Best ics rom and kernal - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am not new to xda, nor tweaking android devices. I have a nook tablet that I have customized the crap out of it. I am planning on getting a transformer next week and would like to hear people's opinions concerning the amount of roms and kernels out there. I have been reading good things about geuvors kernel and will probably use that as well as thing o dooms peri to root.
So please help me out in picking the right rom and kernel.
Thanks in advance

Revolver 4 pretty well rocks, especially with Guevor's kernels.

I recommend Megatron or AOKP for a aosp look and feel, and
Revolver or ARHD if you like stock look. From there it's all up too your preferences.
Let me know how PERI works out for you.

I've been considering megatron as it is suposed to be a mod of cm9, which I love. Correct? What would be a good kernel to pair with that? Ive heard good things about guevors test kernel, but I was reading about testmeh by misticninja and it seems like it should be really fast and stable too. Any suggestions in these or other kernels?
Thanks

Also, what sort of plugins are available from revolver parts? Sorry it that's a dumb question. The nook was my first Android device and while I've done a lot to it, the restrictioons of the device has limited the number of roms available right now.

Megatron has modded cm9.
Revolver parts is themes and addons for Gnu's revolver rom.

Thanks for the feedback. Ill probably try a bunch of then out to see what I like the best. What about a kernel? Is there any that you would recommend? Any that I should avoid? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, I just want to try and get the best experience out of my transformer.
Thanks

Guevor's kernels are good and he is constantly updating them right now. For Megatron you'll have to get them from a link in the Megatron thread as some changes are made to Guevor's to get wifi to work on Megatron. Can use Guevor's as is on most other non-cm9 ROMs.

Depending on how you use your TF my favourites are:
Frozn or Gummy for me.
If you have RR or SOD issues then stick with your Cm9/Aokp/Aosp with a suitable Guevor kernel.
I done vids of some of the builds (link in my sig) but i will be updating the following over the next couple weeks: Frozn (if JC gets an update out b4 vacation)
Megatron (will be new)
ARHD (will be new) (screen tare was a killer for me)

[Q] upgraded to a G2x expecting awesomness? =]

I am just posting this because i recently came from a Mytouch 4g. I got sick of HTC sense so now im going pure stock android. Just posting this because i know nothing about roms and such for this phone. Just wondering if someone could help me out which rom i should use, kernels, tricks, etc.... any help is appreciated and thanks in advance!
Hello and welcome. Like I tell all newcomers to the G2x, this phone has its bugs, but with the right combination of rom and kernel, this thing can be a beauty. I personally am using a pre-rooted stock OTA GB along with faux123 0.1.3 kernel. However, all phones are different and so are users, so you will have to experiment to find out what works best for you and your phone. Have fun.

Thanks for info. as soon as my G2x comes in the mail i will be trying various roms and kernels to find out whats right for me.
Nice =)
I'm running the stock ROM and I love this phone! There are bugs but for raw performance and features this phone is awesome. It also helps that I paid nothing for it!

awesome!
Also how do you get that google banner under your name?
Well CM7 is always a good bet. Ive had great experiences with Weapon rom which is a more stock LG rom with tweaks.
MIUI is also working awesome. Im using 0.8.19 MIUI from the rom forum.
You'll need to NVFlash first which only takes a second. This installs a good clockworkmod recovery.
Then just download roms to SD and flash away.
No root required to start flashing. All custom roms have root access.
LG G2x - 2.3.5 MIUI Love
Asus TF - Custom 3.2

I had a friend make the banner for me, and he doesn't like other people using his work without his permission. But if you're trying to get your own banner, you just need to edit your signature, and insert the image.
My personal reviews:
CM Nexus 2.3.5: great rom, close to stock
Eaglesblood: lots of features
CM7: not for me, felt laggy
OMGB: fast and speedy, really close to stock with some nice features, but couldn't get data to work
Weapon: couldn't get data to work on my phone, I view it as Eaglesblood
MIUI: great, fast. ran into problems with battery life. Must of been the kernel.
Xboarder's Stock 2.3.3 rom: The current rom i'm using, quick, fast, and the closest to stock you're gonna get.
Hope this helps
Weapon G2X with faux's kernel is the best in my opinion. I'm getting 10+ hrs of battery even at 1.4 GHZ

New like you
I got my G2x in November and like you never messed with any ROM's or Kernels, basically never had a phone worth rooting so I never bothered to learn anything about it. Once I read the beginners guide on installing NVflash and CWM, I began flashing like crazy. I really liked CM7 and I am anxiously awaiting CM9. I got the fastest benchmark test with Eaglesblood and an OC kernal, but I just flashed this-
RG2x-MIUI v1.12.23 and so far I love it. I've never used MIUI before and so far it has been extremely smooth and looks awesome. This has the faux kernel built in and the benchmark test was almost as good as Eaglesblood. I did flash the CM7 camera and the Bravia hack and now the camera works as good as the stock GB one. However I don't think Wifi calling works. Hope that helps, I know you'll have fun like I did flashing all the different flavors out there!
Im using Eaglesblood with Faux123 0.4.7. Its really smooth no lag. Ive tried others but i always seem to come back to this one
I'm running weapon 3 with faux123 0.1.3 kernel at 1.4ghz and it runs great its fast and smooth and I get great battery life. I have also used miui and its a great rom as well.

