Is there a way to change the screens gamma settings on the skyrocket? I have searched on Google and can't find anything. Forgive me if this has been addressed before.

Interesting thought... Are you curious to see if the screen can be redrawn with different gamma settings to conserve battery or for other reasons?

Mostly just for looks. Cm9 on my nexus s has the settings where you can set a dark color profile and adjust the gamma setting to really make the screen pop. I use my phone so much I doubt I would get better battery life.

It does not work yet. I was just going to play with the settings. I like the cm9 settings that my nexus s has. I will post them tonight when I get home.

Anyone know of a mod or app to shut off the soft(copasative) lights on my evo? I don't need them.
Thanks,

If you are running cm7 or cm9, check out this guide for dimming the screen, just set all the button values to zero and the soft buttons won't light up anymore.

Theres a app called screen filter that lets u turn them off
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
you could always install MikG 3.11 and run Miktweaks which is built into the ROM; it has the option to disable the illumination for those buttons.

You've gone into the advanced settings and checked the adjust soft key box? Then set the frequency to always off.
You need to check lux to never be killed. Then bring up the dashboard and refresh you lux value and then the settings should stick. I've found that at night the capacitive keys turn back on though.

You can try the link button to match the settings to a particular lux value. Honestly it took a bit of trial and error to get the settings to stick.
Do the steps before open the dashboard, let it adjust the value. Set your default back light % and then link it. Mine eventually stuck. As I said at night they still come back on. Go figure !

You can just disasmble the screen and take out the light filters for the 4 keys! That's what I did.

Some ICS ROMs have annoying always-on backlight of the hardware capacitive buttons.
Try one of these to eliminate/dim that :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deskangel.adjbrightness
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.pruss.superdim
According to ShortbusDriver none of these work.
Can someone confirm this works - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26195948&postcount=4
No didn't work either....that would have been an awesome fix though lol
did you try to toggle auto brightness on and off ?
lights should turn off when screen is off.
No capacitive lights do go off with screen....just never go off as long as the screen is on.... for example when watching video a movie let's say....capacitive keys stay on and bright as ever
I see, it exists in CM7 as well.
Probably kernel related.

there's a bug in cm7 github for this issue,
I'm pretty sure Team Acid will take care of it.
Yes I'm sure they are on it.....I'm just looking for a way on my own.......
Just use screen filter it has the option built in

Thanks bro, this actually works, but I have to enable it after each button touch.
I put it as the app to launch when double clicking the screen on Apex launcher (currently on Erikmm's MIUI v4).

Timeout please...seemed to be somewhere around 30 secs or so on stock.
edit: now that I reconsider it may have only been like 10 secs top.

It's the same on all ICS roms that I have flashed, and I think I have tested them all
Screen filter is a quick fix...and if you enable navigation bar it works fairly well.
I think it might just be my phone but everytime i use the physical keyboard in light the led on the keyboard doesnt turn on but when i use it in the dark they turn on. Has anyone notice this?
ERrr I think the light sensor controls that. Especially if you have it to set auto.
Sent from my XT897 using xda premium
Mine does that, think it is a power saving feature. Uses the sensor by the earpiece much the same way as the auto feature with screen brightness.
Saint sent this from his Q using xda premium
It is a feature of the phone. I work for the sprint store, and our rep tried to show us that like it was an actual selling point. If you put your thumb on the sensor between the speaker and the camera the light will come on.

Not to my knowledge, at least not on the stock rom. CM7 had settings you could adjust, I imagine when CM9 hits we will see the same.

Did they take away the ability too adjust the brightness by sliding your finger across the notification bar in the official 4.0.4 update?

Many of the jb ROMs have the option to place a slider in the notification drawer. See screenshot next to the word "auto"
I'm running Orthus Five at the moment, but I'm pretty sure that the option is also in liquid, as well as other ROMs in this thread.

Ya I went totally stock bacause I didn't have enough time for all the flashing and updating of roms.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Get and App called "Display Brightness". It provides a transparent and auto-hiding brightness slider on the screen that works anytime the screen on on (lock screen, in apps, home screen, etc...)
it works well on the skyrocket... and yes, I'm still pissed that samsung took the notification bar brightness slider away.
I saw this feature on sons of Android rom and I'm not sure what it does exactly. I would normally just flash and find out but I kind of want to stay with touch wiz right now. I'm just curious what it does, it may help push me over the edge. Thanks for any info.

So what does it do. Does it allow you to change the theme to your liking. Are there pre determined themes or does it allow you to make it your way.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium
You download an apk that themes your status bar and such
Only on aosp roms tho
You can find plenty by searching them through Google adding xda at the end.
I always go for those red themes tho but rats just my liking
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I ran cm on my dx and dinc, if it's like that, you can theme status bar, icons, etc. But I'm not sure if it's the same. Search the market for cm theme to give you an idea.
