Installed programs not displaying in GPlay after Root - HTC Sensation

Just want to say that I have been reading this forum for a while now and now that the ICS OTA update for the sensation came out I mustered up the balls to root it.
SO... I really hope this hasn't been asked already because I swear I searched and googled.
I followed the guide which outlined how to root using HTCDev and the AIO Toolkit. Everything went smoothly and I sat down to begin reinstalling my apps.
I opened up GPlay Store and the installed list was empty. However, if I search for an app that like Google Maps it lists it as already installed.
In the past when I have reset the phone and opened GPlay store it would tell me I need to update every piece of software. This time it didn't. Its not a huge deal because I know what apps I need to upload and which apps I will remove but I thought it was a little strange and have concerns about how it may affect the phone.
Aside from that, it works like it did before except I notice memory usage is much lower which I assume is tied to this "issue".
Is this something I should be concerned with or is this an intended result of the rooting process?
Thank You

you can try to fix the market issue by
1. delete your google account
2. clear data of playstore ---(settings->apps->all apps->play store)
3. re create your account and now check the installed apps

I accidentally found the problem.
I remembered I activated 2 step verification for my google account 2 nights ago. When I got ready do the updates I did not perform 2 step verification process because I figured I would setup my email last. Well I did all the updates I needed manually and setup my email. Soon as I did it, all the apps were instantly detected and updated.
Thank you for the quick reply in any case though.

If you dont mind I have an off-topic question.
What is the best way to remove pre-installed apps?
A. Find an app that can remove in the Play Store.
B. Remove them through Terminal.
Seems with the terminal is basically RM two files and fuggedaboutit. Is the underlying process any different or cleaner with an app?

"A" is best option as it removes the corresponding libraries of the app too if it has ( i use titanium backup for this )
Also you can just use file explorer too to remove an app (root explorer or es file explorer)

I really appreciate your assistance. You helped me find the last piece of the puzzle. I have finally been able to get rid of half the non sense t-mobile installs on this phone. Also, this place is second to none when it comes to the quality of the guides and dearth of information available.
I browsed for the thread regarding what is safe to remove but it seems to be old.
In case anyone finds this thread I was able to safely remove:
Peep
Tmobile Mall
Tmobile TV
Slacker
Tmobile Face Chat
Flickr
NOVA
TeleNav GPS
Going to do another rom backup and kill off Google+, Google+ messenger, Play Movies, and Play Music.

Let me ask you another off-topic question.
Does it give me any benefit to S-Off my phone at this point in time?
Please confirm my thoughts:
1. In the future, if I keep this phone long enough, and I want to receive an OTA update from Tmo. I need to flash back to the stock recovery? This is assuming the phone is still S-On.
OR
2. I S-Off the phone and then flash a custom rom in the future.
OR
3. If I plan to receive an OTA update and the phone is S-OFF. Then I need to return it to S-ON as well as the previous steps.

Paid Apps No Longer Available After Root.

I have an issue where my paid apps (Remote Desktop & PicSay Pro for Instance) is no longer available or found in the Apps Market. The Apps are on my phone, but when I search or try to update, they are not found.
I found this out when I put on the Fresh update and started to reload apps due to Apps2SD and I formatted my SD Card.
Any Ideas?
I havent reverted to stock yet, which I might do to figure this out.
this is just not rooted issues...it has to do with the update that htc released
it affects hero and eris owners

Will they ever get it right?
******Here's how to get around this temporarily!******
I know this isn't the best method, and some might frown upon it, but I couldn't get one of my purchased apps to show up at all in the market. This is because that publisher set copy protection to ON when publishing it. In writing the author, he said it was google's problem and that there was nothing he could do. All while he's enjoying a coffee courtesy of yours truly.
I thankfully had a nandroid backup of my modaco rom where the widget was installed, so I restored my backup (after making a backup of the fresh rom and doing the switcheroo in teh nandroid folder) and ran Astro to see if I could back it up, switch back, and restore. Much to my dismay, it said it was private. Damn.
So, what's a root user to do?
Thankfully, there's a way to restore the APK's, even if they're in a "private" status, meaning the developer doesn't want you to be able to back them up or copy the APK anywhere.
Since this info could be used to steal from developers, I'm not going to post how to do it. In my case, I cannot use an app I paid for. Not cool. Since I'm an honest person, I don't want to contribute to theft. PM me and we'll chat if necessary
Backing up App
Am I safe if I backup my
/data/app
and
/data/app-private ?
Or will I still lose my purchased apps?
Dont want to lose them!

