[Q] Cyanogenmod music player volume problems - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have re gently flash cyanogenmod to my Xoom UK, and the music player now turns the volume up to full every time it gets to a new song, one click of the volume button and it goes back to normal. I have tried several music players, and all of them have the same effect. Is anyone else experiencing this problem and does anyone know how to solve it?

Have you messed around with DSP Manager? I remember adjusting something and at that moment, things like that started to happen in CM9

System/Music volume is stuffed in ICS stock ROM

Hi all,
Recently updated to official ICS. I like to listen to music on my HTC, and I found a major glitch. Whenever you are playing music (with the stock player), and there is another system sound (ie SMS notification), the entire media volume of the phone dies.
For example, I am listening to music and I receive a SMS. I hear the SMS and the music stops playing. I check the music app and the slider is still moving but there is no sound. After that point there is NO media volume at all! I start a game. No sound. I start a video. No sound. Youtube. No sound. Only way to fix this is restart the phone.
If I'm listening to music and I wanna play a game. I start the game and the game has its own sound. The music stops playing and the game sounds are also now gone. Only way to get any sound back is to restart.
Basically whats happening is if there ANY other non-music sound, it ends up killing the phone's Media volume. Only way to fix is restart.
Anyone else have this problem?
Running stock ICS 4.0.3 Vodafone Australia ROM.
Sounds like a fluke - cause this doesn't really happen to anyone else. Since you're stock, the way to fix most issues is to wipe your data and start from scratch. Most people who have random issues like this do that and it clears up.
Not its not a fluke. I can reproduce it even after a factory reset. It only happens with stock player not another player I downloaded from Play.
Maybe its a problem with the Vodafone ROM.

If you can reproduce the issue with a factory reset then perhaps you could try flashing your RUU and see if the issue persists. I do know that what you're describing is NOT a wide spread problem, and that means it's either isolated to your device or to VODA's build...

I meant fluke as in only happening to you, not only happening once.
Try Grogg's advice. Hell, flash his rom, music player works great in it.
Similar issue here
I'd just like to say I have a similar issue with mine. If i am listening to music and receive an SMS or email notification then the music volume increases to match that of the notification. Pressing either volume up or down then changes it one step from the original volume.
I also have another issue with the default music player. If I am listening to music at work, press pause then remove the headphones (when leaving my desk for a short while) after plugging headphones back in when I press play the sound quality is often seriously distorted. Pressing pause then play again always seems to sort this out...
I've noticed 3 or 4 little bugs with the latest (UK) release on my phone, I keep expecting another update to sort them out but so far nothing...

Q - Mp3 playback skips in custom roms

I noticed mp3 playback will skip (best way I can describe it, sort of similar to the old old cd players being bumped while playing) on custom ROMS. Happened on Miui.us v2.12.28 and Avatar 2-Feb-2013. So I rolled back to stock I727UCLF6_I727ATTLF6 and imagine my surprise that mp3s playback with no skips at all.
I'm totally lost, not even sure what to try next. I even looked at the debug monitor during playback but nothing seemed obviously unusual.
Anyone else run into this problem?

Did you flash any audio mods or anything like that when I ran miui for short period and avatar didn't have issue with mine... did you wipe dalvik and cache in music player then reboot
My audio skips in the Google Play Music 4.5.910I.560208 (latest).
But not like op's, it just like's to skip to next song when there's 30s-1:30m left of the track :S Not always but 3 out of 10 times.
No audio mods at all. Even noticed this after flashing avatar.

I have noticed if I use a different CPU govenor the skips become less frequent. I went from power save to conservative.

I've never got this but you could try poweramp and set the audio thread priority to ''Large +250ms'' under Audio>Advanced Tweak

[Q] Max Volume Stuck

I have a nexus 5 with carbon rom and my sound is stuck at max, does anyone know why? or how to fix it?
Try flashing a different rom to rule out hardware related
different rom same problem

That's weird. Sounds like it's a hardware issue. You could try returning to the stock factory image but I'm guessing you'll still have the problem.
I also have the problem that my volume got stuck at maximum. This happened after I changed volume settings in "Listen Audiobook Player". There is a slider where you can overrule the system volume to make it louder then system max. But even after I put the slider back in default position now it always stays on maximum even in other players, but not in VlC, here I can still change volume.
I contacted support of the player, the guy said that there are two different playback modes and that the VLC uses another one, so it is not affected.
I don't want to completely set up my phone again because of this.
Anybody has any idea how to solve this? It is really annoying...

[Q] Sound not working

I own a Samsung Galaxy Ace-i (s5830i)
since two days, the sound in my phone is not working.
that is, my alarms, notification sounds, media sounds, call alerts do not produce sound from the device. i tried plugging in the head phone. But it wasn't of any use.
I tried flashing Rom, but didnt help.
any one else faced similar problems?
Also, any solution for this?
have you tried pressing the volume up button several times?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes. tried that. Doesnt Help
Have you tried decreasing the volume lower than the halfway point?

OR
*#0673# AND *#0289#
What rom are you using ? Certain BCM21553 devices (my device included) have audio problems in some roms.

When you say "start working sometimes when I use soundabout"...what exactly do you mean? The speakers go in and out? It plays for a while then cuts out? Have you tried other third party apps?
Also, maybe try to remember certain apps you downloaded right before the speakers stopped working and uninstall them.
Last resort, try a factory reset. If rooted, just do a nandroid backup.
Let's hope it's not a hardware issue, like a loose wire. Is your phone still under warranty?

Are you listening to music that is on your phone? Try an online app, like Spotify or Pandora. See if the music will play for that.

Audio stuttering

Hi all, just wondered if anyone else had this issue. While playing music through google play music everything works fine, even with the screen off, however occasionally when I wake the device back up I might get a slight pause or stutter in the music playback. This can also happen if I'm switching between intensive apps while music is playing in the background. I've performed a factory reset, and it doesn't make a difference if using headphones or not.

probably nope
I'll pay attention to this in way to check if this happens on my phone too, i have the same firmware running except that I'm on B372 (latest build for BLN-L21C432).
Anyway, begin to warn Huawei through their contact form on their site. The first they're aware about this, the first they can work on it and find a fix (if it's possible).
I've noticed the same problem last week. Music stops playing pretty much every second time the screen gets turned off.
Same problem with Spotify and Soundcloud apps, however weirdly enough the default Music app works without any problems.
Any suggestions?
