You need to either flash boot.img separately of you need to enable smart flash in 4EXT recovery and re-flash your ROM. I recommend formatting all partitions except SD Card in 4EXT recovery before re-flashing. Also, every time you flash a ROM, you will need to flash boot.img separately or enable smart flash again before flashing. Here is the appropriate guide for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25587345#post25587345

malybru, I've read many of your answers to these kind of questions & the key to finding a kernel not flashed problem is " I'm HTC Dev Unlocked and after flashing XYZ custom rom my (Something) is not working"
90% of these problems are because boot.img is not flashed automatically for HTC Dev unlocked devices, because HTC believes that flashing a custom Kernel, which will allow overclocking, will cause hardware problems that they are obligated to fix. Hence, the solution that I gave above. I don't mean to put you down or anything and it's pretty clear that you know way more than I do, but I thought you probably might have missed this & so, I brought it to your attention
Thanks for your reply man!
But i flashed the 3.32 firmware with the revolutionary hboot 1.27.1100.
So i think im not htcdev unlocked, but full unlocked..
And my vibration worked with virtious last day. So today i flashed virtious again but vibrate didnt work anymore
Maybe i try stock RUU to see if vibrate will work again..
My phone is just 2 days old
Edit: and im s-off
And it doesnt vibrate 1 time at boot..

I said firmware, not ROM. Form here.
Just refladhed 3.32 firmware. All was ok. But still no vibrate..
I've had this a couple of times with my xe.
It first happened when I first bought my xe from eBay.
All I did was gently drop the phone from about half a metre off the ground and it started working again. This method was made the vibration start working for me on both occasions. I dropped it onto a carpeted floor with a rug so damage was unlikely.
I found this solution on other forums so it's not only me who has tried this.
All I will say is I'm 100% serious about this and just be careful. Obviously I'm not responsible if you're a bi heavy handed with you're phone and throw it at the floor - that is not what I'm letting you to do!
When I bought my phone I had the same problem after some time. The vibrate (surplus part of the phone just below the sim card) worked occasionally, but rarely.
I had to send the phone at HTC, they would have repaired the vibrate, everything works fine since.
Thanks everyone for helping me out man.
The thing is i dont want to miss my phone for 3 weeks haha.
I will try to drop my phone softly..

RUU is your only option then.
If it's a software issue, RUU will solve it.
If it's hardware related then you'll need to S On the phone again & send it to HTC.

Thanks ill try your method.
After i s-on again and bootloader is locked, i will run ics ruu. Is that ok?
Just saw this on latest threads. Dunno if this will help as it may be totally different on htc but search for immvibed and libImmVibeJ.so. Then set permissions on those and the folders above, to all. This solved the issue for me in the note and i tried EVERYTHING.

didnt work.. sorry
just installed GB ruu on my sensation, all fine but still not vibrating.
BUT i made it to make it S-ON again and my hboot is 1.17.
But theres no pink text saying "LOCKED" OR "RELOCKED" in my bootloader.
It doesnt show anything in pink.
My bootloader's 1st line is just PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL.
Is it now locked and ok for warranty?? or is it supposed to say locked or relock???

It's supposed to say locked because you were on an engineering bootloader.
Re-flash RUU. Should do the trick.
i think its not supposed to say locked when on a GB rom.. i saw a vid on youtube where it wasnt sayn locked either.

I think when i flash ICS RUU that it'll say locked.
EDIT: updated to 2.3.4 and now saying locked

i rooted my device not too long ago with revolutionary.. Everything was successful..
When i got the phone i had the hboot 1.1800
well i went to try a rom.. ICS..
Told me i had to get the latest firmware, well i places the file on my sd card and went into hboot..
it was doing the update but said incorrect CID and now when i reboot, i get the boot loop on the htc screen..
i have a sd card reader, so i can put it in my computer.. so i tried to put back the original img.zip back because i did the win recovery..
so when my device reads that, it says incorrect model..
Help please!
oh my hboot says 1.27 now... how do i get back to my original 1.18?? i have to unroot it now but dunno how
Enter bootloader.
Perform superCID.
Reflash firmware, should be good to go with ics.

Take your time man, this will take longer than 15 minutes. You always have to read the information more than once so that you don't mess up your phone like you did.