The app-private directory should be the only one affected by this issue.
Unfortunately, I assumed I could re-download the apps from the market. I mean, after all, I did pay for them. Lesson learned.
its the same way with the free apps, there are like 9 i use on a daily basis, that i cant have now...pissed
Have the same problem as well, although I was able to download a few of my paid apps right after the update. It seems they were still available until I did my first soft reboot.
For example, I was able to re-download Album Art Grabber which cost money, but after reboot was unable to find let alone download Weatherbug Elite...
When I reinstalled the MoDaCo Rom the only app I could not get back showed up. It force closed but in my downloads in the market it is now there. It goes away if I restore to the non MoDaCo Rom. It is probl due to APP2SD, I guess it is on the SD cards ext2 partition.

Some apps no longer accessible in the market - uk

Hi folks,
I'm just wondering of there's a reason why I can't access some apps I was able to find before in the market?
Quick Settings, Launcherpro beta, Adw launcher, Zeam, etc, are nowhere to be find now...
I've got some of them on my download page on the market app and I also wonder if I can still access the updates.

Thanks for the reply. Ill try to find out.
Maybe your market access keys are incorrect because you have installed a custom rom? For example, test versions from Huawei have test keys installed that will not list all applications. You need to use proper release keys provided by carrier.
Thanks speckles, you point a different possible problem. Even if I don't have a custom rom: just a Milestone 2.1 rooted.

Well, I think that I have the proper one for I didn't changed it. Can you tell me how can I check this? (I've got still a lot to learn.)
I have been reading a little on old and similar problems, often related issues with protected app, like paid/protected app on rooted phones - and regardless to the models, countries, carriers, and maybe even to the versions.
I am not sure to be concerned, I mean it's a bit different in my case. For instance, I have Tapatalk pro installed and which is protected but I can still find it on the market (I mean outside of the download tab).
So far, my problem only concerns some free apps.
There were from long time app that I wasn't able to find on the market (like TV.com), by example when using appbrain. But now, that's the first time I can't find apps I had already downloaded and that I've got installed. (I spotted the problem while recommending apps to a friend who's got a Desire since a few days. He was himself unable to find them, like Quick settings.)
Edit --
Scanning a barcode pointing on the apps in the market do not work as well.
Some solutions points to the build.prop:
Root your phone and modify your /system/build.prop with the fingerprint of a build that actually works. Then clear all data and cache from the market and google apps, reboot, set your clock to 23:59 and wait 5 minutes to force a refresh of the data before starting the Market app. You'll have to supply your Google account details again but this should work around the problem.

Useful as well:
From MasDroid, on XDA -14th April 2010, 08:59 PM
I've read about this issue which was recently explained by a developer of XDA (nprussell).
Apparently everyone is in the same boat so to speak. He states that many "protected" apps are missing from the market. There are generally two reasons why apps will be missing from the market:
When a new ROM or handset is released, the manufacturer (i.e. HTC), sends the build to Google for verification, which includes a 'Fingerprint' (a unique line of text which governs its market access) in one of the build files. Generally, it states the name of the phone and Android version in the fingerprint. With Root & System write access, this fingerprint can be changed, but although it's been claimed that the Desire has recently been Rooted, we still don't have confirmation from any developer of it being able to gain System write access.
Only until Google approve the build, then fingerprint will be added to their allowed database to view these protected apps on the market.
The other cause for apps missing from the market in builds is because of permissions of certain apps. For example, the barcode scanner app requires permissions to use the camera/auto focus. They are NOT protected apps. If the XML permission files are missing from system/etc/permissions, then Google Market will simply block these apps from showing.
HTC need to chase Google up on this and Google need to activate the Fingerprint.