1st Do a search this has been disgussed
2nd Everyones opinion will be different
My personal advice is if you want very very stable go Prime
If you want in between speed stability and battery go Revolver
If you want speed and great battery and dont mind waiting for a few fixes Krakd is definantly an up and coming rom to watch

+1 on that Danzano
Wait for an ICS ROM. I think coming from a phone ROM, the biggest thing you'll notice is nothing...
Honeycomb is Honeycomb. There's no source. You just won't see the diversity in ROMs that you see on phones. The difference between a Sense ROM, and Cyanogen is night and day.
That said, I like Gnufabio's Revolover, because of the Revolver Parts app. Switching Kernels, themes, boot animations, apps from other tablets. Definitely the way to go IMO.
Best way to root? Dude, look in the Dev section.

If you're just getting it and its new, the only option would be razorclaw. If the serial number
starts with B70, B80 or B90xxxxx, razorclaw probably. If lower, you have more options. Lots of reading on the subject will tell you what you need to know. I use root toolkit v7.1 and its great. As for roms, depends on preferance.

Again, in the development forum, I have only used the Tiamat ROMs but I'm sure others are good. Tiamat (now Team Eos) seem to be the main dev team for the Xoom so I stick with their releases but feel free to play... that's what it's all about after all

Team Tiamat is the only Xoom rom developer for Honeycomb OS, but Tiamat and Team Rogue also have developed several good custom kernels.
If you take your time and pay attention, you can flash as many roms or kernels and other mods as you like.
Just keep in mind that you will have to perform a data wipe/factory reset each time you change your rom, unless you are explicitly told that it's not needed.

I've only ever used Tiamat ROMs on my Xoom. IMHO the others were just glorified themes. I consider the current EOS nightlies to be my daily driver now. Its just so much faster than honeycomb. On a side note, I just got a Galaxy Nexus and the development forums for it are 10 times more active than the Xoom forums ever were. As both are Google Experience Devices, I had expected the development on the Xoom to be more diverse and robust, but unfortunately its not. At the end of the day, its no BFD. My Xoom does everything I could ask for with the likes of BRD and Solarnz here at XDA.

For what its worth, I'm just over 2 days on a single charge with the ICS nightlies.
Roms
EOS wingray is the best one ive found. Ive been running it for several weeks now. very stable.

Finally ready.

Hey guys.
I'm finally ready to root and customize my transformer. Even installed windows in my Mac to make it easier haha.
Got a few questions though.
First, I'm on 9.2.1.21 so from what I understand I need to downgrade. What's the easiest method to do this?
Next is I'm looking for the most clear, quick, not bloated from available. I'm guessing I would want a AOSP ICS rom but is there any that stand out as the best? I misty use the tablet to surf the net and other basic functions. But I need something reliable because I sometimes take notes in class with it so I don't want something constantly crashing,
And lastly with whatever from you guys recommend what would be the best kernal to over clock with?
Thanks alot for the help can't wait to make this baby fly.

You could use wolfs downgrade and flash method over here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622628
And for an rom aokp from sportstar or megatron 4.0.4 from ricardovp probably do the trick for you ! good luck with it!
You don't have to downgrade if you follow method 3 from the link on the previous post, that's how I gained root.
Alan
As for Overclock kernel use Guevor's Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565519&page=151
Look in the last few pages for 20.1 Version 6
If you're looking for a good ROM I would HIGHLY recommend the Megatron ROM by ricardopvz. Has been very good, I'm overclocked using this and guevor's v20.1 kernel I believe and it has been uber-stable for me.

[Q] Performance / Kernels / CM10 vs Stock Roms

Hey All! I feel very lucky to have received a TF300T (with dock) for Christmas, it's a wonderful device and I have been having a lot of fun with it. I'm pretty familiar with Android devices in general, and have enjoyed rooting / romming / overclocking and otherwise tweaking my devices to various degrees to get the best combination of performance and stability out of them.
So my first step with the TF300 out of the box was to set it to charge and browse xda/rootzwiki/etc and read up on the device. Once it was charged I went to work unlocking the bootloader, installing CWR, root, CM10. This all went off fairly smooth after realizing I had to do the OTA update to JB so the boot partition would be resized correctly to support CM10.
All that nonsense aside, I am now happily running rooted CM10 on my TF300 but I have a few questions I was hoping the community could help me out with.
1. NVFlash. Seems like an awesome failsafe, is it really possible to brick your tablet that bad that fastboot isn't available? how does that happen? is it worth (possible?) attempting to backrev my device to an ICS build so that I can create my NVFlash files?
2. Stock vs CM? have any of you tried both? which roms appear to perform the best? I ask because I notice there aren't really any custom Kernels that I've found that will work for CM? only for stock, and CM tops out the OC at 1.3 where others top at 1.6-1.8 and I have noticed some sluggishness here and there.
3. NVidia specific tweaks. I noticed a few build.prop tweaks in a post in development, are there any other NVidia specific tweaks that can be done to eek out the last drop of performance for gaming and such?
Any other tips, tweaks, or tricks you have used or recommend would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I would recommend using TWRP for recovery. Many have had issues with CWM, including me.
As for stock or CM, I'm running Paranoid Android v2.54. It is based on CM 10. I love it because of all the extra options. There is also a modified Unter kernel in the PA thread that allows overclocking up to 1.7GHz.
It is one of the most stable ROMs available. Since flashing, I have had no issues except for GPS. There is a fix but it must be applied after each reboot.
There is a newer version of PA but it is still a beta.

You're welcome. I just wanted to add that I also have a dock and it works great with the ROM. Several of the other custom ROMs have issues with the dock.