Easier way - download the firmware that has your CID, kohr-ah has a thread covering all of them I believe

1. Find out your CID
2. Download firmware for your CID
3. Put firmware on your sd card
4. Flash

6. Profit.

Hi all, I am sorry if this is already posted or answered but I spent all day yesterday searching and reading and cannot find the answer.
I have 2 Htc sensations that I messed up some how and would be very grateful if you could help me with them.
Phone 1 has been rooted for a long time and in preparation for ICS I flashed T-mobil: Download 3.32 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
and now the phone works but it will randomly reboot. I have wiped the cache, delvak cache and battery stats.
I am completely lost please help.
Phone 2 I think I may have messed up real bad here is what I did to it.
I rotted it from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
I got to step 2 sub step 6 and now it continuously reboots it starts with the white screen with HTC on it then goes to another white screen that says HTC Quietly brilliant for a second and repeats.
Please help me yes I am a noob and grateful for any help.
Wow that was a fun ride (not really) it appears I did not flash the PG58IMG file correctly, after I flashed it correctly I got Insert Coin installed and so far it seems that they both are working. only time will tell.
Thanks anyway guys.
A.J.
If you are trying to install the latest firmware and having the HTC log restart problem. Try to super wipe on the recovery and install first the 3.12 firmware.

Both phones are working fine but I have a new question, I can not get the voice dialer to work ie I long press the button on my plantronics bt and say call tom.
I have tried vlingo from the market and this fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133246
but nothing has worked. is it just not working in Insert Coin rom?
Did I just brick my phone?
I tried to flash the 1.17 firmware and the last step failed, now it wont boot at all just a black screen the only thing it will do is the charge lite will come on bit it stays on after I unplug it.
which of the 2 phones you are talking about?
In a previous post you said that problem was solved, now what?
Also, it would be better to know what your bootloader says and what you were attempting to do before black screen.

Sounds like a brick to me, but since the problem is unclear, it's possible to fix. I wish I could help but I don't understand your issue to be honest!
I had 3.32 on it with Insert Coin ICS and thought I have 2 so might as well restore one to factory setting that's when I tried to flash the 1.17 and it never started again.
T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G
The other one is working so I am not messing with it.
I had the same thing happen to me and it was over for the phone. Took it in to tomo and told them it died and after I charged it and went to turn it on, bam, went black and never came back. They never got it to work either and replaced it for me
You mean 1.17 is the hboot?
In this case you installed a hboot for GB while on ICS rom. Obviously it won't work.
If you want to downgrade to GB you can try to run a GB RUU while in bootloader - fastboot usb (if you can still reach it)

No what's happened to him is what happened to me. It's like it gets fried or something. The screen goes black and u can't turn it on or get into bootloader. Tmobile told me when it happened it was dead and got me a new 1

Good luck mate. Just let us know if it worked
As the title states, I have a possible brick on my hands, the phone isn't mine and the person who uses it doesn't really mess with overclocking and such, it was running Miks rom GSM, and not overclocked (running at 1.18ghz) No overvolt either, it is an s-off device, before this it was a fully functional sensation.
Basically what i'm told is that the phone was in use and it just switched off.
No lights, no power, have tried three batteries, about 10 chargers, different usb cables, can't get to bootloader or recovery, adb won't recognise it, it appears to be just a dead phone, personally i'm guessing it's the mainboard but i thought i'd ask anyway, there are no signs of water damage or major droppage.
Popped over to dexters unbricking project but as i said the phone won't come on so it won't work.
As i said before it's not my phone, but i'd like to do a friend a favour if i could.
Any ideas?
Before anyone asks, I cannot get to the bootloader or recovery.
Many thanks.
Hope you get it working..but it's becoming quite common and no one seems to have any ideas. Mine did the same thing...and I just had the motherboard repaired!
Yeah, here is the other thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1624293
On such a popular Rom it is a bit unsettling.
Is it firmware, radio, kernel, or rom?
I hadn't seen this many Sensations die like this back on Gingerbread.
I am not sure...seems to have happened on a few different ROMs...so maybe it's not a specific ROM? I just got mine back and rooted and S-off as I needed the root to unlock the simlock...but I am scared of installing any custom ROMs or radio etc....I am thinking maybe I'll just wait for the official t-mobile ICS update...

I'll be starting a thread to determine just that... I have my suspicions, but I'd like to know in one place what everyone was running.
I was running ARHD 6.6.2 Just flashed the ROM.. and seem to flash fine, able to boot up. Even reinstalled all the apps...then while calling...had this long tone from the phone...and phone was unresponsive...I pressed power button.. and it turned off.
The first time..it actually turned back on....so I thought maybe it's an issue with reinstalling the apps. Then when I called again...after 30sec-1 min...same tone again...then phone turned off and never turned on again...Battery was 100% charged.
I updated the correct firmware since I was already using insertcoin ICS ROM for a while before changing to ARHD 6.6.2
I am scared of installing a custom ROM now....I have rooted the phone again, S-off, Clockwork, superCID....but I am thinking maybe I should just wait for teh official update for ICS and leave it as that.
Can I just to OTA update when it comes out?