I have tried to replace my build.prop (using one from a Telus Milestone) but nothing has changed. Maybe I need to erase the market's data as told in the second quote but I'm not sure to know how to do it.
I have the same problem. (Htc desire Vodafone/the Netherlands/original ROM) There was an OTA update few days a go. After that most of the installed apps couldn't be found. It seems that this affected a lot of people...check the comments on launcherpro an adw launcher websites

If you have edited your build.props, then it can take upto 24 hours for them to be published to the market. So wait a few days.
If it still doesn't work, try Eris Market Fix after doing a nandroid backup. Again, you may have to wait about 24 hours before noticing any changes.
I think i have same problem here. Finland/HTC Desire/Stock ROM.
There should be LauncherPro in market right? Had to dl new one from LP's site.
I have got everything back and I'm still using the same build.prop. So I believe that the market had been fixed.
Hope it's the same for you!

about the app market

so i just reflashed my phone yet again trying out a new rom.
so i got it all setup, and first ting i did was goto the market to redownload all my apps. when i first opened the market, up top there were the three usual choices. apps, games, and downloads.
downlaods had listed all my apps that were previously installed, so i was like cool, no need for a nandroid backup. the only nandroid backup i have is for a 2.2 install, i didnt want to install that over a 2.1 update1 rom.
anyways, i started downloading all my apps that were listed then all the sudden the app store closed. now all i get at the top choices are apps games and sprint. theres a listing of BS apps in there, and when i push the menu key and click downloads, all thats there is what i had downloaded so far with seemingly no way to redownload the rest of the stuff that was listed.
where did my top bar downloads button go? i didnt accept an update to market or anything like that so how could it just change like that? how do i get the normal market back on my phone without the sprint crap??? sprint pisses me off some times.
sorry if this is some amatuer question, but a search of the forums didnt reveal too much to me, i dont know if this is a common "problem" (well, its a problem to me because i didnt authorize the changes to my system), or if this is just one of the quirks of android phones i am going to have to put up with.
Wrong section for this question. There is a thread in apps and theme section about this. Its an update from Sprint/Google just hit menu and choose Downloads from there.
right. but what your not getting is the list of all apps downloaded on my account dont show up once the sprint update installs. how do i prevent the update, or revert back? this is why i posted this, i need to know how to undo an update of an application, which as far as i see, this section is about apps and themes. just because i have 7 posts under my belt doesnt call for thread nazi behavior.

Auto Install All My Apps

Is there a way to force auto install all my apps from the Play Store? It would be easier to have them all install and then use an Auto Uninstaller to remove the ones I don't really want than it is to download them all one by one.
I know sometimes when you flash a new rom or something, it takes over and auto downloads them all for you right away (Cyanogen for examples does that) but the ROM I'm on now never had that prompt come up.
Thanks for the help
You can use Titanium Backup Pro. Once all your apps are backed up with it you can batch install ALL of them (all apps together with the paid version, one by one with the free). It has other features tho to use other than that but its good for batch installing apps.

yea i know about titanium but i was hoping there was a way to do it from the play store rather than from backed up apks (that way we're at the same time using the most up to date versions of each app). like the way cyanogenmod automatically downloads every app you own from the play store right away the first time you open the play store.
You can use app2zip from the play store. It put whatever apps you want into a flashable zip so you can easily flash in cwm.

All of the stock-based ROMs I've used (currently using MikTouch 0.7 based on the OTA 1.63.531.2 ROM) have done this. As soon as I sign into my Google account, it begins syncing the contacts and downloading all my apps. That's why I typically let the phone sit for about 15-20 minutes after flashing a ROM and signing in.
Well it's all good. I already have pretty much everything installed one by one. I'm using Virtuous Inquistion and it never started to sync all my old apps, but it's all good. Everythings working great. And I'll back it all up with titanium for next time around.

