Hi everybody !
I'm trying to develop an app that has an "auto" sending mail feature.
I want that when the user push a button, the mail is sent via the app itself and not via the mail or gmail app...
So, my code works fine but I have a problem with the smtp protocol.
Concerning the french internet providers (I'm french ), we can use any smtp via wifi but if we use the gsm network, we need to use the smtp of the gsm provider. To handle this problem, I have used a little tip. I can recover the gsm operator with getNetworkName() and as in France, all smtps are like smtp.xxx.fr, I just had to replace the "xxx" by the operator's name.
But for the other countries, I don't know how it works....
Does anybody has an idea to handle this problem with a complete solution for all countries?
Thank you !

Hi!
I picked up a used Treo 750v (on Vodafone) with a view to network-unlocking it to use with my exiting provider. However I think I've run up against a potential problem. Getting the Treo network-unlocked doesn't seem a issue, the codes are easy to come by for a small fee.
However on my XDA-Mini-S (Qtek 09100) which has never been locked to any network provider I'm able to specify server settings for Outlook mail, so for example I can use the excellent free push-email from mail2web.com which utilize MS Exchange servers.
I read somewhere that the Treo 750v is preconfigured with Vodafone server settings in this respect (yes, you can add additional POP3 and IMAP servers but not the ones typically used for MS Exchange servers in Outlook). Does anyone know if this is true and where I might hunt around on the Treo to try and find & edit these settings?
Many thanks all!
Steve
My 750v, did not come with any preset Exchange server, nor other e-mail settings. I purchased an unlocked 750V in the US, and i have changed server settings from Mail2web to Corporate servers without any issues.
ditto. i've got an unlocked vodafone 750 using push email from mail2web. you need to go into programs/ activesync to enter the server address etc.
Got it - thanks Mike.
I was initially mislead by a posting from an unlock-guy on eBay 'my service will unlock you from the network but not the preconfigured Vodafone e-mail & server settings'. Which I thought was a little odd but nothing mobile operators do surprises me hugely!
On the subject of unlocking - these guys worked fine for me and weren't the eBay people mentioned above. £11.99 UK.

Configure Server:
Address: mobile.exchange.mail2web.com
Requires an encrypted connection
user [email protected] <-----must have the @mail2web.com
password
Everything else should be self explanatory.
Hope this helps

hello guys, if first like to start off by saying that i did try searching but was unable to find a solution. I currently have my email address at msn.com. I'd like to be able to access my email and recieve notifications of new emails on my phone.i realize that windows live program does not work with the tmobile proxy, so i found a program that forwards email from msn to gmail.com so i figured id use outlook to check my forwarded email, but outlook wont connect through the proxy. what im asking now is whether theres a program out there that allows me to check my email (msn.com or gmail.com) through the tmobile proxy? thanks in advance and all answers are appreciated.
bump .
I think you might be a little mistaken. The 5.99 T-mobile plan includes unlimitted free e-mail. As long as your outlook e-mail uses a standard port (which gmail does), then you don't need to use any sort of proxy or anything to get it to work, it just works.
If you do have the proxy set up, then you would need to make a second wap profile that circumvents the proxy.
does anyone knows any program or configurations for chat on msn with vodafone wap connection?
I tried with nimbuzz but it does'nt works.
thanks in advance!!!
and... sorry if someone asked before me... but I didn't found any post
I have the same problem, Can someone help me?
tks
You can forget about using MSN over WAP...
The WAP protocol is fundamentally different from the TCP, UDP protocols that the MSN app requires...
Get a regular dataplan (not WAP), and then you can chat over MSN from your PDA...

Not necessary.
In France, my mobile provider opened a special WAP connection with less port restrictions (SL2SFR for those who know it).
I advise you to write somewhere youre proxy parameters and then delete any proxy on your wap connexion configuration.
If Messenger still refuses to connect, reenable the proxy, you will have to find a special wap connection
You can use beejive for Windows Mobile (Beta) with a Wap connexion.
Or you can also visit http://wap.tjat.com to use any messenger you'd like
Hi,
I currently have a SIM free Samsung Galaxy S2 and I'm using the Softbank network in Japan with a black SIM card. Now I have everything working in terms of able to connect to the internet and also send MMS using a modified stock MMS client that allows the User Agent String to be specified as an iPhone.
My problem is that there is a lack of a "Reply to All" function in this MMS client. Since lots of people I know use an iPhone, they often have group messages. Now the only MMS client I see that has a "Reply to All" function is the Softbank Mail client
(I can't post links, but if you search for Softbank on the Android store, it should come up)
However, installing this and trying to send an MMS doesn't work. It gives a connection failure. I assume it's something to do with the User Agent String or it has hardcoded the non-iPhone APN settings in.
Has anyone any knowledge on how to modify this to work with the black SIM on Softbank?
Thanks for any help.
