Hey there guys,
I'm thinking about buying this slim battery without needing an new cheap ugly cover. http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...tery-for-lg-optimus-2x-p990-t-mobile-g2x.html
I know 44$ / 36€ (after using a fb coupon) with free shipping is a lot. Especially for only 200mAH more. 1700 vs. 1500 stock battery. (13% increase)
Though so far I only read ans only found good reviews about mugen batteries, and 13% increase seems more realistic than 1900mhA or 2400mha with same size as stock. Those other extended slim batteries - most of them get a lot of bad reviews.
I'm a simple guy who likes to think paying more is better quality. at least in this case. before I wanted to buy this though, I wanted to ask for you opinions.
Any vote against Mugen? anyone bought this before?
Even if I'll buy it. I'd be hard for me to test if this battery really lasts longer. It's over a year old and with customizing and playing I charged it so often. and i think it's kinda broken, getting really hot (even with stock rom and different chargers), dieing much faster (even in standby).
thanks in advance
13% increase isn't worth it in my book. However if you have cash to spend, splurge.

Honestly, I'd rather pay 10 bucks for an OEM battery and have 2 batteries (which is what I already do). 13% for 40 bucks is ridiculous.
1 in the phone, one on a charger. Swap out dead battery when you need a fresh new one, instant 12+ hours.

it's not only the 13% I'm thinking about to pay more it's also about the quality. Mugen seem to have a pretty good standing about keeping capacity high for a long time and lasting for a lot more charges, while other extended slim batteries seem to have lots of reports about fast decreaing capacity after one or two months and not lasting for too many charges.
haven't bought it yet... can't make my mind up about this...

So how did the mugen power battery turn out?
Always get a genuine OEM battery. Aftermarket batteries don't have a temperature sensor and so can quickly overheat and damage your phone.
Most extended batteries don't really have the capacity they claim to have.

I have been thinking about buying the extended battery for my TB. I have been reading online about what everyone has been doing about their battery life problem. From what i hear most people are very pleased with the extended battery except for the size of it. I was wondering if I just got an extra OEM and put it in my phone when the battery died if I would be getting about the same battery life as the extended battery. I am looking to make my phone last all day while streaming music a good part of the day. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Don't forget the metal contacts.

I opted for the extended battery. the piece of mind that my phone will last through the day (and more!) and not having to carry around an extra battery is definitely worth the price of the extended battery and extra thickness.
what if you go out of town for the weekend? that extended battery will definitely last you!
I just bough the cheap 1800 mah from ebayand see how that does. Besides could use the extra charger.
I get a disount on accessories at VzW so I got the $50 extended battery for like $36 so that's the main reason I opted for that battery. Having said that I LOVE having it for times I know I won't be at a charger for a while. It worked AWESOME for my plane trip last week! Damn thing wouldn't die on me at all haha. Well worth the money even at full retail price.
I went with the 1700 on ebay and it helps me make it through the day most times
I'm considering shelling out the 50 bucks for a 1700mha battery from Mugen.
I'm using an LG Quantum with the stock 1500. Anyone ever use one? Does it extend the life that much to be worth it?
...I also saw their monster 3400. The life would be great, but no thanks on the bulk-factor.

quick math tells me that the energy storage capacity for the 1700 is roughly 10% increase. Remember:
mAh = milli amp-hours. The number of hours the battery can sustain a one milli amp drain and is equivalent to the battery's capacity.
I do not believe it's worth the upgrade at that price. Also keep in mind that it will take longer to charge a higher capacity battery.

Interesting, I did not know that.
Many thanks for the advice. With that logic, no it's probably not a very good idea.
yeah... 10% increase is not worthed.. unless you go from 1300 to 1800 as in my mozart.. big increase
Also keep in mind these non OEM batteries may say 1800+ mAH, but the overall battery quality can be awful. I've heard some horror stories of leaking batteries, and the overall total capacity going down after only about a month or 2 of use.
HTC Arrive user here and I was using a 1800mah battery (coming from a 1500mah) and I say its worth it...straight up destroys the 1500mah. The only thing thats "meh" is that although it does seem to fully charge the battery, it just doesnt report it right. So at first it'll seem like the battery life is the same, but thats because you need to reboot the phone to get the right reading. For example, if you're at 100% and take it off the charger and do some nonsense, the reading will be the same as if you had the stock battery. But if you took it off the charger and immediately rebooted...you'd be on 100% for a long time (for me, with constantly listening to music after taking it off the charger and rebooting...I'd be on 100% for about 25-30 minutes).

