallout rom with Sense 4 and ICS but notice on the google talk app, which i use a lot, i can no longer add smileys to messages, or use smileys (emoticons) anywhere to be honest. Used to hit menu and option to insert smiley was there on sense 3.5, but no longer on sense 4. How do i do that, I need the smileys. Can't see a button anywhere.

Guess no-one knows the answer to this. On ICS, go to google chat, and see if there is a smiley list? Used to be on sense 3.5, not on sense 4, yet there should be. Yes you can enter smileys manually, or some are on the onscreen keyboard, but there used to be a list, so you can see them, see what they are rather than symbols. On reading google chat help, that option should still be there.
Any help would be appreciated

I don't have the list in GTalk either. It's a little frustrating, because I love using smileys to express myself, but I love Sense 4 too much to go back to Sense 3.5.
The list of smileys shows in the messaging app, however.

It's quite frustrating, not sure if its a sense 4 issue or intentionally missing from GTalk. Had to go back to sense 3.5 as i miss those smileys and use Gtalk all the time

Couple of questions on the Wing - - Need an answer asap

Hey guys first of all let me say that I love the wing. I already installed TotalCommander, Battery Status, Overclock, and a couple of other useful programs.
I have been viewing several different forums for Themes / Layouts. I installed a 6 button homescreen, a 5 button homescreen, and even the I-Phone theme. All of them installed and were operating, however, the 5 / 6 button layouts were buggy and never shifted screens once I opened up the keyboard. The Iphone theme was cool but only stretched to about 75 % of the wing's screen.
Anyways does anyone have a theme that works well and has easy access to contacts, SMS, email, weather, and other useful options without being buggy and will shift once I slide out a keyboard? Most of all does it look good? I installed that black HTC layout and its pretty cool but it doesn't add any buttons to the home screen which is what I see everyone running.
Another question I have is does anyone know of a good way to stop the Wing from dialing when its holstered? I made like 5 accidental calls yesterday and it was eating away at my minutes lol. I've heard autolock is a good option but it takes away a lot of memory and slows the wing down.
Also feel free to post any cool extra addons that you might know about !
well, since your questions are more about ppcs than the wing, i can help you
you can lock your phone with Device Lock, its on this forum, use search
It allows you to lock your phone wiht a push of a button so you dont make any calls you dont want. And even allows it to lock on wake and run a program if you want, i got it to run Oxios Hibernate, it frees up ram
As far as themes, the iphone theme is one of the only full fledged themes for these types of phones, if you want something else, check out plugins, the HTC Home Plug is a start, it has tabs and easy links to favorite ppl, programs, weather, and messaging, missed calls, and emails

[Q] Looking for HTC keyboard! (T9)

I've searched throughout XDA and can't seem to find a keyboard that I can install that brings back my beloved T9! Searching the market brings up little as well.
I just recently got CM6.1 + Kernel #43 (+ various other things) but before this i was still using MoDaCo's 1.5 ROM and although I love [almost] EVERYTHING about CM6 - I can't find a way to get the dial-pad keyboard with T9 for texting. I'm assuming it doesn't exist.
I just want to know what keyboard is good and simple and includes a T9 dialpad-style keyboard for portrait view. Preferably free... but not required.
Some keyboards I've heard of, but no verification of T9:
Smart Keyboard Pro
Swift Key
SWYPE

THANKYOU!
This is fantastic!
EXACTLY what I was looking for. I can type extremely fast now (even in the car... shhhh) and at first, I was glad to have to T9 back but the keyboard itself looked a bit goofy. Then I saw the 'AOSP generic look'; it is perfect.
Thanks so much!
Follow up
Ok - I had to follow up on this again after using the keyboard for a few days. I don't think I did it much justice.
This keyboard is incredible. Not only is it simple looking (although you can apply other themes if you wish), the customizability (is that a word?) is insane. I spent forever just going through and playing with all the settings. Sometime it takes a while since you have to kill the keyboard and wait a second for it to come back in a typing app to test it, then go back to the settings menu, tweak, rinse & repeat.
I was thrilled to see that there are custom smiles because when I do use the smilies, which isn't often, I don't like them to have the 'dash' noses (ex. ) I prefer the simple but maybe I'm just really picky. Having the customizable smilies is awesome. You could even just replace them with anything you use often. One downside however is if you add too many, they'll just run off the screen and you'll not have access to them.
The custom swipes is a nice feature as well. When you swipe along the keyboard in one of four directions, you can assign custom functions. I have my 'swipe-up' set to 'Shift' so I can get capital letters quickly. I know it doesn't seem quicker than pressing the shift key but it is for me. It just feels more natural too when I'm texting or emailing. You can even set a swipe to change languages , I think this would make multi linqual people very satisfied. Type BOOM Tipo BOOM 类型 BOOM Тип.
There are many other settings including the organization of buttons, word prediction and spelling settings, and much more. You can even save and restore settings!
Best of all... it's FREE!
Edit: Thanks again!

