Hello everyone
My Diamond really needs a new housing and digitizer.. I have replaced screens and other stuff on other HTC phones many times (Universal, Prophet, S710 and so on) but what i havent tried before is replacing a digitizer. If i understand correctly isnt the digitizer the sort of small panel over the LCD screen that is used for the Touch to worK?
Im just worried that its too tricky for me to replace that. Anyone that has tried this before and can tell me if its difficult ?

Hello,
unfortunately my prophet did't like the way I fell on him and the screen crashed.. I think, that it's only the touchscreen (if I turn the prophet on, I can see all clearly).
Can someone explain me, who to replace the touchscreen (I could bye one for about 8$ at ebay)? ..Or can you give me a good adress, where I can get it fixed (in Germany..)?
Thanks for help, Dirk
Hi.
First of all, you need to buy a new Touch Screen :
http://cnn.cn/shop/dopod-818828838838pro-touch-screen-p-1292.html
After having removed the 4 screws, I advise you to use a card (e.g. credit card) to slip it along the parts to be removed. It is necessary that you pay attention to the 'Speaker buzzer' which has a very small wire.... be careful not to tear it off !
You can have a look here : http://www.bess.free.fr/qtek9100.pdf
Good Luck. I've done it you can can do it... it is difficult to weld the new screnn !!
Bap
Alright.. thank you, I hope I can do it..
Do I need all the tools? ..where can I get them from?
The LCD is one unit, isn't it? How easy is it to separate the touchscreen from it?
The Prophet is about the same?!
Greets, Dirk
HI.
1/ The Prophet is quite the same
2/ you don't need all the stuff but, you will need a plastic card and the good screw driver (T6)
I think you've broken just the LCD Touch part and not the light background thing so you will have to separate the two parts and changed the LCD Touch screen
Let me know how is it goin'. GD luck,
Bap

Hi
Was it difficult to change? I've had a look at the service manual and it doesn't look too difficult?
It's not very difficult, however if you've never taken apart a mobile you might be in over your head. It's especially weird since it is a slider.
I have already tried taking mine apart just so I could see how it all goes... Its pretty simple really... Just waiting for my housing now

Any tips?
Hi all. I have a problem after I change the housing, the lcd doesn't work, simply no image. others no problem. Plz help me..
Spare Parts?
Question here,
My wife's Vox died, (not reading SIM and screen keeps going black), Is it worth trying to fix or should I just part it out? Having it repaired is almost as much as a new one.
Does anyone know where I can get another one at a fairly cheap price?
If anyone is interested in parts PM me.

im having the same problem anyone have a solution?
The flex cable isn't seated properly? Make sure it clicks in and does not come out when you slide the QWERTY out.

i've taken the phone apart 3-4 times, double and triple checking all the connections. i dont know it its the lcd or just the flex cable.
I had the same problem. But I think h4waii is right. When I redid the thing it worked. And, by the way I was told by HTC service people in Delhi that the LCD would have to be replaced for the problem.
thats not the answer i was looking for but oh well. thanks for all the replies!! anyone know where i can find a cheap lcd??
Hello Friends,
yesterday when i saw the screen of my xda exec i saw a big black spot on the centre of the screen, not sure how it happened. i can still make calls from the phone.
but now i want to figure out whether i'll need to replace touchscreen or the LCD or both but i dont know how to figure out which one is broken.
Any help will be really appreciated on this.
Ashwani
Chances are
if the touch capability is intact, it's your LCD. The opposite, where the screen looks fine, but the touch is gone, would be your digitizer. However, unless you know how to replace a digitizer, I recommend getting both, LCD and a digitizer in one unit, rather than attempt to assemble the screen yourself. Which, judging by your question, is likely to be the case.

I would only iterate what enigma1nz had to say . It's at least your LCD at fault, but buy both as one unit. Or, buy a Uni that guarantees a working LCD+Touch pad (ie, a Uni with only a broken broken mobo/usb/doesn't boot etc) from eBay or the like.
First of all, I would just take the screen part of the Uni apart and check all is tight when replacing, as if the LCD has no obvious cracks, it's very likely a rubber-strip contact or similar.
NB. If anyone is interested in purchasing a fully-working Uni (brand new casing), with a non-functional touch/digitizer (guaranteed working everything else incl. LCD), I'm about to put on eBay. (PM me)
Hello...I have an HTC Hd2 ,but the touchscreen doesn't work...Yesterday the display works fine but now, after i disassemblyed the phone, the screen is black, but the LED-s are lighting. In some positions ,LCD works fine...
My HTC has the touchscreen with soldering version
The question is: the soldering of touchscren, can affect the LCD? If the touchscreen is missing,LCD is working?
Sorry for my english! Thank you so much!

1-YES, AFFECT LCD of course
2-maybe... it depends, they has an independent connections
3-WTF?¿?¿?why you dismount your device??????its possible that you crashed the electronic contacts....(OMG)
I cleaned the digitizer contacts and lcd contacts and for 5 minutes it's work perfectly...
I hope LCD is not broken,or his flex cable...
If the touchscreen doesen'twork, should i buy a new one? Or it's another problem?
Thanks

lcd goes with the touchscreen by default......(50-60euros more or less)...
why you don´t try to disasemble it agin and scroll the problem?you don´t loose anything...
I will go to a GSM service and i will say to service man to disassembly the phone and to clean the contacts, and to say what is the problem!
I hope LCD is not broken ...only digitizer.
Digitizer can be responsable for black screen?
I want more opinions...
I repeat...Digitizer can make LCD Black? LCD is black but the led's are working
Thank's.
I'm new here and apologize for my english.
From the beginning then.I had my hd2 for about 2 months.I didn't like the sound loudness so taught i replace the loudspeaker. After putting it together digitizer didn't work.I noticed a very small crack in the digitizer so i taught that is the problem but wasn't sure and am still not cause i have seen digitizers with many cracks and still working.I ordered a new digitizer it wasn't the same that i had before cause this one has a T-Mobile logo on it but the connector is the same and it still doesn't work.
So, my questions are:
1)can it be that it's not digitizers problem?
2)Is there any difference what digitizer i use (with or without the T-mobile logo)?
I really don't want to waste anymore money on it (cause these digitizers are not cheap and i want to be sure) but i really want to fix it.Using Desire now but really miss my HD2 (except battery performance)
NB: I have looked around and found similar posts. But maybe someone has had same problem and can ensure this.