I don't know how I did it but I think it was something like this. You just hit back up on the normal settings and google will restore it?
I've flashed my second ROM after I hit backup and all the apps started downloading from the PlayStore after the first log in. Does anyone know how to officially do this?
I know that this can be done using ADB (don't know how to use it but I know how to use the I9300 Int Tool Kit).
Going to hold off trying app2zip until the developer emails and confirms SuperNexus and Paranoid Android 4.1.2 on Siyah 1.7 is supported..It doesn't look to stable!
:highfive:
Btw, there is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531880 if you didn't know..
I was wondering about this as well: recently wiped and flashed a stock ROM and when I launched the Play Store for the first time, it began downloading all the apps that were in my account. I tapped 'cancel' as I didn't wan't all of them right away, then I had to install them one by one.
So it would be good if you could control this behaviour - for example to be able to check which apps you want downloaded and to install them automatically, yet in a bit more controlled manner.

I came to the conclusion that I'm okay with Titanium Backup for that purpose - bought the pro license a while ago - it can batch restore what you choose. It's slower than I expected at that, but at least you can leave the phone while the job runs.
for some reason this time all my apps auto installed.
shrugs. think i need to flash again, ill backup apps jsut in case, but hopefuly itl auto install again and i can delete the backup and only backup the data, not the apps.
Best way I have found to do this is to go to Settings > Backup & reset
Once there delete the existing account that exist.....
Wait a few minutes and it'll prompt you to put a backup account in....then reenter the same account.
This will prompt google to look at all your apps you currently own and the ones on your device and if not there will download it for you.
I discovered this when I factory reset my phone and when I restarted my phone it connected to a wi-fi network that required a sign-in process and as a result google attempted to download but was unable to.
Hope this helps.
Has anyone found any solution? Cause I have Titanium backup pro but I have read that it is not the best thing to restore apks... better reinstall them (especially for battery life)... There applist apps in market but they just store the link they don't download them automatically....
And I have apps on 2 seperate google accounts so just restoring during first sign in doesn't work well
Titanium backup is great. i use it. works great for installing apk's. but if you want to do it through the app store you have to let it run right when you first have the option. if you try to to it later youll have to do them all individualy

With free license, unfortunately, yeah, that's it, but PRO allows you to batch install and restore data for a chosen amount of apps. It also allows a creation of a recovery-flashable image, which is, from my experience, the fastest to deploy, but takes a while to create.

Well I install several ROMs and I found out that sometimes the Google Play store messes up before restoring all your apps. What I do is got into setup and remove my google account and then just readd it and off it goes downloading and syncing all your apps.

I've yet to try to see what happens if I detach apps from Play Store using TB. If it would prevent Play from rushing to download all the stuff (usually 100+ apps) when I first boot up a new install, it would be nice.

Google Play v3.9.16

Hey guys. Nothing to do with me, but I felt it was worth reposting the info here - if only because you can now delete apps from your "All Apps" list at long last.

Enjoy - I've just downloaded and will try it out now.
--------------------------------------------------
Update - seems to work fine (currently on Reaper v4) and removing apps from the list works. It isn't the fastest process in the world as you only seem to be able to do each one at a time, but after a couple of minutes they then disappear from the Google Play website list as well!! I've been waiting for this feature for 18 months now - well done Google.
Just one word of warning - try not to delete any of your paid apps/games as I'm not entirely sure what the effect would be - likely that you would have to pay again if you wanted to re-install them, just like it is if you delete any of your purchased media from Google. If an app is currently installed though you can't delete it, so that should make most things safe.
--------------------------------------------------
Now that Google have proved it IS possible to allow us to remove unwanted apps from our lists, I really really hope they put this facility on the web-site some time. I've spent the best part of two hours now deleting all the cr4p I've tried-out over the last 18 months and I'm only about half way there
--------------------------------------------------
Finally :victory: Now when I go to the "My Android Apps" page I have 6 pages of "Apps installed on ..." and only 8 applications listed in the "Other apps in my library!
Now I can keep the damn thing under control - if I don't like an app I can just delete it immediately, and when I install a new ROM I can actually find the apps I need to re-install quickly and easily.
New Google Play Update
I love the new update and I also noticed deleting apps from the list one by one could take forever, I did some research and discovered if you long press the app you want to remove you can then click all the other apps you don't want and remove them at once. Awesome!

There is also a guide on the DS forums here
For me, the SABS Prime v8.5 Android Market v3.9.16 works beautifully.
However, the ICE DS v 5.3, unfortunately no new features.
