I'm afraid that I may brick my phone.

Don't be afraid ! If you follow the instructions exactly nothing can
go wrong.
You have to test on the phone.

thanks for that great help
If there are English recoveries out there, just flash one over your existing one. I think that's the best advice you'll get without us knowing what device you have.

htc one x clone
android version 4.1.9
baseband 4.0
kernel 1.28.708.10
build 4.12
custom build htcextention-403-1-ga-7
thanks for a decent reply and i hope this will help you to help me
many thanks
Ah. If it's a clone, that's gonna be harder, as there's no way to know beforehand that a certain custom recovery .img will work. I think you have 3 choices:
Find out from someone else who has your same device
Try flashing a custom recovery designed for another device (such as the real HTC One X)
Stay with what you've got
If you choose #2, the changes could be irrecoverable. That's just part of the deal when you buy a clone, unfortunately.

give me some ideas

hey ive got a mf3 s4 that i have rooted but have not yet put any roms on. ive read about as much as i can on here about roms and such. i know that i have to flash the mf3 zip after i flash the rom in safestrap on rom slot 1 and never to touch the stock rom slot. i just need some imput of which rom to use, they all sound great. so if u have used the roms could u give me some ideas of which to use. i like shostock but there are 3 versions and im still not sure which one to use, and gravitiron is also a posibilty. ive read where the WIFI sometimes wont work after flashing and that there is something u have to flash to get it to working. so if it doesent work and i go back to stock will the WIFI start working again.. sorry for the long post,.
Everyone has their own flavor here. What may be good for one may be utter crap to another. We all took roms out for a test drive till we found the one we were most comfortable with. Unfortunately no one will hold you hand on here and asking for what rom is best for you is frowned upon here. Thats why we never compare roms to one another.
As I said you have to take a few out for a test run and see which you like best. There all AWESOME in my opinion. Go to each rom and read the last few post and you will get an idea as to what issues people are running into is all I can advise. Plenty of reading ahead of you, we all did it.
Enjoy the learning.

I'm suprised you havent heard of this yet. Go to the general section (I think), you'll find a safe strap discussion Q&A thread. Read up and ask questions before you jump in and flash a wrong ROM or something.
brought to you by my not so sexy GS4 MF3

okay, thanks for the video.
help me understand this. So this is like you got 2 roms in your phone at the same time. and we can flash the custom rom in slot1 2 3. and keep the stock rom right in the phone. that means we can always switch from the original stock rom and the custom rom that we install at slot 1. is that right??
As stated members are expected to do the research and decide for themself which ROM to try. The only thing you will get with a thread like this is what everyone's favorite ROM is and those threads are not allowed on XDA. Please read thoroughly all the ROM threads you are interested in before drastically altering your $700 device.

How to test any custom rom before flashing

Hello Friends,
I want to know that Is there any way to test custom roms before flashing.
Is there any way to test Custom Rom on Windows?
Please help me ..
No you can't test a custom rom for a specific device on your computer. No way to do this unless you find a working emulator for that but I am sure that you can't.
If you just want to test the functionality of the ROM itself, you could maybe find a x86 image which you can install on your computer.
The best practice for testing a custom rom is making a full nandroid backup and just flash the ROM. Then you can just revert back to the ROM you were before you flashed the new one.
Thanx for your reply friend.
Are there specific emulators for every devices or smartphone brands?

As far as I know not, you have to do that on a real device, but if you want to emulate AOSP android, you can try out GenyMotion, BlueStacks or Andy.
Anyways, I really recommend you to backup using your recovery and just flash the rom you want to test.

Why do you want to root your phone, if you want to change your rom?
You just need a Custom Recovery (e.g. TWRP) in which you can flash your favorite ROM.
Here is a beginners guide, which i found in this section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guides-bacon-timmaaas-how-to-guides-t2839471
Step 2 & 5 are, what you are intrested about.
Just read carefully and follow the instructions and there will be no problems.
Good Luck

You can try following this tutorial. It will work for RN7P as well. Only thing is, the video is in Portugese... And of course, you are doing this at your own risk