Which battery maker are you using and does that 1800 fit the same profile as the 1500 one?
...I bought a Mugen 1800mAh battery for my Mozart and I am very happy with it.
I am now at ~ 60 hours per charge against 36 hours with the original battery...
I also got the 1800mah Mugen battery for my Verizon HTC Trophy. It does last longer than the OEM, in real world, maybe a 1/2 hour to an hour of talk time (standby longer )
I want a little extra battery life out of my Optimus V, but don't want to use the extended batteries discussed elsewhere because of the extended backs (I need my case to fit). So I have 2 questions.
1. What is the largest capacity\best battery that will not require a new back-plate, and fit the Optimus V without mods?
2.The best I could find is an AceSoft 1800mAh, does anyone have experience with AceSoft batteries in general and, if you own this battery can you verify it is 1800mAh and good quality?

Update: Here is the promised review.
This battery was not a bad buy, but for the money I expected more.
Pros:
-It seems to run a little cooler than stock battery (but that is just a feel as it has no temperature monitor).
-It holds about 1775mAh +/- 12%.
-Build seems to be quality
-No trouble with loss of capacity over the last month.
Cons:
-No temperature monitor.
-In real life testing it only gave me an extra hour and a half or so under moderate use, an extra 10% not 20%.
-No matter how many times I Calibrate it the last 40% discharges noticeably faster.
Conclusion:
-I Had very high hopes for this battery and was expecting to get an extra 3hrs (20%) under moderate use. In reality it only gives me 1 to 1and1/2hrs extra. -All in all the Build quality was solid and it did give extra power over the stock. At the price of 20$ after shipping and tax the little extra life it gave was simply not worth it.
-Although if an extra hour or so is worth the extra then go for it, as it is a quality battery.
-If I could go back in time I would just get a stock replacement off e-bay for 10$.
If anyone has any further questions regarding this battery feel free to ask.
I did a quick search and it looks like that AceSoft is a good bet. Don't own one though -- sorry.
Thanks for the info. I will buy it and report back.
Didn't know there were different batteries with better life, etc. Good to know!
You never reported back. I am eager to know how the battery upgrade went.
Me to, please
optimus one and optimus v are using the same battery model ?

Just a thought, you should have a look at the Anker batteries. Mugen and Seidio don't have Optimus S/V/whatever batteries but Anker does.
Don't think anker is as reputable as the others listed but it is worth a shot.
Hi everyone, I am on CM 7 stable release. My phone is 14 months old and for the past few days I m not getting battery backup and my phone is not charging beyond 70%. Does this means that the battery life is over, if yes then can anyone suggest which battery gives more backup?
Please reply as I am unable to use my phone. Thanks in advance.

has anyone tried any of the aftermarket batteries, whether it be from a store, ebay, amazon, etc.
I ordered a 2200mah battery for my Infuse off ebay for $8.
I am going to try that out and see if I get anymore life out of it.
I would have gotten the 3500mah battery, but I use an otterbox and I dont think it would fit since it has the bigger cover to hold the bigger battery.
I work in a metal forging plant, so I have to use an otterbox for my work... so it is a must have if I want my phone to last.
I did order a 3500mah battery for my wifes Samsung Captivate.. She doesn't really use/need a case. I got that off ebay as well.. for about the same price.
I hope her phone lasts longer, because she can't even get a day out of it... hers is rooted running MIUI.

I just got one of them 3500 batteries from amazon and its a solid battery, it wont fit on the case because i have the Otterbox case and cant use it with this, but you can definitely tell the difference in how long it lasts, and the case fits on the back of the phone great it has tabs and snaps right in. I use this battery when i am at home using wifi or alot of power on my phone and use the Samsung battery when i leave. Great investment for $10 but when you have the case on the phone it won't do you no good.