Ok, well so long as it works then
So the wife can't live without her stock HTC keyboard. I'm going to flash AOSP's CM7 build for her, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a plain old stock HTC ime that will work with GB and specifically this ROM? Thanks.

Text Selection Using Froyo and Swype

This might be old news but just chose to share anyway
I have an evo with a novatec screen, love using a custom kernel, and also really like sense and perfectly working 4g. so ginderbread really wouldn't play nice with me. The one thing I wanted on gingerbread was the keyboard and more importantly the text selecting.
Just found out that we have all had this feature this whole time with froyo.... At least with swype.
See photos below
While texting or typing you swype the button with the hand and finger in it from left to right(to the SYM) button to pull up the selection keyboard with a dpad
See screenshot below
Also when in the browser hold down the menu key this would bring up the keyboard then bring up the selection keyboard to jump thru the links
Once again I am sure this is old news but hopes this helps anyone that didn't know this and were having issues placing the text cursor before the first letter on a text message or notepad
Old news, yes but your intent was pure so I bestow you with a thanks
Edit: your first one apparently lol.
yeah man I really don't post much, was much more involved in discussion with old winmo devices then deployed switched to sonyericssons for 2 years forgot my account info the set up a new one after i came back... this website has come a long way tho.

[Q] Something between Sense and ICS

I have been playing around with some of the custom ROM's recently and I am very impressed with the work the dev's have put in. Some really nice ROM's out there. But I have a few questions that don't fit in anywhere else (I think).
Quite a few of the ROM's are based on either AOSP with a custom launcher that closely resemble the AOSP launcher. Why are we not using the AOSP launcher? Is there something I am missing?
Or they're based on Sense, and quite frankly I have a love/hate relationship with it. Mostly it's app drawer / menu. It scrolls in pages instead of rows, has two unneeded buttons on the bottom (recently launched and something else, I can't remember now)
Here's what I would like to see as a combination of the two launchers.
The ICS drawer, but with the Sense list of toggles.
The ICS homescreen with the Sense widgets. (Gotta love that weather widget )
And the ICS app drawer, missing the somewhat redundant widget list (seriously, who wants the clutter? More to the point, do you add widgets so often that the long press, add widget from a list is too time consuming?)
I guess an amalgamation of the two, could it be done?
There also seems to be some inconsistencies with the settings menu, some ROM's have different settings and the HTC one includes settings only seen from HTC (wifi settings like the O/P power) Can these be included in AOSP/ICS builds or is this going to be Sense based only?
And on a final note, can I run Sense based apps like Camera, Music and Settings on an AOSP/ICS build? What HTC apps are likely to screw with an ICS ROM? I guess I want HTC apps on ICS, the UI inconsistencies that are apparent don't bother me that much, but it's a shame HTC seem to be deviating somewhat to the ICS interface guidelines (making the menu item lists huge and not having a 'back' icon in the top left corner on some of their apps).
Could it be that either the community need to work on improving HTC apps, making them more ICS like or is it a case of waiting to see what HTC release?
I know it sounds like I am picking fault and wanting something for nothing, but this is not the case. I just want a fast, snappy ROM that fits perfectly and we are nearly there, just some of the UI elements need work. I want us to raise the bar when it comes to UI design and fluidity, and user input like this is the only way the chef's/dev's know.
I would contribute on this but I have tried decompiling apps before and get lost/stuck with what I should do. I would be completely clueless as to how to integrate HTC widgets with AOSP launcher, but I know some of you guys know exactly what to do.
Just my input on the future of ROM cooking

[Q] Emaill theme problem [Rom] J'Beans' - Build 8 [01/02/13]

I've been having a problem with the stock email application on my Verizon S3, running a Jellybean ROM from the forums. The program, email 4.0 is installed as part of the Jellybean ROM in the subject line. I've tried to get this resolved on the Development Forum, but because of chatter of late, the thread had been closed. Wondering if anyone can help.
The screen is hard to read, not the messages themselves but the listing of items in the inbox? It's like a gray on black.
I was told on the forum that there is a "Use dark theme" in the general settings that would fix it, but I checked all over both in the general settings, and in the application, and there is no such thing.
On the home screen, when you press the left men button on of the selections is Theme. So I went into that selection, and there is just one default theme, which is selected. It says that it's the Apex default theme. Could it be that the theme I have as an Apex use isn't what others have? If so, is there another theme I can download?
That is a screenshot of your email app.....
