[Q] How could I get system app from firmware? - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Is there any way for me to extract system apps from firmware, like file manager, and install it or use it as usual apk?

Try titanium back up. Back up your fw, install any desired system app on another compatible fw using restore...
Did it a couple of times for music app & calculator..

Just extract the ROM's tar file using 7-zip etc. then use MagicISO to extract the System.rfs file. You'll find all the system apps in app folder.

I tried that, but when I installing application on device I see: "App is not installed"

You'll have to make it a system app. Do it via Titanium Backup or using any File Explorer with root functionality (Set permission as rw-r--r--).

Set permissions and lib files may be necessary. Place lib files in /system/lib or something like that
Cheers

Can you run the app from your file explorer? Is it in your app drawer?

Factory reset?... Titanium backup?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
No I am unable to run the app from the file explorer and I didn't do a back up on titanium backup before doing this. I was hoping I won't have to reinstall the ROM.
Install app installer from market. Put the camera apk on you SD card. Run app installer and find camera.apk and install it. See if that works.

You may need to fix the permissions on it, too.

just redownload the rom.zip. open the zip file. go to system/app. copy the camera.apk out of it. push that (do not install) to the rom you have flashed now. and you are fine

fml.:banghead: you should always make a nandroid backup using your custom recovery before messing with system files.
do you know what recovery you have?
what version is your hboot?
when you say nothing what do you mean?
completely empty homescreens not even the app drawer?
Could he push the backup of the build prop via adb?

Yeah, original build.prop file from the original ROM
Download your rom zip, extract the build.prop. Put it on the root of your sd card. Download aroma file manager and put it on your sd card. Go in recovery, install aroma file manager, find your build.prop in system and delete it. Navigate to the sd card and find your build.prop you downloaded, and paste it where the build.prop file was deleted. Usually it's in the system directory

Nothing to worry pal.. Just get a 'update.zip' cwm flashable root file. You can search and download this file which can be used to root your device manually. Open the .zip file using an archiving app and extract superuser.apk from /system/app/ and install it. It should solve your SU problem then later convert it to a system app using link2sd or root installer. Let me know if it helped.
I did everything u said but as I don't have cwm installed I I couldn't flash the .zip file and as the SU file is deleted my phone is in non rooted status so I can't use apps requiring root access like link2sd as u mentioned above so it didn't work but thank u for responding do post with better solution

Dude... M not asking you to flash anything. Just download the .zip file, open it and extract SU from system/app/ folder in it then just install it like you would normally install other apps.

No big deal pal.. You got the .zip file right..? open the .zip file, extract 'SU' file from /system/xbin/ Cut the SU file from the directory you extracted and paste it where you deleted it. This should work. Let me know if it did.
Dude..SU binary file provides superuser access but deleted so no superuser access without superuser access it cannot be pasted in system folder...

Well..using es browser make me forget that.. Well.. then you gotta flash the update.zip try with both stock recovery and cwm(try fix permissions if there is an error) or you will need to flash stock firmwate via odin.

Default gallery app

I just realized that the default gallery app is not installed on my phone. I can't remember if I somehow uninstalled it or if it was removed after updating my phone. My Galaxy core is on stock 4.1.2 and I've rooted it. How or where can I get the default 4.1.2 gallery app;?

In system/app the .odex file was already there. However, i tried copying both files to the /app dir and they fail to copy. I also tried to simply install the app and it also fails. I'm puzzled.

You need root explorer (assuming the device is rooted). Do not install it, but copy it to /system/app, set permissions, restart phone. Everything until restarting is done in root explorer.
Strange thing happens. I've downloaded the files to my extsdcard, I copy them to system/app and I then browse the files to make sure they're there and only the odex file is present. I'm using Root File Manager.

I think the odex file was already there, just the apk was deleted.
Actually, I don't know what's wrong. Try a different root explorer/root file manager to MOVE these two files to the system/app directory. Also before that, you have to mount the system partition as R/W, not R/O. U can do that in adb (command "adb remount") or with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer&hl=lt (I'm sure there are other ways to do that, but I prefer these two).
I'll give it a try

Smart Manager

Ok in case anyone else wants to install smart manager.
From this post ( i do not take credit just sharing)
file to download. here
Unpack and put the 2 folder in system/priv-app. Set correct permissions for folders and files then reboot. (permissions= permission folders rwxr-xr-x then the apks and files rw-r-r then reboot )
The additional step we have to do being on galaxy s6 (at least what i did)
once you go into priv-app folder you will see smanager_PROVIDER....rename that folder to smanager_PROVIDE(incase for backup or issues dont delete, just rename)
then rename the 2 folder you copied into priv-app folder to smanager_PROVIDER and smanagerSDK_PROVIDER
reboot and good to go.
hope this helps
(i used root browser to make adjustments)
FINALLY .. that did it. It works. Renaming the folders did the trick. Thanks much

Anyway to do this without root?!

best guess is that you no longer have root if you took the update and why it wont work.