Getting a larger battery will help, but there's a lot of ways you can manage your phone's power consumption to dramatically increase your battery's life.
Take a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510745
All I've done is use the power management program Juice Defender (on extreme setting, so data is off unless I toggle it on), not use a live wallpaper, and use a Gingerbread ROM (R3VELATION). With light to moderate use I get about a day of life, and if I took further steps I could even get more out of my battery than that.
EDIT: Whoops, you're the same poster as here, so it looks like the new larger capacity battery has solved your battery problems. I'll just leave this post up here anyway since it might help others.
Would the bigger battery cause it to overheat? or damage the phone in anyway?

Bought the two pack of 1800 batteries from Anker at Amazon. they work drivers. I no longer have my phone plugged in as I can just charge all of the batteries using their awesome wall charger and such one in when a battery dies.

I also recommend to use dock charger like on ebay, i bought also 2200mAh batterys so i can charge them both and the free one can charge much faster since it's not in take-and-give cycle like when it's in phone usage.

Came in here to ask the same question about aftermarket batteries...was thinking about buying the OEM one off ATT site for $30 because I don't see an official aftermarket battery and i'm not sure I want to buy a $10 aftermarket off of amazon or ebay because of stories I hear about cheap China made batteries exploding or damaging the phone in some way
I just placed an order for this.....
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SGH-i...BMJ8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1332809949&sr=8-2
The description doesn't say so but all the reviews say it comes with an OEM battery along with the charger...great deal for $30 in my opinion if it is all OEM
The thing I've read about these batteries is they don't have a shelf life. Meaning as soon as they are made they start to depreciate. Then they sell the old ones on e bay, amazon at reduced prices as they don't last as long as a freshly hot off the press battery.
I have never had any luck in buying a extra mha rating battery, having it last an extra long time. I got Chinese 2500mah it don't last that long, and then I went and got a high capacity gold 2430mah it only last as long as a 1750mah , rather I have no idea how long normal is, as I got my infuse at a pawn shop used, battery last about 5-6 hours, normal usage, but what is normal? What is the basis of comparison? I mostly use it for movies, and wifi and, angry birds which eat my battery up.
My theory is the more you pay the younger they are, a 4 dollar batter last less then a 10th dollar battery. But I don't have the monies to buy every battery in all the price ranges to test and do all that techy stuff. To me it is just a grip shoot. Hit or miss.

can't learn how to fix it, if you don't break it first
All batteries age during use.
Aging factors are temperature and also voltage.
I think temperature is well known but I don't hear as many people talk about voltage.
Charging your phone to 100% and leaving it on the charger encourages aging.
Some of the cheapo's are not as resistant to aging as the stock batteries. Common story is they work fine for the first day or two and then start to noticeably lose capacity. I noticed that when I tried out the Fujei battery.
Adding to the whole mess as you alluded... evaluating battery life quantitatively is not an easy deal. My usage varies every day.
I get a rough feeling when my battery life is fading but it's subtle.
Battery Monitor Widget has a feature where it estimates your actual 100% battery capacity in milli-Amp-hours (1750 = factory spec but actual will be different and will decrease over time as the battery ages). I think that if you use BMW and allow your phone an uninterrupted charge from low voltage like 20% up to 100% (without using the phone during that period), then it will develop a pretty good estimate of your battery 100% milli-amp-hour capacity (because our phone does have a charging current monitor which BMW accesses, but it does not have a battery discharge current monitor). That's a lot of work, but probably not a bad thing to do once a month to keep track of your capacity so you'd see a trend like 1750 one month, 1700 the next month, etc. I might start doing that some day..
3500mAh Battery
It's been a week, and my battery life is going UP. I plugged in today, and at 1931 hrs today, I still had 61% of my battery life left. I have not had any appreciable decline in battery life, nor reduction in longivity. With the stock battery, my phone is completely dead by 1715. I unplug daily at 0800. My battery life has easily doubled by purchasing a no-name battery from an Ebay seller. I'm quite impressed with it, and I spent $80 on an extended battery when I had my TP2.
Has anyone try those 2500 mah batteries from ebay? I am interest in buying those since they are only 4 USD each. What do you guys think?
My stock battery is shot. It will drain from fully charged down to nothing in an hour of browsing the net. I have tried everything to calibrate it and have tried different ROMs but still the drain is horrible.
I saw a 1900 anchor (ankor?) battery on amazon for $19. Is that the one that everyone buys?