Change your CID back to T-MOB010 and you can...
FWIW, what kernel were you running when it took a dump?
I didn't install any custom kernel...I just installed the firmware as suggested.. and also the radio file that ARHD page says we should flash for T-mobile phones....
then flash the ROM as usual. Everything worked...the phone died while running the ROM.
So I need to change CID again to do OTA update? It's ok to leave it rooted, Clockwork, and S-off? Maybe I shouldn't have changed to super CID then?

You can leave it rooted and s-off (in fact you WANT to keep s-off), make sure your stock rom is un-modified, and you need to go back to stock recovery. If you leave superCID then it will not detect the update. It needs to refer to CID to find the correct update package for your device...
I haven't modify the Rom that's on here now. So stock recovery means removing clockwork ? And changing CID...is there a tutorial to do that?..

All of a sudden one day I turned it on and it wouldnt go past the htc logo. It comes on, stays on the logo for a few seconds then reboots. I dont know what could have caused this but my friend had it for the day and when I got it back this started happening. I've tried turning the phone on without a simcard and memory card, fractory reseting and wiping the cache partition.
I am a newb but have gotten a reasonable amount of knowlege on android over the past 24 hours but so far none of the posts or information i've gotten on the internet has proven useful. Does anyone know of a solution or advice which may help me with booting to my os.

Need more details...
Stock?
Rooted?
S-on or s-off?
Custom recovery installed?
One thing is for sure, your phone isn't bricked and can be restored. The details of the device in the questions above are needed to determine exactly how to fix it though.
It sounds like your ROM got corrupted. (I can't even guess how) Ultimately you will be able to fix this by installing a new ROM. It's just a matter of figuring out what procedures you need to use based on your set up in order to do that.

you should used revolutionary.io method to S-OFF easily your device with that hboot version
that means that you have GB firmware and an ICS rom can't run in that fw version
while your are S-ON you should have installed 4ext recovery, enable smartflash from it and then flash a GB rom
after that you said you flashed a new hboot
i am not sure if you can do that as your are S-ON
and the result is not even turning on!
it seems to me that your device is bricked
use the unbricking project from dev section
edit:can you still enter to bootloader?

I cannot use revolutionary because i get the phone to go past the htc logo. I could only get into the bootloader. I upgraded from 1.18 to 1.27 so s-on didnt matter. I tried to unbrick but it said no device found.

from fastboot connect your device into the pc
go to the folder where you have adb and fastboot files
open a command window there and do
fastboot getvar version-main
i assume you have 3.32.or3.33 firmware but do it
if yes then from this thread do step 2

after that enable smartflash from recovery and flash an ics rom
Hi guys,
I have an HTC Explorer and I unlocked and rooted it few days back, later I got a strange problem that everytime I receive or make an outgoing call, my phone goes on loudspeaker automatically and anything I do, I can't make it stop. I factory reset it several times, reflashed stock ROM but nothing. Finally I decided to take it back to service center but since it's rooted, I tried to unroot it first and then relock the bootloader. I flashed back the stock recovery and then locked the bootloader but got some warnings while locking it.
Now it shows bootloader relocked but with some warnings in red color. I can't start my phone now as it goes in bootloader mode always, unlocking it again makes it work again so I am sure I am not doing something right.
Can you suggest me what I should do to make it lock properly and also if some suggestions related to loudspeaker problem, I will be really thankful.
Thanks.

Flashing an RUU is the only definitive way of *relocking* your device. And, as of why it shows *relocked* and not *locked*, I quote Rohan Pruthi (dunno if he's on XDA).
Because, its a virgin no more! no matter how much you try to show otherwise...

Thanks for your reply. I read this on so many places to flash RUU to solve this problem, unfortunately I am only have enough knowledge in Samsung area since I have S3 and never had to deal with HTC, so can you explain a bit more what's this RUU all about and where can I get it to flash on my friend's HTC?
If there are any links or something, that would be great. Thanks.

Reboot to bootloader and connect your phone to PC, and type
Code:
fastboot getvar all
and paste the output here... It will be easier for me to tell which RUU you'd need then...
Else, you can search for one yourself... Only thing that the Radio version and hboot should match...

I am not with that device now but thanks for the command, I will do that later. Hopefully I will be able to find one for my device, since it's exe file, I just need to run that once I get it downloaded?

you should have htc sync/drivers installed.
just reboot to fastboot, connect the device, and run the exe

For relocking the bootloader or flashing RUU, coz RUU flashing option is not there?

Download link removed from there by a mod. I already got that from somewhere else a while back and that's why my earlier question, should I use it for RUU purpose since there is nothing about RUU in that toolkit or simply to relock my bootloader?