Yes. http://www.amazon.com/Anker-1900mAh-Battery-Sensation-Mytouch/dp/B0053EZJMC
It works great. Though l don't use my phone heavily. I mostly use it at home when phone is plugged in. But still it last much longer than stock.
Most people buy Anker battery and are very happy with it. I personally wanted more juice so I bought Mugen 3800mah battery. With Mugen I get with extremely heavy use around 26 hours of use. With moderate use I get around 36 hours. Light use 48 hours. But one problem with mugen is you will have to replace your back cover and your phone will be thicker to accommodate the battery. For me personally, I was after extreme battery life so the thicker phone didn't bother me at all. Another issue is price. Mugen is five times more expensive than Anker. But for me, I'm keeping my phone for awhile so it was a investment. But most don't want to deal with those issues so they choose Anker. It all depends on what you want. I recommend you start with anker, then if you decide you want more juice, go with mugen. But for most Anker is just fine. It's a good battery and will give you extended use. If you want extremely long battery life, go with mugen.

This is probably a stupid question but you can charge the battery by plugging your phone in like usual right? I see that some of them come with a wall charger where you have to plug the actual battery into that.

Yes. Anker simply replaces your stock battery. Same shape size.
Is this Anker really that good? Beacuse I always buy the batterys from ebay (just like the ones for my DSLR) and have now a no brand 2430mAh using for almost a year and can use it a whole day without problems. Costs me only $12 and free shipping.
I bought 2 Anker batteries and a charger for $30US, I think. No regrets.

I bought my Anker 1 year ago and it still pretty good!
Get Anker.
An important thing to consider is anker has a 1 year warranty. And they WILL honor their warranty. I bought 6 batteries for my families LG Optimus Vs (Our first smartphones) and 1 battery went bad after like 6 months. I called them up a few months later when I realized I had a warranty, and they sent me replacement! (it was like 1 month before my warranty ended) And all they wanted was the serial numbers of the old batteries, however the original ones didn't have numbers so they instead just wanted a photo. (Which now that I think about it I never sent... ...)
Also, one of the chargers (that I bought with 2 batteries, a few months before that set of batteries I mentioned above) fried for some reason after about 8 months. So I left it on the shelf hoping I might be able to fix it. By the time I realized I had the warranty it had been over a year since my purchase. Bummer. So I called them up explained it went bad several months ago but I didn't know about the warranty, could they send me a replacement? And even though I was no longer in my warranty they sent me a new one.
Another thing is, for me, having spare batteries is a MUST as I have a LOT of free time at work. (I'm a background actor, and most of the time we have to do whatever we want) And continuous use (Browsing the web, playing games, reading news, watching TED AIR talks) drains a battery in 3 - 5 hours. And it can sometimes be 16 hour days, with no place nearby to plug in a charger. That's another awesome thing about Anker sets, the stand alone charger. I have MANY times been at work with one of my batteries dead. I looked for and found an outlet, a little far from holding, (where we are while we aren't working) and just plugged a dead battery into the stand alone charger and into the outlet. I can go to work or just go about my business not tethered to the wall, and 3 hours later my battery is charged. I then would switch one of my more drained batteries for it and continue like that.
So ultimately its up to you, but I would recommend getting a set of 2 Anker 1900mah batteries and a charger for $30. However if the charger isn't a big deal for you then look up some $7 Evo 3D batteries on Amazon. They are 1730mah, and are pretty decent.
Bragging here, I currently have around 10 batteries! Only 2 are anker. the others are 5 EVO 3D and 3 Sensation stock batteries I got for only $2 each! I found someone on Amazon selling them for $2 each with $4.50 shipping, only the shipping combined! So I got 8 batteries AND five 16GB Class 4 Sandisk MicroSDs for only $54 total. What a deal. lol.
